Author's Note: This was based on an idea from a pal of mine on discord. I thought it could be a neat one-shot I could write out for Asuka's birthday this year! Like how the last Asuka centric one-shot I made was on Asuka's birthday last year. Any who, on to it.
Asuka sighed and rubbed her eyes as she stepped aboard the crowded metro train, deciding to stand and hold on to the handrails rather than try to find a seat that would get her crammed between two people. She held tight to the metal bar as the automated doors of the train car closed and the whole cabin jolted as the train started moving along the tracks.
The redhead gazed out the window at the afternoon sky for a moment while massaging her hand on her thigh, before she then adjusted her satchel book bag so that she could pull out her phone from her pocket. She opened it and tapped on the text app. Barely even sparing a glance at her contacts she clicked precisely on the one she wanted. Her boyfriends. While not difficult for Asuka, it did require more effort from her to type with her thumb while she held her phone.
(Hey.)
(You better be at your place, I'm coming over.)
She texted despite knowing he should be home at the moment since she knew his schedule, though she wanted to make sure he didn't go to do something else.
It took a moment before she saw that they were typing back a response.
(I'm home)
(You didnt lose your key right?)
.
(Of course I didn't lose my key, dummy.)
(I'm not an idiot.)
.
(Ah just making sure)
(But you can still come over even when Im not home you know)
(I dont mind at all)
.
(Why would I want to go over if you're not going to be there?)
(I don't want to wait around.)
.
(Well you dont have to worry about that then)
(Im here)
(I even bought those little icecream cup things youre so fond of)
(So youll have those waiting here for you)
(And ill gladly wait around for you as well)
.
(You dummy!)
Feeling her face slightly heat up, Asuka dipped her head into her jacket sleeve so as to try and hide the small blush that was now adorning her cheeks from being viewed by any other passengers. Fortunately for her, no one else in the passenger car was paying attention to her.
Looking out one of the windows of the train, she saw that she would be nearing the next station. Turning back to her phone, the girl sent another text and this time there was less time passed before a reply came.
(I'll be there soon.)
.
(Alright)
(See you soon ;) )
Upon seeing the message, the redhead proceeded to again hide her face in her jacket.
As the train started slowing to a stop at the station, Asuka slid her phone back into her pocket and readjusted her bag on her shoulder. She let go of the handrail as it stopped and stood ready for the doors to open.
She started moving as soon as the doors opened, keeping a pace to be faster than the crowd following behind her as she navigated through more people to leave the station platform.
Getting away from all the people gathered at the station, she let out a breath of relief to be away from them and started to follow a path she had learned over the past year.
It wasn't exactly the best or most luxurious apartment, the one her boyfriend lived in, but it was at least not a slum. Though that didn't mean Asuka thought it was all that great either. The whole apartment complex itself was just a large stone gray and monotonous thing.
'At least it must not cost much to live here, or at least it shouldn't' She thought as she shook her head but nonetheless entered the building. Walking through the halls and not paying much mind to anybody else who may be in them as well as she walked through them.
Once she was in front of the right door, she felt herself slightly relax as she reached into a pocket on the side of her bag. While she could knock, she felt a need to show that she did not lose her key to the apartment. She pulled out said key and used it to unlock the door and open it.
Letting out a breath, she moved into the apartment and closed the door behind her before slipping out of her sneakers and putting on the nearby set of slippers, bought specifically for her. They are of course colored red.
The main room of the apartment was rather empty, only having a low table that could seat about four people around it along with a small TV on a small shelf with some electronic device boxes on a shelf below it. The room connected to a small hallway and also opened into the kitchen.
"Ah, Asuka, you're here." Called a voice from said kitchen.
Turning her head up to look into the kitchen she saw the occupant of the apartment was in it. Her sapphire eyes locked with his ruby ones and she saw the warm smile grow on his pale face as he made his way to her and gave her a loose embrace and a kiss on the lips.
It was of course her boyfriend, Kaworu Nagisa.
