Happiness.
Relief.
Hope.
Those were just some of the emotions running through everyone across Japan after the battle finally concluded. There symbol of peace had done the impossible, pulling through what looked like an unobtainable victory and bringing down the seemingly invincible villain. It was a feeling that so many would not be forgetting anytime soon as they all continued to cheer and yell for their idol.
Sighing in relief, Tokoyami turned away from the large screen towards the others all there. "It seems it's all over now." He quietly said and gave a small bow.
"We should have known All Might was gonna do it! Hahaha!" Kirishima laughed in both excitement and relief, earning smiles from everyone else there.
Tenya gave a nod in agreement before his face suddenly became super serious. "Now, I must go and find Katara now!"
As he sprinted off down the sidewalk, all of their eyes shot open in shock. With how much insanity they just watched, they had almost forgotten what had literally just happened a few minutes earlier.
"Holy shit! How did I forget Katara almost got snatched?!" Kirishima screamed out as he clutched his head, bringing a blush to Momo's face while she clasped her hands together.
"There was… just so much was happening I could barely think straight!" She yelled as she and everyone else ran after the speedster.
"I feel like an idiot now! How did that slip our minds?!" Kendo growled out and clenched her fists.
"She got out of there with Todoroki thanks to Gran Torino," Izuku huffed out, "We at least know she was safe. Th-then all the stuff with All Might happened and-
"That's no excuse still!" Kendo snapped back, surprising Bakugo beside her.
"The hell you all riled up for, class B?" He scoffed out, earning a glare back from Kendo.
Huffing out, Kendo looked forward in frustration. "She saved my life in the forest. The least I could do is be there to make sure she is okay."
Gritting his teeth, Izuku couldn't help but understand why Kendo was upset now. They had all been so caught up with what happened with All Might on screen, they didn't even try to find Katara or Todoroki. Even though they saw they were safe, it should've been a priority to go and find her the moment they saw they were out of their. Instead, he got so caught up with the battle on screen he almost forgot everything else happening. He looked back up and caught sight of Tenya standing in the road, happy he didn't at least lose him as well. "Iida, before you take off, we should call and see where she is!"
To Izuku's surprise, Tenya did not respond as he approached. "Iida?" He asked again, confused by the utterly shocked face of the speedster staring off his his mouth hanging open. He went to ask what was going on as he turned the same direction, but as he did, he felt his own mouth fall open in shock as his face heated up. "Uhhhh…."
The others didn't need to see Tenya's face to understand what was so surprising. Immediately all their concern washed away as they saw what froze the normally quick Ingenium in place. Standing right down the road from all of them was Shoto and Katara, the pair holding onto each other and kissing.
The group all sat in silence to the sight before them, a mix of blushes and grins forming on most of their faces. Tenya especially felt his eye twitching to the sight, his cheeks puffing out in confusion before stomping forward. "What the hell is going on here?!"
Both Katara and Shoto's eyes shot open in surprise to the sudden yell, Katara breaking away and seeing everyone standing there. "G-Guys!" She gasped out, her face turning beat red immediately as Tenya marched her way. "I… I'm glad you're safe!"
"What is happening here?! I was worried about your safety, and I find this?!" Tenya erratically began chopping in all directions, his mind spinning a mile a minute. "What is going on?! What were you doing just now?! When has this started?! Did he even ask you permission?!"
"I…" Katara pushed herself off Shoto and turned away, trying her best to hide the flustered look on her face. The laughter of some of the others behind Tenya made her glare, crossing her arms and looking at the ground. "What's so funny?"
"Well… they are okay." Momo giggled as she hid the smirk on her face.
While he felt a bit of frustration to what he saw, Tokoyami gave a deep sigh before closing his eyes and smiling. "Well, it was bound to happen at some point." He quietly added, knowing this is what she wanted.
"Hell yeah! Hahaha!" Kirishima cheered out and pumped his fist. "Get it, Todoroki!"
Shoto simply stared at everyone, his shock too much to react at the moment as his cheeks simply heated up while Tenya stood right in front of him huffing out.
"So when did you begin your assault on Katara?! How could you have done such impure behavior! You have not received permission from myself or everyone!" Tenya exclaimed out, his statement making Katara's ears perk up.
"Excuse me? Permission?!" Katara snapped out, going up to face him now. "Permission for what?!"
"It is proper respect he comes to me, Tensei and my parents for approval first before a date! And a fact, he hasn't taken you on a date and yet he forced his body on you!"
"Approval?! If I want to be with him I can! And I kissed him first!"
"Oh, so you forced yourself on him?" Kendo teased, making Katara's face scrunch up.
"She did kiss me first, yes.." Shoto quickly answered, his bluntness making Katara even redder while Tenya gasped in despair.
"You're not helping!" Katara shouted in frustration as Izuku, Momo, Kendo and Kirishima laughed.
"Why the fuck are we talking about this shit now?!" Bakugo barked out in annoyance as he stood behind everyone else, only making several of them laugh even louder.
"Holy shit, man… what I night." Kirishima sighed out as he watched Tenya and Katara now going back and forth over whatever the next one said. All while Shoto sat quiet staring at both of them. "How can this night get any crazier?"
"I would prefer if it didn't. I've had enough for now…" Tokoyami grunted and crossed his arms.
"Yeah…"Izuku laughed and rubbed his head. The sun was now breaking over the horizon, giving a light glow to the street. "We've had a lot happen and…" His words faded as he looked over to Momo, her cheeks blushing lightly as she stared at him. "Wh-what's up?"
