Eric Carter leaves Jamal, Kim, and Audrey with other agents while he goes to speak with an old associate.

.

Melanie Daniels is brought into CTU. Director George Mason has her brought into an interrogation room and begins talking to her in private.

.

Mason: Melanie Daniels, I want to thank you for your help in apprehending Aslan. You might have actually helped save lives.

Melanie: Glad to help make up for past mistakes.

Mason: It was more than a mistake. A mistake is getting a tattoo or a DUI. You declared yourself an enemy of the United States, joined an organization whose platform includes this country's destruction. When you participated in Jack Bauer and Ishmael Ali's plot, a lot of innocent died. It is still entirely possible that the prosecutors will seek the death penalty. If you cooperate, they will go easier on you.

Melanie: I've told you everything I know.

Mason: I believe you. But you can still help in other ways.

Melanie: How?

Mason: We believe that the terrorists are short handed at the moment, they're putting out feelers to other possible allies. You can talk to them online, convince them you want to help blow up this country. I should point out you will be monitored at all times.

Melanie: Okay, I'll help.

.

John Walker calls his daughter's cellphone, assuming that her kidnapper will be answering. Tony and Nina remain silent, Laura is ready to talk if she has to.

.

Jack: Is this John Walker?

Walker: This is he. Is this my daughter's kidnapper?

Jack: Yes.

Walker: Let me speak with my daughter.

Laura: Daddy, daddy I'm scared. Please don't let him hurt me.

Walker: It's okay Laura. I'll protect you.

Jack: You know what I want.

Walker: You want me to confess, sure. What do you want me to confess too?

Jack: I want you to tell me what comes next.

Walker: I don't know. I assume that the attack on the White House was the endgame.

Jack: Where are the remaining terrorists, like reverend Adam?

Walker: The plan didn't require their deaths, I assume they scattered after it was over. Where they might have gone, they didn't tell me. I'll confess to whatever you say, just let my daughter go.

.

Jack knew Walker might actually be telling the truth about not knowing what comes next. But he had to make sure and interrogate him personally.

.

Jack: I'll let her go if you agree to meet with me personally.

Walker: Why?

Jack: I'm experienced with interrogations, if I can look you in the eye, I'll know if you're lying. After I question you face to face, I'll let Laura go.

Walker: Fine, where do we meet.

.

Rebecca Allen sat on her bed, unable to sleep. Then the phone call that she dreaded came, it was her mother.

.

Rebecca: Mom?

Allen: Yeah sweetheart. I thought you should know right away, it is Horace's body.

.

Even though Rebecca had tried to prepare herself for this news, it still hit her hard. Her twin brother was dead, she couldn't even speak, she just cried.

.

Eric Carter walks into the local strip club and goes to see the club's unnofficial owner. The owner, Isaac, lets Eric into his office and they speak alone. Isaac and Eric have a complicated relationship. Among other things, they are brothers.

.

Eric: Nice to see your doing well, a small business owner and all.

Isaac: I'm actually just an investor. Can't get a liquor liscence with my record.

Eric: So you're just an investor, but you have your own office in this club?

Isaac: The owner knows how to keep investors happy.

Eric: I was hoping you could help me with something.

Isaac: If it's for the man you can forget it. They locked me up for helping people stick a needle in their own arm, never forced anyone to do but from me. And you didn't lift a damn finger to help me.

Eric: I warned you that they were cracking down on heroin dealers.

Isaac: You didn't tell me anything I couldn't have learned watching C-SPAN.

Eric: And you still chose to take the risks. I was hoping you would remember when mom was dying in the hospital, normally they only grant furloughs for funerals. Who made sure you got a furlough to say goodbye? I'm about to risk my life to stop a future terrorist attack, at the end of the day we are brothers. And if that's not enough, I'm not sure you want my friends to look too closely at who really owns this club.

Isaac: First of all this is a completely legitimate club. That said, I do owe you for letting me say goodbye to mom, and she'd want me to help save your ass. What do you want from me.

.

Split screens show Eric and Isaac talking about details, Kim and Jamal putting out feelers over the internet, George Mason supervising Melanie, Jack and his group leave for the meeting with John Walker, president Allen crying over her son's body, Rebecca Allen crying in her bedroom.

.

Rebecca Allen thought about her last conversation with her brother. She remembered the name, Carl Webb. Rebecca was a little familiar with the name, he was a political operative, dug up dirt on the enemies of whoever paid him. Whoever he worked for now, they murdered Karen and planted evidence on Horace. Rebecca used to love playing chess with Horace, he used that metaphor before he died. Horace said that Carl and his employers were the kings, everyone else was just a pawn. Last Rebecca checked, a pawn can kill a king. No matter what it cost her Rebecca would avenge her brother's death.
