Hi, just a quick note, as readers probably noticed in the beginning there're only a few similarities between the Sonic games and Archie comic worlds, however, a lot of the world building is made up. The main similarities are there is a Station Square and Knothole as well as the constant fights with Dr. Eggman. I decided to call the world Earth instead of Mobius in case it might confuse people if they didn't read the comics or watched the 90's episodes. Also in this one, I decided to have Shadow be their friend. I had thought to mention this in case people don't understand why he would act friendly towards Sonic's friends.

Enjoy :)

In the meantime, Sonic, who didn't lose consciousness was tossed around in the portal. Being used faster movements, he glanced around himself. Tails was being hurled over him. Random large, smooth boulders floated around them, some of which were pulled in along with the three friends.

Taking no chances, Sonic bounced from the closest rock and shot up to the next surface. He repositioned his knees and leapt. In lightning speed, he continued until he was inches from his adoptive little brother Fox.

A darkness swept over the child who looked about in panic. The Fox's reddish orange fur stuck up as it closed in on him. As he propelled himself from another boulder, Sonic gritted his teeth and held out his hand. The second he felt Tails' glove, he seized it.

It was also that same instance that the dark fog engulfed them. A sleepiness swept over both of them. Tails passed out, and Sonic squinted his eyes. A dark blue energy glowed off his quills and his pupils began to disappear. Both of his fists were clenched. A bright white filled his eyes, hiding his emerald green irises. A yell was roared as he used more energy, forcing back the purple mist.

Once five minutes passed, Sonic's dark glow dissapated. His eyes closed for a second. When they opened, back to normal, Sonic glanced around, with uncertainty.

Where did that dark fog go? A moment ago we were completely surrounded.

Tails' groaning distracted him, and he checked his little buddy. Nothing seemed to be hurt, but the Fox cub was still asleep.

A hole opened in the purple mist, and the blue Hedgehog felt a strong pull. He and his little brother were sucked inside along with some of the floating debris. They fell through some tall trees and crashed into a bush.

Sonic rubbed his head and glanced at the sky. The purple portal overhead closed.

Tails groaned again as he rolled onto his back and ran a hand through his ginger-red bangs.

"Man," he muttered, "Talk about a crazy dream. You won't believe what it was about, Sonic. Uh, Sonic?"

His older brother shook his head and replied, "That ain't no dream, Bud. We just got sent flying through a nightmare portal. And get this, a dark fog tried to gobble you up and, well, you passed out. But one moment it was there, but the next it was gone. I must've blacked out part of the trip."

"Then all that craziness wasn't a dream." The little Fox jumped onto his feet. "Wait. Amy! She was with us."

Worried filled both of them. Sonic rubbed the back of his head. He was hoping to save Tails before they were sucked in and to protect both friends. But he was only able to grab Tails. Amy was no doubt taken somewhere else. For all they knew, she might have been still stuck in the portal.

"Sorry, Buddy, I couldn't get her."

Tails responded, "We need to find her."

"No question about that." Sonic pointed to the sky and added, "Think we can go up there? That's where the portal opened and dumped us here."

"I'll try."

The little boy positioned his legs apart and crouched. Sonic slightly raised his arms as he watched his friend twirl his twin tails. The child hovered over the ground and smiled as he did a flip to prove he was doing ok. Sonic returned the smile and allowed the Fox to bring him to the clouds. The two checked the partially overcast sky. All that was seen was the sun over the mountains.

"Looks like a normal sky," Tails remarked.

He looked down at his blue friend, who could only shake his head and reply, "Let's keep looking. There has to be something."

"Right."

They circled the sky several times. Tails ended up taking a break and sat under an oak while Sonic passed in front of him. He held his chin as he moved in and out of the trees' shadows. As unfond as he was of heavy thinking, he was missing a friend who needed to be saved. On top of it all, he had no clue where they were. Wherever they were, it wasn't their world. The trees and flowers don't even behave like normal plants. They move on their own like animals and possessed unusual colours. Some even glowed. He had circled the Earth many times, and nothing like those were ever seen. He would have noticed.

Tails watched his friend, but couldn't say anything. Without a single gadget, he felt incredibly useless. Using machines was his best trait.

What help to Sonic and Amy can I be if I don't have my gadgets? Does this world even have machines? Or material to make one?

