Panem Events

Nova was well received by Panem, and Two was proud to have another Victor. President Marcello used her Games as a metaphor to not backstab your allies, directed to his original party, Alpha Aurea. Nova soon became a face for the President's new ideals something that she was not interested in being involved with. Her Victor's Tour became propaganda for the President as he tried to create a compromise between the Alpha Aurea and Augmenta Pax parties. Nova became very concerned for her well-being due to President Marcello having many unhappy colleagues.

Alpha Aurea had felt as if the President had forgotten the values that he started his career with. Without a clear leader, Alpha Aurea had no clear mission anymore and some members would continue to protest against the President. On the other hand, Augmenta Pax seemed only to strengthen as their numbers grew. Many people in the Capitol saw the benefit of increasing the welfare of the Districts and that overall industry was improving. With a new Games approaching, President Marcello felt like he had united Panem with a thin thread. He relied on Head Gamemaker, Julius Falco, to create another great Hunger Games to keep the Capitol attuned to as tensions continued to decrease. Julius did not release any trailers for the Games but made the promise that this year's Hunger Games would be the longest post-Rebellion.

As for the tributes, the Careers were fairly average with most of them scoring a nine except for the District One duo. Nox was the only tribute to score a ten; his dark skin (a rarity for tributes of One), massive size, and charming personality made him a Capitol favorite. His District Partner, Juliet, only scored an eight and was less stunning and very shy compared to the other Careers. The District Two duo were the youngest of the Careers but seemed to be the most ruthless in their interviews. As for the outlier tributes, the only standouts were Scarlet of Eight who scored an eight, and Sawyer of Seven who scored a seven. They were both great at public speaking and the Capitol adored them, although they did not consider each other for allies. Instead, Sawyer was going in solo and Scarlet had an alliance with Kat of Eleven. Scarlet and Kat had asked Charlotte of Ten to join, but she denied their offer. The only other alliances were Gizmo and Teeva of District Three and a large outer district alliance consisting of the Einkor and Amara of Nine, Thyme Berwick of Eleven, and Gullick and Erin of Twelve.

Day One

The tributes rise into the arena in gray long-sleeved shirts, dark denim jeans, and black tennis shoes. They desperately look around to gather their bearings. The sky is overcast and towering skyscrapers block out most of the sky. This year's arena is a post-apocalyptic cityscape; many partially demolished skyscrapers line the debris-laden streets. The Cornucopia is filled with an abundance of supplies but with plenty of hiding places in the arena, many tributes would flee from the Bloodbath.

The gong rings and the tributes take off. Between the pedestals and the Cornucopia, concrete, and rebar debris makes many tributes cautious as they run. Darrah uses her agility to make it to the Cornucopia first and finds a vest of throwing knives. She quickly puts it on and spots Miles push Riga from behind and she falls to the ground. Darrah protects her ally by throwing a knife into Miles' heart.

24. Miles Hubo, D6- knife thrown into chest by Darrah Lindelof, D4

The District One duo, Juliet and Nox, race into the mouth of the Cornucopia and grab their first choice of weapons. Juliet grabs a long serrated dagger and Nox picks up a machete. They go to leave the mouth of the Cornucopia and spot the District Twelve pair digging in a crate a few feet away. Juliet races up to the girl, Erin, and slices her dagger across Erin's throat.

23. Erin Kerry, D12- throat slashed by Juliet Lapidus, D1

The District Twelve boy, Gullick, screams and goes to run but Nox grabs Gullick by the shoulder and throws him to the ground. Nox stabs his machete into Gullick's chest before running away and leaving the young boy to bleed out.

22. Gullick Jeffrey, D12- stabbed in the chest by Nox Durant, D1

Chiff runs towards the Cornucopia and spots a large backpack hiding behind a concrete block. He trips over a piece of rebar and falls onto the hard pavement. Hurly spots Chiff struggle to get back on his feet. Hurly races over and stabs his trident into Chiff's back.

21. Chiff LeHerth, D8- stabbed in the back by Hurly Glasglow, D4

Kat from Eleven runs to the backside of the Cornucopia in search of her ally, Scarlet. She finds Scarlet fighting Juliet. Scarlet holds her own against Juliet until she trips and falls back onto the ground. Kat shouts to get Juliet's attention, and Juliet turns around and slashes her dagger out and it cuts across Kat's left arm. Kat stumbles back from Juliet, but then Juliet shudders and a burst of blood explodes from her mouth. Juliet falls to the ground and Charlotte stands behind her with a bloody sword. Without saying another word, Charlotte runs away. Scarlet has gotten back to her feet and grabs Kat's hand and the duo escapes the Bloodbath.

