Code Geass: Sabrina of the Salvation

Chapter 3: Zero's Debut

Sabrina sat in a bench in a park, staring at a lantern that was flicking a bit.

The young red haired girl wore a black crop-top under a dark teal hoodie which was unzipped at the bottom, leaving her belly button exposed, dark blue denim shorts with fur around the bottom edges and black below-the-knee boots. Her crimson red hair was tied up in a high ponytail using a black ribbon.

Suzaku Kururugi had been framed and arrested for the murder of Prince Clovis.

She actually wanted to stop Lelouch from killing Clovis, but knew letting the 3rd Prince of Britannia will still cause him to tell the Emperor of Lelouch and Nunnally's survival and their whereabouts.

"You can't change everything. That's what the Caretaker of Spacetime. No doubt that Lila and Lady Gabrielle are in grief at the moment of Clovis' death."Sabrina thought in disappointment."The only thing I could focus now is preventing Lelouch from poisoning his relationships with his friends, the family members that care about him and his comrades. Especially, Nunnally. The last thing she would expect is invited war to her door when she was enjoying seven years of peace. But I can at least do is her ended up being used and opposing against Lelouch."

"Meow~"

Sabrina snapped out of her thoughts when she saw a small yet starving looking kitten looking down at her.

The kitten was a female with white fur and bright blue eyes with long lashes. Her nose and paw pads are light pink, and she had four whiskers on either side of her face.

Sabrina carefully picked up the small kitten.

"Aw, you must hungry."Sabrina assumed."Don't worry. I live nearby. Let me take you home."

Sabrina went behind a tree before glancing at each side to make sure she wasn't watched.

Then a yellow glowing bird-like symbol appeared on her right eye before she and the kitten disappeared from sight.

In Ashford Academy…

Lelouch carefully helped Nunnally out of her wheelchair and place her on her bed.

"That was Suzaku they mentioned on the news, wasn't it?"Nunnally asked.

"Yeah."Lelouch agreed."It sounds that Suzaku's still alive."

Lelouch placed the blanket over Nunnally's body before sitting on the chair near the bed.

"We've been apart since the war ended."Nunnally commented and looked at Lelouch."Hey, Lelouch?"

"Yes?"Lelouch asked.

"The news report wasn't true, was it?"Nunnally questioned.

"It wasn't."Lelouch answered."Suzaku would never do anything like that. There must've been some kind of mistake."

Lelouch gently grasped Nunnally's hand.

"Yeah."Nunnally responded."It must be."

Nunnally then drifted to sleep as Lelouch quietly looked at her.

"Good night, Nunnally."Lelouch answered.

In her own private bedroom in Ashford Academy, Sabrina wore an indigo pyjama t-shirt with matching pants.

When she was dressed for bed, she gave the kitten a bowl of salmon fish to eat.

"It's salmon."Sabrina exclaimed with a smile."Go ahead and eat."

The kitten sniffed the sliced fishes before she joyfully began eating them.

A light chuckle escaped from Sabrina's mouth.

"You're a cute kitten."Sabrina complemented."I'm going to call you, Isolde."

Sabrina placed a large pink bow around the kitten's neck and another pink bow which was smaller, decorating a tuft of fur on her head.

"That will show people you're not a stray kitten."Sabrina chuckled."Just needed someone to look after you, that's all."

Sabrina fell silent at what she just said before she rested on her bed and looked at the ceiling.

Isolde let out a meow before jumping onto the bed and snuggling next to Sabrina.

A small smile formed on Sabrina's face as she gently stroked Isolde's tummy before she placed off the lantern and the two of them drifted to sleep.

At the Government Bureau of Area 11…

Jeremiah turned his seat around to speak to Diethard about Suzaku's execution.

"His Highness' memorial program was handled very well."Jeremiah complemented."A bit too weepy for my tastes…"

"Your Excellency, the masses enjoy a tearjerker."Diethard replied.

"Spoken like a true TV man."Jeremiah declared."Still, I acknowledge your skills. You did well in the short time that you had. One would almost think you were expecting His Highness to die."

Diethard bowed at Jeremiah.

"I'm afraid it's quite common to have memorial programs prepared for important people."Diethard stated.