"It's nice that you were finally able to come over again, Asuka." The gray-haired boy welcomed as he broke apart from her.
"Ugh yeah, I'm glad I'm done with finals, now I can actually relax." She sighed while taking off her jacket and hanging it on the nearby coat rack, before then noticing the cup of ice cream in her boyfriend's hand, and promptly grabbing it from him.
He only blinked at the sudden snatching of the cup from his grasp.
"It's been too long since I've gotten to eat any sweets." The redhead said aloud as she took off the plastic wrapped spoon attached to the cup and opened both the wrapper and the ice cream cup.
"Ah, I actually was planning to eat that one before you got here," The boy shrugged, still smiling, "But I did buy them for you, so… enjoy."
Asuka however wasn't paying much attention as she put the plastic wrapper in the boy's hand and began eating the ice cream, letting out a pleased sound as she tasted the cold and sweet confection. It was strawberry flavored, her favorite.
"Mm, nothing like ice cream after a long day of tests." The girl breathed a near moan as she went for another bite.
Meanwhile Kaworu had quickly discarded the wrapper she gave him into the trash of his kitchen before returning to her. He huffed slightly as he saw her still just savoring her dessert treat, but still grinning.
"I'm sure you'd want to sit down and unwind, despite you spending most of the day sitting in a chair," He told her as tugged on her shirt sleeve and led her to his room. She simply just followed, allowing her to be led while still eating away at the treat in her hands.
His room wasn't that large, or perhaps it just seemed that way, as it had much more occupying it compared to the main room of the apartment. The boy had a rather large twin mattress bed, a chair and desk with a computer on it, a nightstand, and a dresser with some books on it.
Setting down her bookbag, she and Kaworu both sat on the edge of the bed, however Asuka then started leaning back with a groan as she relaxed, being careful not to spill the rest of the now melty ice cream in her cup. Kaworu just looked at his girlfriend with mirth in his eyes as she laid on her back eating melted strawberry ice cream.
"Well… I already have an idea of how it went, but why don't you tell me how your day went?" He asked to which she turned her eyes to him and finished the last of her confection.
"Ugh, it was pretty much just me sitting at one of those lousy desks they provide and working on a stupid paper test for four hours," Asuka complained with a huff, "The test wasn't even that hard, just long. And because they decided to use paper, my hand started to cramp from using one of those crappy pencils. It's better now though."
"Hmm, yes it does sound like it would be quite tiring to write on paper for hours at a time, especially for such a test, I imagine it will be a pain for me when I take mine next week." The pale boy mollified. "Do you think you'll pass?"
"Of course I will," Came the immediate reply, "Like I said, it wasn't even that hard of a test. So that lunatic professor would have to be an idiot to fail me."
"Glad to see you're still confident as usual." He chuckled.
"Obviously I am, I'm the best after all, so of course I'll pass and be done with that class." The redhead boasted. Her boyfriend chuckled at her inadvertent rhyme before then tilted his head slightly.
"Do you think you'll miss it?" His question came in a curious tone.
"No way, I can't wait to be out of that class." She reaffirmed.
"No? You won't miss anything then? Not even the professor?" Kaworu inquired with some interest.
"Pfft no, I'm not going to miss it or her." The girl shook her head.
"Oh? I was under the impression that you and your professor were close, she's even got that nickname for you. What did you say it was again? Princess, right?" He said with a teasing grin on his pale face.
"Ugh, shut up! Professor Makinami gives everybody a nickname, some of them don't even make sense at all." Asuka retorted with a blush.
"Well, she certainly came up with a quite fitting nickname for you, I'll give her that." The boy admitted.
"Shut up!" Asuka groaned as she hid her face in a pillow, but Kaworu only chuckled in response, leading for the redhead to glare at her boyfriend though her flushed face made it hardly serious.
"Well don't worry, Princess," he cheekily continued, "You don't have to deal with any more tests or classes or anything for at least a couple more days, and certainly not while you're here."
