Chapter 1

The percussion of rain drummed against the rooftop, but none of the girls cared. The music from the boombox in Spencer's shed tuned out the thunder roaring outside. Catelyn laughed with her friends and drank some booze in a cup. She wasn't the type to drink, but if her friends were doing it too, then she didn't mind. She thought it was more of a bonding experience. A rite of passage to be part of their clique.

Catelyn still couldn't believe that she was here with them. She never would have thought to be friends with girls like them, especially with the one who brought them all together, Alison DiLaurentis. At the time, Alison only had Spencer and Aria as her friends. Then Alison met Catelyn and became friends when they were in the seventh grade. She then met Emily and Hannah through Alison. They've all been best friends ever since.

As soon as the thunder came again, the lights went out, and the girl's smiles wavered as Spencer went over to the boombox. Aria turned on her flashlight right away, highlighting the pink streaks in her hair.

"What happened?" Emily asked.

"It must be the storm." Spencer said, walking over to the jukebox.

The girls looked around when they heard a creak, and small bumps formed on Catelyn's creamy skin as her breath grew still for a moment to swallow the lump in her throat before she whispered, "What was that?"

When the creak came again, only this time louder, Aria turned over to the door. "Something's out there."

When the door of the barn opened, Catelyn heard Hanna say, "Guys!"

They all stood from their spots and came close together. Aria flashed her flashlight over to the entrance. As they drew nearer to the door, glass shattered, alerting the girls as they gasped. Leaves rustled, and the chill wind crept into the barn, making the hairs on the back of Catelyn's neck stand. Even though she was terrified, she still wanted to know what was outside.

Her and her friends soon discovered what...or who it was. The girls screamed when a female figure jumped at the door and leaned into the entrance as she waved her flashlight at them and said, "Gotcha!"

Catelyn's heartbeat slowly went back to its normal pace as she steadied her breathing when she saw who it was. She was, in a word, gorgeous. Her blonde curls bounced over her shoulders, she wore fashionable and feminine outfits, and she had the signature Dilaurentis blue eyes.

She was the complete opposite of Catelyn. Both inside and out. Catelyn's hair was much wavier than hers, reaching slightly over her shoulders, and it was the color of chestnuts as were her eyes. It was the kind of color that embraced strength in a subtle way, drawing from her kindness and caring nature. Her outfit was also similar to Alison's, but the difference between their wardrobes is that Catelyn tended to wear more innocent styles that highlighted her character while Alison was much more trendy.

"You scared us, Alison."

She smirked at Catelyn and closed the door behind her, making her way inside. "Don't tell me you got a heart attack."

They all laughed like it was a joke and settled down in their seats. Catelyn sat in between Emily and Hanna before crossing her legs over each other since she was wearing a short skirt. The girls then talked about the new Beyonce music video and laughed when Alison joked with Emily by saying how Emily loved the music video a little too much. Catelyn knew it was Alison just being Alison. After all, she was the IT girl that everyone aspired to be.

Alison then passed a red glass cup to Aria as she said, "Your turn. Go on."

"Alright."

Aria gave her an eye roll before she tilted the cup up to drink. Catelyn couldn't help but laugh with the girls as they watched how much their friend was drinking.

"Be careful Ari, don't do something you'll regret."

"Yeah." Spencer agreed with Catelyn. "Take too much and you'll tell us all your secrets."

"Friends share secrets. That's what keeps us close."

When Alison gave both Spencer and Catelyn a look to back off for a moment. Catelyn's smile wavered but remained. She didn't want to show the girls how uncomfortable she was over Alison's dominance, so she looked at the floor until Alison turned back to Aria.

"Drink up."

They laughed again as Aria continued to drink from the cup, and before they knew it, Catelyn found herself being woken up by Aria. Catelyn's neck was stiff due to her position with her head tilted to one side. As Catelyn looked around, she noticed that Spencer and Alison were nowhere in sight.

"Where's Ali and Spencer?" Hanna asked.

Catelyn stood from her spot and noticed that the door was open. "Maybe they went for a walk?"

"Doubt it." Aria replied.

When Aria went over to the door, she called out Alison's name, and the girls were shocked to see just Spencer.

