Major Barnes goes over the evidence regarding Hekmetyar. Recording suggest he was not involved in this attack, that he even tried to stop it. But this man has always acted as if he were being watched, it was how he survived for so long. But for now Barnes has his orders, including leaving this embassy within the next 19 hours. But that might mean they have to leave Hekmetyar in charge, who just arranged for his political rival to be killed at the expense of american lives. Razi expected more help, Barnes decides to question some of the surviving taliban fighters who'd survived. Thus far they have all claimed to know nothing of Hekmetyar's involvement. The few who survived all needed medical attention, perhaps cutting off their morphine might make them more talkative.

At CTU they are getting ready to move Mike to prison, his father is not allowed to accompany him. Jack and Eric Carter observe this and talk.

Eric: He'll probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
Jack: Probably.
Eric: You staying for the duration of this crisis?
Jack: Yes. These punks want to target schools, my granddaughter could be hurt. So yeah, I have to protect her.
Eric: We could use all the help we can get right now.

Mike is moved out of CTU. Before he can be placed in the police van he is shot in the head and killed. Guards immediately scan for where the shot came from. It was from a sniper rifle in the distance, shot by Jones. Jones immediately flees, but Miguel stays put, waiting for the police to arrive.
