Blue Raven Ridge
Day
Alarms were blaring as Fitz ran after the people who were claiming to be his parents. He was still trying to process that, but he had other things to worry about at the moment. Mainly, not getting caught as they escaped this military prison.
"Tell me you have an escape plan!" Fitz shouted to The Doctor pleadingly.
"Oh do we! Round the corner and we'll get out of here!" The Doctor shouted back at him.
Fitz wasn't sure what he was expecting when they rounded the corner, but a blue police box wasn't it. He stopped, staring in disbelief, wondering if these people were mad When The Doctor snapped his fingers. To Fitz's disbelief, the doors opened.
"In we go, son! No time to waste," The Doctor said, grabbing Fitz's hand and forcibly leading him inside.
The trio ran inside, River closing the door as Fitz looked around in disbelief. The inside was….Fitz wasn't sure what to call it. It looked like some command center from SHIELD, Fitz's rational mind pointed out.
"It's…" Fitz trailed off in disbelief.
"Bigger on the inside, I know," The Doctor said as he rushed towards the console.
"Impossible," Fitz finished.
"Impossible is every other Wednesday, honey," River said in a surprisingly motherly tone as she patted his shoulder.
"We'll explain everything in a moment. First, let's get out of here," The Doctor said, not looking up.
Outside the TARDIS, military guard had spotted it. They were about to head towards it when, to their disbelief, the TARDIS had vanished, leaving them all wondering if they were going mad.
TARDIS
Not long after
"Well, now that that's taken care of," The Doctor said with a smile as Fitz looked around.
"What just happened?" Fitz asked confused.
"I think you need to show him, sweetie," River told The Doctor, who nodded.
"Come here, son," The Doctor said, gesturing for Fitz to follow him as he headed towards the door. "This is going to be a lot to take in, I know. So take a deep breathe."
Fitz looked confused as he followed the man who claimed to be his father towards the door. The Doctor smiled at him looking excited before opening the doors. Fitz stared in complete disbelief at the endless void of space that greeted him.
"What the bloody Hell?" Fitz asked as The Doctor smiled.
"It's complicated, son. I'm a Time Lord; I come from a planet called Gallifrey," The Doctor explained as he closed the doors. "This ship is called the TARDIS, I stole it a while ago and it allows me go anywhere in time or space."
"This is…this is mad," Fitz finally said. "I've gone mad, my brain injury is acting up and I'm hallucinating."
"I can assure you Leopold, you're not going mad. This is as real as Inhumans, LMDs and aliens," River assured him.
"It's a lot to take in, I'm aware. River will show to the bathroom, you can take a shower and there's a wardrobe where you can change out of that uniform," The Doctor said, seeming to realize how overwhelmed Fitz was. "Then, we can talk and I will answer all your questions."
Fitz stared at for a long moment before nodding. Hopefully, sometime away from the pair of them would help him gather his wits. So he allowed River to lead him towards the wardrobe, hoping he could make sense of all this.
Blue Raven Ridge
Later that day
"So this box, it just…vanished?" Hale demanded calmly as she listened to the guards who had seen the TARDIS take off.
"It was strange General. One minute it was there, and then it was gone. It made this strange sound as well, like a 'Vroop'," the soldier said, trying to mimic the sound.
Hale was silent for a moment as she processed this, trying to piece it all together before turning to Evans and Lucas.
"Anything on this John Smith?"
"Nothing substantial. There was a Dr. John Smith who acted as Scientific Advisor to UNIT, but that was back in the 70's. When I asked for information on him, I was told that all files on this Dr. Smith were classified," Lucas told her, annoyance clear in his voice.
"UNIT did say that they didn't send anyone here, so whoever that man was, he wasn't with UNIT," Evans added.
"Then our first priority is to catch this man. We find him, we find Fitz. I want a composite sketch made as quickly as possible," Hale ordered.
TARDIS
Not long after
In what seemed to be the kitchen, Fitz sat down with River and The Doctor, an assortment of food on the table. The shower had helped Fitz relax and process this news a bit. It was quiet until Fitz spoke.
"So your name is…River?" Fitz asked as he looked towards the woman claiming to be his mother and River nodded.
"Professor River Song, Archeology," River introduced herself.
"Are you a …Time Lady?" Fitz asked, still having trouble believing it himself.
"No. I'm mostly human…with a little Time Lord. It's complicated," River said, wanting to drop the subject.
She was shameless in most things, but she really did not want to discuss the details of her conception with her son.