20. Juliet Lapidus, D1- stabbed in the back by Charlotte Love, D10

Thyme desperately runs around the Bloodbath in search of his allies. He spots the bodies of Gullick and Erin on the ground and tears well up in his eyes. He goes to turn away from the bodies but is met by the towering Nox. He easily hacks his machete across Thyme's chest and he falls to the ground.

19. Thyme Berwick, D11- stabbed in the chest by Nox Durant, D1

As the Bloodbath comes to a close, Brockton chases after Benji. Benji runs as fast as he can away from Brockton. Benji turns down a side street but stops in his tracks because the road is blocked by an overturned truck. Benji starts to climb over the truck but Brockton catches up to him. Brockton grabs the back of Benji's shirt and throws him to the ground. Brockton then easily stabs Benji in the chest.

18. Benji Locke, D5- stabbed in the chest by Brockton Soden, D2

Seven cannons boom as the Bloodbath ends. The Careers regroup at the Cornucopia with their only loss being Juliet. A plethora of outlier tributes flee the Cornucopia and spread out within the ruins of the city. Many of the tributes find shelter within the buildings of the arena. There are a lot of tributes going solo in these Games. Naomi of Five ran from the Cornucopia without getting any supplies, she fled far to the eastern edge of the arena. She stumbles behind a dumpster for shelter and falls asleep from exhaustion a few hours later. Jeane of Six also fled without getting any supplies, but she didn't run very far from the Cornucopia before finding shelter on a high floor of a skyscraper. From her vantage point, she has a good view of the Cornucopia and the Careers' camp. Cigna of Seven grabbed a small knife and a loaf of bread at the Bloodbath. She finds a library in the southern part of the arena with its ceiling caved in and books littering the floor. Sawyer of Seven managed to get a large backpack and a sword. He had a throwing knife graze his left leg as he ran away but the wound is superficial. He takes shelter in a stairway leading to an underground subway that is blocked by debris. Mali of Ten doesn't travel far from the Cornucopia before making camp in the lobby of a deserted hotel. Charlotte of Ten got a backpack and a sword from the Bloodbath. She heads east and takes shelter on the upper floor of a skyscraper.

Other than the Careers three alliances are still intact. The District Three alliance of Gizmo and Teeva heads north with a single backpack. They make camp on the third floor of a skyscraper and open their pack to find a spool of wire, a full canteen, and two packs of jerky. Amara and Einkor of Nine lost three allies in the Bloodbath and didn't get any supplies. They find shelter within a ransacked restaurant not far from the Cornucopia. Scarlet of Eight and Kat of Eleven both managed to get weapons and backpacks. They stay near the Cornucopia and make camp on the upper floor of a skyscraper. They too can see the Cornucopia and Careers from their camp.

Day Two

In the morning, Riga cooks breakfast for all of the Careers. Hurly recommends that Nox stays to guard the Cornucopia, mostly to cope with his district partner's death. Nox denies needing to miss any action to cope with his feelings. He even states he and Juliet barely knew each other. However, the District Four and Two duos both seemed set on hunting for outlier tributes in their respective duos. Brockton and Riga head north while Hurly and Darrah head south. Nox doesn't want to hang out at the Cornucopia alone all day so a few minutes after his allies leave he decides to do some hunting on his own.

Jeane watches as Nox heads off on his own, leaving the Cornucopia deserted. She sneaks her way down the dilapidated stairwell to the street outside. She looks down the street and doesn't see any movement. She sprints two blocks before reaching the city square where the Cornucopia is located. She grabs a dagger and stuffs a backpack with food and two bottles of water. She makes sure to not leave anything amiss before running back to her encampment in the skyscraper. Scarlet and Kat watch from another vantage point as Jeane steals from the Cornucopia unharmed. They debate going as well but decide against it since they don't know when the Careers will be back. They also have quite a bit of supplies to last them the next few days.

Sawyer and Charlotte are the only outlier tributes who actively search for other tributes. Charlotte hunts in the southern part of the arena but doesn't have any luck. Sawyer is in the eastern part of the arena and heads towards the outer edge of the arena. He discovers an abandoned diner and takes shelter there as the sun begins to set. Inside he finds some stale hamburger buns, a package of potatoes, and an assortment of knives in the cabinets. He builds a trap at the door of the dinner using the knives to attack any tribute who opens the door. For his efforts, he receives a sponsor's gift of a wrap of gauze and some medicinal ointment for his leg wound from the Bloodbath.