Momo suddenly gasped and looked away. "Nothing!" She stuttered out, her heart racing now after seeing Katara and Todoroki kissing. She was imagining… 'M-me and… Izuku?!'
Izuku was actually thinking the same thing, his face burning up as he imagined being so close to her… but those thoughts vanished as he looked back to the screen above, noticing the camera directly on All Might once more. From the angle it was obvious a camera crew had arrived on the scene, the withered down hero pointing directly at the screen now.
Everyone in the street went silent, even Katara and Tenya pausing their argument as they were all drawn to the screen once more, curious to hear what was going to be said.
"Now… it's your turn."
A burst of cheers came out from the crowd as they heard their idol speak again, everyone happy to see All Might was still there. They felt even safer to the threat he gave to other villains, showing them he was ready for them as well. Izuku heard different than everyone else, his chest swelling in pain and agony to what it really meant.
'I have nothing left in me...'
The internal emotions broke through Izuku like an opening floodgate, his chest tightening immediately as he felt his heart racing inside. His eyes couldn't hold back the tears as he stared at his mentor, realizing he was passing on the torch.
All Might was finished as a hero.
As he broke down, Momo gasped in shock and ran to his side. "Izuku… Izuku what's wrong?" She asked him, gripping his shoulders to try and comfort him.
The others all sat in silence to the sudden emotional change, looking at each other in confusion to what was going on. The only one who didn't was Bakugo, his eyes locked on Midoriya as he took in what was happening. He remained quiet as he stared at his crying classmate, now sure on what he had been thinking for quite some time now.
The next few hours were mostly in silence for the UA students, a mix of things culminating together making conversations hard to bring up now. After Izuku's breakdown, the green haired teen remained quiet to most questioning, signaling the rest to let it go for now. As they all made their way back onto the train to head back their way home, their minds began replaying everything they just went through, realizing how lucky they all really were with what happened. Not to mention the stress and exhaustion on all of them was beginning to set in as well, leaving them all wanting to just decompress with a few moments of quiet.
After a little time, the first pair to get off were Kirishima and Kendo, both of them living in the Chiba district. Sighing, They stood up from their seats and looked back to everyone else. "Well, guess we will see each other in class soon." Kirishima chuckled out, trying to ease the tension with everyone.
"yeah… unless we get a call from the teachers coming for our heads." Kendo playfully frowned.
Giving a soft chuckle, Katara nodded up to both of them. "Let's just hope for the best, then."
Nodding in agreement, the pair exited off the train just before the door closed, the remaining seven sitting quietly as the train bounced along once more. Looking back to everyone else, they were all concerned to what was coming next, both with school and All Might's condition. It especially made it worse that on the train ride, they were updated with the news All Might had to retire from hero work, his injuries far too gone to continue as the number one hero.
Taking it the hardest was certainly Izuku, having not said a word since they had come onto the train. Even Momo sitting beside him only helped slightly, able to get a small smile here and there from him. After a few minutes, the train came to the final stop for all of them, the perfect midpoint for all of them near their homes. Making their way off, the remaining seven students all walked down the steps to the sidewalk, stopping as they all looked at each other one more time.
"I should get going home. My parents are probably waiting at the door for me now." Tokoyami sighed out, knowing he probably won't be allowed to leave his bedroom ever due to their concern.
Katara and the others smiled in amusement at his statement. "That is a good thing they are worried for you, though." Katara responded. "I'm glad you are safe, as well."
Smiling, Tokoyami gave a nod to her before looking to everyone else. "I know I said it before, but once again… thank you."
All of them smiled as the shadow user said his goodbyes, turning and walking down the road towards his home. They then turned to see Bakugo already about to walk away, Momo's mouth falling open in surprise. "You're leaving?"
"We are done, aren't we?" He scoffed out, "Well I am. I'm going home."
Now Katara was the one to get angry, her fists clenching at her side. "Wait, are you serious? After everything that happened, not even a thank you?"
"What about it?" bakugo growled out as he stopped, glancing over his shoulder towards the waterbender. "A hero doesn't need recognition to do the right thing. They just do it because it's what needs to be done. I thought you figured that out by breaking the rules."
Katara's eyes widened in surprise from his words, taken aback by what he said as he continued walking down the road.
"If a hero needs praise for doing what is right, then they aren't cut out for the job. Don't act like I wouldn't have done the same for you either, hair loops." He yelled out, taking a deep breath before staring at the ground once more. "But… Thanks."
The rest of the group were caught off guard by not only his quiet gratitude, but his logic. Him admitting they did the right thing was… not what they expected to say.
"Kachaan…" Izuku whispered as his childhood friend disappeared around the corner, realizing despite how he acted, Bakugo did understand what doing the right thing meant.
Momo sat in surprise as well, once again Bakugo revealing more about himself. She glanced up to the rising sun, releasing a small sigh. "I need to get going home too. My parents are going to kill me for not responding." she glanced over to Izuku and smiled. "We… both live the same direction. Want to walk together?"
Izuku's eyes widened at her request, his previous depression dissipating seeing her warm smile. His face warmed up as he swallowed the lump in his throat. "Y-yeah! Sure, sounds good!" He stuttered out with a crooked smile.
Blushing internally at his nerves, Momo turned to the remaining three and smiled. "I hope to see you all soon back in class."
"Agreed. With everything going on, it may take longer than we would like." Shoto admitted.
"As long as we are all here, that's what matters." Katara added, smiling to her two close friends.
