'The concept of Isekai was nothing new to me. As someone who spent the latter part of my teenage years deep in fanfics and pop culture, the idea of travelling to some new world, exploring new sights, and meeting all my favourite fictional characters excited me. I always imagined that if it ever happened to me, I would be greeted by some ROB or other being, granting me some wishes. Or maybe even I would be recruited by some shady organisations like in other stories.
But no. Here I am stood in front of a set of giant gameshow wheels. With a lever next me, with a giant neon arrow lit up and flashing next to a sign saying, "pull me".
Well then.
As they say, 99% of gamblers give up before they win big. So, what's the worst that could happen?'
The man stood there looking at the set of wheels. 3 in total. One just had numbers and names of various races, although it seemed to skip 2 and 11. The second had a long list of names, all with "experience of" written in front. Then finally the last wheel had a simple set of locations. Looking over it he recognized several. They ranged broadly from Marley (AOT) to Night City (Cyberpunk), to Terra(Warhammer).
The man looked at these names. Recognising several due to his delves into pop-culture, gaming, and various fanfics.
His hand? No, it wasn't a hand, more just an ethereal blue limb, just like the rest of his body as he looked down finally. He wasn't naked, his plain jumper and trousers along with his shoes were also an ethereal light blue.
He looked down shocked at his appearance, shocked by it. But he quickly accepted this. After all, in his own words – "that's the way the cookie crumbles".
He raised his arm up to the lever, it glinted slightly from some unknown light source. And with little resistance, he pulled it down.
The first wheel spun clockwise. A slight beep sounded as each segment passed an arrow.
'Now what does this actually mean?' he thought to himself as it spun, slightly slowing as it the behemoth first wheel turned.
It slowed, then slowed some more, before finally landing on '15'. Suddenly the man felt as if SOMETHING had unlocked. His mind felt open, far more open. When once it was a small garden surrounded by a fence in some industrial city, now it was akin to the Amazon rainforest. Large, free, untouched, and so much more impressive.
The man looked down at his hands, they were now red. In fact, his whole body was red. He had grown too. He hadn't noticed as he was engrossed in thought about his new mind. His clothes had ripped to shreds. His body had had grown too. Where originally, he had stood at 6 feet, he had easily doubled it. And looking down his head felt… heavier.
"WHY DO I HAVE HORNS?" he screamed out.
The shiny floor beneath him revealed his reflection. Two large ivory horns protruded from his head, and a pair of gigantic wings came from his back. Strangely though, they felt as if they were always there. Even stranger, one of his eyes was sealed shut.
Instinctively, he flexed his wings, and they pulsed. Moving with unknown muscles they flew forwards then back, their feathers shimmering in a cacophony of blues, maroons, and reds.
While he was engrossed in his new appendages, the second wheel had spun and stopped and the third was slowing. He glanced up, barely paying attention.
'Experience of Bellisarius Cawl' it read. Something resonated within his mind. It expanded, no. Not expanded, but more like zooming out on a map. Seeing more that was there, just unknown to you.
The man stumbled to one knee. Clutching the front of his head as the final wheel stopped.
'unknown world (The Mandalorian)'.
He didn't have time to look up and see it. No, instead the floor opened up into a black opening and he fell. Fell as he clutched his head. His wings started to move, attempting to fly, but he could not.
Waking up, face down in the dirt was a new feeling for him. He slowly stood, looking round carefully. Dry. The area around him was sandy, rocky, and mostly flat. But above all, it was dry.
"Come on now S-…. What was my name? SHIT! Why can't I remember my name?". The man questioned. He once again fell to his knees, racking his now monstrous mind for all possibilities. He could remember faces, no names, not many important things about his life. Just hobbies, things he enjoyed.
He took a moment, composed himself and stood once again. He knew now what he was. He was a primarch. Magnus The Red. The One-Eyed Cyclops. The Lord of the fifteenth legion. Champion of Tzeentch.
He paused. He didn't hear anything. He imagined becoming a Demon Primarch would mean he would have the urge for chaos, a whisper in his mind asking for chaos, or a compulsion. He didn't have that.
If this wasn't there, he wouldn't question it. Not now at least. He had more to worry about. Plans to make. A new life to live. He would become him, Magnus. The new lord of this dry ball of earth he was stood on.
His head ached slightly and he looked inwards. Memories not his own flooded in.
"Bellisarius Cawl… yes. I know him. The Archmagos who made the primaris marines. These must be his memories flooding my head now." His deep voice echoed.
He flexed his wings. Comfortable with moving them. He wanted to fly. He needed to fly. He needed to see this new piece of land, survey it. Then he can plan ahead.
If by magic, no. It wasn't sorcery like Magnus wielded, it was the psychic might second only to the emperor of Mankind. It willed him to fly, and he rose. He rose up to the sky, below the clouds. But now he could see.
A primarch is fundamentally different. They are more, they are the Emperor's sons. And now the newly renamed Magnus could see through their eyes. Water spread across this continent. Lakes or oceans, it didn't matter. There were great arid plains of dry rock and sand. Rocky mountains and outcrops. Caves. And... Dinosaurs?
"Dinosaurs? That's peculiar… No. Something new, something different." He flexed his wings and fell slowly. Approaching these reptilian beings.
A great shadow moved through the water, and some smaller reptilian pterosaur type animals flew along the coast.
"These are familiar… where have I seen this?" He spoke to no one. Then it struck him. His enhanced mind flicking back to a popular show he watched from Disney. The Mandalorian. This was the world Djin had met with the enclave on.
That helped him. He now knew where he was, and the universe he was in. He spread his new sense out. It unnerved him to manipulate his mind, but he could sense now. Look where his eyes could not. Hear where his ears could not. He could look for life.
He found none. Just the wild animals of this world. No mandalorians. No ships to fly. Nothing.
He floated down to the earth below and sat on a nearby rock. Looking out towards the sun. He was alone here. At least for now.
So, this is my first attempt at something like this. I'm going to try and combine a couple things here.
Firstly – Warhammer is a favourite of mine, but with so much lore and so many contradictions within the books I'm going to just go by the wiki for the most part. If I think something is dumb or doesn't make sense, I might change it. We just have to wait and see.
Secondly -Star wars is something I'm more intimate with. Ill keep to the prequels, clone wars, and original trilogy at the moment. Of course, with magnus this may change everything. After all, Magnus in lore warps reality, and does all kinds of weird crap in the warp.
Thirdly – I don't quite know how I'll write magnus. I think ill write this as a partial SI, hell think how I would but ill try to keep him more unique, Afterall a primarch should be more if that makes sense.