The remainder of the tributes spend the day hidden away. Not much action occurs as many are too scared to leave their hiding places. Naomi stays behind her dumpster but has stacked some concrete and debris to make her spot more hidden. Cigna remains in the partially destroyed library and has started to read a fantasy book about demon hunters. Mali stays in the lobby of the hotel he is in and pushes all the furniture to block the main doors. Gizmo and Teeva do not venture outside their building but do spend most of the day discussing a game plan for the remainder of the Games. Einkor and Amara find a can of beans in the pantry of the restaurant to share and talk to each other for most of the day.

A few hours before sunset, Nox returns to the Cornucopia. He didn't find any tributes on his hunt and is eager to hear what the rest of the Careers have to say. It's not long before the others return. Neither the District Four nor Two duos saw a single tribute. They all discuss a strategy for tomorrow since the arena has so many nooks and crannies and going through all the buildings is a tough task. Hurly and Darrah admit they didn't even search the buildings and instead walked the streets. Nox had to hold back his tongue. Brockton and Riga were also unhappy but they also didn't search too hard since it was only the second day.

Day Three

The Careers wake up early and go over the plan for the day. Riga volunteers to stay at the Cornucopia. While the others will hunt as a pack and systemically search each building as they go along the street. They assume that most tributes have traveled far from the Cornucopia. The Careers walk almost a mile before starting to search buildings. In reality, a majority of tributes are located within a half-mile of the Cornucopia.

The day passes slowly as many tributes stay hidden. The Careers, Sawyer, and Charlotte all hunt for tributes but without any luck. Gizmo and Teeva, start to set traps within the lobby of the skyscraper using the wire they got from the Cornucopia along with some random debris and items within the building. It takes them all day to set up only five traps, three in the lobby and two in the stairwell. They receive a larger spool of wire as a sponsor's gift that evening.

Day Four

The Careers come up with a new game plan for the day. Instead of hunting as a pack, they will split up in duos with each pair taking a side of the street. Brockton volunteers to guard the Cornucopia. The pairs start closer to the Cornucopia and around noon Darrah and Riga walk into the restaurant that Amara and Einkor are in. Amara and Einkor are sitting in the kitchen when they hear the front door open.

"Quick hide!" Einkor whispers to Amara as she opens a cabinet and tries to squeeze inside it.

Einkor grabs a frying pan from the wall but accidentally hits it on the counter. The noise alerts Riga and Darrah who are already heading towards the kitchen. Darrah swings the door open. Amara screams as she pulls herself out of the cabinet. Riga goes after Einkor as he turns and sprints away.

Darrah grabs Amara by the hair and pulls her from the cabinet as she continues to scream. Amara wails and thrashes as she tries to get out of Darrah's grip. Darrah easily takes a throwing knife from her belt and slices it across Amara's throat.

17. Amara Mays, D9- throat sliced by Darrah Lindelof, D4

Einkor races through the back door of the kitchen and Riga follows him. Rubble blocks both sides of the alley behind the restaurant. Einkor has nowhere else to run. Riga is confident Einkor will be an easy kill and this would be her first kill in the Games so she wants to put on a good show. Riga swings the butt of her spear. It hits Einkor in the side of the head and he collapses to the ground. Riga repeatedly stabs her spear into his chest and abdomen until his cannon booms.

16. Einkor Tricket, D9- stabbed in the chest and abdomen by Riga Sarnoff, D2

Water and food are becoming an issue for Naomi. She hasn't had anything since before the Games began. She crawls out of her shelter and walks the alleyways until she finds a puddle of water. The water is tepid and drips from a pipe jutting out of the side of a building. Having no other option, Naomi takes a few sips. The water makes her stomach cramp. She spends the rest of the day making deadfall traps in the hope of killing a rat.

Many other tributes are running low on supplies as well. Jeane tries to steal supplies from the Cornucopia again. She spots Brockton guarding the horn and retreats before he spots her. Cigna searches through the desks within the library and only finds a few peppermints to suck on. Mali finds the kitchen of the hotel he is in and the water still works. He discovers a pantry filled with canned vegetables and beans.

Day Five

Most of the tributes stay hidden as the day passes. The only tributes to hunt for others are the Careers and Sawyer.

Day Six

After waking up and drinking the last bit of their water, Scarlet and Kat decide to venture outside their building. They wanted to stay secluded as long as possible but they either needed to find more water or kill a tribute to gain sponsors. They look down at the Cornucopia and see that Riga is guarding the horn. They decide not to face Riga just yet and will look for tributes and supplies elsewhere. They make their way to the ground level and travel the streets in silence. Eventually, they come across a building with a broken sign that says "otel", Scarlet taps Kat on the shoulder, "I think that may be a hotel. I bet there is food or water in there." The girls try to open the front doors but they are blocked. Kat throws a chunk of concrete through a front window and the pair crawls inside. Kat notices the furniture blocking the front door, "There must be a tribute in here," she whispers. They start searching on the first floor and it does not take long to find the kitchen. Mali is sleeping on a counter and using a bag of rice as a pillow. He wakes up to the sound of the door opening and sees Scarlet and Kat. He immediately gets to his feet but is still slightly disoriented from sleep. Scarlet sprints after Mali and she shoves him to the ground. She hacks her axe into his back until his cannon booms. The girls find the pantry of food and fill their backpacks before returning to their camp.

