Now, whether you like the movie or my stories, I hope you enjoy this story!
Prince Frederick Charlton - Austin North. Princess Catherine Grimaldi - Anya Taylor Joy(Brunette).
Frederick was reading a novel in his bedroom when a knock sounded from his door.
"Come in," He called out, not looking up as he expected it to just be someone to clean his room.
"Freddy, thank goodness you were here when I came," He looked up and saw his best friend, Catherine. "I have the most marvelous news!"
"What is it?" He asked, standing to meet her in the middle of the room, where she was practically bouncing in her spot.
"My mother allowed me to spend Christmas in Aldovia!" Catherine exclaimed, a big grin on her face. Frederick couldn't help but notice her that her nose was pink from the cold, and he thought it was adorable.
"Really?" Frederick questioned, amused by his friend's excitement. He noticed that her hair, dark and long, had a bit of a shine to it, probably from melted snow.
"So long as I accompany Emily during her lessons, if they can find a new governess who can handle her," Catherine joked, making Frederick chuckle.
"I truly do not know who could possess such patience," He joked along with her, his heart jumping at the sound of her laugh.
"We better go tell her, she'll be excited, she loves when I sit in on her tutorings," Catherine decided, leading him out of the room, with a hand on his wrist.
Catherine and Frederick had bumped into Emily on the way to find her. As expected, Emily was also very thrilled to know that Catherine would be joining her.
Emily then gave them very exciting news, apparently her and Frederick's brother had returned from his travels.
So now, the three of them were making their way to the study, where Queen Helena and Prince Richard stood, with Mrs. Averill and an unknown blonde woman.
"Richard!" Emily called out, delighted to see him.
"There you are, my little imp," Richard greeted, cheerfully.
"I am not an imp," Emily pouted.
"Yes, you are," Richard told her, walking up to her and swinging her around. "You're a little imp!"
Catherine was giggling as she watched them, and Frederick was laughing as well.
"Richard put her down!" Queen Helena ordered. "Put her down, Richard!"
"As you wish, Your Majesty," Richard grunted, setting her down.
"Hey there, Richard," Frederick called out, making his brother aware that the two were still standing in the doorway.
"Hello, Frederick, nice to see you," Richard smiled. "And Catherine, it seems you've managed to pull my brother away from his books."
"It wasn't easy," Catherine giggled, seeing the blush on Frederick's face.
"I am not a china doll, Mother," Emily complained.
"You'll mind me just the same. If anything were to happen to you…" Queen Helena said.
"Mother doesn't let me do anything but study and go to the loo," Emily told Richard.
"Incorrect, she also lets you eat meals, if she doesn't think the stairs are too hard to handle," Frederick told her, earning a scolding look from his mother.
"Well, now I do feel sorry for you," Richard mocked her.
"Beard looks awful, by the way," Queen Helena brought up.
"Yes, you do look like a derelict Santa Claus," Emily commented.
"Or a common drifter," Catherine chimed in.
"Yes, I only grew it so I wouldn't be recognized," Richard defended himself. "And it appears to be doing the trick." He said, looking over at the blonde woman.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my palace?" Emily asked, rudely.
"Emily, manners," Queen Helena reprimanded her.
"Yes, yes, but who are you?" Frederick asked as well.
"She's your new tutor from Minnesota," Mrs. Averill explained. "And considering Princess Catherine's presence, I presume hers as well."
"I'm Amb… I am Martha Anderson," Martha waved. Frederick and Catherine shared a skeptical look from the way the woman had introduced herself. "So pleased to meet you, Emily."
"You are supposed to call me 'Your Royal Highness'," Emily said, blandly.
"Lovely to meet you Miss Anderson," Catherine smiled, putting a hand on Emily's shoulder.
"Don't they teach you anything at tutor school?" Emily asked, ignoring the look that Frederick gave her.
"You'll be starting your lessons right away, Emily," Queen Helena pronounced.
"But it's almost Christmas," Emily complained. "I'm sure Catherine doesn't want to stay stuck in a room being tutored." Catherine could only offer a shrug in response, making Emily sigh.
"I hope Miss Anderson lasts longer than your previous tutor," Queen Helena said.
"Place your bets," Richard whispered.
"Maybe a day," Frederick murmured to them.
"She seems nice enough," Catherine said, sweetly. "Which means she may not be able to handle Emily."
"I actually like mice," Martha told them, quieting them down for a moment.
"Mrs. Averill, would you show Miss Anderson to her new quarters, please?" Queen Helena requested.
"Of course, Your Majesty," Mrs. Averill bowed.
Martha smiled awkwardly, walking backwards, and Catherine frowned seeing where she was headed.
Martha then backed into a vase, making it fall and crash to the ground.
Frederick snorted, and Catherine slapped his arm but had her own amused smile she was trying to conceal.
"I am so, so sorry. Was this expensive or…" Martha stuttered.
"Only 15th century Ming porcelain," Queen Helena frowned. The four younger royals were trying hard not to laugh.
"Ugly porcelain too," Frederick muttered, earning a frown from his mother.
"I am so sorry," Martha grimaced, before rushing out of the room with Mrs. Averill. As she left, Catherine struggled not to laugh, and she noticed that Richard, Emily and Frederick were doing the same.
That night, Catherine was inside Frederick's room again, before bed. The bedroom she usually stayed in when she was in Aldovia, was just the one next door, but she liked Frederick's room.
They were very used to each other's presence, having been friends since childhood.
Usually before bed, Catherine was much less rambunctious, but she was being very hyper right now.
She was pacing in front of Frederick's bed, where he sat reading a book.
"Miss Anderson was acting incredibly weird right?" Catherine questioned.
"Uh-huh, of course," Frederick responded.
"She looked really nervous and guilty the whole time she was talking," Catherine decided.
"Definitely," Frederick responded, Catherine stopped pacing and turned to him, and realized he was ignoring her.
"Frederick!" Catherine pouted, making him look up.
"What?" He asked.
"You are not even listening to me," Catherine complained, walking over to sit beside him.
"Of course I was, you believe that Miss Anderson was acting oddly," Frederick shrugged.
"Lucky guess," Catherine rolled her eyes. "What are you reading?"
"A book about german fairy tales," Frederick responded, looking back to it.
"Would you read out loud?" Catherine wondered, puppy dog eyes staring at him.
"Fine, fine, if I must," He sighed, dramatically, making her giggle.
They both lay back, beside each other, on the bed. Frederick began reading, his voice quiet and calm, while Catherine listened keenly.
Before long Catherine had fallen asleep, when Frederick finally noticed he stopped reading. He put down the book and got up to turn off the light. He came back and laid down, leaving a bit of room between the two of them, and fell into a sound sleep.
