He dressed, watching her sleep. His brother's last words playing in his mind.
She was his mate?
He realized, of course, that his brother was right.
He wanted her, to touch her, to kiss her, to fill her. Yet he had hurt her because he was a demon, and she didnt understand him because she was a human.
He walked over and ran his hand over her belly.
Possessiveness, need, satisfaction. She could sustain him, rile him, fight him, win.
What a fucking long road he took, and it wasn't over.
He would kill the cats, come back for their babies' birth, and he would claim them both as he should have done months ago. He had not been using her; he had been needing her.
Fuck.
"Wait for me, my son,"
He lifted his and turned. "I will return soon, mate,"
Then he left.
Kagome woke some time later, hurting. She had to use his father's power, but it was fading fast and his mother could no longer sustain her.
Kagome needed him, but he was gone. He would always come and go, wouldn't he?
She thought that was worse than just leaving them.
She wondered, would she let him warm her bed when he came? Would she be his little whore?
She cried but because she knew she would because she was weak, and that was if he was even willing after all this.
He could find a mate and never need her again.
A few weeks later, Tula gave birth, and Kikyo helped deliver.
Then, at thirty-four weeks, the necklace broke, all the power was gone. Kagome was at her weakest. Kikyo feared Kagome wouldn't make it.
She spent hours in labor, and she was growing tired, far too weak to go on.
"I can't," She breathed,
Kikyo looked at the moon mother. She quickly sent word and prayed there was enough time.
It was Inuyasha who found out and went deep into battle to find his brother.
"Sesshomaru!"
"I am a little busy, Inuyasha!" He sliced another cat's head off.
"Its Kagome,"
He wanted to freeze but did not stall; he couldn't,
"We have to go,"
"I can not,"
"She will die Sesshomaru,"
He was growing rather tired of this. He wanted, needed to go back to her. But his father rushed and died for it, and he was not going to do the same.
"I can not go," Besides, if he did, they would come and seek to harm her and their baby,
"Can't or won't?"
"Can't!" His eyes bled, "Do you think I want her death? I haven't even marked her yet, you fool!"
"You want to protect her,"
Is brother was an idiot.
Inuyasha's sword shook beside him, and he looked down.
The next thing Sesshomaru saw was Inuyasah holding up his sword for him. "End this,"
He looked at the sword that could kill a thousand with one swing.
"It won't hurt you, but it will end this,"
Sesshomaru stalled; yes, he was slightly afraid, but he took the sword, and his brother was once again right.
It didnt hurt him; he smirked, then gripped, then swung.
He ended it, and they rushed back.
His mother stopped him, but Inuyasha went right in.
"Why do you stop me?"
"You do not need to be in there," She knew Kagome would not want it, and he was a mess as it was and would not be helpful at this point.
They heard her scream, and his blood went hot, and his eyes began to bleed again.
Then they saw Miroku coming down the halls; behind him, there were many monks and mikos alike. They knelt down and began to pray. Miroku lifted his hand to the door and whispered.
Sesshomaru then felt the auras of demons; he and his mother moved quickly to a balcony and saw a dozen or more demons, also kneeling.
All for her, they all came for her.
Kagome cried again.
Inuyasha was on his knees, keeping his eyes locked on her face. She held his forearms as he gave her what little power he could offer. "Sesshomaru should be in here,"
"He can't help her now, it's too late,"
Kikyo was behind her, Tula was holding her dress up.
"Push Kagome,"
"I can't,"
"You can! Do you not feel it, all the power coming to you?" Kikyo told her.
Sesshomaru watched in amazement as both demonic and holy energy flowed into the room.
"One more, one more, and this nightmare would be over," Kikyo told her.
But one more and the dream would be over, too.
But her baby wanted to be born, "It's too soon," SHe cried,
"Come on, Kagome, you got this," Inuyasha told her,
So, with one more push, she cried, and then silence.
Kagome panted, covered in sweat.
Outside, Sesshomaru stopped breathing, waiting.
"Is something wrong?" Kagome asked,
Silence,
"Kikyo,"
Kikyo eyes Inuyasha, and he could see fear in them.
"Inuyasha," Kagome asked,
"Take him to his father," Kikyo pushed the baby into Inuyasha's arms. Kagome reached, but Inuyasha was too fast. She cried out in agony.
Inuyasha rushed out and up to his brother. "He needs you."
Sesshomaru stood frozen.
"Damn it, Sesshomaru," With one hand, Inuyasha snapped Sesshomaru's armor off and put the baby inside his clothes, against his bare chest.
Sesshomaru quickly grabbed the baby, and the brothers' eyes met.
"He does not breath,"
"I know he needs you,"
But Sesshomaru didnt know what to do.
Kagome was screaming my baby.
His baby, their baby.
He looked down. He had white hair and two sweet little black ears.
Greif hit him. With one hand, he petted the top of his son's head, then softly pinched one of his soft ears.
He growled, his chest rumbled.
Sesshomaru was heartbroken.
