(AN) Hello and welcome to the next chapter of Captain Grimes; hope you all enjoy.
In the last chapter, Amy finally reported her former mentor/captain, but was then subjected to a physical assault by several officers.
Forgot to establish that the officers were patrol officers; that's been fixed.

Chapter Three
Over at Captain Holt's house, the 99 captain and Kevin were sitting in the living room; Cheddar snoring on Kevin's lap. Holt had just finished telling Kevin about Grimes.
"That's truly awful," remarked a shocked Kevin, "Poor Amy."
"I know," lamented Holt, "The one bright side is that she has now reported him, so that will hopefully be the end of Grimes."
"Do you feel sad that your friendship is over?" asked his husband curiously.
"A little bit," admitted Holt, "He was a good mentor to me, but I can't forgive him for what he's done."
Holt's phone suddenly rang. Holt pulled it out and saw that Jake was calling. "Sorry, this might be important." he apologised.
Holt got up and answered the phone. "Peralta?" he said calmly.
"Captain, Amy was attacked by some 64 officers when she was coming back to the apartment!" cried a panicked sounding Jake.
"What!" cried Holt in horror, "Is Santiago alright?"
"She was beaten up and pepper sprayed," explained Jake, still sounding panicky, "The doctors are examining her now."
"What hospital are you at?" asked Holt.
"NYU Langone Hospital," answered Jake, "I've told the others and I decided to call her parents."
"Okay, just stay calm; she'll be okay," assured Holt in his usual tone, which never gave any assurance, "I'm heading over now."
"Thanks, Captain." thanked Jake.
Holt ended the call, he then went and placed his jacket on before turning to face Kevin. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to go to the hospital: Amy's been attacked."
Kevin simply nodded. Holt left without saying a word.
Over at NYU Langone Hospital, Jake was pacing up and down the waiting room, desperate for news on Amy. The doors to the room opened and Rosa raced in, followed by Terry, Charles, Hitchcock and Scully. Rosa ran over to Jake and gave him a hug, much to the detective's surprise.
"Hey, any news yet?" asked Rosa.
"Nothing," replied Jake, "I called her parents, but I only told them that Amy had been attacked; think that's Amy's story to tell."
"Grimes must've sent those officers to attack Amy and convince her to drop the complaint," suggested Charles in a grave voice, "I mean, who else could it be. You need to sort him out, Jake; defend your wife's honor: like David Sulmer Straw Dogs."
"WHAT! No, Charles, why would you even say that!" snapped a frustrated Jake, who also sounded a bit offended, "Amy doesn't need more violence right now: what she needs is for me to be there for her; secondly, this is no time for incorrect movie references and lastly, never and I mean NEVER let Amy hear you say that! Amy doesn't need defending and she really hates that movie; so do I!"
"Oh … sorry, Jake." muttered Charles.
Holt suddenly entered the area, looking serious. "Any news yet?" he asked.
"Nope." sighed Jake.
A female nurse came through another door and approached the group. "Family of Amy Santiago?" she asked.
"I'm her husband," said a panicky Jake as he approached the woman, "How is she?"
"Physically, she'll be fine," answered the woman gently, "Your wife suffered some minor bruising and lacerations as well as a cracked rib, but there's no signs of any brain damage or internal bleeding."
"Can we go in and see her?" asked the detective.
"Yes, she's resting comfortably now," replied the nurse, "Five minutes only though."
"Thank you." said Jake.
The nurse smiled before walking away.
Amy was currently sitting in a hospital bed and wearing a hospital gown. She had several stitches on her face and a plaster on her nose. The sergeant's vision was starting to return, though it was a bit blurry due to her contacts being thrown out.
Jake entered the room, followed by the others. "Ames, thank God. Are you okay?" he asked as he came over and gave his wife a light hug.
"Humiliated, a bit shaken and sore, but I'll be okay," assured Amy quietly, "T-this isn't as bad as it looks."
"This isn't your fault, babe, you're allowed to feel angry and upset." assured Jake in a comforting manner before letting go, pulling up a nearby seat and sitting next to the bed, he then held Amy's hand in his hand.
"Peralta's right," added Holt, "The only person at fault here is John Grimes. Now, if it's not too difficult, do you mind explaining what happened?"
"Well, I'd gone out to get pizza for me and Jake a-and just as I was approaching the apartment building, I found myself surrounded by these officers: four male; two female," began Amy, "One of them said they were looking for a rat and another one said they'd found her. I … I tried to run, but two of them grabbed me and one of them punched me in the face, then the stomach, then another one pepper sprayed me in the eyes. I-I was thrown to the ground and they all started punching and kicking me. J-Jake then came out and got the officers to stop. One of them told him to convince me to drop the complaint."
Amy suddenly choked back a sob. Jake wrapped his arms around her in a hug. The others were all wearing expressions of anger and disgust.
"You did great, Santiago," said Holt gently before turning to the others, "Come on, let's give these two some space."
As one, Holt and the others filed out of the room and returned to the waiting area.
