Hey hey everyone. VerdeSaiyan here. I can understand how many people are likely wondering where this fanfic(or all my fanfics in general) went. I've been away for a bit, focusing on other projects, as well as life events. I got a new job with set hours, and I didn't want to do any more work on this story until I got a PC to type on, because working from my phone had gotten far too annoying. I finally got one in July, so here's a short chapter that jumps back a bit to cover the first round of the Peach Creek Pokemon contest that I haven't covered yet. So It takes place at the same time or before the previous few chapters. I understand if you've all lost interest in my lack of updates, and I'm sorry. Two years without an update is a totally unacceptable posting schedule. I'm gonna do my best because I wanted to get this done before Gen 9, but that wasn't happening. Perhaps before Gen 11, but I don't know. I'm
So hopefully this chapter will be enjoyable, even if it's short. If I made any mistakes, be sure to let me know. Nazz watched as the first battle round of the Pokemon Contest got underway. The first match was Sarah vs. Gregor. Her Snubbull glared at the ominous Mr. Mime, though everyone could see clearly that this one was different, having a mostly blue and white color scheme, and rather than pantomime, this one was skilled in tap dancing, prancing around Dixie, and riling up the pink upright bulldog.
"Dixie, use Bite!"
"Bull-bull!" The Fairy Pokemon charged in, biting Mr. Mime on the foot. The tap dancing humanoid hopped back before swinging her around on his foot, until she rolled off.
"Mr. Mime, be a good chap, and use Ice Shard!" As the command was given, the strange clown-like Pokemon waved his hand and fired off a large number of frozen ice chunks at the diminutive bulldog. Dixie winced and backed away as she was grazed by the attack.
"We ain't going to shrink away from that! Dixie, use Charm!"
"Snubb!" The Snubbull winked, causing the Ice-Type to pause and grimace a bit.
"Humph. Mr. Mime, use Double Slap!"
"Mime-Mime-Mime-Mime!" Mr. Mime pranced up, and delivered a few good slaps to Dixie. The canine managed to stick it out, holding her own, and ready to deliver a counterattack.
Sarah looked at the screen to see her Snubbull's points drain away. She was lagging, and it could be over in a manner of moments. "Grr…Dixie, give it everything you got and use Play Rough!"
"Snubbbbbullbullbullbull!" Dixie growled at her foe, charging and pawing at him powerfully, romping around to knock him back.
"Well fought, but now it's time to end this. Mr. Mime, use Teeter Dance!"
"Mime! Mimime!" The humanoid Pokemon did a semi staggering and almost hypnotizing dance. Dixie seemed to mimic his movements, before becoming confused.
"Dixie no, use Tackle!" Sarah cried out. Her Snubbull tried to lunge at Mr. Mime, only to take a face dive and hurt herself. The ginger haired girl bit her fingernails as Dixie's points took another hit on the scoreboard.
"Now, Mr. Mime, finish this with Ice Shard!" Gregor called.
His Pokemon waved his hands again, producing a large crystalline heart shaped panel of ice, which he broke apart with psychic energy, and sent flying at Dixie, knocking her back.
"Bull..." Dixie moaned as she fainted and her contest points bottomed out.
Zoey took to the stage again between them as Sarah went over to inspect her pet Snubbull. "How about that, folks? Give our skilled contestants a round of applause!" The audience clapped fervently as Sarah fumed, and healed Dixie with a Super Potion. "Gregor will be going to the Semi-finals, while Sarah will receive a small gift package."
Sarah was almost ready to explode, demanding a rematch, until she stimied her rage. At least shew was getting something out of it. "Come on, Dixie. Let's go watch the show."
As Gregor and Sarah left the stage, an aid came to the dressing room, gesturing for Nazz to step out.
"Miss Nazz, it's yours and young Jimmy's turn to battle."
Flustered, the blond had hoped she was battling in the last round. She shook off her doubts and decided to focus her energy into enjoying the upcoming bout. "'K dude, lead the way."
Moments later, Nazz, and Jimmy met each other on opposite sides of the contest stage, the crowd letting out an awed cadence.
"Good luck, Jimmy!" Sarah shouted aloud from the waiting room, obviously not expecting him to hear her.
"Ladies first!" Jimmy readied his Poke Ball.
