A/N: Hello. Ever since I heard about 5th Gear Luffy, One Piece had me in its hooks. And before I knew it, the live-action One Piece series came out on Netflix (though, I haven't seen that so much as the first 61 episodes of the animated One Piece series in its stead). Mainly because of the fact that 5th Gear Luffy came out and has already garnered so much attention, I figured that the best way to celebrate is to release this story. Of course, obviously, there may be some certain major changes. First, and foremost, I came up with an OC of mine for this story named Monkey D. Salvia, voiced by Elise Baughman, who voiced Pan in both Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters. I even made up a different kind of Devil Fruit, which may be just as kooky and surprising in a different way. And second, let's just say that Nami would be more heavily involved since she first appeared in the very first episode of One Piece. That only makes sense thinking about it that way. Anywho, along the way, there may be more undiscovered Devil Fruits, only one of which trumps all others. But we'll get to that, let alone who holds said powers of said Devil Fruits, soon enough as the story goes along. For all fans and/or newcomers of One Piece, enjoy. :)
One Piece: Adventures of the East Blue Sea
Chapter 1: I'm Luffy! I'm Salvia!; And I'm The Man Who's Gonna Be King of the Pirates!
Narrator: "Wealth, Fame, Power. Gol D. Roger, the King of the Pirates attained this and everything else the world had to offer and his dying words drove countless souls to the seas."
"You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything I gathered in one place! Now, you just have to find it!"
Narrator: "These words lured men to the Grand Line in pursuit of dreams greater than they'd ever dared to imagine. This is the time known as the Great Pirate Era!"
Act I
One day a circle of seagulls flew around in the sky above a whirlpool in the oceanic depths below. A ship was passing near it with two sailors watching from afar. But then, they heard a noise and looked down to see, much to their puzzlement, 2 barrels floating in the ocean water.
Meanwhile, in another ship, which is a cruise ship, there was some sort of fancy event going on as a couple of pairs were dancing.
"Of course not. My ship is much too sturdy and too heavy to be affected by such a measly whirlpool...", the ship's captain assured as outside, an orange-haired woman with brown eyes was looking out the window to see a nearby island.
"Excuse me. Would the beautiful lady care to dance?", a man asked to the woman.
In response, the woman shrugged in response and held out her hand for the man as if getting ready to dance.
Outside in the ocean, with one of the two barrels already onboard at the ship now, one of the sailors swung a hook around and tossed it at the second barrel, but missed.
"Ugh...! I missed again.", one sailor spoke in slight frustration as another laughed.
"Strike three, pal.", another teased.
"I'd be embarrassed. You suck!", the third mocked.
But the jeering turned to puzzlement when he saw an island up ahead of the ship just as the 2nd barrel was finally lifted up, albeit with much difficulty.
"It's heavier than I thought it'd be.", the 2nd sailor commented.
"Maybe it's filled with beer.", the first sailor guessed as he and his partner finally brought it on-board.
"Yeah, well so was the last one.", the 2nd responded.
"Maybe this one has even more in it?", the 1st guessed.
"Well, either way, I think it's our beer now.", the 2nd sighed in relief.
"I'm not sharin' my half.", the 1st responded.
As for the 3rd sailor, he was aghast in fear when he saw a pink ship moving past the island from behind. But this was no ordinary ship. It had a flag of a sideways pirate skull with a heart on it. The sail even had the same symbol. It was a pirate ship!
"Ship off the starboard bow! And they're flying a pirate flag! We've got a pirate ship in pursuit! Enemy raid! Enemy raid!", the 3rd sailor shouted, causing the other 2 sailors to panic.
In no time, the pirate ship started to fire cannonballs near the ship, causing immense panic before the 2 sailors burst in.
"Captain, we've got pirates!", the 2nd sailor reported.
"What?!", the captain exclaimed before the ship shook again from another cannonball fire.
"People, please stay calm! Panicking will only get you hurt! Just follow my crew's instructions in an orderly fashion!", the captain shouted.
But everyone else was too afraid of pirates to calm down. All they cared about was making it out safely. Well, everyone except the orange-haired woman. She hung back at the wall and gave a smirk.
"Fire!", the pirate commanded before several more cannonballs were fired near the ship.
While they did miss, only one of them hit the dolphin mast, breaking it apart. After some time, the cannonball attack on the ship stopped, the captain with wavy black hair and a cowboy hat with a red plume on it looking on before she shouted to someone near her.
"Coby!", the captain shouted.
"Yes, ma'am?", Coby asked.
"Who is the most beautiful of all on these seas?", the captain asked.
"Well, uh, that would be... the captain of our ship, Lady Alvida, of course.", Coby spoke nervously.
As she laughed boisterously and set her iron mace down, it turned out she was anything but. If anything, she was quite large in stature all while her face was quite reminiscent of a devil, indicated by her evil grin.
"Good answer.", Alvida smirked.
"That means a lot to me...", Coby spoke nervously.
"It's been a while. We're finally gonna see a little action.", one of Alvida's crewmates grinned.
"That's right! So make it count! Hit it with all you got, boys!", Alvida ordered before her crew cheered and fired as ordered.
With one blast, the mast of the attacked ship got destroyed, causing the two barrels to roll down into the kitchen. At the same time, the orange-haired woman ran out to the back of the ship only to catch sight of Alvida's ship and ran back in. By that point, Alvida's crew were already tossing their hooks onto the rails of the ship.
"Here we go! Time to show them the terror of Iron Club Alvida, Lady Pirate of the Seas!", Alvida ordered.
Then, her crew shouted as most of them ran up across the ropes, swords and all. But the only one who did not go aboard the ship besides Alvida was Coby, who was timid as he shivered in fear, holding onto a rope.
"COBY! What are you doing?!", Alvida asked, frightening the poor pink-haired boy.
"I'm not real good at this stuff...", Coby said fearfully.
"Huh, you're tellin' me! Maybe it's 'cause you're too busy backtalkin' me all the time.", Alvida glared as she stepped closer toward him.
"Oh, no! Not the club! Anything but the club, please!", Coby begged in fear.
