Bella

"Well, that went... better than expected."

Jake is practically bouncing in his seat, "And they gave us the keys for the house... and we can start moving in..."

"Ok, first, they gave ME the keys to the house... You live with your dad... and second... yes, I can start moving in." I correct with a laugh.

When we first got to the council hall, I was so nervous. I knew I was going to be allowed to move onto the Rez given my position with the pack, but I didn't know that I was going to so soon. And when we told them about the DNA results, they acted like it was just evidence of the theory they were already assuming. Of course, Sam was a little taken aback about the news that we were related, but he seemed okay with it by the end of the meeting. Now, Jacob and I were heading back to my house after our "study session" to tell Charlie that I had gotten the keys to the house. But this is where it was going to be a little tough... working in the news about our heritage.

When we pulled in, Charlie was sitting in the living room watching some random news report about some missing kids in Seattle.

"Char- Dad, Can we talk?"

"Uh-oh." Charlie sat up and muted the TV. "What's up, Bells?"

"You know how I told you that I wanted to move out before graduation? Well, I found a place. Only thing is it's on the reservation."

"To live on the reservation, you have to be Quileute. So that won't work. And even though I know Sue and Billy, there's really not anything I can do to sway their decision."

Jake and I exchange a knowing look, "Yeah, thing is... Turns out, that isn't going to be a problem... I knew that was a rule... and I knew that you and your family have lived here for generations... so, on a whim, I took a DNA mapping test thing. Turns out I am 0.195% Quileute. Which means, in turn, that you also have Quileute heritage. But this means that according to the rules, I am able to move onto the Rez, no problem."

"Wait... We have a Quileute ancestor? Who? How!?" The look on Charlie's face is one of pure shock.

"Don't really know anything on the who, but we suspect that one of the guys on the Rez got a girl pregnant who wasn't part of the tribe, and she most likely didn't tell him or anyone about who their father was. Then, as time went on, we were raised off the Rez and our connection got weaker, but it was still there. It's possible that that is why you never wanted to leave and why I really felt at home when I moved here to Forks. More than anywhere else."

Charlie flopped back in his seat and then as if he suddenly realized he was still holding a beer, took a sip, "Huh... well that makes a little bit of sense. I was always so comfortable out on the Rez with Billy and Harry."

Jacob nodded his head and then commented, "as Native Americans, we are very tied to nature and our home, so because this is where we have had out tribe for so many generations, it is possible that you were feeling that natural pull between your Spirit man and the home of our people."

"So does this mean I have to move to the reservation too?"

"No, not at all! In fact, technically, now that the laws have changed, none of us have to live on the reservation, but we choose to do so to honor our heritage and all who went before us."

"Wow, we have Quileute blood. No wonder I love it here so much!" I let out a chuckle and settle down onto the couch and Jacob sits next to me. Charlie flips the channel to some ballgame and we sit there in silence for a while until my stomach growls.

Charlie looks at me in shock and then says, "I thought you guys were going to order pizza during your study session?"

"We were going to, but uh- some of the guys had to leave early, and so... it just slipped our mind to get something on the way home." Jake covers smoothly. "Did you eat?"

"Yeah, but the sauce of the leftovers had kinda separated, getting all greasy... so I didn't eat much of it. Why don't we order some pizza now."

"Oh thank God! I am STARVING! Sausage and Veggie pizza for me. What about you guys?" I jump up to grab the phone.

"Sausage? I thought you were vegetarian." Charlie asked shocked.

"Uh- yeah... About that, I have been working out a bit and really need more protein in my life."

"I thought I noticed you getting buff." Charlie reasoned

"What? I'm not buff! Toned maybe, but not buff." I shoot back in mock horror.

Charlie mouths to Jacob, *toned, not buff*, and Jacob bites back a laugh. I whip around to look at him, and jokingly say, "I didn't ask for any comments from the peanut gallery."

"Oh! yup! Meat lovers for me." Jake laughs and throws in his order.

"I can eat some of yours, if that's ok with you," Charlie says to Jake.

"Well, actually... I kinda can eat a whole large on my own."

"A large? More like two larges." I say with a laugh and throw a soft punch at Jake's arm.

"I guess, order a small for me then... jeez, where did this appetite come from? Is this a Quileute thing? Everyone eats a ton?"

"No, Dad. Just a Jacob thing."

"Well, you too, you've eaten more in a month than I have seen you eat in a year. "

"Good point." I end the conversation by dialing the number for the pizza place, and placing the order. Then, the rest of the night, we talk, eat pizza, and just enjoy one of my last few nights living under Charlie's roof.
