Just wanted to write something sad. And short to so that I wouldn't be without content as I finish another longer story.

The year is 2158. After the First Contact War, the human race is struggling to coexist with alien species. So far, all attempts have failed. One man is about to change that. Prequel to the ME games. Doesn't involve the canon ME characters.

The year is 2160. Mankind's introduction to the galaxy was less than great. Humans are not well liked, one veteran notes bitterly. That's fine, he thinks. The aliens don't like him, he doesn't like them right back. But one night comes where he finds himself drinking alone and two alien beauties take the chance to ensnare him as their plaything. Maybe aliens aren't so bad after all.

The reapers are dead! The Normandy is stranded on an unknown planet in a bad state and Shepard is alive. However the Normandy crew have no idea what has happened since they crashed. Has the Galaxy recovered enough to survive this one? And how far does the bond between Shepard and Vakarian go?

Shepard finds an unlikely friend in an assassin she picks up to help with the suicide mission. Will he be the one to finally save her, or will she push him away and keep her demons to herself? Some ideas are similar to those in "Fear".

Tali is disgusted by the change of saliva between Shepard and Joker and they choose to mess with her. Or at least they try to. Little FemShep/Joker fluff.

What would happen if the illusive man came to terms, knew he couldn't win? What if he accepted the current fate of humanity and denied all life the chance to defeat the reapers here and now by capturing Shepard for one last mission?