"She's gone."

"What do you mean she's gone?"

"I've looked everywhere for her." Catelyn looked over at Hanna and Emily as she knew that they were wondering what happened, and when Spencer opened her mouth, Catelyn's lips slightly parted and her eyes widened in horror. "I think I heard her scream."

It's only been a year since Alison disappeared. She never forgot the next day when the police took her into questioning. All she told them was exactly what happened to her and her friends that night. They were all just goofing around and having a few laughs, but she didn't want them to know that she was drinking. She couldn't afford to have her family know that she was drinking under age.

Catelyn took one glance at her room and took in her surroundings. Her room was plain and simple just like her. A moss green carpet sprawled out on the floor in front of her bed, which carried decorative pillows in shades of blue and white that stood in between two bedside tables. Her desk faced against the wall with her laptop, a couple of photos, a lamp, and a potted rozetta amaryllis sat patiently on it. Next to it were her favorite classic books stored in a bookshelf so that she could exercise her mind whenever she pleased. She looked at herself in the mirror on her vanity before she opened one of her drawers to take out a headband as she put it on, brushing any unwanted locks away from her delicate face. It matched her ruched off the shoulder black tee and crisscross gray plaid suspender skirt with flats.

Going over to her window, she grabbed her tote bag that her father gave her for her birthday in June. She made sure that everything was inside, including S. E. Hinton's The Outsiders, before she felt warmth radiating her cheeks, so she looked out the window to see her neighborhood. Catelyn then noticed a boy around her age shutting the door from the house next door. He strode in a brooding manner, clutching onto his bag that strapped over his shoulder. Toby Cavanaugh. Catelyn remembers how she used to be best friends with Toby when they were kids until she met Alison, then she simply grew apart. They're more like strangers to each other now, not bothering to say "hello" like they used to in comparison to Emily who was also her neighbor.

Emily and Catelyn have also grown apart just like the rest of her friends ever since Alison disappeared, but out of all of the girls, Catelyn talked to Emily the most. However, it's not the same anymore. They don't spend time together or go over each other's houses and have hours of conversations like they used to. Now, they are more distant, but they were at least cordial to each other by exchanging greetings.

Brushing the thoughts away, she grabbed her stuff and headed downstairs into the kitchen. She saw her older brother, Elijah, eating a bowl of cereal with banana slices inside. One look at him, and there was no denying that they were brother and sister. Everyone just knew that they were siblings whenever they were together, and she didn't mind. He was also the one person who everyone depended on, especially whenever they needed a handyman. Most of the time he would charge them since it's his job, but he graciously gave them a smile and offered some discounts for his work as a courtesy for those close to him. It made sense since Elijah was a contractor after all. He lived to help others. It was his most admirable quality.

What she never understood, though, was why Elijah was still living with them. She does love her brother, of course, but she thought that he would want more freedom by having his own place as he did a few years ago when he was in college. At the time, he was living with his best friend, Jason. Elijah told her once how they went to high school together, but they never really hung out until he helped Jason out one time. Ever since Jason left, Elijah sold his apartment and moved back in with his family. Catelyn remembered when she asked her brother why he moved back, and he gave her an excuse that he just wanted to stay close to his family. She didn't want to press him further because she thought there was more to it that he didn't want to say, so she just let it go.

Mr. McKinley, on the other hand, was wearing his signature white lab coat because he was a doctor at the hospital in Rosewood. He was watching a news program from the little t.v. that was against the brick wall in their kitchen. Out of everyone in her family, her father was much more serious because he was usually on the go. He always worked from morning until late at night. Sometimes he would come home towards the evening, but it was extremely rare. He typically comes home somewhere between 8-9 p.m., leaving Catelyn and Elijah to make dinner for themselves, order takeout, or hang out with their friends by getting something to eat.

Catelyn remembers a time though, when Mr. McKinley used to come home earlier, but that was a long time ago when her mother was still around. They went through a horrible divorce to the point where she hurled a vase against the wall. She was only eight years old at the time in her brother's room, listening to them screaming at each other's throats. Catelyn will never forget how she heard her mother yell at him, claiming that she never wanted to marry him before she walked out of the house and slammed the door. That's why there weren't any pictures of her mother in the frames. They were kept in scrapbooks tucked away on shelves in the living room. She thought it was her father's coping mechanism to work longer shifts and to put away any memories of Catelyn's mother by erasing her from his mind.