"Then get your tuchus together!", Alvida only shouted, kicking Coby right off the pirate ship and into the other, slamming his face right into the wall.
It was only after he sat up that he recoiled a bit from the bruises on his face.
"Move it, you brat!", Alvida shouted, prompting him to look up in time to see Alvida roaring with her club raised and heading right towards him, having jumped in midair!
Panicked, Coby ducked in time for Alvida not just to hit the wall, but instead, break it apart. Alvida was less than amused as the smoke cleared and she glared at Coby. Moments later, she was with her crew, who surrounded most of the partygoers.
"We're not gonna take your lives. We swear. But we will take everything else you got on ya.", Alvida's crewmate smirked, holding a sword.
"And anyone who fights back will be eating their dinner off the bottom of the ocean.", Alvida smirked as she stepped forward.
Then, she and her crew smirked and chuckled at the partygoers' helpless situation. Of course, they had no idea that the orange-haired woman was still hanging back on the wall. When the coast was clear, she took off her dress, revealed to be wearing a black bandana and blue pirate shirt.
In the meantime, Coby peaked out from the kitchen door.
"Uh... hello? I really hope there's no one in here.", Coby spoke nervously.
Then, he stepped inside and saw no one else in the kitchen, sighing in relief.
"That's a relief.", Coby said to himself.
Then, he spotted 2 big barrels in the kitchen, much to his surprise. Cautiously, he walked toward them.
"Wow. Those sure are some big barrels. I wonder what's inside of them.", Coby said.
While this was happening, the orange-haired woman was already ziplining down into Alvida's ship. Once there, she made her way to the wall near the door. She looked left and right and was about to open it when one of Alvida's crewmates opened it, catching her by surprise.
"Huh? Who are you? I ain't seen you before?", the crewmate asked, making the woman giggle nervously.
Of course, she wasn't scared for long. She quickly kicked the crewmate in the groin, knocking him out cold. When he laid down, cradling where the injury was struck, the girl gave a giggle.
Back at the other ship, Coby was rolling one barrel away when suddenly, the 3 pirates entered.
"It's our favorite coward. You trying to hide in here and dunk out on all the action again?", the crewmate asked.
"No way! I was just trying to haul this big barrel of beer over to you guys.", Coby fibbed worriedly, earning his chuckle.
"Why don't you let us lighten your load?", the crewmate asked.
"I was just starting to get thirsty.", the 2nd added.
"You can't! lady Avilda will kill us if she ever found out!", Coby pleaded.
"She won't if you keep your trap shut. Right..., boy?", the 3rd asked.
"Yeah. Right. Okay.", Coby agreed nervously as the crewmate picked up the barrel and set it down while Coby laughed nervously once again.
"This sucker's heavy.", the crewmate commented.
"Heh, perfect.", the 2nd smirked.
"Hold on, boys. I'll open 'er the old fashioned way.", the crewmate assured, cracking his knuckles.
He took aim and raised his arm, prepared to strike. He swung down and was about to hit it when suddenly... SMASH! Out burst a black-haired boy wearing a straw hat with a red shirt and blue pants and sandals! As soon as he burst out, he broke off the top of the barrel and knocked the crewmate out cold.
"YEAH! I SLEPT SO GREAT!", the boy shouted as jubilantly as if he was having an exciting time.
Then, the boy looked to notice an unconscious crewmate.
"Who's that?", the boy puzzled calmly.
The other 2 crewmates were completely dumbfounded by this development as was Coby.
"Who the heck are you guys?", Luffy asked.
"WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?!", the pirates shouted.
"Your friend'll catch a cold sleeping like that.", Luffy advised.
"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KNOCKED HIM OUT!", the two pirates argued.
"Will you stop with all the yelling? I'm trying to get some sleep here.", a feminine voice yawned while inside the 2nd barrel.
"Huh? Wait, did you hear that?", the 2nd crewmate asked.
"Yeah, I think I did.", the 3rd responded.
Then, all of a sudden, the barrel started to break into pieces before it finally came apart as a rather large girl with straight black hair, not to mention a green tank top and dark blue shorts and bright blue sandals burst out, giving a loud groan of relaxation, once again shocking both Coby and the crewmates, who all exclaimed in shock, before landing backwards on the ground.
"Ah...! What a relief. It was getting all cramped up in here.", the girl sighed in relief.
"Oh, hey, Salvia. Did you have a great nap, too?", the boy asked.
"Well, I was, until you guys got too loud.", Salvia glared with one eyebrow raised, earning the boy's sheepish laughter.
"Yeah, sorry.", the boy apologized.
"Hey, you seein' this girl?", the 2nd crewmate asked.
"Yeah. She's kind of a dead-ringer for Lady Alvida. Maybe even more.", the 3rd agreed.
"By the way, Luffy, who are those people?", Salvia asked, turning to the crewmates.
But as soon as Salvia turned to the two crewmates out of curiosity, they suddenly got scared from her glance and scampered off in fear, though not before dragging their unconscious friend along with him.
"Huh. Wonder what that was about?", Salvia puzzled.
"Got me. But what I really wanna know is, is there any food we could eat around here?", the boy puzzled.
But Coby, surprised as he was by the sudden appearance, was quite terrified of Salvia.
"Huh? What's wrong? You look terrified.", Salvia puzzled, not knowing that Coby saw in Salvia's place Alvida, who gave a menacing cackle.
"Ah! Please don't hurt me, Lady Alvida! I wasn't talking about you behind your back, I swear!", Coby squealed, kneeling before Salvia in fear, much to her worry.
"Aw, calm down, little guy. I'm not gonna hurt you.", Salvia assured, kneeling down to his level.
Still, Coby wouldn't budge, too terrified as he shook like a leaf.
"Oh, poor thing... He must've been through a lot.", Salvia guessed sadly before gently lifting up his face.
Cautiously, Coby opened his eyes and looked up, seeing Alvida's cruel, menacing smirk turn into Salvia's sweet, reassuring smile.
"See? I told you I wouldn't hurt you.", Salvia grinned.
"Wait... How do I know you're not gonna push me around like Alvida?", Coby asked.
"For starters, I don't even know who Alvida is. And secondly, I wasn't always this big.", Salvia responded.