"For me as well?"Diethard asked."After this, we may make one for you, Your Excellency."

A smirk sprung on Jeremiah's face.

"Meaning I wasn't important enough to rate one until now."Jeremiah sneered."Honest of you."

"I'm afraid so."Diethard replied.

"Feel like joining the army?"Jeremiah asked."We have a need for information officers."

"I have to admit that I'm not up to that job."Diethard declared."It's not for me."

"You prefer a civilian network? No matter."Jeremiah answered."I have another favour to ask of you. Tomorrow night, Suzaku Kururugi will be transferred to his court material."

"Let's get a lot of patriotic Britannians to line the roadside."Diethard suggested.

"It's helpful that you catch up so quickly."Jeremiah responded and looked at Villetta."Be sure his face can be seen clearly in the convoy."

"Lord Jeremiah, there are some among the Elevens, who see Private Kururugi as a hero."Villetta informed."Some groups may be thinking of freeing him."

Jeremiah glanced at Kewell.

"Then be sure to provide security personally on your Sutherland, Kewell."Jeremiah instructed."If any troublemakers show up, kill them on the spot."

"Yes, Lord Jeremiah."Kewell answered with a bow.

Back in Ashford Academy…

Lelouch was looking through the internet, trying to see if anything he could learn about Sabrina taking the codename 'Kitsune' while C.C was on the couch in the living room, enjoying some pizza she bought with Sabrina's extra credit card.

The execution of Suzaku was coming near, so he and Sabrina had formed already the plan to rescue him with the help of Kallen and the resistance group that she worked with.

"This is interesting. In Japanese folklore, kitsunes are foxes that possess paranormal abilities that increase as they get older and wiser."Lelouch exclaimed with a smirk, looking at his laptop."According to folklore, the kitsune-foxes (or perhaps the fox spirits) can bewitch people, just like the tanuki, they have the ability to shape shift into human or other forms, and to trick or fool human beings. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others as foxes in folklore often do, other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends and lovers."

A slight chuckle escaped from C.C's face.

"That explains why Sabrina chose that codename."C.C replied and ate another slice of pizza."It suits her."

"Yes."Lelouch answered and frowned."Also, her habit to show up when she wants too."

"Boo!"

Lelouch became startled and fell from where he sat as C.C laughed lightly at the sight.

Sabrina smiled brightly yet mischievously at Lelouch.

"Did you know it's not polite to talk about someone behind their backs, pretty boy."Sabrina remarked."I thought as an exiled prince from the homeland you would be a gentleman."

Lelouch glared at Sabrina in annoyance before simply standing up from he fell.

"My apologises, madam."Lelouch muttered in sarcasm.

Sabrina then handed the former prince a file about Margrave Jeremiah Gottwald.

"What this?"Lelouch questioned.

"Information about Margrave Jeremiah."Sabrina replied."But you should remember him since he served under Cornelia's command as a member of Empress Marianne vi Britannia's Royal Guard."

Lelouch's eyes widen in surprise.

"Jeremiah knew my mother?"Lelouch asked.

Sabrina nodded at Lelouch.

"That's right."Sabrina said with a nod."He was deeply affected after failing to stop your mother's assassination. As a matter of fact, he first came to former Japan to find you and Nunnally when he thought you two were still alive, then serve you both as long as you need."

Lelouch fell silent as he remembered the Royal Guard that was happily escorting him and Nunnally over to the Ashford's residence in Pendragon, chatting with him over simple topics.

"Of course. It is him."Lelouch complemented in realisation."No wonder he looked familiar to me."

C.C looked at Sabrina.

"You seem to speak to very fondly of Jeremiah, Sabrina."C.C declared.

"In future, he is one of my honorary uncles."Sabrina admitted with a smile."But that's a story for another day."

"Since Jeremiah was loyal to my mother, then there is no doubt that he will by highly loyal to me and Nunnally since we are her children."Lelouch exclaimed."He would make a good ally. But first comes to rescuing Suzaku."

"Of course."Sabrina retorted and thought coldly."Though the moment he steps into Ashford Academy alone, he will meet his end."

A slight smirk sprung on C.C's face.

"And that's where your costumes come in, right?"C.C sneered.

This earned Sabrina's direct attention.

