Season 6 follows a new format. This season depicts the spring semester of 2019-2020. The second half of the season depicts the fall semester of the 2020-2021 year. It chronicles the Degrassi 9th – 12th-grade teenagers and follows their lives as they deal with the typical issues and challenges of teenage life, such as sexuality, alcoholism, eating disorders, and self-esteem.

The screen fades in on a picturesque winter scene of Degrassi High. Snowflakes fall gently as the camera pans over the familiar buildings and landmarks. Suddenly, a voiceover interrupts the peaceful scene.

"Welcome back to Degrassi," the voice says. "This winter, get ready for a season of love, loss, and everything in between."

The screen transitions to a shot of a wedding invitation, with the names "Jack" and "Decker" prominently displayed. The camera then cuts to a shot of the happy couple, who are beaming with joy and excitement.

"But as one relationship blossoms, others are about to be put to the test," the voiceover continues. The camera then shows a tense argument between Ivy and Dev, who seem to be on the brink of a breakup.

"But that's not all," the voiceover teases. "A new baby is coming to Degrassi, and it's going to shake things up in a big way." The camera then shows Emma, who is beaming with excitement as Spinner walks away with a look of disappointment.

"As some relationships are strained, others are strengthened," the voiceover concludes. The camera then shows a montage of familiar faces, including Adrian, Harvey, and Danielle, who are all returning to Degrassi for the first time in years.

"So join us this winter for a season of drama, romance, and all the ups and downs that come with being a teenager," the voiceover says as the screen fades to black. "Degrassi: The New Era returns, this winter."