"You weren't?", Coby asked.
"Not really. Not until 10 years ago, that is. When I was little, I found some strange fruit shaped like a lemon. It even had the cutest smiley face you could ever imagine, too! Or maybe it was the markings on it that made it look that way. I was too late to realize what it really was before I even ate it. And then, it happened. I ate the Chub-Chub Devil Fruit and turned all huge and round. Of course, I just turned as round as a ball back then as a kid, but as I got older, the more it became clear to me that I turned fat since eating the devil fruit. It took a while, but I pretty much got used to it. Especially when I can do this.", Salvia said before then flexing, causing her fat to turn into muscle (not anywhere near as bulky, but just enough to appear strong, much to Coby's shock and awe as his mouth was agape.
"You see, whenever I use the Chub-Chub's power, this is what happens. But it has a time limit, so I'm being careful to manage it until absolutely necessary.", Salvia began before turning back to her obese state with a poof of smoke.
"Like so.", Salvia added.
Then, she noticed how shocked Coby still is.
"Uh, are you okay?", Salvia asked before Coby quickly pulled himself together.
"Okay, I get what you're saying. But who are you?", Coby asked, still nervous.
"Who am I?", Salvia asked before giving a light stomp with a grin.
"I'm Monkey D. Salvia. You already met my brother, over there.", Salvia introduced, gesturing to the boy.
"My name's Monkey D. Luffy. Hi.", Luffy greeted before giggling.
"Uh, hi.", Coby greeted.
But then, Coby suddenly panicked.
"Quick! You two've gotta run! If those guys come back here with their buddies, then they'll kill you on the spot!", Coby warned in a panic.
"They can try, but I don't think they'll be able to.", assured Salvia.
"HOW ARE YOU SO CONFIDENT RIGHT NOW?! There are hundreds of them on deck and they're waiting for the opportunity to kill anything!", Coby panicked.
Suddenly, Luffy and Salvia both started to smell some food.
"Wait... Is that...? FOOD!", Salvia shouted excitedly.
In a hurry while Coby tried to stop her, and failed, Salvia managed to dash into the room where the smell of food was coming from.
"Hey, wait for me, big sis!", Luffy spoke giddily before he, too, went in, and closed the door.
Inside, Luffy laughed excitedly.
"It's a gold mine! Food, food, food, food, food!", Luffy shouted before giggling.
"Who knows? Maybe we'll be safe in here as long as no one else gets hungry.", Coby spoke in relief.
"Oh, which one should I take first?", Salvia asked to herself.
Then, she noticed a crate of cherry-like apples.
"Oh. This one looks promising.", Salvia grinned.
Then, she picked up the whole crate, tore off the lid, and then set it down.
"Apples! Excellent.", Luffy grinned.
Then, the two started eating apples together.
"Mmmm...! They taste so good!", Salvia spoke in delectable satisfaction.
Then, she moaned as she started to grow bigger and fatter, causing her shirt to stretch and tighten into the shape of a bra as her chest started to expand and push outward while her shorts stretch and tighten into underwear as well just as her big bottom pushed out by a 10 inches, much to Coby's alarm.
"Mmm...! This feels good, too.", Salvia grinned.
But before she could take another bite, she saw Coby starting to get frightened again.
"Oh. Still intimidated by my large size, huh?", Salvia asked, earning Coby's scared nod.
Salvia sighed in a bit of worry. After a moment, she came up with an idea.
"Oh, I know!", Salvia realized before she picked Coby up and placed him on her belly.
"There. It's actually as soft as a pillow.", Salvia grinned.
Coby, frightened as he is, stopped shaking when he did notice the softness of Salvia's skin and calmed down a little.
"Hey... You're right, it is soft.", Coby grinned.
"Mm-hmm.", Salvia giggled.
"Anyway, My name's Coby. You're Luffy and you're Salvia, is that right? That was pretty neat when you two burst out of those barrels back there.", Coby said.
"Really? But we were just taking naps.", Salvia puzzled.
Then, Luffy turned to Coby.
"These are awesome. So, we on a pirate ship, or what?", Luffy asked, still eating some apples.
"No, that's a passenger ship that's being raided by pirates. Pirates under the command of Lady Alvida.", Coby replied.
"Huh? Lady Alvida?", Salvia puzzled.
"Who cares, anyway? What I wanna know is, are there any boats on board?", Luffy asked, still eating while Salvia gave a peeved growl with a glare.
"I think there are a few.", Coby responded.
"Great. 'Cause ours got sucked into a big whirlpool.
"The one outside? No way! No one could've survived that.", Coby said, shocked.
"Well, you're looking at the first people to do it.", Salvia said with a smile.
"Yeah. I gotta say, it was a big surprise!", Luffy agreed with a chuckle, baffling Coby.
"So, are you one of the pirates or one of the passengers?", Luffy asked, stunting the cabin boy for a moment before he gave a weary look.
"What's wrong?", Salvia asked.
"It was on a fateful day. Long ago. That day, I stepped out onto a small fishing boat on the outskirts of town to go catch my dinner.", Coby began.
Then, it started a flashback in which in it, Coby was about to get ready to go fishing only to look up and see, much to his horror, Alvida and her crew before he wound up dragged to Alvida's ship with them on the boat.
"It turned out that particular boat was actually headed for a pirate ship. That was 2 years ago.", Coby explained.
"No way! Seriously, that was 2 years ago?", Salvia asked, earning Coby's dejected nod.
"In exchange for them letting me live, I'm forced to live the life of a cabin boy.", Coby explained.
"That's horrible...", Salvia said sadly.
"You're pretty stupid, you know that?", Luffy commented to Coby, making Salvia blanch in anger.
"Gee, thanks for your honesty.", Coby said sarcastically.
"I think you could stand to be a little more sensitive, Luffy. He's been through enough.", Salvia glared.
"If he hates it, then he should leave.", Luffy advised.
"Are you kidding?! I can't do that! No way, nuh-uh! Not a chance! Just the thought of Alvida finding me scares me so bad, I wanna throw up!", Coby refused frightfully.
"She really scares you that much?", Salvia asked, earning Coby's quick nod of fear.