"Morning."

The two men turned to see her, and Elijah had a smile on his face right away as he said, "someone's ready for school."

"Always."

When she grabbed a bright red apple from the bowl on the island, she took a nice, juicy bite, savoring its sweetness as it glided across her tongue. She typically ate fruit on a school day. Catelyn would have cooked an omelette, but fruit was much quicker to eat, and it always refreshed her mind. She typically made breakfast during the weekends for her family early in the morning with Elijah's help as he would always start working on the toast, waffles, and putting the raspberry jam out. Cooking was one of the bonding moments she experienced with her family.

"It has been a few days since the one year anniversary of fifteen year old Alison Dilaurentis has been missing in Rosewood. Authorities are still on the case to find out where Alison Dilaurentis is, while locals still raise concerns on her disappearance-"

Mr. McKinley didn't let the news anchor finish as he shut off the t.v. when he saw how his daughter's smile quickly faded away at the mention of her friend's name. He then finished his coffee and grabbed the keys from the hook off the rack.

"Alright. I'm heading to work."

Catelyn and Elijah said their goodbyes to Mr. McKinley as he grabbed his bag and headed out the door, leaving his children alone. When Catelyn turned to see her brother, she noticed that he was looking at her.

"You okay?"

She knew exactly why he was asking her, so she responded, "I still can't believe it's been a year, and they still haven't found her."

"Yeah. I'll still never forget when you two put a bucket of cold water on my door."

"We were twelve, and I said I was sorry." Catelyn weakly argued.

"Tell that to my cold that didn't go away for a week."

Elijah smirked when he saw his sister laughing a bit at the memory. She went along with Alison's plan to prank her brother, especially when Alison thought it would be a great idea to show her the thrill of torturing Elijah as siblings should. She wasn't really thinking back then. Catelyn thought they were stupid pranks, and she certainly wouldn't do them now. She's not a child anymore.

"You want me to drive you to school."

"No, thanks." Catelyn took one of the keys from the rack and jangled them in front of her brother who smirked at her. "I got a ride."

"Stay safe, Cate."

Catelyn smiled at her brother before heading out the door for school. She really did love her brother, and she was glad that he was like a friend to her. She didn't know what she would do if he ever looked at her differently.

The chimes for the doorbell rang, so Catelyn went downstairs to open the door. She smiled when saw her visitor, Alison. She already made her way inside as Catelyn shut the door behind her and followed her into the kitchen as Alison greeted her without sparing her a look.

"Em's not here?"

"No. She went to the mall with Aria. They'll be here soon though."

Alison smirked like it was a joke as she asked, "You didn't want to go?"

"I was helping Elijah earlier. He wanted to wash his car."

They then heard thuds coming downstairs that sounded like footsteps as Alison's smirk grew. "Speak of the devil." When he saw Alison, he greeted her. "I thought you lived with my brother? Did you move back?"

He gave her a polite smile then and replied, "No. I always come here on the weekends to visit my family. Doesn't Jason come to visit yours?"

"Yeah, right, Jason?" Alison snickered at Elijah.

Catelyn looked over at her brother and noticed the way how his eyes flashed for a second when he heard her tone. Alison and Jason didn't get along well, and Alison wasn't afraid to show it. For some reason, Elijah's smile was not warm as he stared at her down. The kind brother that she knew looked at her like a dangerous insect.

"Well, maybe if you had a good relationship with him, then he would find excuses to see you."

Alison never took her eyes off of him, and Catelyn noticed that her grin turned more playful and her eyes more mischievous. She watched him grab a glass to pour himself orange juice from the fridge before putting it away.

"Don't let me stop you two." Elijah grabbed his keys and turned to Catelyn. "You gonna be alright by yourself?"

"Yeah. It's just Alison and me."

"Alright. I'm heading back to the apartment." As he headed out the door, he stopped when he put his hand on the knob to look at Alison and say, "I'll tell your brother that you were here."