"So, are these officers definitely from the 64?" questioned Terry.
"I have no doubt in my mind," growled Holt darkly, "The only people who are aware of the complaint are us, the 64 and IA and they can't just be from some random precinct."
"What do we do now?" asked Rosa, "I'd say just leave me alone with that asshole for five minutes and I'll get a confession out of him!"
"No," said the 99 captain bluntly, "As Jake said, Amy does not need any more violence. I'm going to call IA and let them know about this, and as Peralta and Santiago are benched, I would like you and Jeffords to work with IA to try and bring Grimes down."
Soon after, Jake was still sitting with Amy when the door to the room opened and Victor stepped in, followed by Camila.
"You called my parents!" cried Amy in shock.
"Of course Jake called us," said Camila as she came over and hugged her precious daughter, "He said you were attacked by other police officers."
"Was it racial profiling!" snarled Victor angrily.
"No," replied Amy, "I-I reported Captain John Grimes for trying to kiss me when I made detective and for pinching my bottom yesterday."
"W-what?" asked Camila in shock, "Captain Grimes? As in your first captain."
"Yeah," muttered the sergeant, "He felt he'd earned it for helping me become a detective."
"What!" cried Victor in disgust, "Is that why you really transferred to the 99?"
"Yeah," replied Amy, "I never reported him because I was worried there'd be no promotions and I never told anybody because a part of me felt like I didn't deserve it. And before you ask, I didn't feel I could tell you guys because I was worried Dad would do something stupid and that you'd think I'd not earned it."
"I wouldn't have done something stupid," insisted Victor sheepishly, "I'd have just wanted a nice, little chat."
"And I know I like to pick favourites, but that doesn't mean I don't care." added Camila.
The brunette then shared a hug with her parents.
The next day in the bullpen, Terry, Charles and Holt were sitting at their desks, still trying to process everything that had unfolded. The elevator pinged and the doors slid open, allowing Rosa to step out. Terry walked over to her. "So, have you heard from Jake and Amy?"
"Yeah, Amy was discharged this morning," informed Rosa, "Jake told Holt that he's taking the next few days off to help Amy. Still can't believe this happened."
"It sucks," sighed Terry, "Terry's been feeling guilty: been wondering to myself if I should've found out a lot sooner about Amy's transfer, then maybe things would've been different."
"I've been feeling guilty too," replied the female detective, "I shouldn't have gotten heated with her when she was trying to convince that woman to not drop her complaint; should've noticed something was bothering her."
"Well, I might as well join the guilt train," remarked Charles, "I'm starting to feel that me telling Amy that I could hear wedding bells on her first day at the 99."
"You're just now starting to see how inappropriate that was." groaned Rosa.
"Okay, we need to halt this guilt train," declared Holt as he approached, "I've been thinking the same things as Jeffords and Diaz: that I should've noticed that the case was bothering Santiago; but I was too distracted with the Disco Strangler. My point is that we shouldn't be beating ourselves up over what happened, our main focus now is to get justice for Sergeant Santiago."
"Me and Diaz are just heading over to begin helping IA," informed the lieutenant, "We'll try to keep you all updated."
"Good to know." replied the 99 captain before returning to his office.
Terry and Rosa arrived at the 64th precinct, where they met up with Internal Affairs Officer Grey. She was a middle-aged woman with long, dirty-blonde hair.
"Ah, you must be Detective Diaz and Lieutenant Jeffords," greeted Grey before shaking their hands, "I'm IA Officer Laura Grey. Your captain informed me of the attack on Sergeant Santiago: Grimes has been suspended until this investigation is concluded, so if he did order the attack on your friend, then he's violated the rules."
"So, what's the plan?" asked Rosa curiously.
"Separate interviews with all other members of the precinct will be conducted by us," informed Laura, "Hopefully, we can identify the patrol officers that attacked Sergeant Santiago."
The trio entered the bullpen of the precinct, where they found all officers waiting for them. Brian Fox, the 64 lieutenant, was serving as acting captain. He was a young man with sandy hair. Fox the trio before turning to address the room at large.
"Attention everybody," began Brian, "As you all know, Captain Grimes has been temporarily suspended pending an investigation into serious allegations made against him by Sergeant Amy Santiago of the 99th precinct. You will all be interviewed separately, so I expect you to give them your full cooperation: is that understood?"
"Yes, sir." said the rest of the officers in unison.
And so the interviews began. Terry, Rosa and Laura each did one-one interviews with a different officer in the 64 interrogation room: they asked the patrol officers where they had been the night before, and while most of them were perfectly willing to account for their whereabouts, six of them: four male; two female, were unwilling to give any information. Unbeknownst to the trio, these were the six officers that had attacked Amy. The last interview was between Terry and Ben.
"So, Sergeant, according to a few of your colleagues, you were here on duty on the night of October 27, 2009, is this correct?" asked Terry calmly.
"That is correct." replied Ben.
"Do you recall Sergeant Santiago coming into the bullpen at 7:30PM?" asked Terry.