But this only made Luffy laugh.
"You're a moron and a coward! I hate people like you!", Luffy laughed, finally ticking Salvia off to the point of smacking her fist against Luffy's cheek.
"OH, YEAH?! WELL, I HATE INSENSITIVE PEOPLE LIKE YOU!", Salvia shouted before Luffy hit the wall with his face, shocking Coby.
"It's all right. I held back for him. He always says things like this, it's so annoying...! But still, he is my brother. And besides that, he's like rubber.", Salvia explained while at first being ticked before grinning in defeat.
Then, Luffy moved his face off the wall, causing his head to wobble around like a bobblehead for a moment.
"Ow..., Why'd you go and do that for?", Luffy asked.
"You know very well why, Luffy! You're just lucky you're not on the top of the list of insensitive people I hate right now! The only one on the top of the list right now... is Lady Alvida! Whoever that pirate is, I won't forgive her for abusing poor Coby for 2 years straight! If and when we cross paths, she's gonna pay!", Salvia shouted both boldly and angrily, cracking her knuckles.
Speaking of Alvida, she was speaking to her crew mates, two of which were carrying a treasure chest.
"All right, quit your lollygaggin' around, boys! We gotta load up everything before the marines get here. I catch anyone dawdling and they'll really get a mouthful of my iron club.", Alvida ordered as the treasure chests were being loaded onto the ship.
"I love hitting a rich ship!", one crewmate said.
"Let's get back to it! She'll break our butts if she catches us slacking off again!", another urged.
"One hit from that club of hers is enough to have ya begging for death!", a third added, neither one knowing that at this moment, the orange-haired pirate has already emptied out all the chests from the treasure and placed it in her bag.
At the deck, the 2 panicked crewmates that were terrified by Luffy and Salvia moments ago screamed and burst out of the floor panel, getting stuck at the same time.
"Captain!", the 2 crewmates shouted before Alvida turned toward them with a glare.
"This is bad!", the 2 crewmates added.
"Yeah? Then, out with it.", Alvida said.
"They came from inside the barrels!", one crewmate shouted.
"They're horrible monsters!", another added.
Alvida didn't take kindly to that, worrying the two crewmates.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A MONSTER?!", Alvida shouted, swinging her iron club, prompting them to duck only in time for their buddy to climb up and get knocked clean off the ship with one strike into the ocean water.
Then, her club landed on the two crewmates.
"We weren't... talking... about you, my lady...", one crewmate said.
"Huh? Oh, right. Now that you mention it, you said monsters, as in more than one.", Alvida realized.
"Some guy and some girl were hiding in barrels! They could be bounty hunters, and that's not all! That girl was bigger than all of us!", another explained.
"What?!", Alvida puzzled.
Act II
Meanwhile, Coby spoke to Luffy and Salvia.
"Yeah, you're right, Luffy.", Coby said.
"He is?", Salvia asked.
"If I had the courage, I could drift alone in a barrel and be rid of those pirates. I actually have my own dreams. Someday, I'd like to live out all of it.", Coby said.
"You know? I actually kinda get it.", Salvia agreed before turning to Luffy.
"Sorry I hit you into a wall back there.", Salvia apologized.
"Nah, it's okay. It wasn't anywhere near your strongest punches, anyway.", Luffy assured.
"Well, you're my brother, Luffy. What do you expect?", Salvia asked.
"So, what about you and your big sis, Luffy? What was it that first got you two to set sail on these seas?", Coby asked.
"Me? Well, I wanna be the biggest pirate in the world!", Salvia grinned.
"And I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!", Luffy added.
Those replies shocked Coby.
"A King...?! And the biggest pirate...?!", Coby stammered.
"Yep.", Luffy replied.
"Are you two serious?!", Coby reacted.
"You're darn right, we are.", Salvia grinned.
"But... But that would mean that you're pirates, too!", Coby exclaimed.
"Right.", Luffy said.
"Y-Your crew?", Coby asked.
"Don't have one yet, but we're lookin' for 'em.", Luffy said.
"Yeah, we just set sail a few days ago.", Salvia added.
Coby was left baffled for a moment as Luffy, puzzled by his reaction, waved his hand in front of his face, before Coby suddenly stood up.
"King of the Pirates is a title given to one who obtains everything this world has to offer! You're talking about seeking the great treasure of wealth, fame, and power! The treasure that you're talking about is the One Piece!", Coby shouted.
"Yeah.", Luffy grinned.
"'Yeah', that's it?! Pirates from all over the world are looking for that treasure, you know!", Coby exclaimed.
"Yeah? So?", Luffy asked.
"No way! It's impossible, impossible, impossible! There's no way anyone like you could ever reach the pinnacle during this Great Pirate Age! There's just too many out there that are meaner and better!", Coby shouted.
Suddenly, Salvia pressed Coby against her belly, Luffy pitching in as well with his fearful rambling continuing.
"Calm down, please!", Salvia said in concern.
After a moment, his rambling trailed off into a sigh, allowing Salvia and Luffy to let him go.
"Feel better?", Salvia asked.
"I guess... Why did you push me into your belly?", Coby asked.
"It was the best thing I could think of to calm you down without hurting you. Even Luffy knew that.", Salvia responded.
"Well, I do now.", Luffy responded.
"You what?! Then why did you help me calm him down like that just now?", Salvia asked.
"'Cause I felt like it.", Luffy responded.
"Huh?!", Salvia said in shock.
"Honestly, you, comforting me like this? It's a breath of fresh air. After all, my shipmates smacked me around a lot. All the time, in fact.", Coby said.
"Oh, no.", Salvia said, worried for him.
"It's not about 'if' I can. I'm doing this 'cause I want to.", Luffy explained, puzzling the young boy.
"I decided long ago that I'm gonna be King of the Pirates. If I have to die fighting for that, then I die.", Luffy responded.
"That's where my dream comes in. When I said that I wanted to be the biggest pirate in the world, it's not just because it feels so good to grow bigger every so often. More importantly, who knows if we run into someone bigger, or stronger than us for that matter? So, I need to get as big as I possibly can so I can protect my brother, Luffy, much less our crewmates after we assembled a crew of our own, and help them out when I need to, not just offensively, but defensively, too. All so I can help Luffy achieve his dream. You get what I'm saying?", Salvia explained as Coby stared in awe.