As soon as he shut the door, Alison snickered, which unnerved Catelyn. "Your brother really gets on my nerves."

Catelyn shrugged her shoulders as she replied, "he just said his opinion."

Alison stared hard at Catelyn, calculating her every move. She watched her carefully as Catelyn grabbed some berries, a banana, mint, and almond milk from the fridge. Catelyn then diced up the mint and put it in the blender along with the berries and banana before she put about a cup of almond milk inside the blender. As soon as it was done, Catelyn took two glasses out along with two straws.

As soon as she set them on the counter in front of the blender, she heard her friend say, "You should still tell your brother."

Catelyn froze as her smile quickly faded, knowing exactly what Alison was referring to. She then composed herself by pouring in the smoothie in the cups before handing one to Alison.

"You know I can't do that."

"Why? Wouldn't it be better if he knew, or are you just too afraid for him to see that you're not so innocent as you claim to be?"

"You know I can't tell him. He would kill him." Catelyn finally snapped at Alison in a hushed whisper as if Elijah was still in the house. "Ali, please don't make me do it."

Alison gave her a playful smirk and took a sip from her glass as she said, "kiss and tell, Cate. You don't want your brother to find out from someone else, do you?"

Catelyn went inside her classroom for the first period. She noticed right away Emily sitting in the back with a blue sweater jacket and a high ponytail. She also noticed a familiar feminine figure sitting next to Emily. Her frame was petite, and she had a pale, ivory complexion. Catelyn smiled right away after realizing who it was. Walking over to the back, both Emily and the girl saw her heading her way. Catelyn thought she would welcome her back since Aria and her used to be close just like Emily.

"Aria."

"Cate?" Catelyn sat in front of Emily and turned to her two old friends. "Hey, how have you been?"

"I'm good. How are you? It's been over a year, right?"

"Yeah since Alison disappeared." Catelyn nodded her head, thinking back for a moment on how all of the girls used to be great friends, and she was sure that Emily thought of the same thing when Emily glanced at her. "You guys look like you're still close, though."

Emily shrugged while looking down for a moment as if she was ashamed to admit, "We pretty much say hi to each other. That's about it."

"Although, sometimes we talk." Catelyn defended as if it made anything better, even though she knew that Aria had an idea of what Catelyn was trying to say.

They then noticed an old friend strutting into the classroom with her golden-spun hair and heart-shaped face that complimented her plump lips.

"Is that Hanna?"

"She's the it girl now." Emily clarified to Aria.

Catelyn then noticed a girl following behind her with jet black hair and round hazel eyes. She knew exactly who it was. Catelyn remembered pitying her a long time ago, but after seeing her now, she doesn't think if she will ever be friends with her just like Hanna.

"And Mona's right on cue." Catelyn put her bag beside her.

"That's Mona?" Aria asked.

"Quite the transformation right? Her and Hanna have been inseparable ever since Ali disappeared."

"Wow. Talk about a makeover."

When Hanna looked over at the three girls, she gave a little wave to Aria, but when she made eye contact with Catelyn and Emily, she turned her attention back to Mona.

"What's with her? You guys fighting?"

"Out of all of us in the group, only Cate and I really talk, but not that much." Cate looked away for a moment when Emily explained the relationship. "We didn't just fall out of touch with you, Aria. We all fell out of touch with each other,"

Catelyn then looked to see another old friend of hers coming into the classroom. She looked almost preppy, and her name was Spencer. She walked past Hanna and smiled shyly at her as she headed over to her seat in the front of the classroom.

"They're not so close anymore either."

"At least Spencer is friendly though unlike Hanna. She usually gives me a wave, while Hanna just turns a blind eye." Catelyn said as she took out a notebook and a pen.

The cafeteria was packed, and Catelyn and Alison sat at a table across from each other. Catelyn was chewing on some grapes and strawberries that she brought from home. They talked about many stories about their family over the weekend, having a great time. When Alison looked past Catelyn, she rolled her eyes and snickered, confusing Catelyn, until she heard a familiar voice.