"Yeah, I remember," replied Ben before sighing, "Amy came running in, looking really alarmed. I asked her what was wrong, but she just angrily brushed me off and I saw her ordering a transfer."
"Those next few days must've been tough." said Terry.
"It was a nightmare," commented the sergeant, "Grimes kept trying to talk to Amy, but she just ignored him or snapped at him. I always assumed Grimes had done or said something to upset her, but I never imagined this attempted kissing thing."
"So you believe that Amy's telling the truth?" asked the 99 lieutenant.
"I'm not sure," answered the 64 sergeant, "I want to believe that it was a big misunderstanding, but I'm not so sure now. Thinking about it, that's not the first time somebody's left and been frosty towards the captain."
"What do you mean?" asked Terry curiously.
"Well, a few years before Amy arrived, there was another female detective, Sandra Henderson, who left, and I remember things being just as frosty between them as well; never really thought about it till now. I did try asking Grimes about it, but he just got super pissed. He may act all nice and charming, but that guy does have a very bad temper underneath."
"I see," said a shocked Terry, "Well, that's enough questioning for now."
Terry stood up and exited the interrogation room.
The 99 lieutenant entered the 64 bullpen and approached Rosa and Laura.
"I've finished with Sergeant Shepherd: I don't think most of them realised a thing, though Sergeant Shepherd did mention that there was another female detective, Sandra Henderson, who also left under mysterious circumstances."
"I'll have a look into that." said Laura curiously.
"I'm going to contact Amy and see if she can identify any of these patrol officers as her attackers." informed Rosa.
Over at Jake and Amy's apartment, Amy was sitting on the sofa and doing the crossword when suddenly, her laptop started beeping. The brunette saw that she was getting a video message from Rosa on Zoom and so accepted it. Rosa was sitting at her desk in the 99 bullpen.
"Hey, Rosa, what's up?" asked Amy.
"Me, Terry and IA Officer Grey interviewed everybody at the 64 and it seems that you're not the only one who left under mysterious circumstances: another female detective suddenly left under mysterious circumstances."
"Oh my god." cried Amy in shock, just as Jake walked through from the kitchen with a nice cup of coffee.
"For you, m'lady." said Jake as he handed Amy the coffee.
"Aww, thank you." said the brunette, grinning.
"Hey, Rosa," greeted Jake as he sat down next to Amy, "I overheard what you were saying: does this mean that Amy might not be Grimes' only victim?"
"Yeah, it's highly possible," replied Rosa gruffly, "Looks like the dumb-dumbs at the 64 didn't find it suspicious. Anyway, I need to show you these pictures of the patrol officers from the 64, so that you can identify the ones that attacked you; you up for that?"
"Yeah, sure." replied Amy.
Rosa then pulled a folder out and began flipping through it; showing photos of the various 64 patrol officers. After a minute, Amy managed to point out the six officers that attacked her.
"Can't I come and help on the case," pleaded the brunette, "It feels so weird that you're doing this big thing without me."
"Oh God, she's gone into FOMO mode." drawled Rosa.
"Yeah, Ames, you're the victim, so obviously you can't get involved," pointed out Jake, "Besides, as I've said, I'm benched as well and I want to be here for you."
"I know, and I love you for it, but I just want to help." said Amy.
There was suddenly a knock at the apartment door. Jake went over and answered the door, where he found Sam standing in the corridor.
"What do you want, Walsh?" asked Jake.
"Jake, I simply want to talk to Amy," answered Sam earnestly, "I just want to understand what's really happening."
"What's happening is that your boss sent some of his officers to attack my wife!" spat Jake defensively, "You say Amy's your friend, then why won't you believe her!"
"Jake, just let him in." said Amy as she walked up behind her husband.
"You should still be resting," said Jake gently as he turned to face his wife before looking back at Sam, "Alright, but don't try to change her mind!"
Jake gently led Amy through to the living room; Sam following close behind. Jake sat next to Amy, while Sam sat on the opposite chair.
"Oh hey there, dumb-dumb!" snarked Rosa.
"Rosa!" snapped a stern Amy.
"I'm not dumb." argued Sam.
"Pretty dumb for not noticing that two detectives had left in the exact same manner." retorted Rosa.
"Bye, Rosa." said Amy before ending the call; ignoring Rosa's protests, "So, Sam, what do you want to know?"
"I want to know your side of the story." said Sam.
Amy was about to open her mouth when suddenly, there came a loud banging on the apartment door.
"Did you bring somebody with you?" asked Jake nervously.
"Nope." answered Sam as the banging continued.
"Peralta, Santiago, open up at once!" barked Grimes' voice as the door handle suddenly rattled.
The trio looked at each other nervously. Suddenly, the door flew open and Grimes stormed in; his face red with rage.
(AN) And that's it for this chapter of Captain Grimes; hope you all enjoyed.
The next chapter will be the pnultimate penultimate chapter, where revelations will come to light.
Until then, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out.