"Costumes?"Sabrina said in confusion.

"Oh right."Lelouch responded.

Lelouch brought out a velvet coloured suit case and handed it to Sabrina.

"This is for you, Sabrina."Lelouch exclaimed."I thought you may need one since you have already a codename."

Lelouch handed Sabrina the suitcase before she opened it.

A surprised look appeared on Sabrina's face as she stared at the costume.

"Whoa."Sabrina complemented in amazement."I can't believe you had this made for me."

"You are a saviour and already have your own codename."Lelouch said simply."You deserve it."

Sometime after finishing school, Kallen was on the up on the rooftop of Tokyo Tower.

A place that was one a great Japanese tourist site, now twisted into a display of mindless, brainwashing propaganda that smeared their Japanese history in lies for the hapless Britannians.

Currently, the redhead was speaking with Ohgi upon learning Kitsune's identity.

"So Kitsune is a student in your school?"Ohgi asked.

The leader of the resistance group was obviously rather shocked to hear that Kitsune's identity was that of a school girl, and even more surprised that she went to the same school as Kallen coincidentally.

Kallen nodded in affirmative.

"That's right. She says that she has a deep hatred for Britannia, and despises everything that it stands for."Kallen exclaimed."Also, she said that she and Zero are planning to start a rebellion."

"The man that was on the radio back in Shinjiku."Ohgi muttered to himself.

An unsure and hesitant look appeared on the rebel's face.

"Are you sure that she can be trusted? I mean, what's her motives? Her reasons for saying she wants to fight back against Britannia."Ohgi complemented."Why would a Britannian want to fight back against their own country when they seem to be doing good for themselves since they're going to Ashford Academy of all places?"

"I'm not quite sure myself."Kallen agreed, turning her stiff gaze out towards the sun that was going to set very soon."But that's what this meeting with this 'Zero' will help us figure out."

"I just hope it's not a trap."Ohgi replied alongside her, looking off into the same distance. "We've lost enough people as it is."

Kallen's eyes narrowed a bit, knowing Ohgi was right.

Both fighters and innocent lives had been lost.

Not just her older brother's.

Soon the heiress of the Stadtfeld Household and her companions went inside the schedule train from Harajuku station to the Shinjuku line.

While inside the crowded train, Kallen glanced at each person, wondering which part of the train was Sabrina (or rather Kitsune) as well who was this mysterious Zero.

"Attention, all passengers."A lady in the speaker spoke up."If you see a suspicious item aboard this train, please report it at once to the nearest intercom."

Suddenly, Kallen's phone started ringing earning her attention.

"Hello?"Kallen asked.

"Face forward and look to your right."Zero's voice instructed."What do you see?"

Kallen turned and glanced to the right.

"The Britannian city."Kallen replied."A stolen city built on our sacrifices."

"Now look on the left."Zero ordered.

Kallen turned her gaze to the left.

"I see our city."Kallen answered bitterly."The city made by Britannia squeezing us dry."

"Good answer."Zero declared."Now make your way to the front of the train."

Then Zero hung up, ending the call.

Kallen glanced at her comrades before making her way forward, closely followed by Ohgi, Sugiyama and Yoshida.

The group slowly make their way to the front of the train and eventually saw Kitsune standing near the door that led to where they were supposed to go.

Kitsune wore a dark grey coloured cropped top, matching dark grey shorts and a black belt decorated with a thick purple rope tied into a bow. Over this, she wore a cropped dark purple red and gold-trimmed hooded jacket with a buckle, fingerless dark grey gloves and thigh-high leg wear with red armour plating. Her outfit was decorated with a number of gold and red accents and trinkets and more thick purple ropes, most notably around her chest area. In addition to this, she wore a single samurai plate over her left shoulder. Her crimson red hair was held up in a messy ponytail with a thick dark purplish rope and a dark hairpiece with gold accents.

She removed her mask, revealing her eyes and a dark grey cloth that covered the lower portion of her face to show Kallen it was her.

"Sabrina."Kallen said in awe.

"This way."Kitsune instructed.

Kitsune placed back her mask on and went to the front of the train before Kallen and the others followed her.

Everyone else paused behind, entering as the door hissed open, and eyes widening at what they saw.

It was a person, he was turned away, but he was wearing something regal.