"All right. Now that our bellies are full, I'm gonna go get us a brand new boat. They might even just give me one if I ask nice enough. Maybe they're generous people.", Luffy grinned.
"I don't know, Luffy. Passengers and pirates don't mix.", Salvia said cautiously, following him as Coby realized something.
"I guess I never thought of it like that.", Coby admitted.
"Huh? Like what?", Salvia asked.
"If I put my mind to it, if I'm prepared to die for it, could I do something like that?", Coby asked.
"Like what?", Luffy asked.
"Do you think...? Do you think I could ever join the marines?", Coby asked.
"Marines?", Luffy asked.
"YES! Catching bad guys is the only thing I've ever wanted to do! It's been my dream since I was a child! Do you think I can do it?", Coby asked.
"How should I know that?", Luffy asked.
Salvia then quickly elbowed Luffy.
"Oh, hush you! I'm sure you can become a marine if you put your mind to it.", assured Salvia.
"Then, I'm gonna do it! I'm not gonna get stuck here as a cabin boy for the rest of my life! I'll break out, then I'll turn right around and catch Alvida myself!", Coby vowed.
"That's the spirit, Coby!", Salvia grinned.
But all of a sudden, the ceiling gave way, prompting Coby to panic and move out of the way of the smoke and falling debris. As soon as it started to clear, Alvida's silhouette was shown.
"Who is that you plan on catching, Coby? And you actually think that twig and this overfed piglet are gonna help you? Well? Answer me!", Alvida demanded before growling at Coby, who was whimpering in fear.
Salvia, on the other hand, was starting to get miffed at the insult.
"What did you just say?!", Salvia exclaimed.
Before she could stomp toward her to attack, four swords pierced through the wall and the door near her and Luffy, surprising her. Then, Alvida raised her iron club and placed it on her shoulder while looking to notice Luffy and Salvia.
"Hmph. My guess is that you're not Zoro the Pirate Hunter.", Alvida guessed.
"Zoro?", Luffy puzzled.
"And you're the big girl, huh?", Alvida asked.
"You mean me?", Salvia asked.
"Heh. I'll take that as a yes. Coby!", Alvida shouted, frightening the poor boy.
"As for you, Who is the most beautiful of all on these seas?", Alvida asked.
"Well, I..., um..., G-Give me a sec! I know this!", Coby stammered in fear.
"Who's that, Coby? I can probably understand her being fat, but why is she so ugly?", Salvia asked before quickly realizing her error with her, Alvida, and her 2 crewmates getting just as shocked as Coby was from seeing Salvia buff out in muscle moments ago with their mouths agape; the only one who showed no reaction was Luffy.
Salvia, though, gave a shocked look, worried that she made a mistake.
"Oh, no...", the crewmate spoke in worry.
"Not good.", another added.
"Hey! Do you realize who you just called ugly?!", the crewmate shouted.
"No, but either way, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to blurt it out like that.", Salvia apologized.
"Yeah, well, sorry's not gonna cut it with her!", the crewmate shouted.
"Yeah, she's freakin' Lady Alvida of the Iron Club!", another added.
"Wait a sec! That's... Alvida?!", Salvia asked in surprise, though nowhere near as shocked as she was previously.
Just then, Alvida was growling angrily, stress marks appearing all over her face (although, only 5 did).
"LOOK WHO'S TALKING, YOU BLOB!", Alvida roared, raising her club before swinging it down.
Quickly, Salvia jumped out of the way of the club and landed near Coby.
"Hop on, Coby! We're outta here!", Salvia urged to the cabin boy, angering Alvida further as she and Luffy took off with Coby.
No sooner had they landed that they found themselves face-to-face with Alvida's crewmates. Worse yet, Alvida jumped out, readying her club with Luffy and Salvia turning just enough to notice her.
"LOOKS LIKE I GOTTA POUND SOME RESPECT INTO YOU LITTLE BRATS!", Alvida shouted, raising her club.
Instinctively, Salvia grabbed Luffy and shielded him with her body in time for Alvida to strike Salvia in the back, launching her off. Unfortunately, at the same time, the orange-haired woman peeped out from the door, carrying the bag.
"Alright, this should be everything. Now to get out of here before these dumb pirates get a clue.", the orange-haired woman said to herself.
All of a sudden, she noticed a shadow creeping up over her before she turned and exclaimed in shock upon seeing Salvia headed right for her! And just like that, she crashed, causing an updraft of smoke as a result of said impact. Coby stammered in shock as Alvida simply placed her club on her shoulder, still holding onto it, and smirked.
"That oughta teach you brats to show me any disrespect.", Alvida smirked.
But that smirk wasn't here for long. As soon as the smoke cleared, it showed that Salvia was in one piece, holding onto Luffy, still, until she let go and stood up straight.
"Are you okay, Luffy?", Salvia asked.
"Yeah. It was a really fun ride!", Luffy chuckled, earning Salvia's sigh.
"What?! How are they still alive?!", Alvida exclaimed.
"Excuse me...!", a voice muffled out, puzzling both Alvida, Luffy, Coby, and Salvia.
"Huh? Where did that voice come from?", Salvia puzzled.
"Uh, big sis? Maybe try looking down here.", Luffy said, pointing to where Salvia was sitting down.
She looked and noticed, much to her embarrassment, the orange-haired woman accidentally landed on below her.
"Can someone please get off me?", the woman requested in a muffle, making Salvia sweat and stammer in nervousness before she got up and off the orange-haired woman.
When Salvia got off the woman, she then got up.
"Geez, why don't you watch where you're go...", the woman began.
Before she could finish, she found herself shocked and stammering, unable to speak up a sentence from seeing Salvia's massive size.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to land on you like that. Are you okay?", Salvia asked.
Only Alvida spotting the bag of treasure was enough to get the woman to snap out of it.
"THAT'S OUR TREASURE!", Alvida shouted.
The echoes of her shouting prompted Luffy, Salvia, and the orange-haired woman to turn to see Alvida.