"Thanks! I'm glad we're getting the chance to do this!" Nazz countered. "Go, Kenzie!" She threw her Poke Ball, and it popped open, unleashing a tide of multicolored ribbons, which her Kirlia partner danced among as she appeared in white light.
"Kir-kir-li!" She called, striking an elegant pose, curtsying.
"Mr. Bunby! You're on!" Jimmy threw his Poke Ball, it not flying very far before falling to the floor and popping open, in a shower of lightning, a small figure manifesting as a hot blue bolt, before being erupting in flames. The fire cleared, revealing his Bunnelby, which he caught and cuddled in his arms.
"Bunn, bunnel!" Mr. Bunby jumped down and readied himself to fight Kenzie, the Normal-Type and the Psychic-Fairy-Type walking to about ten feet away from each other. The two Pokemon's images as well as their owner's adorned the screens, point gauges lighting up.
"The two contestants are an adorable Bunnelby, affectionately named Mr. Bunby, and a cute Kirlia named Kenzie! Who will win, and become one step closer to the prize ribbon? Without further ado, may the battle begin!" Zoey waved her arm down.
Jimmy was quick to act. "Mr. Bunby! Use Swords Dance!" The grey and brown furred rabbit bowed before performing a high-energy dance, crossing his paws, and making biting motions here and there, glowing with an intense red aura.
"That can't be good!" Nazz noted. "Kenzie, use Double Team!"
"Kir! Kiiiiirrr!" Her Kirlia chanted a bit, before her body glowed, and seemed to divide into several evenly tall dopplegangers, which all curtsied, and winked to the audience,
Both contestants' point bars drained, but a negligible amount, with Jimmy's taking the heavier hit. The cow-lick haired boy frowned. "Cheap trick, blondie." He waved his arm. "Mr. Bunby, use Super Fang!"
"Bunn!" The Normal-Type charged in, incisors glowing red, before gnawing on the Psychic-Fairy-Type's arm, and by stroke of luck, got her real body.
"Oh wow, both a direct hit, and a blunder on contestant Jimmy's part, people!" Zoey commented to the crowd. "For those that don't know, Swords Dance is a move that gives a big boost to a Pokemon's physical attacking ability, but Super Fang is an attack move that knocks off half of the target's remaining health."
The Nurse Joy on the judge panel pressed down two levers, and with that, both Mr. Bunby, and Kenzie's point scores took a dive, but Kenzie clearly took the harder hit, her remaining points being reduced to less than half their original total.
Nazz bit her lip. "Well then, time for something totally inspired! Kenzie, use Magical Leaf!"
Kenzie concentrated her more mystical energies, before her eyes and horns glowed, as well as those of her body doubles. They all did pirouettes as dark purple leaves manifested around each of them, which launched out in a spiralling fashion, phasing through each other. Of course, the clone's Magical Leaves faded away into oblivion, because they were just illusions, but Kenzie's hit their mark, knocking Mr. Bunby down.
Jimmy stood there with his jaw dropping, before he clapped, applauding her. "What a beautiful display!" He said, despite his points dropping. The crowd joined him in his praise, making the blond girl blush.
"Th-thanks, dude."
"What a charming display of sportsmanship!" One of the male judges broke out in tears.
"Simply remarkable!" The other male added.
"Well then, let's keep the show on the road!" Jimmy added. "Mr. Bunby, use Attract!"
"Bunnn-!~" The Bunnelby winked at his foe with a husky voice, sending a barrage of hearts her way.
"(Oh, I'm not falling for that again!)" Kenzie frowned, moving in tandem with her body doubles, managing to avoid the amorous onslaught.
"Okay, Kenzie, use Disarming Voice!" Nazz shouted.
"Kirlee-lee-li-yaaa!" The Kirlia and her clones broke out in song at the top of their lungs, their own voices generating a pink miasma, which made the Bunnelby cover his ears in pain and shrink back.
"It's time for a little mischief then…" Jimmy smiled. "Mr. Bunby, use Dig!"
"Dig?" Nazz blinked, before the rabbit dove into the floor, burrowing underneath the stage in an instant.
"Contestant Jimmy's Pokemon has dug out of sight, and is preparing to attack! But where will he emerge from?" Zoey comnmented.