Nodding, Momo turned and made her way down the sidewalk, with Izuku marching up beside her. Giggling slightly to the sight, Katara then turned to look at Shoto beside her, her heart fluttering as she locked eyes with him again. After months of growing closer, the fact they did what they did only hours before still made her mind spin. She could tell by the warm hue on his cheeks it wasn't just her feeling those emotions, taking a breath and stepping forward. "So… I guess I'll see you soon, then." She quietly said, bringing a smile to Shoto's face.
"Yeah," He nodded before stepping forward. "I hope we can talk and-
"Take care, Todoroki!" Tenya burst out suddenly, forcing himself between the two startled teens and thrusting his hand forward. "I hope to see you in class! Goodbye for now!"
Shoto stared blankly at Tenya's shaking hand, glancing up to see the speedster's twitching eye, obviously wanting to say something else. "Uh… You too." he responded, reaching up and shaking his hand.
"Good! Now we must go Katara, no time to waste!" Tenya exclaimed trying to push Katara with him, the waterbender glaring and shaking free.
"I think I can say goodbye first." She huffed out and walked by him, sighing as she approached Shoto once more. She could feel Tenya's eyes on her, but she shook it off and smiled once more. "We can talk more tonight. We should probably get some rest for now."
"Yeah, allowed happened last night…" Shoto quietly responded, a small smile forming as he thought of what happened in the end. "You take care, alright?"
"I will." she answered and leaned in embracing him in a hug. Shoto couldn't help but sigh internally, starting to really enjoy the warm feeling he got every time they embraced. As she pulled away, she quickly gave him another small kiss, Shoto's eyes closing while Tenya's nearly burst through his glasses. As they separated, she didn't even try to hide the blush on her face. "Bye Shoto."
Shoto's mouth hung open before he returned a smile himself. "Goodbye."
As they left each other's grip, they locked eyes one last time before Katara turned back forward. Even now, they both were unable to keep from smiling as they walked the other direction, still amazed how this had happened after everything. Tenya however gripped her shoulders and picked up his pace, making her almost stumble as they rounded the corner.
"Woah! What are you…" Katara grumbled as she glared up at him. "You need to get something off your mind?"
"Of course not! Nothing is wrong! Just trying to get home!" Tenya shot out as he cracked a forced smile. "Nothing wrong with suddenly seeing Tokoroki's orifice on yours!"
"Okay, that's it!" Katara growled and shook his hands off, rubbing her shoulder and glaring at him. "Alright, so this is what's been bugging you all night?"
Tenya frowned and crossed his arms. "You tell me. So when did this all start?"
Sighing, Katara rubbed her arm and continued walking. "I… I may have started getting feelings sometime after internships, okay? That answer your question?"
"Since then?!" Tenya gasped out as he followed her, his arm chopping erratically once more. "Have you been locking lips for this long with him?!"
"Why do you keep saying it like that?!" Katara blushed in embarrassment to his choice of words. "And no. That was the first time we kissed."
Taking a breath to calm himself, Tenya rubbed his forehead as he took it in. "So, the reason you were always doing things after school with him; it wasn't just because of training?"
As she thought about it, Katara simply gave a small shrug. "I think training and spending so much time together is why this happened. It just… I don't know. It just did."
Tenya still felt odd learning this. Katara had been a such a close part of his life she felt more than just a friend, therefore he suddenly felt a strange urge of protection over her. "It's just a lot to take in. I am shocked I did not see this before."
"Honestly… I didn't see it either until just recently. Tsu and Yaoyorozu were the ones who made me finally admit it to myself." Katara huffed out. "It's hard to explain. I just… it just felt natural."
"Hmm…" Tenya grumbled out, still trying to understand his own feelings on this. "Perhaps we can talk about this later after we rest. Right now… we must deal with what is to come now."
"Huh?" Katara tilted her head in confusion before she noticed where they were. Without realizing it, they were already in front of their home, and her worry suddenly returned. Before they got on the train, she noticed Tenya was on the phone, his eyes wide in terror to whoever was screaming at him on the other end of the line. Now they had to face Tensei and his parents, hoping to at least be able to set foot inside without being attacked.
"It's better to just face them now and be done with it." Tenya quietly said as rubbed his neck. "I am ready when you are."
While she was nervous, Katara gave a small nod and followed him up the sidewalk to the door, bracing themselves as they opened the door and-
"AAAAHHHHH!"
Both teens gasped in shock as they were yanked through the doorway, bodies being crushed by a powerful grip encircling both of them. After a moment they both felt their chest swell as they looked down to see Madoka holding them both, her eyes pouring out tears as she wept in relief.
"You stupid kids! I was so worried about you both these last few days! You have no idea what it's been like!"
"M-mother!" Tenya grimaced in pain seeing his mother like this, her eyes baggy due to her lack of sleep. "I'm sorry you couldn't come to the hospital, and-
"And you!" Makoda snapped towards Katara, the waterbending wincing from the sharp tone in her voice. "I was so afraid when the school called me and you were in the hospital. But then I saw the news, and you were…"
Both Katara and Tenya sat in silence as Madoka released them and stepped back, the older woman sniffling as she crossed her arms across her stomach. "I… I don't know what to even feel right now. I am furious at you two for doing something so stupid!"
Katara could see the pain in her face, her guilt beginning to rise in her chest. "Please don't be mad at Tenya. It was my fault. I was the one who went to go with my friends to help them, he tried to stop us and-
Katara gasped as the older woman suddenly pulled her into a tight hug, Madoka laying her head on top of her shoulder. "I'm just really glad you are alright."