"Hey guys!" Catelyn looked to see her classmate, Mona Vanderwaal, with her two side ponytails and big, round glasses that covered her hazel eyes, carrying a tray of food. "Can I sit here?"

Catelyn didn't think it was going to be a big deal, but at the same time, she never really talked to Mona since she knows that Alison avoids her. However, seeing the state the cafeteria was in, she thought it would have been alright.

"Our table's full."

As soon as Catelyn heard Alison's answer, she saw the smirk on Alison's face and how Mona's cheerful glee on seeing them quickly disappeared. Not wanting to see her pitiful face, Catelyn looked away and stared down at her criss-crossed arms on the table as an excuse to avoid Mona.

"Oh, okay."

She watched Mona walk away and noticed how her demeanor completely changed. Mona was always so cheerful, and Catelyn knew that Mona wanted to be part of Alison's circle. No matter how hard she tried, Mona made herself look more and more desperate. Catelyn first thought it was because Alison was extremely popular, but then she thought it might also have to do that Mona's best friend, Hanna, is Alison's friend, so maybe she wanted to be close to her. Who knows?

When a tray placed itself next to Catelyn, Alison and her looked to see a girl, who was much bigger than her with blonde hair. Even though Catelyn knew Hanna the least through Alison, Catelyn didn't think Hanna was so bad. In a way, she kinda pitied her, which made her feel even worse. And maybe that was why Alison let her join their group, but then again, Alison never pitied anyone.

Looking over Hanna's tray, Catelyn saw a cheeseburger with potato chips and a candy bar from the vending machine. Hanna typically ate something unhealthy, but Catelyn didn't really mind. Even though the other girls ate more healthier foods than her, it wasn't like almost all of them didn't say anything, especially Catelyn. She never wanted any kind of animosity between herself and anyone. However, one look at Alison, and Catelyn knew what she was thinking.

"Do you think that's a good idea?"

As soon as Hanna grabbed the burger, she was about to put it in her mouth until she heard her friend speak. Alison's look and body language said it all. Arms folded with her body leaning against the table. Mischievous eyes twinkled when they saw how uncomfortable Hanna was.

As soon as Hanna got up, she went over to the trash can with her tray and threw it away. Catelyn watched her with sympathy coming back to the table as she lowered herself back in her seat next to her friend.

"Don't worry." Alison said. "Catelyn can share her fruit with you."

Her eyes snapped over to Alison, taken aback. Not because she had to share her food with Hanna but because she wanted Hanna to eat healthier food. However, instead of encouraging her, Alison always told her off, making her more self-conscious, and it was blatantly obvious.

The day had gone by quickly, and Catelyn made it home. She parked next to her brother's car, and thought it was strange how he was home. Usually, Catelyn was home first since her brother and her father were at work. She shut the door and locked the car with the push of a button. When she looked at the curb, she noticed an unfamiliar silver car parked in front of her house. She didn't think much of it, because she thought it belonged to a client of his. Brushing the thought aside, she made her way inside.

When she shut the door, she called out her brother, "Elijah." When there was no answer, she tried again and put her keys on the rack before she put her bag down on the coach in the living room. "Elijah."

The thudding of feet alerted her attention, so she looked to the stairs, thinking it was her brother. Only it wasn't just Elijah. Her breath stilled when she saw her brother and another male figure, and he nearly froze when he saw her. He was very attractive with his shaggy, dirty blonde hair and almond-shaped green eyes. It went with his square jawline and soft features. His name was Jason Dilaurentis, and he was her brother's best friend.

From what Elijah told her, they knew each other in high school, but they never really talked to each other. They simply knew that they existed. It wasn't until they went to college together. Jason was in a tight spot from what Elijah described, so Elijah decided to help him out by being a good samaritan. He never told her what he did to help him out though, but it didn't seem to matter to Catelyn. If it weren't for Elijah being friends with Jason, then she would have never been introduced to Alison, who introduced her to Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna.

"Jason?" By the time they reached the last stair, they went over to her. "What are you doing here?"

"Your brother invited me."

Catelyn looked at Elijah as he clarified, "He got out after a year in rehab. I thought I might help him out, especially after he contacted me."

Taken aback, she looked over at Jason then. "You contacted him?"

