Rivercourt Rambles

Chapter 32

authors note : Lucas get's a suggestion from Anna. As Brooke decides to revisit her past.

Lucas sighed deeply. As he exited out of the word document.

His mind was blank for inspiration.

"Looks like you need a distraction." Anna said. Announcing her presence with lunch in hand.

"Everything started off better then i ever expected. I can't just walk away." Lucas replied.

"What's keeping you here. This office. This career.?" Anna asked.

Lucas couldn't honestly answer that. He knew what was keeping him there.

But he didn't want to share that with Anna. He realized in that moment.

"When i made the decision to create boundaries with my family and keep them out of my life. I needed help with that."

"I went to therapy and it helped. I still go but not to this person."

"I think you should check it out. Go and see if it could help." Anna suggested. Handing over the therapist's contact card.

Clothes over Bros

Brooke entered her store. Turned on the lights. And felt tears well up in her eyes. The sight of the empty clothing racks made her sad.

She had so many sketches. Turned to outfits. In her design room.

She wondered if she was wrong or selfish for wanting the career. Along with her family life. Especially since her husband's career was going through a downward spiral.

...

With Lucas alone in his office now. He decided instead of ripping the card up and throwing it away. That he would instead call the number and book an appointment.

His career was falling. His marriage was in a weird place. And the only stable thing that was positive in his life was his kids.

So why not talk to someone not involved. Who could provide perspective.? Lucas thought to himself.

Days later when he went through the therapist office door. On a morning he would normally be at work.

"Welcome Mr. Scott. Get comfortable."

"We can start the conversation anywhere you want. You're past. You're present." The therapist explained.