Breathing in, Katara couldn't help but hug her back, smiling as she felt Madoka relax against her. After a moment she broke off from the waterbender and walked up to her son and pulled herself against his chest. "And I am so proud you didn't let her go alone. You made sure you were there for her."
Both Tenya and Katara sighed in content seeing she was happy now… just before the Iida mother stepped back glaring at both of them. "But both of you are in big trouble for doing something so stupid! You're both grounded until I say otherwise!"
As the once again furious mother stomped away, both teens sat open mouthed in shock and fear of her temper. They didn't know what else was going to come as they both felt their hearts jump to Tensei and Toki sitting in the hall further ahead, both of their faces etched in anger.
"I think you get the idea what she was saying," Toki grumbled as he stood up from his chair and marched over towards the two. Instead of yelling, his almost quiet tone sent shivers up both of their spines, making it seem that much more intimidating. "I hope you have a good explanation for what happened last night."
Swallowing the lump in her throat, Katara took the initiative and stepped forward. "It was my fault. I was the one who went with my friends to go and rescue our other friends who were taken. Tenya came to stop us, and I refused. He came too so he could make sure I was okay."
"And that made it okay?" Tensei snapped as he approached as well, stopping his wheelchair just in front of the pair. "I thought you both learned from the last stupid thing you did that you wouldn't try this again. And now you were the one who chose this, Katara."
"I had to!" Katara yelled back, her own emotions coming up. "I was useless in the forest when our class got attacked, and I wasn't able to keep our friends from being taken. I couldn't just sit and wait for something to happen to them!"
"And look what happened!" Tensei shot back, gripping his wheels in frustration. "We all saw what happened out there. That villain was so close to hurting you. You're all lucky All Might was there to stop that man from doing whatever he was planning, because you were so close to something worse happening."
"Tensei, father…" Tenya tried interjecting. "I know we were wrong to do so, but please listen. We-
"You are already on thin ice for what happened before." Toki cut off his son before turning to the waterbender. "And now you went and pretty much did the same thing, only this time you apparently got a number of your friends to join this time."
Clenching her fists, Katara sternly glared at the ground. "Our friends were in danger, and some of the others were already going to go. I couldn't just let them go without help, and I won't leave any of them when they are in need."
As Madoka returned into the hall, she sat down on the chair behind as she began drinking tea to try and calm herself. The two older men in the home stared at the pair of teens in front of them before Tensei let out a sigh. "You both are stubborn kids, you know that?" he mumbled out before smiling at them. "I'm just really glad you both are okay."
"Same for me…" Toki finally said as he placed his hand on Tenya's shoulder, rubbing him to ease the tension. "We will certainly talk more about this later, but right now you two need to get some rest. You look like shit both of you."
Tenya and Katara had to hold back the small bit of laughter that came up hearing his joke, relieved they weren't being killed on the spot. Tensei rolled his eyes playfully as he came closer to them. "You have anything to say to them for not locking you up for life?"
Tenya's eyes burst open when he remembered a crucial fact, pointing his finger to the girl next to him. "Katara kissed a boy!"
PFFFFFFFFFT!
Madoka's tea sprayed out of her mouth from her sons outburst, her face flushing red immediately. "What?!" she coughed out.
"Tenya!" Katara screamed in embarrassment as both Tensei and Toki's eyes widened in surprise.
"Okay, we definitely have some things to talk about." Tensei said before he couldn't stop from laughing.
Walking down the sidewalk together, Izuku and Momo mostly remained silent, still trying to take in everything that had happened over the night before. But as they walked, there was one thing that had been bothering the creationist the entire time, finally working up the nerve to ask.
"Izuku, when we saw that last thing All Might said on the screen… why did you react like that?" She asked him, immediately sensing him tense up to the question. "Everyone there saw it as hope…. But you know it was something different, didn't you?"
Izuku sat silent as she turned toward him, his heart pounding in his chest to her question. He didn't want to break All Might's promise revealing the secret of the power he received, but he didn't want to keep lying to Momo after all this time now. She had been open with him about what happened to her when she was younger, and now it felt fair for him to do the same. Besides… he couldn't lie to himself anymore about feelings he was gaining for her, and if he ever gained the courage to get closer to her, he would need to tell her eventually.
"It's… it's a long story," He finally said. "It's something I can't just tell to everyone."
"Oh…" Momo muttered, feeling her chest tighten as she turned to keep walking. She simply assumed he was done talking… before she was stopped by his hand gripping her wrist.
"But… I feel you of all people should know too. I want you to trust me." Izuku looked up at her with a soft smile. "M-maybe we can meet sometime after we rest up and… I'll tell you everything. We should get home now though, I bet our parents are worried now."
Momo was a mix of feelings right then. She felt a warm tingle inside hearing he wanted to tell her his own secrets, but a mix of disappointment seeing she would have to wait to hear them now. (Although she did make him and Katara wait after breaking down in the hall after the festival, so she couldn't judge much.) Giving a small nod, she smiled at him. "Okay. Maybe we can talk about it over dinner sometime."
The moment she mentioned that, both of their faces went red immediately. She didn't even realize she pretty much asked him on a date, the request making Izuku's face heat up instantly. "Y-you mean w-we-" He stuttered out.
"I mean we… you know can…" Momo took a breath as she tried making an excuse before she sat still for a moment, her brow furrowing in annoyance.
