A Japanese Weresheep in Mutsuba Town

Pairing: Developing Yuhi x Chupataro.
Summary:
There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.
Chapter 37: Ｘ・Ｅ・Ｎ・Ｏ
As heart-pounding as it was for Yuhi to keep Nyandestar ahead of whatever it was that was chasing her, it was more heart-pounding for Nyandestar. She was running for her nine lives, the alien entity that'd devastated Val-Valvelgear's environmental controls veritably on her tail.
It was grotesque: some sort of parasite that'd taken a beheaded, swollen head resembling a dragon's as its host, but with eyes on green antennae growing out of the skull, bladed leg joints, and scythes for arms. It scuttled over the inside of the vent like a demented crab, another maw with inward curving fangs opening from within the dragon head's mouth, housing two more yellow eyes on green antennae, and a fat red tongue.
To be ensnared would mean ingestion by these jowls of dark demise.
"Nyandestar, the light up ahead! The light up ahead! That's the hub! Jump and hit the switch! It will lock it in!"
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Deprived of its prey, the monster battered the metal aperture with its "body," renouncing its claim when it realized it couldn't plow through by brute force.
"Oh no!"
"WHAT? WHAT?"
"It's going for the opposite duct! If it makes it there, it'll flee into the Alien Residential Area!"
"What do I have to do? How do I initiate the steam ejection sequence?"
"The valve to the left of you! You have to turn it a full circle and then release the pressure by pulling the lever!"
"I've got it!" It was no cakewalk with paws, but the lives of every man, woman, child, and alien in Mutsuba Town were at stake! She couldn't let that thing roam free in the Alien Residential Area!
Once the valve was turned and the lever pulled, steam whistled through all of Val-Valvelgear's pipes. Nyandestar's ears readjusted, after which there was but a fading hiss.
"Yuhi! Did it work? Was the alien unloaded off the ship?"
No response.
"YUHI?"
"AHHHHHHHH!"
Their gambit didn't succeed. The alien was still on board. It outran the steam and made for the nearest exit, where it scurried out of the grate onto Yuhi.
"NOOOO! NOOOO! HELP! GET OFF ME! GET OFF MEEEE!"
Nyandestar hustled toward Yuhi's screams, but when she arrived back where she started, the struggle was already over.
The alien was incapacitated, one of its chitinous legs bitten, one of its scythes stomped on, and ten black claws driven through the dragon head into the creature's true body inside.
Chupataro had saved Yuhi.
Yudias and Manabu were mere seconds behind.
"J-jo jon vi du! Is that not a Ｘ・Ｅ・Ｎ・Ｏ alien?"
Manabu kneeled down over Yuhi. "Yuhi! Are you injured?"
"N-no. But Chupataro, he's…"
Chupataro tore his claws from the critter, but they and his teeth were coated in burning green fluid. He gagged, before falling on his back.
"CHUPATARO!"
"Ｘ・Ｅ・Ｎ・Ｏ blood is caustic! We must submerge Chupataro in water!" Yudias gathered Chupataro up. "Do not die, my eternal friend!"
There were profuse stores of water right outside for Yudias to dunk Chupataro in, due to the rain and the flooding.
Yuhi begged the universe. Begged it not to take his Chupa from him.
Chupataro was submerged for ten minutes. However, his exposure to the alien's caustic blood wasn't protracted, and his physiology, more resilient than your average human's. He was in decent enough shape, Yudias could transport him over shallows via wagon to the subway station to the Alien Residential Area.
"How are they doing? Nyandestar met Manabu on his way out of the medical tent.
"Keeping their distance for now to be safe, but the prognosis looks favourable. Chupataro should be back on his feet in no time, and Yuhi is in livelier spirits."
"That's encouraging to hear."
"And you, Nyandestar? How are you?"
"ME? I-I'm shaken up, but unhurt. You came in the nyick of time, Manabu-chan."
"We were concerned it was just you and Yuhi, so we came back. It was a good thing we did."
"Manabu." Asaka troubled him for a word. "Do you have an update for me?"
"Chupataro is out of danger and Yuhi has cooled off like ammonium nitrate mixed with water. MIK has captured the Ｘ・Ｅ・Ｎ・Ｏ alien and placed it in our sturdiest holding cell, where it is in chemically induced hibernative naptosis and will not imperil the ship. I recommend we deposit it and the holding cell on the next uninhabited planetoid we pass by."
"Agreed. Yudias' 8.88 million countrymen are getting environmental controls back online. We should be able to return to the surface within a few hours. At that time, I'd like you and your men to coordinate with Rovian and her people to do a head count of all the aliens in the Alien Residential Area and at MIK, while I do one of the residents up in Mutsuba Town. We wouldn't want anyone missing."
"No, we would not."
"Good work out there, you two."
Manabu and Nyandestar did good work, but it was too early to celebrate. Unbeknownst to Mutsuba Town, today's crisis was no random oopsie-daisy. It was the work of a saboteur. A woman tasked with keeping an eye on Yudias and his bunch, who got her kicks toying with others, and whose micro size belied the enormity of her nastiness.
She arranged the Ｘ・Ｅ・Ｎ・Ｏ alien.
She'd been trailing Val-Valvelgear on Zuwijo's spaceship, the Zaida Velgear, since before Zuwijo's disappearance.
"Ashishishi! Well played, but don't get comfy, 'kay? Dinois Velgear is coming right back at ya!"