Kenzie used her Psionic abilities to read the rabbit Pokemon's movements, and leapt out of the way as Mr. Bunby emerged, shooting into the air from the ground.
"Now, Kenzie, use Psychic!" Nazz called. The Kirlia's eyes and horns glowed, manifesting mystic-looking energy distortions as she unleashed a crippling force on the Bunnelby, sending him tumbling to the ground. His eyes swirled, signaling he had been defeated.
"Mr. Bunby is unable to battle!" Zoey began. "With that, Contestant Nazz, and her Kirlia, Kenzie win!"
The crowd cheered, in awe of such an elegant, yet frighteningly powerful creature. Nazz smiled gleefully as she and Kenzie both curtsied to the crowd, and pranced over to each other.
"Great job, Kenzie!" Nazz patted the Psychic-Pokemon on the head.
"Kir-kir!"
Jimmy held his Bunnelby in his arms. "Mr. Bunby…You did your best." He hugged his defeated Pokemon, as his consciousness returned.
"Good match, dude!" Nazz extended her arm, which Jimmy smiled, and returned.
"Thank you, Nazz. Hope you go far and win this shindig!"
The audience cheered, as the two trainers left the stage, Zoey read from the bracket. "We thank Nazz, and Jimmy for their stunning display! Now, for round 3 of the first round. It's Leona versus Jonny!"
Leona met Nazz at the end of the stage's catwalk, the older trainer continuing to exude confidence to the fledgling coordinator. "I loved your match." She began, before rubbing Kenzie on the head, a gesture the Kirlia did not appreciate, shooting her a glare. "You and your Kirlia make a great team."
"Thanks, Leona, I hope you win your match too!"
"Oh trust me. I will." She strutted out to face Jonny, who remained in his Gourd costume.
"Are you ready to suffer my dark judgement?" Jonny asked, in supervillain character.
"I'm ready to have a wonderful match, if that's what you mean. Let's give it our all!" Leona threw her Ball Capsule'd Poke Ball into the air. "Bellossom! Curtain rise!" The Ball burst open in a rush of multicolored musical notes on staves, as a small green bodied figure wearing an organic skirt of yellow and green leaves manifested. A pair of flowers bloomed at the sides of her head.
"Bella-bellossom!" She squeaked happily.
"Humph. Leeanne! Come forward!" Jonny threw his own Ball, which popped open into a rush of neon lightning, his rescued Steenee coming into view, wearing a purple masquerade mask.
"Stee-stee-steenee!" She exclaimed in a boastful voice.
"This looks like it'll be a graceful showdown between beautiful Grass-Types!" Zoey smiled. "Without further ado, begin!"
Jonny tapped his cane, which held Plank on the end. "Leeanne! Use Double Slap!"
"(Have at you!)" The Steenee charged in, preparing to deliver a punishing hail of open palmed slaps, but Leona was ready.
"Bellossom, Reflect, won't you?"
"Bell!" The flowering Pokemon shielded her face, and generated a large blue barrier, which seemed to infuse itself with her form, almost as if serving as armor. Leeanne's palms whacked against her foe, but to little avail.
Jonny grimaced. "Such petty tricks won't save you from my wrath!"
"Then how about this? Hyper Beam!" Leona shouted.
Bellossom stuck her digitless hands out, charging a golden yellow orb of light. Leeanne stammered and hopped back before her enemy shot out the immensely powerful beam of light.
Jonny smirked. "Leeanne, use Splash!"
Leeanne grinned herself, and backflipped, and bounced on her fruit-like lower body half to escape, the beam collapsing in on itself and exploding harmlessly near the ceiling.
"Well that's not good." Leona raised her eyes.
"Rapid Spin!" Jonny commanded.
"Steen! Nee! Stee-nee-nee-nee!" Leeanne flipped around, spinning around on her hands and whacking Bellossom with her legs, knocking her around.
"Bell! The Flower Pokemon fell down, but managed to spring back up.
"Good job, Bellossom, now, use Sludge Bomb!" Leona ordered.
"Bell-bella!" Bellossom generated a mass of filthy purple ooze between her hands, and fired it out at the Steenee like a bullet.
"(Uh oh!)" Leeanne grimaced as the sludge hit its mark, sending her tumbling backwards, and rolling thanks to her fruitlike body.