"No…" Momo stomped her foot down, clenching her eyes in frustration. She wasn't doing this anymore. She knew how she felt, and she knew his as well. She also remembered the deal she made with Katara, about showing their feelings to the guy they liked as long as the other did. Katara had already done that, and Momo sure as hell was done beating around the bush herself.
Grabbing his shirt, she leaned forward and gave him a deep kiss.
The feeling sent jolts through both of them, months of tension building up until it finally reached this point. Momo almost squealed in excitement and fear doing this, her heart doing back flips as she felt his mouth against hers. After a moment she finally broke free, a large smile etched in her face as she opened her eyes. When she did however, her smile faded into a look of shock as Izuku stood there eyes blank and rolled over white. The shock and pleasure had been so much he wasn't able to comprehend the sudden kiss.
He had literally passed out standing up.
"Uhhh…" Momo's face flushed a deep crimson as she now felt horrible to what she did, feeling like she caused his brain to shutdown from her sudden forced kiss. She quickly released her grip and sprinted down the road towards her home. "ByeIzukuthanksforthewalkand-bye!" she screamed out in embarrassment and left him standing there, not realizing he was actually conscious still.
"She… she just….." he muttered in shock, amazement, confusion, and happiness. "I just… she… I… got a… I just got a… that was better than one for all!"
Two days had now passed since the raid in Kamino. With the UA campus still closed while everything was being sorted out, the teachers were at a crossroads with everything that was going on. Sitting in the main office was Nezu, the small principle looking across his desk to both Aizawa, Vlad and the still healing Toshinori. The trio sat in silence as they listened to the head of the school going over what to do next.
"I must say this predicament that has come over us is certainly not what we expected. But I hope you can all do your best to push onward and help our students push themselves to the next step." Nezu enthusiastically declared, only earning a small sight from All Might.
"I just really hope this plan of yours will end up working. If we can't get the parents to agree, then is it still a viable plan?" All Might asked, receiving a small smile from the principle.
"And that is where you come in. We need you to convince all the parents this is the best option available for both safety and security to their kids. With that in mind, it is imperative we try and get this done as soon as we can." Nezu turned his attention to the two homeroom teachers, noticing the looks of frustration over Vlad's face. "Is there something else you need to add?"
Growling, Vlad looked to the ground and rubbed his head. Before All Might had arrived into the room, he had discussed a very important matter with both Nezu and Aizawa, something that had been eating away at him since the raid. He looked back up to the principle and frowned. "No sir… as long as we have our agreement, I can go."
Nezu remained silent, instead glancing over to Aizawa sitting there. "The decision remains for him to make."
The eraser teacher stared at the class B teacher for what felt like a full minute. After listening to the white haired man rant in anger when he arrived, Aizawa himself was certainly surprised when he heard what came next. Sighing, he turned and looked back to the principle. "If that is what should happen, then so be it."
Hearing the answer, Vlad took a deep breath before he turned and headed towards the door. "All right then. I need to go and tell my students the plan then."
Clapping his paws, Nezu smiled up to the other teachers. "Splendid! Now you should all get going as well. We have a lot of students to meet and reveal to them what we are offering them all."
Nodding, Aizawa turned and headed out the room with Toshinori out the open door left by Vlad. Before they could turn and head towards the exit, Aizawa stopped when he noticed Yamada coming his way. The voice teacher's brow raised slightly when he saw his childhood friend, neither having spoken since their interaction a few days prior. Toshinori noticed the awkward tension, frowning slightly and looking towards Aizawa. "I can wait by the car."
Being left alone, Aizawa stared at his friend for a few moments before sighing. "We are about to head out to announce Nezu's new plan. All Might and myself have to meet the class A students."
Yamada sat quiet for a couple seconds before he started walking, passing by his colleague before answering. "I got the class C kids."
The calm tone in Yamada's outspoken voice made Aizawa frown, already missing the loud and obnoxious personality he usually carried. Turning, Aizawa followed him several steps down the hall. "Yamada. I know you're still pissed at me for keeping you in the dark. And I know it's probably hard for you to think I don't trust you. That is further from the truth."
Yamada stopped walking as he stared at the ground, still not turning around as Aizawa continued.
"It may take sometime for you to regain my trust, but allow me to at least explain everything I know."
Reaching up and scratching his head, Yamada sighed out and kicked the ground. "I have to get going. Can't keep waiting or won't have time for all them kids."
Aizawa felt his chest tighten to the answer he heard, frustrated seeing he couldn't even try and mend the bridge with his friend. Before he could say anything however, Yamada turned and looked right at him. "I should be done by sunset. First round is on you."
While surprised at first, Aizawa couldn't help but allow a small smirk to form on his face. "Pineapple rum, right?"
Yamada's signature grin soon grew on his face. "Of course. You still straight whiskey?"
"When have I ever changed?"
Staring at herself in the bathroom mirror in just her bra and pants, Katara sighed as she reached to pull off the remaining bandages on her shoulder. She winced as the tape tugged against her skin as it came off, finally pulling free as she got her first look at what was left. Her eyes widened in surprise to how well it healed already, but the circular scar on her shoulder was certainly never leaving her body. The skin had closed up, but the surrounding area was still a light red as it continued healing up.
"Not near as bad as I thought it was going to be." She said happily as she rolled her arm a few times, grateful most of the pain was gone as well. She grabbed her shirt and slipped it over her body, choosing now to simply let her hair free out of it's braid behind herself now. After keeping it out the last few days, she decided to go back to her loose hair look, even when she went back to school.