16. Mali York, D10- axe hacked into back by Scarlet Peloton, D8

Day Seven

Early in the morning a thunderstorm rolls through the arena and lasts the whole day. The tributes scramble to find any form of basin or bowel to catch the rainwater in. Those camped in the upper parts of skyscrapers take shelter deeper within the building. Lightning, thunder, rain, and the howling wind ravish the arena until after dark.

Day Eight

Before going hunting for tributes, Riga suggests a new game plan. Instead of coming back each evening, she suggests doing two or three-day ventures so they can spend more time focused on hunting. This scenario would still leave one person to guard the Cornucopia. Riga suggests dividing up by District, but Nox quickly shuts down the idea.

"I don't want to be left behind just because my partner is gone." Nox feels as if the other Careers pair up with their partner it would not take them long to turn on the others. Nox being without a partner would be a disadvantage.

Riga isn't pleased by the suggestion, "I just thought it would be easier if we went with someone we knew well."

With that comment, Hurly speaks up, "I will stay at the Cornucopia. Riga and Darrah can go together and that leaves Nox and Brockton."

Riga does not say anything to rebuttal. The pairs pack enough supplies to last them three days and head off in separate directions.

The only interaction between tributes is when Riga and Darrah find Sawyer walking down an alley. He sees the Career girls at the same time and takes off. He doesn't want to take on two Careers at once. Darrah throws a knife but Sawyer dodges it by rolling behind an overturned car. Riga runs around the corner but Sawyer is gone. He had slipped down a side street and disappeared. It was the first time in days that the Careers had seen another tribute and they had blown their chances of getting a kill.

Day Nine

With over half the tributes still alive the Gamemakers release a horde of twenty-five zombie mutts into the arena at dawn. They are slow-moving humanoids based on prominent past tributes. They have green and decaying skin with yellow puss and ooze covering them. They are released in the southwestern corner of the arena and head north.

The first tribute to interact with the zombie mutts is Naomi. She hears movement outside her shelter. She peeks through a crack and spots the zombie mutts. She decides to stay hidden within the dumpster shelter she built. The mutts are directed towards the tributes' scents so she isn't safe. The mutts continue to walk slowly towards Noami and then they start to dig at the garbage and debris hiding her. Naomi screams and climbs her way out and starts to run away from the zombies. With Naomi in sight, the zombies start to sprint after her with incredible speed. Naomi does not run far before she starts feeling exhausted and trips over a brick in the street. The zombies dogpile her and start to bite and claw at her flesh. Noami shouts out in pain until her cannon booms. The mutts continue to eat at her flesh until she is an unidentifiable mess.

14. Naomi Churchill, D5- killed by zombie mutts

Darrah and Riga are hunting for tributes when they hear a clattering behind one of the buildings. The pair races around the street corner and is met with a horde of zombie mutts. Riga immediately turns and runs away she heads into a nearby building. Meanwhile, Darrah decides to face the mutts. She manages to kill a few but is soon overwhelmed. The mutts start to maul Darrah alive and she screams out for Riga to help her until her cannon sounds.

13. Darrah Lindelof, D4- killed by zombie mutts

Riga finds herself in a dilapidated bookstore. She tries to move a desk in front of the main doors to prevent the zombie mutts from getting inside. The mutts bang on the front door until one of them crashes through the front window. A pair of zombie mutts climb inside the shop and Riga throws a knife into the chest of one before running to the back of the store. She tries to open the back door of the building but the door is jammed. She turns to face the zombies and manages to kill two more before they overtake her.

12. Riga Sarnoff, D2- killed by zombie mutts

The zombie mutts continue traveling north until they catch the scent of another tribute. The horde crashes into the building set up with the traps from Gizmo and Teeva. The mutts set off a series of traps. Shards of glass, pieces of rebar, and pieces of cement fly through the air as the traps are released. The loud noise catches Gizmo and Teeva's attention. The pair sneaks down the stairwell and avoids their traps. They peek out from the stairwell expecting to find the Careers because they did not know of another large group of people that could have set so many traps off at once. Teeva screams at the sight of the zombie mutts. Only three mutts are still surviving and they each look straight at the District Three pair. Gizmo and Teeva sprint up the stairwell to escape. Teeva is more agile and quickly navigates her way up the stairs. Gizmo is slower and the mutts catch up to him. A zombie mutt throws Gizmo to the ground and bites his shoulder. The other two mutts begin to scratch and bite Gizmo as well. With his last bit of energy, Gizmo reaches out and pulls a trip wire. A crate of broken and sharp metal spills out on top of Gizmo and the mutts killing them all.