Kitsune stood next to him, not saying anything.

"Tell us! Are you Zero?!"Kallen demanded."The one who ordered the ceasefire in Shinjuku?"

Zero turned around to reveal himself as the train entered into a tunnel, casting an eerie blue light on the figure.

He was dressed in a purple suit wrapped in a pitch black cape that ran down to his legs with a red interior. His face was covered by an odd black mask with a mirrored faceplate and a strange sigil beneath it.

Kallen, Ohgi, Sugiyama and Yoshida immediately realised that the masked being before them was Zero.

"Greetings!"Zero responded."As you may have guessed already, I am Zero. Now, what did you think of my tour of the settlement?"

"Your tour?"Ohgi repeated in confusion.

"Oh, come on."Sugiyama retorted."There's no way it was this joker."

"I wanted you to fully grasp the two."Zero continued."The Settlement…"

Zero raised his left hand, finally revealing what he had under the cape, a dark purple suit.

"And the Tokyo slums."Zero finished.

Zero raised the other arm.

Ohgi stepped forward, realising what Zero meant.

"Yeah, we get it. There's a difference between us and them. A very harsh one."Ohgi agreed with a determined look."That's why we resist them."

"I can see your reason."Zero said with a nod."But you're also wrong. Britannia will not fall to wanton acts of terrorism. It's a little bit better than childish nuisance."

"Fall?"Ohgi responded.

"You're calling us a bunch of kids?!"Yoshida scowled.

"Britannia is a state dominated by competition and the survival of the fittest socially speaking. Due to the presence and dominance that Social Darwinism has on Britannian society, the Britannian people are an uber-capitalistic, consumer obsessed, and competitive society with corporations having large amounts of influence over imperial society."Zero explained."However, your enemy is not the civilians, but the corrupt empire of Britannia itself. Come join me and together we'll create a world where the strong shall not remain over the weak."

Kallen glared at Zero.

"Oh please, that's all easy enough to say, isn't it?"Kallen retorted."Hiding behind that mask, why should we even trust you?"

"She's right!"Sugiyama snapped."Lose the mask!"

"Right, are you going to show us your face or not?"Ohgi questioned.

"I would show my face to you all, but for now it should be remain hidden for your own protection."Zero declared."So instead of my face, I'll let you bear witness to the power that I have received. If I deliver to you the impossible, then I might have earned."

There were many people gathered around the Tokyo Settlement bridge to see Suzaku being executed.

Among the crowd was a seventeen year old boy with greyish black hair and cyan blue eyes known as Mario Garfield (or rather Mario Dōmeki).

Mario glanced at the people around him and saw they were angrily yelling to see Suzaku executed.

"Neither of them didn't know Clovis personally and still want his death avenged because he was a prince of the royal family."Mario thought with a hint of disgust."To think the appointed place would be Suzaku Kururugi's transfer convoy route."

Soon, the Pure Bloods arrived with Suzaku, who said nothing as the crowd yelled at him to see him executed.

Jeremiah smirked triumphantly while standing on his Sutherland.

He had chosen Suzaku Kururugi, the son of the last Prime Minister of Japan as scapegoat he could sacrifice to further the Pureblood cause, but also a symbol whose execution could dishearten and demoralise the Eleven Populace.

Also, he would make sure the Elevens remembered their place when he executed their hero on live television.

Suddenly, a soldier contacted Jeremiah causing him to go out of his thoughts.

"Lord Jeremiah, checkpoint three has intercepted a suspicious vehicle."A soldier reported.

"Oh, really?"Jeremiah questioned."Can you describe the vehicle?"

"Sir, it looks like Prince Clovis' car!"the soldier declared."And it's heading straight for the cavalcade!"

"What?!"Jeremiah said in disbelief.

Jeremiah and the others looked ahead to see that from the opposite side of the bridge, a small royal designed vehicle rolls on the highway without escorts.

Kallen was dressed as a chauffeur and had a visor over her eyes.

She was the one driving the car that was identified as belonging to Prince Clovis, but it was actually fake.

Next to Kallen was Kitsune.

"Hope they can't tell it's fake."Kallen murmured worriedly.

"Hey, it's okay."Kitsune assured firmly."Nothing bad is going to happen. I promise."