Making her way to the living room and kitchen, Katara grabbed one of the water bottles out of the fridge and sat down at the table. Tensei was already eating a late breakfast, the pair choosing to sleep in today. For Katara, it was perhaps the first good night of sleep she had got in quite sometime actually. After the Kamino incident, her body was in such an adrenaline filled state she couldn't really get comfortable. After having the last day to decompress fully however, she was finally able to relax. But it was more than just the emotional exhaustion finally wearing off.
For the last two nights… the mysterious dreams had stopped.
Katara had no idea what was going on now. Before going to the forest, she had been experiencing dreams constantly ending with that strange light. After that last image she saw in Kamino that night, she hasn't had one. Even when she sat and tried thinking about it before bed, her mind didn't replay those images. Not even nightmares plagued her sleep, assuming she would've had some after dealing with All for One. But nothing tormented her, only standard, random dreams recently. She could however sense something was there… she just couldn't get to it yet.
Looking up as he ate, Tensei noticed Katara was deep in thought as she drank her water, although his interpretation was certainly different. "So, when do I meet him?"
Katara choked as she drank her water to the sudden question, coughing as she glared at Tensei across the table. "You keep asking that."
Smirking, Tensei chuckled as he took another bite of his eggs. "Hey, I'm just curious what this guy you like is. You haven't been able to see him at all lately."
While Katara did feel her stomach tighten at that statement, she simply sighed out and leaned back in her chair. "I haven't been able to see all of my friends. I'm grounded, remember?" she grumbled out, neither her or Tenya being allowed to leave the last two days.
"Hey, you should be thankful we let you keep your phone to talk to your friends still. Normal grounded means no communication, but with what happened recently we let that one slide."
Katara sat in silence to what he was saying, and had to admit it wasn't wrong. Ever since they returned home, her phone had been going off nonstop from everyone in class seeing how she was doing. Mina especially had to call her everyday for a while to chat, not able to keep calm after seeing her on TV. She couldn't imagine what they would all be thinking if she simply wasn't responding at all during this time. And… she was grateful to have been able to talk to Shoto since they couldn't meet, her cheeks heating up slightly as she thought of their last moment once more.
"It's just… it's a lot to think of right now." She finally said, bringing a chuckle out from Tensei.
"It's alright, I'm just teasing. I haven't been able to escape Tenya from talking about it though."
A sudden knock on their door caught both of their attentions. "Brother! Katara! There is something important to discuss!"
Katara frowned hearing Tenya's voice on the other side of the door, getting up and marching over to it and opening it. "No, I'm not talking about it again and-
Her words were cut off immediately when she was met with not only Tenya, but both his parents and Aizawa standing there. "Aizawa sensei?"
"I don't want to know whatever you two were talking about," Aizawa mumbled. "I'm here for something else."
"Uhh…" Katara felt herself sweat as her teacher stared down at her, his cold gaze telling he knew exactly where they were the other night. Swallowing, she moved out of the way as everyone made their way into the room as Tensei rolled himself up.
"Good morning. Glad you could make it." Tensei said as he offered his hand to the guest.
Aizawa nodded and shook his host. "Pleasure. How're you holding up?"
Shrugging, Tensei turned and moved towards the living room. "As good as I can be. But you aren't here for me."
Shaking his head, Aizawa followed him to the couch and sat in the single seat across. "No, I called you and your parents for a something important."
Both Katara and Tenya were confused and concerned with what was going on as they followed the other parents into the room and sat down on the adjacent couch. After a few moments of silence, Tenya swallowed before attempting to speak. "S-sir… is there a reason why you came here?" he asked.
"Yes. I'll get to it quick since I have a lot of other homes to go to still." Aizawa turned to the parents in the room as he crossed his arms. "I assume this has been quite the year for you two. With everything that's happened, I'm really impressed how well you've handled everything."
Toki and Madoka gave a quick look at each other before sighing together. With Katara moving in, Tensei's injury, and the many close encounters that happened with both Tenya and Katara, it was more than most could handle. Not to mention learning their new in guest guest was some out of universe being as well.
"It's… been a lot, yes." Madoka admitted. "There has been more things happening in this last couple months than we had for years before."
"And I appreciate your strength in handling all of this. Now I had come to talk to you about more than just the strengthened security of our campus we are planning, which is why I need your permission for what's to come."
Now the rest of the room was confused, their heads tilting in curiosity to his statement. "What do you mean?" Toki asked.
"There is a new plan we have set in motion for the UA students. Because of the frequency of activity from villains recently, we have come up with a solution to allow the students to continue training yet remain under our protection at all times. And that is why I'm here." Aizawa leaned forward resting his hands on his knees. "We are requesting that the students will now live on campus."
All eyes in the room widened in surprise to the request, even the adults learning this for the first time. "Live on campus?" Katara asked, earning a nod from their teacher.
"The rise in villain activity recently has put many parents on edge now to the safety of our school. To ensure all students can be protected, we are now setting it up so they will actually remain within the school barriers even after hours. By doing this, even at night they will remain under our supervision, but that means parental access will have to be limited. Not even leaving to visit home can be allowed without written approval by the school, and shall only be on very seldom occasions."
"How is this possible? There are no housing units at UA." Toki questioned.
Seeing the confused faces on everyone, Aizawa sighed and leaned forward. "We have already set it up where the students will have dorms per classroom set up within the perimeter. Each student will have their own private room so they can still have their own space. What we need is your permission to go forward with our plan to allow both of them to go."
