At the White House president Allen hugs and comforts her daughter. Both were relieved to have survived. Rebecca tells her mother what Aron Pierce told her just before he died.
.
Rebecca: He said he heard the main terrorist on the phone, talking to someone named Gaines.
Allen: Who is Gaines?
Rebecca: I don't know, but it must have been someone important to call him then.
Allen: Thank you.
.
The president is then told that vice president Keaton wants to speak with her, and congragulate her.
.
Keaton: Madam president, it's good to hear your voice again.
Allen: Thank you Warren.
Keaton: I'm sorry I wasn't able to order the siege earlier, but I feared for your safety.
Allen: If you had, perhaps my daughter would have been killed. I think we both made some mistakes in the last hour.
Keaton: Putin has already denounced the attack, we're still investigating whether he ordered it or not.
Allen: I'll speak with him soon. Tyler was on the phone with someone named Gaines, Aron Pierce told us this before he died.
.
At CTU George Mason has informed his staff about what Aron Pierce learned before he died. Jamey Farrell has uncovered who this "Gaines" might be.
.
Jamey: Ira Gaines, former Navy Seal, dishonarably discharged after allegations he was selling classified intel to defense contractors. Since then he's been associated with private military organizations, including the Wagner Group.
Mason: That's the Putin has fighting in Ukraine. This makes Ira Gaines the most likely suspect for Tyler's associate. Good work.

Jack Bauer continues to fly himself and Nina Myers back to D.C. So far this plane has held up. Jack is also trying to call Tony Almeida, so far no luck.
.
Nina: It's ironic, you asking Tony Almeida for help. Didn't you kill his wife?
Jack: I never meant for Michelle to die.
Nina: I'm sure you didn't want any of the people at the hotel to die. But you knew the risks. Yet somehow Tony seems to have forgiven you.
Jack: What's your point?
Nina: Logically, if Tony forgave you, you should be willing to forgive me for Teri. And if you aren't willing to forgive, if you feel you have the right to kill me for murdering Teri, then by that logic Tony has every moral right to kill you for murdering Michelle.
.
Jack knew Nina was only saying what she needed to in order to save her own life, but she did have a point. And as much as Jack wanted Tony's forgiveness, a part of him always feared that Tony would one day seek revenge.
