The White House is in turmoil. Rebecca Allen has informed Secret Service about her recent conversation with her brother, and her fear that he might have taken his own life. The president paces in the Oval Office, fearing the worst.
.
Eric Carter arrives at Kimberly Bauer's house and knocks on the door. Jamal answers, still a little tired.
.
Jamal: Can I help you?
Eric: My name is Eric Carter, deputy director of CTU. Is Audrey Raines here?
Jamal: Yes, she's sleeping, as I'd like to be.
Eric: You've heard of the attacks earlier. We would like your help in stopping future attacks.
Jamal: My help or my mother in law's help?
Eric: Both, and your wife's help as well. It might be easier to speak to all of you at once.
Jamal: Fine, but don't blame me if they're cranky this early.
.
Jack Bauer and Laura Walker meet up with Nina Myers and Tony Almeida. Jack has already warned Laura that Nina will likely try and manipulate her.
.
Nina: Thanks for your help ms Walker. I know it can't be easy to help bring down your own father.
Laura: He murdered my brother, I have no love for the man.
Nina: Jack can kind of relate to that.
Laura: Yeah he told me. Jack's father was a defense contractor who bribed government employees, Jack blew the whistle on all of them.
Jack: We just need to all lay low until John Walker responds to the message we sent him. Until then, I suggest you not engage Nina in conversation. No good can come from that.
.
Eric Carter is presenting Jamal, Kim, and Audrey with his offer of help.
.
Eric: CTU believes that the terrorists still have deadly weapons, but they might lack the manpower to deliver them all. They might be desperate enough to ask for help from other known radicals. Given Kim's history with radical enviromentalists, maybe she can help. And given Jamal's history with the Revolutionary Communist Party...
Jamal: I was never a communist. I made mistakes, and I was incarcerated for them. My cellmate was a communist, recommended I read his literature. I did so only out of boredom.
Eric: But you do have at least one connection. It's a long shot, but you also have friends who are also former radicals. If you or they could provide some assistance we would greatly appreciate it.
Audrey: Why not use agents and build a cover ID?
Eric: We're doing that too, but those ID's haven't been around for long. You and your friends' have longer ID's. There's something else, Jack Bauer is missing, he seems to have taken a woman hostage.
Kim: My father wouldn't do that. Maybe the woman was helping him.
Eric: I guess that's possible, but he didn't inform CTU of this. But then he has a history of going off the books. Most likely he will face charges later on. If his wife and daughter, plus assorted friends, helped with this, maybe the prosecutor could go easy on him. I can't promise anything, only that it couldn't hurt.
Kim: Okay, I'll help.
Jamal: Me too.
Audrey: I'll help, just let me use the bathroom first.
.
Audrey went to the bathroom and covertly called Jack. When Jack saw who the caller was he answered.
.
Jack: Audrey, is everything okay?
Audrey: CTU is asking for our help. Me, Kim, Jamal, they want our help in finding the remaining terrorists.
Jack: Is George Mason there?
Audrey: No, Eric Carter. But he wants to take us to CTU.
Jack: Mason might be wanting to use you as hostages against me.
Audrey: It seems unlikely he would do that at CTU. And Eric says you took a hostage.
Jack: Laura Walker and I put on a show to frighten her father into revealing himself. Yeah I can see why CTU might think it was legitimate. Be careful.
Audrey: You too Jack.