Soon, the Viceroy's car drove into view of the cameras, coming to a stop in front of Kewell's knightmare.

"You dare desecrate his Highness's transport?!"Kewell scowled."Come out of there!"

Kitsune smirked behind her mask before she clicked a button on the screen.

This caused the Britannian flag on the vehicle to go up in flames to reveal Zero standing behind it.

"I am Zero!"Zero announced.

Mario and the crowd gasped at the masked figure's distorted voice.

"Zero?"Jeremiah said in confusion.

Suzaku looked at Zero with a surprised look.

"Is he an Eleven?"Suzaku thought.

From behind his mask, Lelouch looked at his best friend that was held captive.

"Now to return the favour, Suzaku."Lelouch thought.

"Enough of this little game!"Kewell retorted."Your little show ends now!"

At Kewell's signal, two knightmare transports dropped down additional Sutherlands to join the pair already flanking the convoy, who all raised their rifles in unison at the masked man.

Zero, however, didn't even flinch upon the Sutherland's guns being pointed at him.

"This little show of yours is over."Kewell sneered."First things first. Why don't you lose that mask?"

Instead of reaching to take off his mask, Zero suddenly reached into the air and snapped his fingers.

On cue, the back of the car collapsed outward to reveal a container to the Pure Bloods and the crowd's horror.

"A poison gas container!"Viletta gasped.

Kewell angrily aimed his gun at Zero.

"Don't try shooting him!"Jeremiah argued."He's taken every Britannian here in hostage!"

Zero smirked from his mask as he looked at Kewell.

"You intend to shoot?"Zero scoffed."You know full well what would happen if you do…"

"What do you want?"Kewell snared.

"An Exchange."Zero admitted."This for Kururugi."

"Like hell. He's charged with high treason for murdering a prince!"Kewell snapped."I can't hand him over just like that!"

Zero chuckled at Kewell's respond.

"You're mistaken, Soresi. Suzaku Kururugi is innocent and you know it."Zero informed."He's only a scapegoat your superiors use to achieve their goal."

"And how the hell do you know that, huh?"Kewell questioned in a smug tone.

"It's simple."Zero responded."You see the one murdered Clovis…"

Zero noticed Diethard filming him and looked at the camera directly.

"Was myself!"Zero declared.

The crowd gasped in surprise at Zero's surprise.

Kallen's hands gripped in fear as she struggled to hold the wheel of the car.

"We are so screwed."Kallen muttered in fright.

"Don't say that, Kallen."Kitsune responded, her voice showing no fear."I said nothing bad will happen, remember?"

"O-Okay."Kallen answered.

"You've dare insult the memory of our late Prince Clovis and the Empire?!"Kewell scowled."If what you claim is true, I'll take Clovis' vengeance here and now!"

Zero continued speaking to Kewell.

"An innocent Eleven for the lives of hundreds of pureblooded Britannians."Zero sneered."I find that quite the bargain. Besides, I don't think you'd like the public to learn of Apple, do you?"

The soldiers became confused at Zero's respond.

"If I die, things will go public."Zero informed.

Zero then tapped twice causing Kallen to move the vehicle slowly towards Kewell's Sutherland.

"What is this?"Kewell retorted.

The detachable part of Zero's mask revealed his left eye

"You will do everything in your power to let us go with Suzaku."Zero ordered.

Zero activated his Geass and Kewell fell under its effect.

"All right, release the prisoner."Kewell declared.

"What are you doing, Kewell?!"Villetta demanded.

Jeremiah glared at Kewell, not believing that he was following Zero's request.

"Have you lost your mind?!"Jeremiah growled.

"I said, release the prisoner!"Kewell repeated.

The soldiers executed themselves, still doubtful over Kewell's leadership but orders were orders.

Suzaku walked up to Zero to meet him while the crowd yelled out in outrage upon seeing him released.

"So who the hell-"Suzaku started.

Suzaku groaned when the collar zapped him.

"As I thought, they didn't allow you to speak."Zero replied.

Jeremiah grabbed the radio and changed the frequency to Villetta's Sutherland.

"Villetta, we must not let Zero escape!"Jeremiah retorted."If they get away, we'll lose everything!"

