As the trio approached the portal, they felt their fur stand up while being pulled. It was as though it were an oversized vacuum. Just as Sonic described, what awaited them was a purple mist swirling around the opening.
As the pull lifted her up, Amy dug her fingers into the plane's leather seat. Tails tried navigating with one hand while clinging to a rail which left the plane out of control. He squinted to see through the whirling debris. Sonic on the other hand, jumped to the ground in order to run against the portal's suction. The blue hero bounced between flying boulders while keeping an eye on his friends. In his hands was a rope tied to the X-Tornado.
Amy called out, "Remind me again why we're here?"
"We have to find out what is the deal with this place and whether or not Eggman's up to something," Tails replied.
Sonic yelled from the surface, "And?"
He dodged another rock and ducked under a log. Clearly uneasy the Hedgehog glanced up at his friends. He frowned as the pull increased, and Amy's fingers began to slip. Her legs were no longer able to stay grounded and her hands were the only parts of her holding onto her seat. Tails tried using his tails to fight the portal, but he became distracted as his device flew into the portal. The plane part he held snapped. Pieces of metal flew around as he was pulled out of his pilot seat.
Amy's emerald-green eyes widened as her friend was dragged by the invisible force. Everything felt surreal. Amy could only hear her own heartbeat as Sonic immediately stopped running from the portal. To keep Amy in place, he tied the plane's rope to a tree root and charged for his friend. He rocketed off a torn stump and reached.
In that brief second, Tails reached back, but his face fell as his hand missed Sonic's. Horror grew on both adoptive brothers' faces as Sonic landed without grabbing him. In a flash, the twin-tailed Fox was catapulted into the opening's purple mist.
Fangs were visible as Sonic frowned and growled, yelling, "Tails!"
He leapt for the opening without a second thought. Amy, in the meantime, could no longer grasp anything. Both she and the plane were forced into the portal.
The mist moved around them as they were rocketed through the portal. Sonic and Tails became less detectable as the pink Hedgehog squinted for them. It was as though she was flying through heavy fog. Nothing but mist could be seen.
In her panic, she called, "Sonic? Tails? Please say something!"
Neither of them replied. No one was in sight.
A light shone in the distance which suddenly filled her vision. Suddenly everything became dark as she passed out with still no clue about her friends' whereabouts.
