I've just finished watching Ted Lasso and I honestly don't know what to do with myself! It's honestly one of the best shows I've ever watched! I wanted to write something really soft, festive and fluffy for Ted and Rebecca. Enjoy!
It was Christmas Eve, light dustings of snow scattered all around the neighbourhood, christmas decorations twinkling in the moonlight. All was well in the Lasso household, where Ted found himself finishing up an hour long conversation with his son Henry.
"Alright Hen, I'll Facetime you tomorrow, okay? Then you can tell me everything that Santa got you for Christmas!" Ted spoke fondly, wishing so much that Henry could be spending Christmas with them in London.
"Dad. Santa isn't real." The young boy deadpanned, causing Ted to gasp, joking of course.
"What do you mean? Santa is real!" Ted joked around, acting shocked at his son's words.
"Dad!" Henry spoke through giggles.
"Okay, okay!" Ted's laughing subsided. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, Hen. Love you."
"Love you too, Dad. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, bud."
Once the face of his son disappeared from the phone screen, Ted let out a sigh he didn't realise he was holding in. He missed Henry terribly, but he knew that he'd be seeing him very soon for New Years celebrations.
A quick glance at the clock on the wall made his brows furrow slightly. Rebecca had been upstairs for quite some time now and he was starting to get a little worried. Depositing his phone on the arm of the sofa, he stood up slowly, creeping up the stairs to the smaller room just down from their bedroom. The sight that came into view as he approached the opened door made his heart swell. Rebecca was sat in the rocking chair in the corner of the room, having fallen asleep. Even in her slumber, she still held a protective embrace, cradling a tiny baby in her arms. Blonde hair slightly askew, mouth hanging open, she still looked absolutely beautiful to him.
Trying not to disturb both of his girls, he scooped the tiny baby into his arms and swiftly turned to the direction of the crib. Ted pressed a feather like kiss to her head, breathing in her scent. After placing her down into her crib, Ted straightened himself upright, leaning both hands on the edge of the wooden frame.
Moments passed by, Ted in his own little world peering down at his little girl, when he felt a familiar hand being placed on the small of his back.
"Hey, sleeping beauty." Ted's American drawl pulled a small chuckle from Rebecca's lips.
"Hi, love. Thanks for grabbing her from me. One minute I was awake and the next...well I wasn't." Rebecca noted Ted's mouth pulling up in a small smile at her words.
The two of them stood there for what seemed like hours, just admiring their little girl. "It's still hard to believe that she's real." Rebecca murmured quietly, placing her other hand on top of his that was resting on the top of the crib.
"I know." Ted smiled warmly, craning his head round to look at his wife.
"Henry doing okay?" Rebecca asked, leaning forward to plant a gentle kiss to Ted's cheek.
"Yeah. He says he misses us and can't wait to meet his baby sister when he comes to visit for New Years." Ted replied, standing up properly from the crib before wrapping his arms around the back of Rebecca's waist, marvelling in the happiness he was feeling.
"We're so lucky to have them both, aren't we?" Rebecca questioned, tilting her head a little.
"That we are, Becca."
After sharing a tender kiss, the couple stood in each other's embrace.
"Merry Christmas, darling."
"Merry Christmas, Becca."
Eeek I just love them so much! I know that in the show Rebecca couldn't have children, but I wanted to word this in a way that could be interpreted both ways - that she either conceived and had recently given birth or that they adopted their baby girl.
I hope you all have a wonderful festive season! Who knows...I may write more for Ted Lasso, but if not, I at least enjoyed writing this!