"This is…. Alot to take in." Madoka rubbed her hand as she sat there. "It's just with all that has happened and…"
Seeing the pained look on the mothers face made Aizawa stare straight at the two teens sitting in front of him. "And don't worry. I have plenty of things I still need to discuss with these two about responsibility, so they will receive extra special attention."
Tensei couldn't help but smirk at the terrified look on both of their faces, sighing as he leaned up in his chair. "Well, if you promise to keep an eye on them, then I say let's do it."
Katara's eyes widened at Tensei's quick answer, really surprised he chose it so fast after everything that happened. "Really?"
"I know both Katara and my brother are some little troublemakers, so maybe having to live by you will actually straighten them out."
"The teachers won't be in the same building as the students, but don't worry." Aizawa's gaze hardened as he locked onto Katara and Tenya. "I will be close enough to keep an eye on them. And I have a lot of things planned for them when we get back to school, so we can save that talk for later."
Both Toki and Madoka sat in silence for a moment, not expecting this to be what was to be discussed. It only took a few seconds for them both to nod to one another before turning back to the teacher. "I know it will be hard not seeing them much, but if you can ensure their safety… then we accept." Madoka announced.
As the day rolled by, student after student was met by the teachers. Much like the ones before, they were all taken aback in surprise to learn that UA was offering free Dorm living on campus to ensure their safety. The shock was replaced with amazement and excitement by most students, ready to pack their bags right then to get ready for the day to move in. It was smooth sailing for most parents, able get over their initial worry knowing their would be surrounded by pro heroes at all times. It was going much smoother than anticipated, until Izuku.
His mother was at first against even letting her son continuing his schooling there, seeing how he was always coming home injured. Luckily, the determination in her sons eyes and the plead from All Might was enough to finally convince her to let him go back to school. And the process was very similar with class B as well, most parents easy to convince while a few others took more time to get to finally say yes.
But that all changed when Vlad finally arrived at a certain home.
Sitting in the living room, the scowling teacher stared across the small coffee table to Itsuka Kendo. As soon as he came inside the house, he gave a quick explanation to the housing proposition the school was offering… before requesting to her parents he speak to Kendo alone. While hesitant at first, they respected the teachers request and left the room, leaving their daughter alone in silence. The tension was so thick it could've been cut with a knife, the teen facing her teacher for the first time since that night. Just by the look of anger on his face, she already knew he was aware of her involvement there.
Taking a deep breath to control himself, Vlad crossed his arms and closed his eyes. "To say I am upset is a very polite word, learning that students had gone to Kamino several nights ago. I figured if anyone was to do it, it was never going to be you. And yet here we are…"
Kendo winced slightly at the tone in his voice, feeling a small shiver as he opened his eyes, glaring right at her. "You are my most trusted student, the class representative. You are supposed to be a role model for the others, and yet you did something so foolish and irresponsible. To say I am disappointed in your actions is an understatement."
"I know, sir…" Kendo quietly responded, gripping the couch by her legs as she felt his eyes staring her down. "After everything that had happened, I had to go and-
"And do what? Fight the villains and risk your life?" He scolded her, crossing his arms in anger. "The first thing you should have done is gone and reported to us when you heard those class A students were planning something. And even if you didn't tell us, you should have known better than to do something so foolish."
Now Kendo was the one to glare, clenching her fists in frustration. "I couldn't just sit there as they went to try and help their friends. They helped us when we were attacked in the forest, and I had to do the same. Isn't that what we are supposed to do? Save and help people that are in need?"
"When it's permitted to do so. You had no right to act on your own and do what you did." Vlad growled out. "It is honestly a miracle none of you kids got hurt doing something so reckless and dangerous. I thought I taught you to be smarter than that. And what about about your classmates? How are you supposed to be their rep if you can't even follow the rules yourself?"
"I did what I had to, sir." Kendo said in defiance. "I know it was against the rules, and I know it was wrong. But if it happened over, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again."
The fierceness in Kendo's voice made Vlad's eyes open in surprise. He always knew Kendo was a strong willed kid, hence why the others in his class almost unanimously voted her as the representative. While it was wrong what happened, in some way or form, Vlad actually felt impressed by the determination coming from her and her choice. It takes a strong determination to face up to what she did, something he even felt a small amount of respect for. But it still was not the answer he was looking for. The fact she was willing to break the rules again was not something he would deal with again, meaning he had no choice.
Exhaling, Vlad lowered his hands and placed them on his knees. "Kendo, you have always been one of my top students. Ever since you came in my class, I saw great potential in you. But as my student, you did something so reckless and dangerous, I cannot overlook it. Class A has gotten an unfair reputation for causing trouble even though it hasn't been their fault most of the time. This event however is something completely different, and that is where I draw my line."
Kendo swallowed at the cold tone coming from her teacher, almost wishing he was yelling instead of speaking like this. Vlad closed his eyes as he clenched his hands. "Aizawa has multiple students to deal with in this situation, and if he wants to allow that behavior in his class, that is his choice. What I won't tolerate however is the same thing coming into my class."
Now Kendo felt her heart racing at his words, her eyes widening from his stern gaze falling on her again. "I… I understand sir." She answered, still tying to keep her composure as she awaited whatever punishment came her way.
"I don't think you do understand…" Vlad hissed in frustration, still upset he was doing this but had to set an example for his other students. "I am not giving you detention, or suspending you. I have however made the choice to not allow such reckless behavior among my students. Therefore… you are no longer a student in my classroom."