11. Gizmo Faraday, D3- killed by zombie mutts

Day Ten

Nox and Brockton head back towards the Cornucopia. After seeing Riga's and Darrah's faces in the sky last night, they figured they should regroup with Hurly today. Brockton debates turning on Nox but he decides against it. Something strong must have taken out Riga and Darrah and whether that was a mutt or tribute Brockton did not want to risk it alone just yet. It takes Brockton and Nox most of the day before they return to the Cornucopia. The three Careers decide not to separate yet and instead plan to rest for the remainder of the day.

Charlotte is the only tribute to actively hunt for other tributes. She believes she sees a shadow run into a building. Inside is a movie theatre and searches high and low but does not find a tribute. The stress and hunger are getting to her mind. She finds a popcorn machine with stale popcorn inside it, cases of candy, and a few bottles of soda. She decides to make the theatre her new camp.

Day Eleven

Scarlet and Kat watch from their skyscraper as the three Career boys head out in different directions to go hunting. "Do you think they split up for good, or just gone hunting," Scarlet asks.

"I don't know but if no one is guarding the Cornucopia it doesn't hurt to get new supplies from there," Kat replies.

The two girls make their way to the Cornucopia and with no one in sight, the pair starts gathering supplies. They focus on getting food, and water, and Kat grabs a first aid kit. They are stuffing their bags full when a warcry can be heard and Jeane jumps out from the side of the Cornucopia and stabs a knife into Kat's left shoulder. Kat screams in pain and falls to the ground. Jeane lands on top of her. Scarlet rushes over to help her ally, she kicks Jeane off of Kat. Jeane tries to roll to her feet but Scarelt swings her axe and it collides into Jeane's chest. Jeane falls to the ground dead. Kat cries out as she pulls the knife from her shoulder. The blade is only a few inches long and it did not seem to hit anything vital. Scarlet works fast as she tries to bandage the wound to the best of her ability. Once the bleeding slows, the duo heads back to their camp.

10. Jeane Burke, D6- axe to the chest by Scarlet Peloton, D8

Sawyer hunts for tributes and comes across a building with the front windows shattered. He enters the building and finds the first floor filled with debris. He notices black blood stains on the ground, a sign that mutts had been killed here. Sawyer suspects a tribute may still be around. He enters a stairwell to check the upper floors. He takes a few steps before hearing a click and seeing that he stepped on a trip wire. He has no time to react before a board with nails sticking out of it impales his right leg. He hollers in pain. He forces the board and the nails out of his leg and trails of blood begin to run down his leg. He stumbles out of the stairwell and uses a ripped curtain to bandage his leg. He musters enough strength to leave the building before setting up camp in a nearby alley.

Day Twelve

Another thunderstorm rolls through the arena and lasts the whole day and most of the night. Many of the tributes take the time to replenish their water supply.

Day Thirteen

After waking up the Career boys decide on a plan for the day. Nox volunteers to guard the Cornucopia while Brockton and Hurly go hunt for tributes. They decide to pack for two days and hunt separately and will meet back at the Cornucopia at the beginning of the third day. The group eats a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs before separating. Hurly heads north and Brockton goes south. Nox stays at the Cornucopia and after almost two hours he packs two backpacks filled with supplies. He makes sure he has plenty of food, water, and other supplies to last him for the remainder of the Games. He does not want to wait around at the Cornucopia. He also does not want to wait around for Brockton or Hurly to turn on him when he can strike first. After gathering plenty of supplies, Nox heads west with two packs over his shoulder and a machete in hand.

Scarlet watches as Nox leaves the Cornucopia. Kat's shoulder wound has become inflamed and leaks green pus daily. The first aid kit the pair got a few days earlier is not enough to heal the wound. Kat doesn't wish for Scarlet to risk her life for medicine but Scarlet ignores her. Scarlet makes her way to the Cornucopia and searches for any type of medicine available. Nox left the supplies in a disorganized mess. Scarlet finds a few rolls of gauze, a suture kit, and a bottle of pain medication. She searches for almost an hour but doesn't find any antibiotics. Scarlet returns to Kat feeling defeated but Kat praises her for her bravery and kindness. Scarlet attempts to suture the wound close, but Kat thrashes at the pain and the bleeding makes it difficult. Scarlet manages to partially close the wound and packs it with gauze to staunch the bleeding.