Kallen and Kitsune went between Zero.

"Zero, it's time to go."Kallen informed.

"Reinforcements are on their way."Kitsune warned.

"Well then, until next time."Zero declared.

With that, Zero pushed the button of the remote he held.

The next thing that happened, the capsule on the back of Clovis' car started shaking and sputtering then eventually sparklers burst out of it causing the crowd panic and run away in terror.

Zero immediately grabbed onto Suzaku and ran towards the railing, Kitsune and Kallen following close behind. Some of the soldiers started to chase after them, but didn't get very far before they were blocked by the feeling crowd.

Jeremiah's Sutherland and the other Knightmares weren't able to do anything since they didn't want to fire the civilians.

"You cowardly Elevens!"Villetta growled.

Villetta's Sutherland took aim with her rifle and attempted to fire a couple shots at the fleeing group before having to fall back and dodge as Kewell's Sutherland opened fire on her with his own knightmare.

"Zero and Kururugi must escape!"Kewell shouted angrily."Let them go!"

Zero threw himself and Suzaku over the edge of the bridge.

Kallen and Kitsune leapt over after them.

Ohgi was waiting below in his own knightmare and fired a net that safely caught the group before they hit the ground.

Zero, Suzaku, Kallen and Kitsune climbed out of the net and dropped down to a waiting train that they'd commandeered prior to the rescue.

Inoue, Sugiyama, Yoshida and Tamaki were waiting on-board for them and pulled them up into the train car.

"It worked!"Ohgi said happily."Now we can leave!"

Kitsune contacted Ohgi with her own radio device.

"It's not over yet, Kaname. Meet back with us at the rendezvous point."Kitsune ordered in a sharp tone and looked at the driver that was under the influence of Zero's Geass."Get us out of here."

Immediately, the train began moving down the tracks back away from the settlement.

Kallen and the others cheered as the sounds of gunfire slowly faded away as they sped away into the night.

Afterwards…

When the train stopped near a station, Ohgi's resistance group came out and returned back to their safeguard.

"Man, I didn't really think he could do it."Inoue admitted.

"Yeah, who is this guy?"Sugiyama questioned.

"That's crap."Tamaki retorted."How many times can a bluff like that work, anyway?"

"You gotta give the guy some credit though."Ohgi remarked.

"Huh?"Tamaki said in confusion.

"Gotta admit it nobody else could've pulled that off. Not the Japanese Liberation Front and certainly not me."Ohgi stated with a smile."We've always thought that a full-on war with Britannian wasn't a possibility at all. But maybe with them, it is."

Kallen glanced at Ohgi with a surprised expression before looking back to the ruined theatre which was where Zero and Suzaku were.

"Tell me, Private Kururugi. I'm curious."Zero stated."Why waste your time trying to serve Britannia and make it change from within? Britannia is rotten."

Suzaku glared at Zero.

"You're right. Britannia is corrupt."Suzaku commented."But I serve the military to help my people. I want to stop the cycle of hate and evil. It must end."

"Yes, I agree with you."Zero declared, surprising Suzaku."The cycle of hate and evil must end. Though in doing so, we should stand together to make sure the world actually changes for the better."

"Tell me."Suzaku said with a frown."Did you really kill Prince Clovis?"

"Indeed, I did."Zero answered."But Clovis was guilty of ordering the murder of countless and unarmed Japanese people in Shinjuku for his own personal needs and had no remorse in doing so. Letting you be killed for a crime you didn't commit would cause injustice. Though, if you have no interest in joining me, you are free to go. I won't force you."

Suzaku nodded before he began walking back towards the settlement.

"You seem like a good man, Zero. It's a shame you chose the path of terrorism."Suzaku stated."Even so, I thank you…for saving me."

"Very well, Private Kururugi."Zero responded."Farewell for now."

Suzaku then walked out of the ruin theatre and disappeared from the view as Zero watched him go.

Kitsune then appeared from the other side of the theatre.

"He turned you down?"Kitsune assumed.

"It's as you said, Kitsune."Zero said with a hint of sadness."By the next time he and I meet, it must be as enemies."

Kitsune slightly nodded at Zero.

"And the next time that pest is alone, I will make sure he meets his utter demise."Kitsune thought coldly.