Elijah seemed to have noticed right away that something was wrong as he asked, "what is it Catelyn?"

When Jason stared at her hard, she knew he was thinking the same thing. She didn't want her brother to find out, and she knew that Jason didn't want to either. Only one other person knew their secret, and she disappeared a year ago. Not wanting her brother to get anymore suspicious, she smiled innocently and tried to make an excuse.

"Nothing. I'm just...I'm glad you're okay."

Her heart nearly skipped when their eyes met again. She needed to cast these thoughts away. After he left, she swore that she would never feel this way again towards him. It was only a matter of time before those feelings would resurface, and she was determined never to let it happen again.

"Yeah. I'm clean now, so everything should be fine."

Catelyn nodded her head, acknowledging him. She really was glad that he was alright, but seeing him again, brought so many memories back. She didn't know what to think, especially now with his sister gone.

When Elijah grabbed two soda cans from the fridge, he handed one to his friend and opened the door that led to the backyard as he said, "Yeah, now all that's left is to get yourself a place to live while you're staying with us."

Catelyn's eyes snapped to them, shocked by her brother's announcement. "What? You're-You're living with us?"

She looked over at Jason, who watched Catelyn carefully. She didn't understand what was happening. Nothing good was going to come from this. And for some reason, Jason didn't seem to mind at all.

"It's for a little while until I can find a place."

"We have a guest bedroom so it'll be fine," her brother said.

Catelyn smiled nervously as she asked, "did you let Dad know?"

"Of course I did."

Catelyn nodded her head again, because she didn't know what else to do. She couldn't believe this was happening. It was if someone was out to get her, and she had a sneaky suspicion that Jason wanted this to happen.

As soon as Elijah's back was turned, both Jason and Catelyn looked at each other for a moment before Jason followed Elijah out into the backyard. Catelyn went over to the door sometime after he closed it behind him. Their backs were turned to her, and Jason's hand was in his pocket while the other held the soda can that Elijah gave him as he took a sip. She couldn't deny the heated chemistry between her and Jason. After all, she was too familiar with it, and now that he was back and living with them, it was going to make everything even more complicated.

When she heard something buzz, she went into her tote bag and took out her phone. Flipping the cover, she noticed a message written on the screen. Her eyes were glued onto it as the message gave her bumps on her pale skin.

Must be hard to tell Elijah that you screwed with his best friend.

- A

Catelyn read the message over and over again, and when she saw who it was, she couldn't believe it. There was only one person who gave her signature "A" at the end of every message, the only person who knew about Catelyn's secret, and she disappeared. How is this possible?

Their bodies united in body and soul. She felt him going in and out of her at a brisk pace, slowly building to an undeniable pleasure. Catelyn wrapped her arms around Jason, tugging on his hair on the nape of his neck with one hand while the other clawed down his back. His teeth bit her lower lip so that when they parted, he invaded her mouth with his tongue. She desperately moaned into his mouth as she felt him move faster inside her.

When he parted away from her mouth, he grabbed her legs and bent them, pushing himself deeper inside her to increase his pace. Catelyn didn't bother holding in her breath, because no one was in his apartment. She didn't know what she would do if Elijah found out that she had been seeing his best friend for many months now. Catelyn and Jason have tried to end it before, but their chemistry with each other always drew them together again into a heated passion.

When his hips moved more in sync with hers, a fire ignited and slowly built, so she shut her eyes in anticipation and held onto the bed's railing as Jason pushed himself deeper inside her. She felt him lean in to invade her mouth once more, and she welcomed it. Her hunger for him forced her tongue to dance around his. She almost felt suffocated when his mouth never left hers, but she forgot all about it by enjoying how he tasted. It was like honey dripping from her tongue that she couldn't get enough of.

But her favorite moment was whenever he was reaching his peak, he pressed his chest against hers. Catelyn loved his warmth, but what she loved most of all was hearing his heartbeat. It thumped wildly against her just as hers was, and he seemed to have known it too as he parted away from her one more time to look into her eyes. Their bodies moved in unison as his bed rocked and creaked against the wooden floors.