The words that came out of her teachers mouth felt like a sledgehammer to the red headed teen, her mouth falling open in shock. "Wh-what?!" she gasped out. She jumped off the couch and stood in front of him, her eyes bulging out in fear to what she just heard. "Sensei, I know it was wrong what I did, but I can't be kicked out! I have always dreamed of being a hero, and I finally made it here! Please!"
Kendo's fists shook in fear that her dreams of being a hero had just been crushed, everything she had worked for now were suddenly impossible now. But what she didn't expect were the words coming out of her teachers mouth next, her eyes bulging open in shock and confusion.
Another two days went by before the day had come. The day all the students were finally able to come back to school, all of them excited to be back after a week of tension and stress. After they were told to have stuff ready for pickup, the class A students were told to head to school and meet just outside the office instead of the newly assigned dorm house as they awaited further instructions by Aizawa. Straightening her outfit as she got off the train, Katara sighed in relief to be finally out of the house after being on lock down for this whole time.
As her and Tenya made their way to UA, they were met with the excited faces of their friends as they hounded her and the others about what happened. Luckily most of them gave some space since they had already been updated through the last few days, simply wanting to see how they were holding up.
"I gotta say, all of you bastards are pretty crazy." Sero laughed out as he and Kirishima fit bumped each other.
"Yeah, but we all got out so we are good." Kirishima responded with a grin.
Tokoyami was slightly overwhelmed by the amount of concern he was receiving, finally seeing he was as much a part of this class as everyone else. He felt a small nudge on his side, turning to see Tsu smiling up at him. "Ribbit. It's good to see you back. I'm glad you're doing fine." she happily said.
Tokoyami gave a small smirk in return. "Thanks. I feel relieved to be out of there as well.
"Still, that was really scary seeing everything on TV," Uraraka muttered out as she shivered. "I'm glad you all are safe."
Remembering how risky it was, Katara couldn't help but rub her arm slightly. "Yeah it was pretty intense. But as long as we all made it, that's what's important."
"First off I have to say…" Mina gave a hum as she analyzed the waterbender's loose hairstyle before grinning. "I love the new look. Going for something different I see."
"Yeah, you rock it good!" Toru happily cheered in support.
Smiling at their praise, Katara gave a nod of gratitude. "Thanks. I've had my hair like this before. Figured I'd go back to this again." She then noticed Izuku and Momo through the group, the pair keeping several others between themselves as their faces burned deep red. "Are… are they okay?"
"Hmm?" Mina turned to look the same direction, immediately frowning when she saw the same sight. "Who knows. Yaomomo was here first. And the moment Midoriya showed up, they both went silent."
"The rush of emotions!" Uraraka announced out, determined to make them accept their feelings.
What they didn't know was Momo did reveal her feelings, yet her action had caused them both to become so embarrassed they didn't talk for a few days. And they never got to meet either since Momo's parents also grounded her as well, so seeing each other for the first time now was quite the task for them.
While she was happy to see everyone as well, Katara couldn't help but look around as she tried to find a certain red and white haired teen. Even though she was able to talk to him over the last couple days, they both preferred to save their special talk until they could meet in person. They would have liked to meet before they were moving into the school, but circumstances worked out this way and they would take what they could get. When she turned to the path behind, she felt her heart skip once more.
Walking towards the rest of the class was Shoto, his eyes immediately finding her as well. They both smiled as he came closer, finally able to see each other after that fateful night. Before he was too close however, Aizawa appeared to the front of the class right then, putting both of them on edge from the stern glare he was giving to everyone. Holding back their urge to embrace right there, both of them stood next to each other as Aizawa slipped his hands into his pockets.
"Good morning kids…" He muttered out, "So now that all of you are here, there is something important I need to discuss with you before we head to the dorms."
Everyone already had a feeling of what was to come, swallowing the nerves building up inside. Before he could continue, Sero did notice someone was missing. "Uh sir, no we aren't. Koda isn't here yet."
The rest of the class suddenly looked around in surprise, realizing Sero was right. Despite his size, Koda's quiet demeanor usually allowed him to slip through most's field of vision. "Indeed, sir! It is imperative we wait for all of our class members!" Tenya declared out, before shivering to the look he received from Aizawa.
"The reason he isn't here is because he is no longer in this classroom."
Many gasped in surprise, assuming his parents chose to keep him out of school now until their teacher continued. "Due to what happened the other day, there has been a change to the arrangement of students now. While it wasn't my initial decision, I have agreed to go along with it. We will in fact be having a new student joining our class now."
The sound of footsteps behind the confused classroom caught their attentions, turning around and seeing what he was talking about. Katara, Momo and the others eyes widened in complete surprise as they saw who was walking their way, the teens face filled with a mix of awkwardness and unsettling.
Standing there before them was Itsuka Kendo, the newest member of class 1-A.
Notes: What? a chapter a week after? wow! don't expect this often. it just worked out this way. and i had time so why not?
OHH! Kendo joining class A? another dynamic switch i hope you all enjoy. Why not put all the troublemakers into one classroom?
Now I Gotta say... to the people complaining about the romance the last chapter... you realize a tag says romance, right? But i will say... don't worry, the romance is still not the main focus of the story. and calling Katara a damsel? it's okay for characters to need help when they reach their limits, but if that is your opinion, nothing wrong. I have plenty of things planned for her now.
and as a special treat, i have a piece of artwork teasing that arc i have planned! go to my profile and you will see the newest link to it! (Spoilers? whatever, i can't wait for it!)
I have another artwork planned as well, so you will see that soon too!
hope to see your reviews through this story as we get closer to my next big arc. Till next time!