"...thanks." Her response was somewhat muffled by the pillow. Remembering the empty cup she had in her hand; Asuka turned back at her boyfriend and held it out to him.
"Get me another ice cream cup." She demanded of him as she also shook the empty cup she held in her hand, signaling for him to take it away. He of course did so, taking the empty cup while also standing up to do as she commanded.
"Alright, but I'd advise you to try to not eat the whole pack in one sitting, or else you won't have any for later." The gray-haired boy told his girlfriend. Asuka, slightly affronted, only huffed and stuck her tongue at him as he went to fetch her another one of her sweets.
It was only a minute before he returned to her with a new cup in hand and offered it to her.
"Here you are, or would you like me to feed it to you, my princess." The boy jokingly said with an amused expression. However, Asuka just looked at the proffered plastic cup, but didn't move to grab it. Then she looked at him and back at the cup. After a moment, she looked back at him with another blush on her face.
"... Yes, I want you to feed me." Her muffled words surprised her boyfriend for a brief moment, before he then got a smirk on his face.
"Pardon? I don't think I heard you correctly" He got his intended effect when he saw her blush harder.
"I said I do want you to feed me, dummy!" The girl reiterated.
"Ah I see, very well then, your wish is my command." He told her as he moved to sit next to where she was laying her head and started to unwrap and open the cup and spoon.
The redhead then sat up a bit and leaned against his arm. Scooping up a spoonful of the ice cream, he then brought it up to his girlfriend's lips to which she opened them and allowed him to feed her. Pulling the spoon back, Kaworu then got her another spoonful and repeated feeding her. Then did so again, and again. All the while, the pale boy had yet another smile on his face as he catered to his partner.
"Heh, you sure do like this stuff, huh?" The boy stated as he fed her another scoop.
"Yeah, so what? It's good." She defended to which the boy chuckled.
"Ice cream is good, though I prefer cookies and cream more than strawberry." He took the next scoop and ate it rather than feed it to his girlfriend.
"Hey!" Asuka indignantly cried at seeing him take a bite of her confection.
"Though while I'm sure you could subsist on strawberry ice cream, we should probably think about eating some actual food for dinner, what do you think?" Kaworu inquired as he went back to feeding her.
"Yeah, we probably should get something else to eat." She agreed as she ate another bite.
"Well, what do you want to have for dinner then?" He scooped up the last of the sweet and fed it to her, giving her a moment to swallow it while putting the empty cup on the nightstand.
"Hmm, after today I'm really in the mood for junk food, and I don't want to go anywhere, so let's just order a pizza in a bit." Asuka generally tried to keep a good diet, but on certain days like these, she felt indulgent.
"That works, we can order a pizza here in a while and watch some movies too, though what were you thinking of for toppings?" Placing a pale hand on her head, he ran his fingers through it as she stayed leaning into his side.
"Obviously some meat like pepperoni and sausage, maybe bacon, and I guess you -yawn- can put on those dumb olives you like on it." His girlfriend covered her mouth as she yawned the second half of her statement.
"Alright then, I can order it later, but are you feeling tired?" He asked as he ran his hand through Asuka's hair, an action both found soothing.
"A little bit." She answered as she rubbed her eyes.
"You can take a nap in my bed and I can wake you up when the food gets here if you'd like." Her boyfriend offered.
"...mm, yeah that sounds good." The now tired redhead accepted.
"Then I'll let you nap while I set things up for dinner and a movie, 'kay?" Kaworu reiterated.
"M'kay" Asuka agreed as he got up from the bed and allowed her to lay back down on it, but this time he pulled his blanket over her. The gray-haired boy then leaned over her and brushed some of her hair away as he gave her a quick kiss before pulling away from here.
"Alright, I'll do that, you just enjoy your nap, Asuka" He told her as he got up and picked up the empty ice cream cup from his night.
"...thanks, Kaworu." She muttered as she closed her eyes.
He paused for a moment.
"You're welcome, Asuka." The boy said aloud as he turned off the lights and left the room, closing the door behind him so that his girlfriend could nap in peace.
