Preface:
The idea behind this story came from my recent rediscovery of the Animorphs franchise through the Reddit. Upon reflection, I realized that Mrs. Applegate touched on a lot, and I mean a lot, of the same themes that Mr. Clancy's books (and later the games produced under his name).
A thought occured.
What if the Yeerk-Andalite War played a significant part in the way the world of the Tom Clancy games panned out?
I decided to take a shot and develop a story around it.
Timeline:
The timeline presented in this story shifts the events of the Animorphs roughly 28-30 years forward past the original (i.e., instead of taking place in 1997, the events of the first book take place sometime 2025) to sync up with the modern TC games.
This story serves as a pre-sequel set between the events of Ghost Recon: Wildlands (2019) and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (2024).
The story and cast of Blacklight are mostly original, though canon characters are either directly referenced (especially Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 cast early on) or indirectly important to the background (i.e. Elfangor and El Sueño).
There are some other (fun) changes made to the timeline, but those only become apparent later.