"We know you have questions, Leopold. And we will do your best to answer them," The Doctor promised and Fitz was silent for a moment, trying to figure out what to ask first before coming to the most obvious question.
"If I'm your son…how did I end up in Scotland?" Fitz inquired.
"It's a long story but I will try to make it simple," The Doctor said, wondering where to start. "Your mother and I have a shall we say, unusual marriage."
"We spend months apart at a time, on our own adventures," River said with a slight smile. "Me in my archeology, and your father in this ship, going to wherever he needed to go in order to help people."
"We make time for each other whenever we can," The Doctor added, reaching across the table and taking River's hand.
Seeing the way The Doctor and River looked at each other, Fitz idly wondered if that was how he and Jemma looked at each other. Before he could muse on this too much, The Doctor continued.
"Then we learned River was pregnant. We weren't even sure it was possible, but here you are. You were our miracle Leopold," The Doctor said with a slight.
If he was a miracle, why give him away? But his parents seemed to see the question on his face, River reaching across the table and taking his hand in hers.
"Honey, we wanted to keep you with us more than anything. But our lives were no way to raise a child," River said softly.
"You deserved…better. Something more stable than we could give you. We chose Scotland because it was something your grandmother would have approved of," The Doctor said, smiling slightly at the thought of what Amy would have said about that. "Your mother – that is, the woman we chose to raise you – was a relative of an old friend of mine, Jo Grant. Jo vouched for her and anyone that has Jo's seal of approval is someone I would trust to raise my son."
"She did, unfortunately, have one flaw: she had horrible taste in men," River noted and Fitz grimaced, not needing any clarification of what she was talking about.
"My father. Or the man I thought was my father," Fitz muttered.
"Allister Fitz. He was very charming at first, by all accounts. Then, once they were married, he was very un-charming. When she saw how you were being abused, Linda knew she couldn't let it keep going. So she contacted us," River explained.
"You're why he left," Fitz realized.
"It wasn't too hard to bribe him with what a amounted to 2,000 dollars in American money. But for good measure, I allowed River to threaten him," The Doctor shrugged as River smirked.
"Such pathetic men are easy to threaten," River said simply with a smug tone.
Fitz was silent for a moment, realizing that they'd saved him from Allister Fitz. From being turned into the awful person he was in the Framework. Fitz took a few moments to let this new information wash over him before speaking.
"Thank you. You have no idea what you did for me," Fitz said, not having the words to express such gratitude.
"I would not allow any harm to come to my son, if I could prevent it," The Doctor told him and there was a long pause.
"I'm sure you have more questions," River noted and Fitz nodded.
"Yeah, where was I? And how did you find me?" Fitz asked curiously.
"You were being held at Blue Raven Ridge Facility, a Black Site prison used by the American Government to hold prisoners the government deems too valuable or dangerous to be kept in public prisons. As to how we found you, that's a long story," River explained.
"I have a friend, Jack Harkness. He's been keeping an eye on you for most of your life, especially once you were recruited by SHIED. I told him once if there was ever an emergency that you needed my help, he was to contact me immediately," The Doctor explained and Fitz nodded.
"And this mess certainly qualifies it," Fitz said with a dark chuckle.
"Indeed it does son," The Doctor agreed, sharing his dark humor for a moment before continuing his story. "Jack has apparently made an ally of your friend, Lance Hunter, who told him about your coded messages. Which was clever, by the way."
"Hunter keeps up to date on his favorite sports teams, knew it was only a matter of time until he caught on," Fitz said with a fond grin. "So, Hunter told Jack about my messages and he told you, which led you to Blue Raven Ridge?"
"That covers it," River said with a nod.
"Thank you, for rescuing me, truly. But I can't stay here, I need to find my friends," Fitz started only for his parents to laugh, to his confusion.
"He hasn't caught on yet, has he?" River asked The Doctor with a grin at her husband.
"He's new to us, give him time," The Doctor said before turning to the bewildered Fitz. "What do you think Jack has been doing while we've been looking for you? He's been looking into what happened to your friends at that dinner. And he's found something."
"You know where my friends are?" Fitz asked, starting only to be disappointed when The Doctor and River shook their head.
"No, not yet. But Jack believes he knows who took them. We're going to meet up with him and discuss our next move. It's time to figure out who took your friends and why," The Doctor said firmly.
Fitz let out the breath he had bene holding for six months, happy that he finally had a lead.
Soon, Jemma. Soon.
Hope the explanations about how Fitz ended up in Scotland made sense.
The Doctor would absolutely have Jack check in on his son, especially once Fitz was recruited by SHIELD.
And now the plot will star t to get going a bit.