"Don't tell me you actually thought you could steal my treasure without anyone aboard my ship knowing?!", Alvida shouted.
"You've been stealing their treasure?", Salvia asked.
"I was! And I would've gotten away with all this treasure, too, if you hadn't landed on me!", the woman shouted in frustration.
"Well, excuse me! It's not like I meant to land on you! Alvida sent me flying over here!", Salvia argued.
"Well, it doesn't matter now, does it? 'Cause now, I'm caught red-handed before I could make a clean getaway!", the woman scolded.
"Yeah, that was kind of a stupid thing on your part. You're not good at this thief stuff, are you?", Luffy asked, angering the orange-haired woman.
"SHUT UP!", the woman retorted.
"Men! Don't let them escape with their lives!", Alvida ordered before her crew all charged toward them.
Of course, Luffy and Salvia were determined even as her relentless crew charged at them.
"Listen. There's still time for you to get out of here with the treasure. You can leave them to us.", assured Salvia.
"But what can you do?", the woman asked.
"You'll see.", Luffy grinned.
In no time, one of the crewmates swung his sword at Luffy, who dodged the strike before banging his head on the crewmate, knocking him out. Then, another tried to attack from behind only for Salvia to swing a punch right at his gut, surprising Coby. Luffy then noticed four of Alvida's crew lunging at him only for Luffy to jump away.
"Missed me!", Luffy shouted before landing on the ground.
He then stood up and held his left elbow with his right hand, making Coby smile.
"I don't believe it...", the orange-haired woman spoke in surprise.
But Coby's smile turned to fear when he saw another crewmate falling toward Luffy with a sword in hand.
"Luffy, watch out!", Salvia shouted.
Puzzled, Luffy was able to dodge the slash, causing the pirate to miss.
"It's not fair to attack from behind.", Luffy said, grabbing his head before tossing him toward the other crewmates.
But no sooner had he done so that the woman called out to Luffy.
"Get out of there! They're right behind you!", the woman shouted before Luffy turned to notice several pirates right behind him and ran as they chased after him.
"It's even more not fair to gang up on a guy!", Luffy shouted in panic, running around.
As he ran, though, he grabbed onto a pole of the ship and stretched his arm as long as he could, surprising the woman, who gasped, and Coby, not to mention the pirates that were chasing him.
"Gotcha!", Luffy grinned.
In panic, the pirates ran away from Luffy, dropping their swords only to run into Salvia's big belly, barring their escape.
"You going somewhere, boys?", Salvia asked sarcastically.
"Oh, no...! Not her, too!", one of the pirates panicked.
"Gum-Gum...!", Luffy began as Alvida looked on in puzzlement.
"Chub-Chub... BOUNCE HOUSE!", Salvia shouted, bouncing them straight into Luffy's path just as he launched himself straight toward them.
"ROCKET!", Luffy shouted right before colliding into the pirates with one strike.
This left both friend and foe alike stunned and shocked by the attack as Luffy and Salvia surveyed the scene.
"Well, that's the last of 'em.", Luffy grinned.
"JUST WHAT THE HECK KIND OF MONSTERS ARE YOU?! No human beings can do what you two do! Now, explain yourselves! What the heck was that bounce house and rocket thing you did just now?!", the woman shouted in shock.
"That was the Gum-Gum Rocket and the Chub-Chub Bounce House. The 2nd thing was her idea.", Luffy responded.
"Well, you're not wrong.", Salvia concurred.
"I don't care what you call them! Just tell me how you two did it! What are you two, some kind of freaks?!", the woman shouted as Coby stammered.
"Oh. I'm a Rubber Man.", Luffy explained, stretching his cheek from his mouth, spooking the woman.
"And I'm a Chub Girl.", Salvia explained.
This left both the woman and Coby stunned.
"So, you're... made of rubber?", Coby asked in surprise.
"And you're... all chub?", the woman asked, just as surprised.
Just then, Alvida spoke up.
"So. You two have eaten of the devil fruits.", Alvida guessed, frightening Coby to the point of running and hiding behind Salvia.
"Yeah. I ate the Gum-Gum one.", Luffy responded.
"And I ate the Chub-Chub. It just looked so adorably cute, I couldn't refuse. And judging by how things went so far, it's a good thing I didn't.", Salvia grinned.
"Aha. I heard rumors they existed, but I'd never seen any evidence of them before today. You two are more skilled than the average deckswabber. Are you bounty hunters?", Alvida asked.
"We're pirates.", Luffy responded.
"Pirates? Ha! All by yourselves on these waters?", Alvida asked.
"It may be just us for now, but starting tomorrow, we'll build the strongest crew there is. You'll see!", Salvia smirked.
"Ha! Tell me. If we're both pirates and we're not under the same flag, then that would make us enemies. Am I right?", Alvida asked.
"That's just as well considering how you've been treating Coby for the past 2 years.", Salvia glared.
"Oh, really?", Alvida smirked before she quickly grabbed the orange-haired woman and held her up with her left hand.
"Hey! Let me go!", the woman shouted, much to Luffy and Salvia's shock.
"Take one step closer and I'll give this thief a headache she's never going to forget!", Alvida threatened, making Salvia growl angrily.
"Uh, guys? You heard her. Let's go.", Coby whispered.
"But why?", Luffy asked.
"You saw how powerful her club is. And of all the villainous cheats in all these waters, she's easily the most...!", Coby began in fear before remembering Luffy and Salvia's words.
"I decided long ago that I'm gonna be King of the Pirates. If I have to die fighting for that, then I die.", Luffy responded.
"Who knows if we run into someone bigger, or stronger than us for that matter? So, I need to get as big as I possibly can so I can protect my brother, Luffy, much less our crewmates after we assembled a crew of our own, and help them out when I need to, not just offensively, but defensively, too. All so I can help Luffy achieve his dream. You get what I'm saying?", Salvia explained as it went back to the present.
Coby now knew what he had to do.
"Go on. Tell me.", Alvida dared.
After a moment, Coby finally worked up the nerve to say what she really is.
"YOU'RE THE MOST UGLIEST THING ON THE SEA!", Coby shouted.