'Not good…)' Jonny thought to himself. 'I hadn't accounted for an enemy to know an attack that wasn't the user's types…If I remember, the Pokedex that professor guy gave me said that that Pokemon is a branch evolution of a Grass and Poison-Type that abandons it's proper Poison typing. Ohh, if only I'd brought Plank with me. He always knows what to do."
Leeanne rose to her feet, a bit uneasy. Her point score on the stage's adjacent screen had shrunken far lower than the enemy Bellossom's. But she wasn't about to let herself go down.
'Well if you aren't ready to give up, then neither am I!' Jonny proclaimed in his mind.
'I knew you weren't Jonny!' An elegant, youthful voice filled his mind, as his Steenee's eyes locked with his.
Jonny took a step back, nearly dropping his cane in shock. Could it be? Did he…hear his Pokemon's voice? In his mind?
'L…Leeanne?' He thought again, as if reaching out. "Was that…you?'
'Indeed. It was me, good sir.' The Fruit Pokemon's voice exuded grace, like a princess of yore.
'B…but how?'
'I don't know myself, but perhaps you have some sort of innate ability to communicate with your mind? I don't quite understand how we can speak in our minds myself…But I do know we have a show to win.'
'You're right…We can worry about this later.' Jonny mused to himself. First, much earlier, he had somehow manifested the peculiar ability to predict someone's move, when they were directly attacking him, now he somehow had gained the ability of telepathy? Things were certainly strange indeed, since the mysterious Pokemon had entered his and the Eds world.
"Leeanne, use Energy Ball!" The Steenee placed her hands together, generating a small mass of green glowing energy, and fired it out, hitting the Bellossom head on. The Flower Pokemon was knocked back, but still ready to rumble, but the blue film covering her from the Reflect move dissipated, much to her dismay.
"Follow up strong, Bellossom!" Leone said. "Use Petal Blizzard and whip up a dazzling display!"
"(Coming right up!)" Bellossom waved her hands and began to dance, whipping up a large storm of pink colored petals. Leanna braced herself, covering her hands with her face, but managed to Splash around, and evade the bulk of them. Both Pokemon's points were draining away slowly, but crested below the halfway point. Jonny knew he had to bring this to a close.
"Leanne, channel your fury! Double Slap!"
"(Take this!)" The Fruit Pokemon lunged in, unleashing ten wicked slaps to her foe, the Bellossom staggering around a bit weaker than before.
"Bellossom, end this now! Sludge Bomb, let's go!"
"(Here's the final blow!)" Bellossom charged another mass of the filthly refuse in front of her. Leanne stood at the ready, but unlike before, her enemy fired them more like bullets than bombs. Up and around she Splashed, twirling across the stage in an elegant fashion.
She heard the call to use Energy Ball again, and put her hands together, channeling her energy, but was struck down by a Sludge Bomb!
"Leanne!" Jonny cried out, dropping character for a minute as she hit the floor, covered in the thick purple ooze, the floor peppered with gobbets of slime amidst the beautiful flower petals.
"St…ee…" Leanne moaned as she faded out of consciousness. Her points faded away into nothing, as Zoey waved her hand to Leone.
"Steenee is unable to battle, and thus, Bellossom is the winner!"
Jonny knelt next to his Steenee, and raised her head up, swaddling her in his cape. "It's alright, Leanne. You did your best, so please, take a well deserved rest." He returned her to her Poke Ball so she could recuperate. Leone and Bellossom stood together, waving to the crowd in triumph, before she walked over to Jonny. "Well fought, Jonny. I can tell you, I wasn't expecting to fight another Grass-Type. But I was prepared. Better luck next time." She held her hand out.
Jonny smiled, and removed his Gourd mask, shaking her hand. "Good luck to you. I can tell you're gonna do great in the finals."
With a bow to the crowd, the two trainers departed from the stage, waiting for the last two trainers to take to the stage.
In the stands, near the back, two figures watched the proceedings.
'Master…Is it him?'
'Yes…the owner of the strong and kind aura. He's the one we've been looking for…'
The two figures in question were a dark skinned young man, and a familiar upright canine, eyeing Jonny with interest as the two coordinators on stage began their presentation, a strange pink Pokemon with a large silvery hammer, and a large crimson bird duking it out.
Hey hey everyone, Verdesaiyan here. I'm sorry for not updating this fic in so long…