His hands found their way to her hands. Calloused as they were, but Catelyn didn't mind as she gripped them tightly. Everything built inside, and when Jason's lips slowly parted, she watched the air slowly leave his mouth as did hers. They were both close. She felt it, especially with how she felt him throb as she tightened around him. The pleasure was too good. Catelyn finally put her head back and shut her eyes to hear him release by giving her one last thrust before he groaned.

He stilled himself inside her, probably because he wanted to enjoy the sensation inside her more as he filled in the rubber around himself. When he took himself out of her, Catelyn looked to see Jason's state. Covered in sweat and panting just like her. He removed the condom from himself, and she saw the amount inside. She couldn't deny that it was an impressive amount, and a thought crossed her mind that if he wasn't wearing protection, she would have been pregnant by the size of his amount.

Jason went over to the bathroom's trash bin to throw out the evidence from her brother. She wasn't an idiot though. Elijah definitely has seen the condoms inside. After all, he lives with Jason. However, he probably thought that Jason was with a one time fling from a girl he met at a bar or something. Nevertheless, they both decided to keep it a secret from Elijah and everyone else. They couldn't afford for anyone to find out especially since Jason was considered a grown man in society and Catelyn was a minor.

When Jason came back, she watched him approach her, so she made more room for him as he laid himself down next to her. His arm became his cushion, and the other wrapped itself around Catelyn's bare shoulder, bringing her closer to him. She smiled warmly at him when she felt his touch. It was gentle and offered her protection. She felt safe to be with him.

"When do you think Elijah will be back?"

Jason huffed out a breath as he replied, "I don't know. He said he would be late. Has a demanding client I guess."

Catelyn placed her hand on his cheek, so he turned to look at her, and she used the opportunity to lean in and kiss him. They both closed their eyes, enjoying the slow passion they gave to each other as they savored the moment. She felt his hand reach the nape of her neck, pulling her closer. As he was distracted, her hand slowly traveled lower and lower until she felt something hard, so she clutched it in her palm and moved her hand up and down so that he would feel even more good. Jason parted away from her and drew in a breath as she smiled innocently.

"Cate...," he groaned out.

"It's just like you said. Elijah's probably gonna late. We still have some time."

She captured his lips one more time before she pushed him back. She then used the opportunity to slip a condom on him from the box on his nightstand. Catelyn then went on top of him to position her entrance as she slowly slid her way for him to be inside her. He held onto her hips and sucked in a breath when she paced herself, slowly rocking him as she felt him getting bigger inside her already. He just felt too good that she couldn't help herself.

When they stared into each other's eyes, she couldn't deny the chemistry they had, and it sparked when he sat up, making her gasp as they wrapped their arms around each other. They both stopped what they were doing for a second before they gazed into each other's eyes again. Such limitless devotion and passion settled in, wanting more out of each other. Catelyn then moaned quietly when she felt him move his hips up, reaching into her center, while his hand caressed her cheek as he slowly leaned in with every thrust he gave her as she met his pace.

After seeing the news of Alison's body being found last night with her family and Jason, they all headed to Rosewood's church the next day. Mr. McKinley, Elijah, and Jason were all wearing black jackets with ties, while Catelyn was wearing a tall contrast mesh lantern sleeve ruched bodycon dress. She couldn't help but look at Jason who walked ahead of them with his hands in pockets and his head hanging low.

By the time the bells tolled, they made their way inside. Catelyn walked along the blue carpet in between the benches. Everyone gave their sympathies to Mrs. Dilaurentis ahead, which was the direction they were heading to. As soon as they made it to her, she looked at her son right away, and they couldn't help but hug each other. It was unbelievably sad. No family deserved to go through this. When Mrs. Dilaurentis turned to Catelyn and her family, Mr. McKinley and Elijah shook her hand before she turned her attention to Catelyn and smiled warmly at her as she gave her a hug.

"It's so good to see you here, Catelyn. I asked the other girls to sit together up front. It's what Alison would have wanted."

"Of course."