This response left Salvia and the orange-haired woman just as shocked and in awe as Alvida's crew.
"Huh?", Salvia puzzled.
Meanwhile, Alvida suddenly had sullen eyes in response. And what's worse, she was getting angry. But Coby no longer cared (well, not as much, at least) as Luffy started laughing and the woman started giggling.
"Well, you're not wrong there.", the orange-haired woman snickered.
"What'd you say?!", Alvida exclaimed before dropping the woman.
"I'm leaving and I'm gonna join the marines! Then, I'm gonna spend the rest of my life beating up dirty pirates like you!", Coby shouted.
"Do you have any clue what you're saying to me right now?", Alvida asked.
"Of course, I do and I'm gonna do what I want and no one's gonna stop me! And when I join the marines, I'm gonna join 'em, and I'M GONNA CATCH YOUR LOUSY BUTT FIRST!", Coby shouted.
"YOU'RE DEAD, KID!", Alvida snapped before roaring as she drew her club with Coby screaming, although he was thinking to himself.
"No regrets! No regrets! I did it! I said what I wanted to and I fought for my dream!", Coby thought.
"Well said.", Luffy said, stopping Coby's screams.
Then, Alvida swung her club down only for Salvia to stop the club with her bare hand with a smirk.
"What?!", Alvida reacted in shock.
"Hate to break it to you, Alvida, but your club won't work on me.", Salvia smirked right before clutching onto the club, causing it to not only chip and crack all around, but also, eventually shatter into pieces, leaving everyone shocked at what just occurred.
"Of course your iron club broke apart. What do you expect? All this chub on my body isn't just for show.", Salvia said.
Then, to everyone else's surprise and Coby's astonishment, Salvia turned from big and fat to big and buff (all while keeping her own mobility in mind) in a matter of seconds.
"No way! She just turned all her bulk into muscle?!", the woman puzzled in awe.
"No...! Don't tell me that this...! THIS is your true strength?!", Alvida exclaimed.
"Ding ding, we have a winner! Now show our player what she's won, Luffy.", Salvia smirked.
"You got it!", Luffy grinned before he stretched his arm all the way past the back of the pirate ship, his hand enclosed into a fist while Salvia stretched out her left arm and flexed causing her fist to glow.
"Gum-Gum...!", Luffy began.
"Chub-Chub...!", Salvia said in unison.
"PISTOL!", Luffy shouted.
"SUCKER PUNCH!", Salvia shouted at the same time.
It was only a matter of time before both Luffy and Salvia's techniques hit Alvida squarely in the gut. Not just that, but they were also pushing her right off the ship. Unfortunately, the woman was launched off the ship as well. Fortunately, for her, she landed very close to the ship. Alvida, though, wasn't so lucky. For her case, the crewmate whacked off the ship by her club was floating and looking up at the sun.
"The sky's so pretty and blue out here.", the crewmate said before noticing Alvida about to land on top of him.
He was too late to react as she landed, causing a big splash of ocean water. Luffy retracted his arm back into his body and flexed while Salvia passed out from exhaustion and turned back to her chubby self, shocking the rest of Alvida's crew on board.
"Hey, you!", Luffy shouted.
"Yes?!", the crew shouted.
"Go find a boat and give it to Coby. He's leaving your ship to join the marines. You're not gonna stop him. And you're gonna let this woman take your treasure from this ship. You're not supposed to stop her, either!", Luffy ordered.
"Uh..., yeah, sure!", the crew agreed, afraid of what Salvia, let alone Luffy would do to them.
"Thanks, guys.", Coby grinned.
Suddenly, Luffy heard shouting from nearby.
"HELP! CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT HERE?! I CAN'T SWIM!", the woman shouted.
This prompted Luffy to head to the back of the ship and noticed the woman struggling to stay afloat.
"That's odd. Why aren't you moving?", Luffy asked.
"WOULD YOU JUST SHUT UP, GET OVER HERE, AND HELP ME!?", the woman shouted.
Just then, a few cannonballs struck, landing near the boats. Sure enough, Luffy and Coby saw where the cannonballs came from.
"Look! It's the marines.", Coby said.
"Ooh! Perfect timing. Head over there and tell 'em you wanna join!", Luffy grinned, puzzling Coby.
"But that thief needs help and we're pirates, so we're outta here.", Luffy said, taking Salvia with him before he jumped off with her.
"No, wait! You can't be serious! I approach them like this, they'll just capture me like another pirate!", Coby shouted in worry.
Moments later, Luffy and Coby, with Salvia in tow, hopped aboard a boat and landed onto the ocean water before swimming over to the drowning woman.
"Geez, took you long enough!", the woman said before Luffy held out his hand.
"Here. Grab on.", Luffy said before she did in a hurry with Luffy pulling her out into the boat.
She panted as she sat down.
"Uh..., are you okay, miss?", Coby asked.
"Barely... But thanks for asking.", the woman sighed.
"Why didn't you just swim?", Luffy asked, making the woman gasp in a bit of a shock while Luffy gasped, too, but in more of a surprise than in shock.
"Are you like me?", Luffy guessed.
Of course, this prompted the woman to smack him upside his head.
"NO, YOU MORON! I JUST CAN'T SWIM, THAT'S ALL!", the woman shouted.
"Uh, Luffy, let's get outta here before we get her any madder...!", Coby shivered.
"Okay, so you just can't swim. Okay. I get it.", Luffy said.
"Good. So..., Luffy, was it? Thanks for the assist. Really.", the woman thanked.
"You're welcome, Ms..., uh...", Luffy began.
"Nami. The name's Nami.", Nami greeted.
"Oh. Well, it's great to meet you, Nami.", Luffy said as the boat started sailing away.
"Yeah. I-It IS nice to meet you, Nami!", Coby agreed, a bit nervous.
"Aw, thanks.", Nami thanked before she thought to herself.
"Well, that was close. I could've been in big trouble back there.", Nami sighed before looking back to Luffy, Salvia, and Coby.
"Although..., working with those two could be beneficial...", Nami said to herself before widening her eyes and shaking her head.
