It's been a real doozy getting everything functional since the world fell to shit, I had done work as a bounty hunter for several camps across approximately a thousand miles to help stuff along. To study the fungus, Sarah wanted to use just about anything from me to make a cure when she realized I had previously been a fungal zombie. Unlike the Fireflies, who omitted that they were going to kill a teen by harvesting her brain. Sarah had the decency to ask me for stuff, if it wasn't too invasive I'd be glad to help.
But when she rather fearfully asked to dissect my brain, I said no. She respected that when we TALKED about what that'd entail, as it's my brain she wanted to mess with. Speaking of teens going to die, it's been about six years since the outbreak. I didn't do much besides just survive and help create essentially one very tight net of a multi-camp alliance to keep this area contained and normal. All who start shit are immediately put in the ground. The Day's Gone cast though are a wonderful bunch after all major threats to them have been silenced. Tucker, though, her camp literally became a prison, we all saw that coming.
Copeland actually had a kid six years ago, he's more reasonable than his father with his conspiracy theories. Iron Mike⦠he didn't make it in this timeline, but not because he got shot, but because he got decapitated. It happened during the fight with the Colonel, Skizzo ambushed him and got a lucky shot in the neck with an axe. When Mike went down, Skizzo finished him off before an enraged Rikki Molotoved him in the face with napalm.
Speaking of Rikki, she and Addy have a daughter, made possible by a sperm donor who helped them. Kids a terror doctor in the making though because she likes doing surgery on animals at five years old. Sarah and Deacon had twins, they're three and already cursing like bikers. Boozer and his pup help Manny run a Bike shop/Orphanage, with survivors stopping in to occasionally volunteer to teach them about things. Weaver is their favorite though, as he doesn't bore them, he makes a fun science teacher honestly.
Speaking of Weaver, he is actually the co-leader of Iron Beut now, with Rikki being his co-leader. Kuri he's headed off to lands beyond to find a new purpose and well I tagged along with him. Why? Well, Joel found a NERO radio and contacted me and Deacon. He and his partner Tess have a job from the fire flies about escorting someone. Deacon couldn't leave because he's got twins to watch over, so that left me.
My VTOL carried us to where Kuri wanted to start his new journey. However, we had someone waiting for us, O'Brian, an ex-NERO doctor turned combat medic hunter. He was infected by the fungal plague, yet he literally FOUGHT the fungus to stay Human. It's extremely rare, but some people can delay their zombification by sheer will to live. O'Brian has been fighting it off for six years now, and slowly, but surely, he's beginning to look more like the infected.
However, he's faster, stronger as he punched a dent into a steel door in a sealed military lab. Funny story last bit, the military learned about me and tried forcing me back into "service," they didn't like my response. So, I got shot in the legs and taken in, my fungus pushed the bullets out during the ride but by that point I was cuffed. Met O'Brian in their labs as they tortured him to find out how he's still functioning. We got out during one soldier's dumb mistake to get nicked by my teeth and saliva.
He turned pretty damn INSTANTLY because I apparently have a high concentration of the fungus in my saliva. My only guess is that my body felt vindictive and created a defensive ability by adapting subtly over time in captivity. So, unlike Ellie, I can spread the infection by biting people at will. As during one of Sarah's tests, I apparently now have "infection sacks" like a snake's venom glands.
That was so fucking WEIRD to learn and look at through X-Rays. As there's just two compressed, but highly potent sacks of fungus infection, inside my mouth somewhere hard to reach. They were useful though in creating a cover to escape the military while setting everything on fire with white phosphorus and napalm. O'Brian after we escaped, I helped him become a rather proficient and lethal hunter while building on his medical training. A pro of this was he manages to stay sane whenever he has a zombie episode.
The con is that he'll definitely become a variation of the infected. He knows this, and it is why, with a heavy heart, Sarah was asked to put a Deadman switch inside him. Heart stops, he explodes. As Kuri got off with his motorcycle, I greeted O'Brain as he made it surprisingly far, all the way to Boston, Massachusetts. Kuri after getting his bike situated, I and O'Brain saw him off as the ex-militia member drove off to find his lost family. After exchanging some information with him and seeing that he was actually IMMUNE now and not turning anymore. I blinked before cackling as that means NERO WILL FUCKING HAVE MUTANT HUMAN HYBRIDS!