Sawyer's leg wound is not much better either. He has made camp in an apartment building. He found a bedroom that still had sheets on the bed and he used those to wrap his leg in. The metal trap had created multiple puncture wounds and scratches along his leg. He searched the apartment for any medicine but was unlucky. He lays on the bed and spends most of the day sleeping.

As for the other tributes, they remain safe in their hiding places. Charlotte is at the movie theatre and has decided to wait there for a few days since she has plenty of food and water. Teeva remains in the building that is filled with traps but has not eaten in almost a week and has decided to search for food tomorrow. Cigna also has not eaten in a long time and she has become so exhausted that even reading the books in the library is making her fatigued.

Day Fourteen

Teeva leaves the safety of her trap-fortified building in search of any food. She sneaks her way down alleys and crawls behind burnt cars and debris on the roads. She walks into an abandoned bakery. She finds a few stale sweet buns in the back room. She nibbles on the sugary treats when she hears the front door open. With no other exit hides herself in a corner between two shelves. Nox searches the front of the bakery and makes his way to the back of the building. Teeva is squatting in the corner and the two make eye contact as Nox enters the room. Teeva cries out and tries to turn away, but Nox slashes his machete into her throat. Her scream is cut short and the cannon sounds.

9. Teeva Adamus, D3- throat slashed by Nox Durant, D1

This leaves the Final Eight; Nox Durant of One, Brockton Soden of Two, Hurly Glasglow of Four, Cigna Jonas and Sawyer Holloway of Seven, Scarlet Peloton of Eight, and Charlotte Love of Ten, and Kat Mahan of Eleven.

Cigna packs two books into her backpack for future reading and leaves the library in search of a place with food. She searches the nearby buildings and does not have much luck until later in the evening. She is walking through an office building when she finds three old vending machines. One is stocked with sodas and water, another has peanut butter crackers, jerky, and other snacks, and the third is filled with candy and powdered donuts. She busts the glass and devours multiple crackers and packets of candy before finding an office to sleep in for the night.

Day Fifteen

Brockton returns to the Cornucopia around midmorning and is shocked to find Nox gone. A half-hour later Hurly walks into view. The two discuss what to do and decide to search in the nearby buildings to see if Nox has been injured and stuck there and of course do not find him. They spend the rest of the day waiting at the Cornucopia to see if he will return.

In the western part of the arena, Nox is hunting for tributes and is not planning to rejoin with Hurly and Brockton. He knows that they will be returning to the Cornucopia today and his absence will become apparent. However, he doesn't want to be surprised when one eventually turns on the other. Nox believes that going on his own now is his best bet to victory.

The remainder of the tributes stay hidden away. Charlotte remains in her movie theater and Cigna is in her office building. Both have food and water to last them at least a week. Sawyer is still healing from his leg wound. He receives a sponsor's gift of pain medication and a few pills of antibiotics but nothing life-saving. His only hope is that the rest of the tributes kill each other first. Elsewhere, Kat is in a similar situation. Her shoulder wound continues to worsen, pus drains from the gaping hole, and blackish-green streaks run from the site down her back and arm. She goes in and out of consciousness throughout the day. Scarlet knows that should put her ally out of her misery but she can't bring herself to do it.

Day Sixteen

Brockton and Hurly decide to stick together until fewer tributes remain. They are both disappointed in the fact that Nox seems to have ditched them. The pair pack their bags full of food, water, and other supplies and head south in search of tributes. They decide that they will only come back to the Cornucopia if they need more supplies. This will make it easier for them to hunt for tributes.

In the midafternoon a series of small earthquakes occur in the northern portion of the arena. There is not any significant damage done, there aren't any cracks in the earth or buildings that crumble. The only tribute near the epicenter is Charlotte. She takes the earthquakes as a sign she needs to move around more. She gathers her supplies and fills her pack with the remaining bottled water and snacks. She heads towards the center of the arena and makes a new camp in a random apartment building.

Day Seventeen

Early in the morning before daylight, Scarlet wakes up to the sound of a cannon. She rushes over to her ally and discovers that she has passed. Scarlet weeps for her friend and drags her body to an open ledge so that a hovercraft can come to pick her up.

8. Kat Mahan, D11- wound infection

The afternoon consists of more earthquakes. Each one grows in strength until an epic shift causes strong tremors to shake the whole arena. All of the buildings shake but the epicenter is focused in the northern part of the arena. Multiple buildings collapse to the ground as the sounds of metal and concrete breaking echo through the arena. Aftershocks continue until late in the night. None of the tributes were in the northern part of the arena and got hurt or killed. However, the destructive mess is almost impassable and will keep the tributes away from the area.