Catelyn gave her a heartwarming smile before she turned back to her family and nodded at them as they sat in one of the benches while Catelyn proceeded to go up. The other four girls sat on the bench together, staring at Alison's smiling picture with bright colored flowers all around her casket. Catelyn still couldn't believe that she was gone. There was no denying that Alison was strong, and with that strength came many enemies along the way. Perhaps her killer was here in the church, or they got out of Rosewood a year ago after she disappeared. Who knows?

When Catelyn felt something gently take her hand, she looked to see that it was Aria's hand as Aria gave her a sorrowful smile, and Catelyn returned the favor. The girls made room for Catelyn as she sat next to Aria at the end of the bench.

"Poor Ali." Hanna said. "Can you believe what a scene this is?"

"Alison would have loved it." Aria chimed in.

"Popular in life and in death." Spencer said.

Catelyn smiled at the thought as she replied, "What do you guys think she would say now?"

"That there aren't enough cameras to get her closeup."

Catelyn and Spencer looked at each other and chuckled for a moment, but they stopped right away when they heard Emily, "You guys shouldn't talk about her like that."

"It's ok, Em." Catelyn defended. "I'm sure Alison would have wanted us to have fun like we used to."

Emily sighed and shook her head, not wanting to argue. Hanna, meanwhile, took out a flask from her clutch and tried to give it to Emily. She looked down at it and shook her head again.

"No thanks. I don't-"

"Today, I think you do."

Emily took it willingly, and the next thing they knew, a cell phone rang. Catelyn looked to see Aria shuffling through her bag, digging out her phone. When she flipped it open, Catelyn watched Aria read the message, but Catelyn couldn't tell who it was from. Her nerves shook, and she was worried that it may have been A after the cryptic message was sent to her about Jason.

"Anyone we know?" Hanna asked Aria.

Aria shook her head and replied, "No. It's just my mom sending me a text." When Aria looked to see all of the girl's faces, including Catelyn's, it became clear to Catelyn what happened as Aria asked the question for her, "Emily and I aren't the only ones who got messages from A, are we?"

Before Catelyn had time to respond, Spencer turned around and muttered, "oh my God. It's Jenna."

All of the girls turned to see their classmate walking with a boy arm in arm. Her black glasses covered her eyes over the prank they did to her a long time ago. Now Jenna blind, and it made Catelyn feel awful, especially since she knew the truth of what Alison tried to do to her.

When the girls turned back around, Mrs. Dilaurentis sat down on the bench beside theirs as did Jason. Catelyn didn't want to look at him, because she was worried that someone would be too suspicious of them, even though they weren't seeing each other anymore. She was just glad that his mother sat in between them. However, she knew that Jason stared at her when she wasn't looking.

"Did you see that Jenna Marshall was here? I didn't realize that she and Ali were friends."

"They weren't." Spencer said to Mrs. Dilaurentis.

Catelyn turned her attention to the priest as he went in front of Alison's casket with a bible in his hand. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away."

By the time the ceremony finished, Catelyn walked with the girls outside. They were then stopped by an agent, who strode with purpose as he called their names.

"I'm Detective Wilden. I understand you were all good friends with the victim."

"Yeah, we were." Aria said.

"I'm gonna need to talk to each and every one of you."

Catelyn's nerves resurfaced as she wondered why he would want to talk to them all individually, so she felt the need to ask, "Why would we need to? We talked to the police the night Alison disappeared."

"And I intend to go over every one of your statements."

Spencer stared at him and pressed even further, "Are you saying you're going to interrogate us? We already gave our statements. We had nothing to do with it."

"And I'm not saying that any of you did, but this is now a murder investigation. Not a missing person's case anymore. Everyone is a suspect now. Rest assured, I will find out what happened that summer."

As he turned to walk away, the girls looked around at the people, watching them hug each other while others left. When the girls huddled into a group, Aria asked, "Do you think he knows about-?"

"No. How could he?" Hanna answered.

Catelyn knew exactly what they were talking about. After all, she was part of the group, so it was only natural. Before anyone could have said anything else, all of their phones rang. They went into their purses and clutches to pull their phones out. Catelyn flipped hers open and nearly gasped when she saw that A left her another message, and it was clear to her that the girls received one too as their eyes widened.

"I'm still here bitches." Spencer began but the girls finished the message, "And I know everything. - A"
