Chapter 29
Chapter Text
"Sho?" Mic asked, startled as his husband rushed past him and into their bedroom.
"Go," Katsuki said, lifting his chin in the direction Shota had gone, "we're good here. Todoroki is asleep on his feet. I'll help him get settled."
"Thanks, Kats," Mic said, making eye contact with Todoroki, who gave a small nod, before leaving the room to investigate. "I'll…um…get diner organized...in a minute."
The door to their room wasn't fully closed, but Shota was just standing in the middle of the room, staring at nothing.
"Sho?" Mic asked, pushing the door to their room open slowly. They both had a fair amount of PTSD to deal with thanks to their chosen careers and sudden moves were a no go when either of them was upset. "Honey?"
"Izuku's a time traveler."
"Um… gonna admit, that's not what I was expecting you to say."
"He was sent back to stop the apocalypse."
If these words were coming from anyone else, Mic was sure he'd be laughing and looking for hidden cameras. But this was Shota, the man he'd loved since they were both fifteen and the person he trusted more than any other. Shota wouldn't make up shit like this.
"How do you know?"
"He has memories of a future that hasn't happened yet and knows things about the past that he shouldn't."
"Anything in particular?" Mic asked, trying to understand what had upset his husband this much. Shota was usually a pragmatic kind of guy. A time traveler arrives to stop the apocalypse? Okay, great where do we start?
Yes, he was human, and yes Mic saw way more of his emotions that Shota shared with others, but something about his reaction suggested what Izuku told him was far more personal.
"He knows about Oboro."
Mic nodded slowly. Oboro's death hit them both hard, but they'd had years to process the emotions and come to an internal peace with it. They missed him every single day, but they'd stopped asking "what if" questions a long time ago.
"He also knows that Kurogiri is a nomu and that nomu are made using human corpses."
That did not sound pleasant at all.
Especially when Mic put the two things together.
"You think Kurogiri was made using Oboro's corpse?"
"Izuku believes it's true."
"Kurogiri seemed more autonomous than the other nomu, but from what I understand he did follow Shigaraki's orders without question," Mic said, trying to reconcile his memories of a loud, energetic boy riding on one of his clouds with the warp gate nomu that might have killed half of 1A if Hitoshi hadn't been able to capture him in his quirk.
"It might explain why he relaxed when I hit him with my quirk."
"You think it was familiar to him? That Oboro is still in there?"
Shota looked completely distressed as he shook his head helplessly. "I don't know."
"What about Izuku? Can he tell us anything more?"
Shota swore viciously as he pushed Mic toward the bedroom door and then he grabbed his hand and rushed to Hitoshi's room. "Kid," Shota said, moving to embrace their son. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking."
"It's okay, Dad," Hitoshi said, holding his dad just as fiercely. "I know why. Zuku explained it."
"Hell," Mic said, moving to embrace his husband and son, "you're sharing his memories?"
"Yeah," Hitoshi said. "I won't abandon him. Please don't ask me to."
"Oh, sweetheart," Mic said, not bothering to blink away the tears that filled his eyes. "I always knew you'd be an amazing hero. I just never expected you to have to start so young."
Hitoshi gave him a tight smile, clearly trying not to cry.
"Izuku, are you still here?" Shota asked.
A black whip appeared and bobbed up and down.
"Sorry, kid. I didn't mean to abandon either of you. I'm sorry if it seemed that way."
"He understands, Dad. We both do."
"But you shouldn't have to," Shota said, obviously frustrated with the situation, not with either of the kids.
"Zuku is going to type everything he can remember, but he wants you to edit it before we give it to the… The fuck? Zuku?" Hitoshi was quiet for a moment before turning his head into his dad's shoulder the way he'd often done when they'd first adopted him. "We have an enemy plant in our class," he mumbled. "His quirk was given to him by All for One, but Zuku said he's as much a victim as everyone else."
"Who?" Shota asked, clearly trying to control his emotions.
"Aoyama." Hitoshi was quiet for another moment, obviously listening to Izuku's explanation. "He's the reason the League of Villains knows where summer camp is, but he's not really a willing accomplice. All for One tagged him with some tracking quirk when he gave him the belly laser quirk, so even when Aoyama tells him information that's not entirely accurate, he'll still know where Aoyama is."
"Okay, we'll deal with that when we need to. Right now I want both of you to take a break from world shattering stuff and do something else." He glanced at Mic. "Maybe watch a movie? Or play that game you and your papa always enjoy."
"Minecraft?" Hitoshi asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I can't believe that game is still popular," Mic said, happy to grasp the change of subject and run with it. "Even Nedzu has played it."
"Seriously?" Hitoshi asked, before clearing his throat and repeating the word in a much higher, more excited tone of voice.
"Are you trying to imitate Izuku's voice?" Mic asked, grinning widely. "Because I'm pretty sure he didn't sound like a chipmunk on a caffeine high."
Hitoshi laughed softly and finally moved out of their arms and toward his laptop. Mic stayed to cuddle his husband close.
"Izuku's never played Minecraft," Hitoshi said as his computer booted up. "So I'm going to explain how it works and show him around my island."
"Okay," Mic said, glad that the boys might get a reprieve from their worries, even if it was only temporary. "We're just going to go check on Kats and Todoroki."
"No worries," Hitoshi said, waving absently toward the door. "We're good here. I promise we're taking a break."
"Okay," Shota said, "we'll order some food for delivery. We'll let you know when it's here."
"Thanks, Dad."
Shota nodded and then followed Mic to the door. When they stepped into the hallway Shota gave him one of his tiny, grateful smiles, the ones he saved just for Mic. "Thanks. Love you."
"Always and forever," Mic said, repeating the vows they'd shared long ago.
Shota pressed a soft kiss to his lips. "Always and forever."

"We didn't tell them about Eri," Hitoshi said the moment his dads had left the room.
"There's nothing they can do right now," Izuku said, apparently trying to hide his intentions from Hitoshi. "I'll do some research later to see if I can find a location."
"Don't do anything stupid, Zuku."
"It's just reconnaissance. No one will even know I'm there."
Several hours later…
Izuku swore violently. Thank fuck no one could hear him.
Eri was exactly where she'd been the day they'd rescued her.
So was Chisaki.
And so were a couple of representatives from the HPSC.
What the ever-loving fuck was going on?
