"Do you have a name?"

Of course he had a name, everyone has a name. However, he couldn't recall it. Any time he stopped to think about it, a piercing headache racked his skull. It was like that memory was stripped from him, but why? It just didn't make sense.

"I said, do you have a name?"

That same question again. What did this guy have to do with him? Why should he tell him anything? It's not like he knew the guy.

"Why should I tell you?"

The guy before him just shook his head and stood up from across the table the two found themselves at.

"I don't think you understand the situation you find yourself in. You're the prime suspect for attempted theft against the Galactic Empire. Do you have any idea what we can do to scum like you?"

Wait, he was accused of a crime? How? Why couldn't he remember?

"What are you talking about? I haven't done anything like that. I'm innocent I tell you!"

"Is that so? I know an innocent person when I see them, and you don't look innocent. In fact, I would wager that you're trying to cover for someone."

What did he mean he didn't look innocent? This was absurd, he was a law abiding citizen. There was no way he could commit such a crime, could he?

"If you really are innocent, why not submit to a test?"

The older man couldn't help but smirk at this suggestion. Of course the suspect would agree to the test, they always do. It was their only hope after all. However, this test always proved to make the Empire right, the criminals just didn't know this.

"What do you say? Want to prove your innocence? This is your only way."

The man currently sitting at the table could only let out a breath in shock at the mention of a test to prove his innocence. Of course, this was his chance to free himself of the accusations. Only an idiot would pass up this opportunity.

"Okay, I'll take the test."

"You made the right choice, kid."

With a snap of his gloved fingers, the door to their right slide open and a solid black floating droid floated in. The machine being held aloft by a small propulsion turbine located at the base of its spherical body.

"Administer the serum, IT-0441"

At the man's request, the small droid no larger then 0.3 meters floated over to the man currently sitting. With a small hum and whistle, a thin metallic like arm protruded from its round body. The tip of which contained a syringe filled with a golden liquid, rounded off with a sharp needle. Once the needle was shown it wasted no time in jabbing it into the man's arm, injecting the liquid in haste.

The first thing the sitting man felt was the sharp stabbing of the needle piercing his skin, then the burning sensation of the liquid entering his body. His blue eyes bulged in his skull. His skin tightening, as his heart beat faster and faster. His body raked with pain as he rocked in his chair. It was like his entire body was on fire, ready to just give up on life itself. Then it was over, all of the pain he was just experiencing, it was gone. Almost like it had never existed.

"Now, what is your name?"

It was that question again. He had to answer him, it was the only way to prove his innocence now. Then it dawned on him, his name. Something so simple, yet, it had slipped his mind until just now.

"It's Kaylath, sir."

It was those words that allowed the standing man to know he had won in the end.

"Did you commit that robbery?'

"Y...Yes, I did. I attempted to steal from the Empire." Kaylath stuttered.

An admission of guilt, of course it was. They always admitted it with this serum. It was all in a day's work for this ISB Officer.

"Now we're getting somewhere. What's your last name?"

"I can't remember it. It's just a blur to me."

"So, he really can't remember it?" the man thought to himself as he towered above the man currently restrained to his chair. No matter, he got what he wanted, and now it was time to finish this.

"If that's the case, I guess I will just have to take your word for this, Kaylath. However, you just confessed to the crime of attempted theft."

Kaylath couldn't believe it, did he really confess to the crime? If he was responsible, why couldn't he recollect any of the details surrounding it? It was all blank.

"What happens to me now?"

The man raised his glove hand to his pale skin as if to ponder the question.

"What would happen to this boy? If he were lucky, he would face his end by firing squad. A quick and painless death." That was what the ISB Officer thought silently to himself.

"Since you decided to cooperate with me, I'll try to gain you some leniency with the court. You may escape the noose, but you'll likely face some prison time. Most likely at a minimal security prison."

Kaylath could only sit there in silence as he listened to the man speak. He supposed some prison time was better then being executed for a crime he couldn't remember.

"Since this is your first offense, you may even just get a fine."

"Wait, just a fine?" Kaylath thought to himself as he took in the new information.

"If you'll excuse me, I'll need to present the evidence to the proper officials in order to set up your court date. This will only take a couple of minutes at the most."

With those final words, the man walked out of the room, followed closely by OT-0441. The metal doors slid closed behind the pair leaving Kaylath to sit in silence. Awaiting his fate.