Sonic ran over to his twin-tailed friend and said, "Come on, that's enough thinking for me. Let's jet."

As the Hedgehog pulled the child along, Tails asked, "But what if she's not in this world? What if that portal opens to other worlds?"

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Right now, let's just do what we can and search this world from top to bottom."

The Fox began to appear confident as he smiled and said, "Yeah. You're right. It's not doing Amy any good worrying all the time."

"Exactly!"

The blue Hedgehog ran, but was careful. Not only did he want to avoid destroying too much plant-life and any creature he might not see, he was also unsure how well his little brother was after what they went through.

In the meantime, the people surrounding Shadow and Amy began to hesitate as Shadow's fur glowed that mysterious red. A few backed.

Amy started to wake. As she yawned, she stretched. After rubbing her emerald eyes, she recalled what happened earlier that day. It took her no time to recognize the black and red Hedgehog who was about to wield a chaos blast.

"Shadow?" she said. Next she noticed the surrounding crowd of uncertain people.

They immediately backed away and ran in terror as soon as their eyes met hers.

"Ah! She's awake! Run while you still can," a man screamed as the villagers fled.

Confused, Shadow returned to normal and stood straight. He glanced back at an irritated Amy who looked at the fleeing crowd.

"For the last time, you have me mistaken for someone else. I'm not Sandy. It's Amy." She paused when her green eyes met Shadow's red ones. "Oh, Shadow!" She released a sigh and wiped off some sweat. "I'm so thankful for a familiar face. You won't believe what I've seen. Wait a minute..." She looked again at the neutral looking Hedgehog and asked, "How is it that you're here?"

The dark Hedgehog crossed his arms when he replied, "I was nearby when I heard you and your friends fighting something. A portal was the last thing I expected."

"You were there?"

"Yes. But I still haven't the slightest idea of what I saw. I was hoping you could tell me."

"I guess none of us have the answers. What I want to know is who is this Sandy."

"Why?"

"Someone called me that earlier. But after that everyone has been afraid of me."

"Of you?"

Amy noticed the subtle smirk and elbowed him. Of course that did nothing to him except make him smirk more.

"I'm serious here."

"Perhaps it's a dimensional double who looks like you."

"You mean like in a science fiction?"

Shadow held his chin as he looked at her and answered, "Yes."

"I think you have been watching too much tv."

"And yet, here we are in another world."

"True...But if that were the case, then we'd better not draw too much attention to ourselves."

Shadow looked ahead and said, "We'd better move. Something tells me that won't be our last ambush. Well, yours anyways. It's obvious those weak fools wish to attack you while were asleep, 'Sandy'."

The pink Hedgehog growled at the name, and her hairs rose.

Shadow chuckled as he started to walk.

He explained, "We'd best not split up in this strange world."

"Sounds like a good plan."

Amy followed him as they hurried to exit the village. As they reached the edge of the woods, Amy tripped over a wooden pail. It dumped water over the ground, which spooked a hen. As it clucked and bolted further into a yard, Amy walked into a clothes line. Shadow stood, looking back at her and smirked as he watched her fumble with a piece of clothing over her face.

He approached her and pulled off the fabric. The pink girl wrinkled her nose when she frowned and took back the cloth. Shadow looked at her while rubbing his chin. Amy titled her head, wondering about the sudden thoughtful look in his red eyes. He snapped his fingers and pulled back the cloth.

"You should hide yourself more if you intend on keeping your low profile. Of course though, it's understandable that you think you're well protected being around me and all..."

Annoyed once more, Amy held out her hand and said, "Okay, I'll make a disguise."

She drapped the cloak over her shoulders and pulled up the hood. When she finished, she pulled out another cloak and threw it at Shadow who rolled his ruby eyes in response.

"If I have to wear this, so do you."

"Very well, anything to appease you," he said as he had put it on. He then looked at her and whispered, "Sandy."

She inhaled deeply and pulled out her mallet and said, "Alright you hold still." Shadow jumped around as she said, "Don't call me that! Jerk!"

Shadow chuckled. However, he didn't notice that Amy whacked the log he was barely balanced on, and he fell into a small river.

She smiled and said, "Now we're even."

However, the moment she reached out a hand to help him out of the water, he pulled her in with him. She made a small surprised scream and splashed him. He pushed her into the water, but she stuck her head out and jumped on him.

They were at this for a bit before they crawled out to hike through the forest.
