Light streamed through the curtains over looking Eden's bed, illuminating her sleeping frame. Eyes crinkled; a frown making its way onto her face to accompany them. An arm immediately shot out, trying to shield them from the intruding light in the hopes that if she hid long enough, maybe it would just go away.
"Your arm may act like a shield in this moment, but unfortunately the sun doesn't leave for another 15 hours." Came a voice from the other side of the room; it was filled with humor and playfulness, but neither were what Eden wanted to hear.
"Actually it's more like 8 hours." Eden mumbles as she scrambles her way out of her bed, hair being tossed over her shoulder as she stumbles to her desk, mindlessly shuffling through papers.
"How is that you know that? You literally just stumbled out of bed."
Eden shook her head in concentration as she looked for her assignments, pulling them together quickly before stuffing them in the folder in her bag. "Nala, I have had the same schedule since I was thirteen; wake up exactly 15 minutes before I have to leave, giving myself enough time to make sure I look presentable, and then head out the door."
"That still doesn't explain how you know the sun sets in 8 hours."
Eden launches for her phone, pulling it up to show the time. "9:00 am. As I suspected. The exact time I have woken up for the past 2 1/2 years." The answering grin is impeccable, teeth bared for the whole world to see.
"Alright, alright Eden, I get it. You have an amazing internal clock. No need to be a show off about it." Nala rolls her eyes affectionately while walking herself out the door.
Eden chuckles in delight, shimming her way into clothes before following suit.

The afternoon sun felt great against her skin as she stepped in to the fresh fall air. She breathed in deep to shake off the weight of her final class for the day, trying to put it in to the back of her mind. Her feet began to move practically on their own, the path to her work like muscle memory. Her fingers worked delicately as they scrolled through her songs before finally pressing play. She felt her lashes flutter at the top of her cheekbones as her eyes close momentarily.
She lets the music move through her, calming her muscles along with her mind. She was swift and walked with a small confidence she didn't know she had. She found her herself at her destination soon enough, feet slowing to glide effortlessly into the entrance.
"Eden! I didn't realize you were working today." A calming voice called. A soft rounded face smiled up at Eden, simultaneously pushing up her glasses.
"Hey Evelyn. I wasn't originally supposed to but Trina called me in."
"Well what a pleasant surprise it is. It's been quiet for the most part. Should be an easy evening."
Eden smiled lightly before she stashed away her bag before shuffling over to the cart to begin her day.

The hours flew by, Eden kept busy by the stacks of returned books. She flew through the shelves with ease, her fingers gliding over spines as she pushed them into their rightful positions. She hummed softly to herself as the stack windled down next to nothing, the last few staring at her as if they were just begging to be put away.
"Eden, darling. The rest of the folks are just about gone. Will you be okay if I close down the front and go?" Evelyn stood at the end of the aisle, her soft smile putting Eden at ease.
"Of course Evelyn. I'll probably be right behind you. Only got a couple more to put away." She waved as Evelyn shuffled away, laughing silently at the little waddle in Evelyn's walk.
She continued to shuffle down, nearly done. She was at the end of the pile, not even looking down till she got till the last one. The last one called to her like a beacon when she looked down, almost like it was meant to be in her hands.
She was mesmerized, eyes glued. She couldn't tear herself away. "The Avengers?"