"Come on, Nami! That's not gonna work! Besides, all you need now is that treasure and then...", Nami said to herself before realizing what happened as she widened her eyes in shock.
"Oh, no...! Don't tell me...!", Nami spoke in shock before remembering the time when Alvida was struck and sent flying away.
It turned out that when they launched Alvida away, they didn't just launch Nami away by accident. They also accidentally blew the treasure away toward the bottom of the sea.
"When they blew Alvida away, they sank all that treasure into the bottom of the ocean...!", Nami thought to herself in shock.
"Huh? What's the matter, Nami? Something wrong?", Luffy asked.
Then, as shocked as she was, she started to get angrier and angrier as her face practically turned red right before she suddenly leapt toward Luffy in anger and put his head in the water.
"LUFFY! THAT BAG WAS WORTH AROUND 5,000,000 BERRIES AND YOU JUST SANK IT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN, YOU IDIOT! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD I WORKED TO STEAL IT?! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!", Nami scolded angrily as the boat rocked back and forth from her trying to drown Luffy, frightening poor Coby and starting to wake Salvia up in time to see what was going on.
"Stop, I can't swim!", Luffy exclaimed.
"THAT'S THE WHOLE IDEA!", Nami exclaimed.
"If you want it, just go back and get it, then!", Luffy shouted.
"I CAN'T DO THAT! YOU GO GET IT!", Nami shouted.
"No! It's dangerous! I could die, you know!", Luffy shouted.
"I don't care! And if you do that again, I really WILL throw you in the ocean!", Nami warned.
But then, she noticed Salvia's shadow creeping up on Nami, worrying her before she turned to see Salvia awake.
"If you do that to Luffy, I'll throw YOU in the ocean!", Salvia threatened.
This left Nami in a bit of a panic. Just then, Coby spoke up, trying to break everyone up.
"Hey, easy, guys! Why don't we just calm down and apologize before things spiral out of control? Okay? If you keep this up, the boat will be capsized for sure.", Coby requested, a bit nervous.
Salvia and Nami both became embarrassed before turning to each other.
"So, you promise you won't toss him into the ocean?", Salvia asked.
"Uh... J-Just as long as no more treasure gets sunk into the ocean like with Alvida just now.", Nami responded.
This left Salvia flustered before she gave an embarrassed look.
"Yeah... Sorry about what happened to your treasure back there. Sometimes, I get carried away like this. When that happens, I usually end up exhausted and pass out cold.", Salvia explained.
"Really? So that's why you were taking a nap just now.", Nami realized.
"Yeah. You got me.", Salvia giggled in response.
"Well, in any case, I'm sorry, too. For the way I acted. I just really love money.", Nami responded.
"You just better be sure to keep that love for gold in check, okay?", Salvia suggested before holding out her hand.
"That said, you got yourself a deal.", Salvia grinned.
Nami was puzzled for a moment before then taking it and shaking it.
"So, what brings you out to the sea, anyway? I mean, you didn't just come all this way to steal Alvida's treasure.", Salvia asked.
"Well, that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm a thief who only steals strictly from pirates.", Nami responded.
"So, you're like Robin Hood? Cool.", Salvia grinned, surprising Nami.
"You read Robin Hood?", Nami asked.
"Mm-hmm.", Salvia nodded.
"No way! I thought I was the only one! I wonder if Luffy read it, too...", Nami thought before more cannonballs landed in the water, causing Nami to stammer in surprise.
"Uh, maybe we should talk more when we aren't in the middle of an attack from the marines?", Nami suggested.
"Great idea.", Salvia agreed just as a cannonball was falling before it hit the water.
Moments later, Coby spoke his amazement.
"We actually managed to get away.", Coby said.
"Ahh. What fun.", Luffy spoke before laughing.
"Honestly, I don't know how you can put up with this...", Nami sighed.
"Well, he is my brother.", Salvia responded.
"So, Luffy.", Coby began.
"Huh?", Luffy puzzled.
"If you're searching for the elusive One Piece, then you guys have to be headed for the Grand Line, right?", Coby asked.
"Mm-hmm.", Luffy nodded.
"And he's not going alone.", Salvia responded.
"You know, the people I've talked to call that place the Pirate Graveyard.", Coby responded.
"Right. And that's why we need an extra strong crew.", Luffy responded.
"You mentioned something about Pirate Hunter Zoro. What's he like, Coby?", Salvia asked.
"Last I heard, he was being held prisoner at some marine base.", Coby explained.
"Hold on, THE Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro?!", Nami shouted.
"Who else could it be?", Coby asked.
"Oh, well. Weakling, huh?", Luffy asked.
"Are you crazy?! He's anything but! He's as violent as a demon and 3 times as horrifying!", Nami shouted.
"You took those words right out of my mouth, Nami. And why are you asking about him, anyway?", Coby asked.
Luffy and Salvia then gave a giggle before the former replied.
"I figure if he's good enough, I'd ask him to join our crew.", Luffy responded, making both Nami and Coby stammer.
"Seriously?! Chasing him down is just downright reckless!", Nami exclaimed.
"Well, you never know. Given the right circumstances, he might jump at the chance to join us.", Salvia responded.
"Exactly.", Luffy concurred.
"He's a bad enough guy if the marines caught him! No way! Not a chance! Forget it! No...!", Coby began before he got bonked on the head again.
"Ow!", Coby exclaimed.
"Why'd you do THAT for, Luffy?", Salvia and Nami asked in unison.
"'Cause I felt like it.", Luffy responded.
"Oh, what am I ever going to do with you guys?", Nami sighed.
Meanwhile, on an island known as Shells Town, there stood a muscular man of average height with lightly tanned skin, not to mention with a dark green bandana, a white sleeveless shirt, and dark green pants of the same color as his bandana. He looked up forward with a glare.

A/N: And there we have it, Roronoa Zoro is in Luffy and Salvia's sights. I think we all know where this is headed. Well, most of us, anyway, since Nami is coming along earlier this time. As for what other potential Devil Fruits there are that haven't debuted yet, perhaps you can say what other Devil Fruits may appear, especially their type and what powers they can grant for the user who eats them. It's a pretty unexpected start to say the least, either way.