Day Eighteen

Brockton and Hurly hunt for most of the day but do not have any luck finding tributes. They reach near the southern border and set up camp in an apartment building on the third floor. Nox also searches for tributes without any luck. The only other tribute to hunt for tributes is Charlotte. She leaves her supplies tucked away in the apartment building but on her way back home that evening she loses her way in the dim light. Frustrated by her lack of direction she takes shelter in a partially demolished nightclub with the dance floor still intact and lounge seating surrounding it. As for the remaining tributes, Scarlet restocks some supplies from the Cornucopia but even there has become barren. Cigna has remained in her office building for days without leaving. She has set up some deadfall traps to catch the rats that run down the hallways. Sawyer remains in critical condition as his leg wound continues to become infected.

Day Nineteen

The day passes slowly without much action. Nox is the only one who actively hunts for tributes. Hurly and Brockton rest in their apartment and talk about their lives and training in their Districts. Charlotte tries to find the apartment building where she left her food and water but is unsuccessful in finding it. Cigna, Scarlet, and Sawyer all remain in place.

Day Twenty

Sawyer has barely eaten anything in over a week. Exhaustion and pain overwhelms him. He leaves the apartment building in search of any source of water, but lack of food and sleep disorients his mind. He walks around aimlessly until he passes out in the middle of the street. A few hours later, Hurly and Brockton discover Sawyer. Hurly kicks Sawyer and shouts at him. Hurly doesn't want to kill an unconscious and defenseless tribute. Sawyer only moans in pain and is unable to open his eyes. Hurly pities Sawyer and stabs his trident into his chest.

7. Sawyer Holloway, D7- stabbed in the chest by Hurly Glasglow, D4

Day Twenty-One

A heatwave passes through the arena with temperatures greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. All of the tributes stay within their shelter to try and keep cool.

Day Twenty-Two

The heatwave persists. The only tribute to move around is Nox but he does not last long before becoming exhausted in the heat.

Day Twenty-Three

The heatwaves calms and dark clouds roll through the arena around midafternoon. Hurly and Brockton are walking down a street when the first raindrops fall. Hurly is the first to notice that the drops cause a burning sensation on his scalp. Soon the droplets become a downpour and the raindrops erode the boys' skin as the run to take cover. The acid rain burns their skin and sizzles on their uniforms. Hurly leads the way to a nearby building when Brockton shoves Hurly from behind and knocks him to the ground. Hurly rolls his ankle on a rock and smacks his head against the side of a burnt-out car. He is dazed for a moment but the acidic rain continues to burn his skin. He screams in agony as the skin on his face melts and he becomes disoriented. He shouts for Brockton to help, but Brockton has already taken shelter under an awning of a flower shop. Hurly continues to scream and shout slurs until he crumbles to the ground and his cannon sounds.

6. Hurly Glasglow, D4- killed by acid rain

Charlotte hears the rainstorm from inside the nightclub and runs out into the downpour expecting refreshing rain. She raises her face to the sky and opens her mouth, and the acid rain immediately takes effect. Charlotte's eyelids melt down her face and the inside of her mouth fills with blood and she starts to choke. She crawls on the ground and tries to reach the safety of the indoors but does not make it before collapsing and her cannon sounds.

5. Charlotte Love, D10- killed by acid rain

The remaining tributes all experienced the acid rain as well. Nox gained some burns from the rain but was able to seek shelter fast enough. Scarlet tried to collect some of the rainwater through an opening in the skyscraper she was in but quickly realized the rain was acidic when the drops burnt her hands. Cigna did not even leave her office building because she still had two bottles of water remaining.

Day Twenty-Four

The day passes slowly after the excitement of yesterday. Nox heads towards the center of the arena to the Cornucopia. He knows the final days are near and wants to be prepared for anything. Brockton also starts making his way towards the center but continues to search through the buildings for tributes. Cigna and Scarlet both remain in their respective camps.

Day Twenty-Five

Nox makes it back to the Cornucopia around midday. Scarlet watches from her skyscraper and curses at the thought of him retaking the Cornucopia. She believes that she should have made that her camp and maybe she could have ambushed him. Brockton makes his way towards the Cornucopia but in one of the buildings he is searching in he finds a pack filled with water and hotdogs. He decides to make camp there before journeying the rest of the way to the Cornucopia in the morning.

At dusk, Nox is sorting the weapons in the back of the Cornucopia to pass the time when he hears footsteps outside. Cigna had traveled all day to reach the Cornucopia in hopes of having it as an advantage in the endgame. Nox silently walks along the wall of the Cornucopia and matches Cigna's steps on the outside. At the mouth of the Cornucopia, Cigna peeks around the corner and screams at the sight of Nox. She takes a few steps back in complete shock and fright. Nox lunges with his machete and impales Cigna in the chest and she dies almost instantly.

