Bella
Well, I seem to have finally gotten into a good routine with everything. Patrols with Jacob, bonfires and dinners with the pack, starting the new job in the office at the school on the reservation, occasionally having a girl's night with Emily. We have been trying to get Leah to come around- now that she isn't the only female shifter now- but the whole Emily-Sam-Leah thing is still a point of contention. I moved onto the reservation a while ago, Charlie is dating Sue- and they seem to be getting pretty serious... we may be planning a wedding soon. And to be honest, I couldn't be happier. Charlie deserves to be happy. But, one thing still weighing on my mind is that at some point, I am going to have to come clean about being a wolf. If he and Sue get married, then all three of their kids- and one day, son-in-law- being wolves is going to have to be known. Probably sooner rather than later. In fact, Jacob and I were talking about that on patrol this morning. We probably need to tell him before the summer is over.
Today, I had a training at the school... and I got the final roster of students that I need to work on getting administrative stuff done for. A lot of the kids on the roster are my now fellow pack members. Sometimes it is still hard to believe that this is my life. I mean if you would have told me even six months ago that I would be dating Jacob, Edward would be out of my life completely... and that I would be a wolf... I probably would have laughed in your face and said that you needed to have your head examined. But I guess that is just the way life is... unpredictable.
I had just walked through the door this evening when my phone rang. I looked at the caller id to see that it was Charlie. "Hey Ch-dad, how's it going?"
"Hey Bells... Um, do you think you might be able to come over for dinner tonight?"
"Tonight? Sure. I don't think Jake and I have anything going on. What time do you want us to be there?"
"Actually, I think it should just be you. I need to talk to you about something."
"Yeah, sure. Around say... 7?"
"Yup. 7 is good. See ya soon. Bye."
*Well, that was weird*
~Later that night~
I pull into the drive and see Charlie's cruiser in the drive. The engine is still ticking, so I know he just got home. I put the truck into park and by the time I reach the door, unsure of whether to knock or just walk in, Charlie is there, and opens the door. And he looks as if he had just seen a ghost.
"Dad? What's wrong?" I step into the door and shut it behind me.
"Oh nothing... just want to talk to you. Then we can go get dinner. Sit down." We walk into the living room and for once, the TV is not on and he doesn't have a beer in his hand.
"It must be serious if you don't have any "Vitamin R"."
"Well... The thing is... Obviously you know that Sue and I have been together for a while. I've been hesitant to think about marriage... since your mom... but thing is... I love Sue. I want to be a part of her life. I want her with me. And I want to make sure that if I were to ask her to marry me, that you would be okay with it."
"Oh, dad! Of course! I would love to have Sue as my step-mom. But... Um... before we go down that road, there is something that we need to talk about... And I need to call Jake, Leah and Seth. We all need to talk to you."
"Oh boy." Charlie runs his hand over his face, and leans back into the couch as I send a message to Jake and the others to have them come over quickly.
It only took 20 minutes for everyone to get to the house.
"Okay, so we need to have a quick catch-up. Dad told me that he wants to ask Sue to marry him. First, I want to make sure that you guys are good with that."
"Dude! I am going to get to have you as a sister!? I've always wanted a sister?" but all that warrants is a punch on the arm from Leah, "haha! My statement stands." After a brief chuckle around the room, it is a consensus that Sue and Charlie getting married is a good thing.
"However, the thing is... there is something that we need to talk about... Dad... there is something we need to come clean about. And it pertains to all of us..." I throw a look around the room and everyone seems to get the message.
That's when Jake stands up, "Charlie... this is going to be... weird... jarring... but this is something that you need to know if you are going to get married to someone in the tribe. Do you remember the stories that we tell at the bonfires? About how we are descendants of wolves?"
"Yeah... but those are just stories. Legends."
Leah pipes up, "Well, they aren't really. And all of us... all four of us... are connected to these stories." As if by some subtle clue, Jake and Seth start to get undressed.
"Whoa! I am sure we can get through this conversation without all of the potential nudity." Charlie stutters and looks away.
