A Japanese Weresheep in Mutsuba Town

Pairing: Developing Yuhi x Chupataro.
Summary:
There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.
Chapter 78: Plan C
Ranran had pulled together everyone they could spare on such short notice: Dinois and Muda Velgear, Ryugu Tremolo and his cuties, Shewbahha, Chupataro, Zaion, Sogetsu Manabu and Sogetsu Maguto, and –
"All members of MIK's Mutsuba Branch are present!" Manabu clocked in. "We were able to cover more ground because of Maguto-niisan."
His adoptive brother's a fish, chupa!
"Good!"
"I'm only helping 'cause Zuwijo-sama asked me to! I wouldn't otherwise!" Dinois was her usual annoying self, annoying Tremolo and – if the wrinkles on his pretty boy face were anything to go by – her fellow soldier Muda as well.
"All right, so what are we looking for? I'll follow your lead this time. What do we search for?"
"These are not my instructions. They come from Ohdo Yuhi!" Ranran answered Tremolo.
That was enough to wake everybody up.
"That's Chupa's Yuhi for you! He's on top of things, cabra!"
"We're looking for a huge, Velgerian-style spaceship control room somewhere in the Underground Alien Residential Area! The person inside will be the only one that can stand up against Kuaidul! Our time of opportunity is short. We must find him ASAP! That man is the Creator of all Velgearians…also known as Otes!"
Manabu pinched his chin. "Otes…The man Yuamu and Yuhi talked about…The fated enemy of that guy. He's the Creator?"
Hiding under everyone's noses on his home planet since the beginning. A conniving providence.
"Someone from Earth was the one who created us?" Dinois railed. "Then he made us fight the war!"
"I know emotions are running high. But…I need you all to keep your heads about you. Our greatest opponent has infiltrated the Galaxy Cup and is plotting something horrible. And that's Kuaidul!"
"You heard the Director General!" Manabu motioned with his arm. "Plan C starts as of this moment!"
"The 'C' stands for Chupataro, chupa!"
"No it doesn't," Zaion overruled, not hiding the exasperation in his voice.
"It stands for Creator, obviously. Cre-a-tor!" Tremolo injected his trademark wit into the debate.
"C stands for C! It's Plan C! That's all! Now get moving!" Ranran reined them in.
The group splintered off into teams, poring over every inch of the Alien Residential Area, including Under-Underground Town.
Chupataro and Zaion were partnered together.
"You…Why are you helping, chupa?"
"Anything to stop listening to Sogetsu Manabu yell at the television and interrogate me in circles."
"The control room we're searching for, chupa…The one who's there…Is it Yuga, cabra?"
Zaion laughed morbidly.
"What, chupa?"
"Here I thought I was shouting into the depths of space."
"It isn't that Yuhi and Yuamu didn't get what you were saying, chupa. They –"
"Are in denial? Or do they subscribe to the silly notion that pure intentions are hereditary?"
"Pure intentions? From Yuamu, chupa?"
"Ohdo Yuga creates the man he becomes through the very act of travelling through time."
"How does that even work, chupa? You're saying Yuga and Otes are one and the same, cabra!"
"The future didn't change. This is his destiny. Replaying the same game. Duelling the same Duel. He created Rush Duels in this era, which will evolve and become more restrictive over time. And he'll create Rush Duels in the future as a counteragent to whatever Rush Duels become."
"Moving in circles, chupa?"
"Now you're getting it. Yuga has been taking the fight to Otes. In doing so, he's become more and more like his enemy. Embracing the same narrative. Willing to do whatever it takes, trapping himself in a loop where he ends up becoming Otes every single time."
"But Chupa's met Yuga, chupa! He doesn't seem like the kind of person to want to destroy Rush Duels!"
"Unless he's forced to watch his creation warped into something overly complicated. Unless he sees it taken out of the hands of the children they were meant to lift up. However, even then, I agree with you that Ohdo Yuga would not fall so far. Something else changes him and pushes him over the edge."
"Something else, chupa?"
"I believe an incident with a certain card in this era will change him."
"A certain card?"
"S'btian had record of it in his memory bank. A card that can tamper with one's memories."
"Tamper with a person's memories, chupa? There's such a card?"
"Ohdo Yuga is cut off from the people dearest to him: the friends in his time. Who's to say that, in his despair, he won't intentionally or accidentally use that card, turning him into Otes?"
"Do you have a whiteboard somewhere connecting all these dots, chupa?"
"On the other hand, if the future really doesn't change, perhaps Yuga himself bears the pain of having to erase Rush Duels in this era, using that card to erase all our memories to ensure his future comes to pass."
"Chupa…You think you know someone, and then you don't, chupa. But this is a lot of ifs, chupa."
"You have a different theory?"
"As a matter of fact, Chupataro does, chupa! Chupa's thought about it too, chupa! What if Otes isn't Yuga, but a product of Yuga, chupa?"
"Like a program? Or a pseudo-lifeform like the Velgearians?"
"Chupa was thinking more along the lines of Damamu, cabra."
"Damamu?"
"Zuwijo said there are other Earthlings who have Earthdamar, chupa. But up till now, we only know Yuhi had it. What if Yuga had it too, chupa? And what if Yuga's Earthdamar were to possess him and take on the identity of Otes, or create a body for itself in Yuga's image?"
"That's a lot of ifs."
"Chupa's just spitballing, chupa."
"Spitball later. We have to find the control room. We've veered off into a tangent."
"No, no! By all means! Chupa comes for the tangents, chupa!"
