Alice

"Carlisle, I don't know how it is possible, but Bella just shifted right in front of me. Shifted into a big chocolate brown wolf. I don't really know how this happened, but Bella was spouting some crap about the legend of the third wife, true alpha, imprints and the great spirits... All sounded rather fairytale-ish."

Two days ago, I had a vision of the aftermath of a battle in Forks. Bodies strewn all around and a big bonfire. I knew that it had to do with Bella so the family and I- minus Edward- traveled to Portland to offer aid to the wolves as well as warn them of what was to come. I went to Charlie's house to find Bella only to have Charlie tell me that Bella had moved onto the reservation a while back. Then Bella came over for dinner and... well, I am sure you know.

"Alice, I don't know the logistics of it, but the Quileute people have a rich history. That could very well be what brought this on."

"Do we need to call Edward? I mean, I know he is still in Rio, but I could call him, tell him Bella is in danger and he needs to come here..."

"Honestly, I don't think that is a good idea." Esme pipes up, "He has really been going though a rough time since we all left. Of course, I don't have to tell you that Alice dear, but Edward is still in a very dark place."

"Yeah. When Rose and I went to visit him in January, we were actually a little worried he may go to the Volturi to ask them to kill him."

"Surely he wouldn't do that." Esme countered.

"Actually Esme, there was a couple times that I got a snippet of a vision of him provoking the Volturi... and therefore being put to death. It was a terrible vision. Most of the time, it changed pretty quickly, but there were a couple times they got clearer as he thought on it more and more. But it always changes again. He is still hurting. Grieving the loss. I would say we could try to get them back together, but with her now being the imprint of a wolf, that will most likely never happen again."

"But do we really know if that is true?" Emmett stands up and readjusts his hat, "I mean, Bella always seemed so at ease with us. Maybe we could convince her to change her mind."

"Em, I am pretty sure that ship has sailed. Besides, if this is what she has chosen, I stand with her. This way, she remains human. You know that has always been my vote." Rosalie offers up quietly.

The family doesn't say anything else, knowing that what Rose has said is true, and most likely the best course of action. But I just can't help thinking about how my brother will take the news.