4. Cigna Jonas, D7- stabbed in the chest by Nox Durant, D1

Day Twenty-Six

At dawn, lizard mutts are released into the arena. They are six feet tall, stand on their hind legs, pale white with almost translucent skin. Their black veins can be seen under the skin. They have a large mouth with razor-sharp teeth with acidic saliva. One goes after each tribute before the finale begins. The first to encounter a lizard mutt is Scarlet. She was already heading towards the Cornucopia when she heard scuttering behind her. She raises her daggers in each hand expecting Brockton or Nox. The mutt walks out from behind a building. It waddles at a slow pace but when it spots Scarlet it starts to sprint at her at an unbelievable speed. Scarlet is shocked by the change in demeanor of the creature. It gnashes its teeth and its long black claws scratch at the air. Scarlet jumps out of reach as it slices its claws towards her. She slices a dagger across one arm swings the other dagger over her head and cuts it across the mutt's snout. It roars in pain and its saliva sprays from its mouth. Droplets pepper Scarlet's face and body and it burns her skin and clothes. She ignores the pain and ready herself for another attack. This time the mutt manages to scratch its claws across her left arm. She rolls on the ground and comes up on the back side of the mutt and she quickly stabs her daggers into the back of the mutt repeatedly. The mutt swings its tail and it knocks Scarlet to the ground, but it becomes weak as its black blood starts to puddle around its feet. The mutt staggers and stumbles to the ground. It starts to slowly crawl towards Scarlet. She decides to not waste any more energy on the mutt and instead races off towards the Cornucopia.

The next to encounter a mutt is Nox. He had already eaten a breakfast of dried fruit and jerky when the lizard mutt walked into the city square. Nox was not expecting to fight a mutt, but he had an arsenal of weapons at his disposal. The lizard mutt sprints toward Nox and he grabs a spear from the Cornucopia wall. He throws the spear and it lands in the leg of the mutt. It tumbles forward and rolls over itself giving Nox time to run over and hack his machete into its chest until it dies.

Brockton is still half asleep when he hears the hissing of the mutt. He sits up from the worn-out loveseat he was sleeping on. He hastily grabs for his sword and the door of the room is broken down by the mutt. Brockton cries out in shock as the mutt lunges at him and bites his arm. He screams in agony as the bones are crushed and his flesh is burned. Brockton stabs his sword into the belly of the mutt and it releases its grasp. The mutt staggers back and Brockton stabs his sword into the chest of the mutt and it falls dead. Blood drips down his left arm but most of the bleeding had been cauterized by the acid. Intense pain shoots through his body. He is unable to move his left hand at all. The two bones in his forearm are broken in multiple parts and the flesh is a mangled mess. He kicks apart a chair in the room and cuts the bottom half of his shirt off to make a makeshift splint. The intense pain has become a numbness and the world is spinning as he staggers his way to the Cornucopia. He will not go down without a fight.

Nox continues to wait at the Cornucopia until he spots movement down one of the streets. Scarlet jogs into the open city square and sees Nox standing at the mouth of the Cornucopia. Her heart pounds as she spots him holding a spear in one hand and a machete in the other. She ignores the pain from the mutt fight and grits her teeth before sprinting towards Nox. She grips both daggers firmly as she nears Nox. Nox stands stoically not afraid by Scarelt's advance. He aims with his spear and throws it at Scarlet. She was prepared for the attack and dodged the spear. Nox grimaces at missing the target, she's more agile than the lizard mutt. He grips his machete and charges towards Scarlet. Nox makes the first attack by hacking his machete towards Scarlet's face. Scarlet raises her two daggers and blocks the attack. The force of the impact causes her to drop her two daggers. She reaches down to grab them but Nox kicks her in the side and she tumbles to the ground. Tears stream down her eyes as Nox starts to hack into her chest with his machete until her cannon booms.

3. Scarlet Peloton, D8- machete hacked in the chest by Nox Durant, D1

It's almost four hours later when Brockton stumbles into view. His face is ashen and he holds his arm at his side. He lost his sword in his trek to the Cornucopia. His world is spinning as Nox runs towards his. Brockton mumbles something intangible before Nox slashes his machete across Brockton's throat. Blood spills out of the wound and he collapses to the ground.

2. Brockton Soden, D2- throat slashed by Nox Durant, D1

Nox raises his machete high in the sky and gives a victorious war cry.

"Congratulations, Nox Durant of District One. You are the Victor of the 95th Hunger Games!"
