A/N: I literally thought this up and wrote the premise in about an hour and a half, so sorry if the opening is so short. If you've ever played the PS2 game, Area 51, you know basically what's going on here. That is all I will say.

RWBY: Operation Remnant

Outbreak

In the year 0898, the kingdoms came into contact with with an unknown entity. It was not from their world. It was violent, and hostile to all life.

They named it Grimm.

Dozens of soldiers died in the attempt to kill it. They succeeded, but barely.

To ensure that they would be prepared for such a threat in the future the kingdoms came together and formed the Alliance. They set up a secret military base in the wilds of Sanus, far from the Desert Kingdom of Vacuo, to study what little there was of the creature's remains. For in death, it largely faded away in smoke and black vapor.

Over the years a dozen more isolated cases of the Grimm were discovered. All were as hostile as the first. Their remains were transferred to the hidden base, buried deep under below the desert's sands.

Over a hundred years have passed and Technology has evolved by leaps and bounds. There is global communications and flying ships. There is high tech, pulse weaponry and mechs. Robots and A.I..

And, soon, there will be space travel.

But, something has happened at the old base, buried deep in Sanus's desert. Communication with the deepest levels has been cut off. There are rumors of an attack, of a breach. Of a possible outbreak of some kind.

The Kingdom Alliance sent in two teams of elite soldiers. None have returned. Communications are still down.

The Alliance leadership is getting desperate. The civilians cannot be allowed to discover what has happened at the base. And whatever is there cannot be allowed to escape.

They are sending a third team. They have but one objective.

Discover what has happened at the base and end the threat, by any means necessary.

A/N: Once more sorry for so short an opening chapter, but this was just to set up the premise. Trust me, the next chapter will be longer. I promise. And, like a certain Arc, I always keep my word, at least when it comes to this.

essiter out.
