Another short chapter! And posted on time!

If there was one thing lacking in this warrior ceremony, it was hearing Baypaw's new name being chanted along with hers and Honeystripe's. Of course, Springstripe knew that a medicine cat's apprenticeship was longer than a warrior's, but it wasn't until she had excitedly told her sister about the upcoming ceremony that she had truly realised. It didn't feel the same without her twin, and she remained convinced that a part of her would be incomplete until Baypaw was considered an adult too.

It worried her, that this might change something between them, so much so that right after her vigil, she let her childhood friend go into the warrior's den on his own, making a beeline for the medicine cats' den instead. Her sister was already up and about, moving remedies in seemingly purposeful patterns that Springstripe couldn't understand.

"It truly doesn't bother you?"

"Hush, don't be so loud, Pricklesong is still sleeping," Baypaw admonished her gently. "Of course I'm fine with it. We knew it was coming anyway."

"It still feels like I'm leaving you behind somehow…"

"As long as you don't plan on leaving for real-"

"Never!"

"Well, it's alright then. I wouldn't want to get behind on the latest gossip."

"Oh, yeah, listen to that! Cheetahpaw saw Mousefur and Buzzard go somewhere alone together, so she must have asked him."

"Why wouldn't he be the one to ask?"

"He's so shy, it's almost painful to watch, he never would. We should hear news soon I think."

"It might give Honeystripe ideas," her sister added slyly and an undignified squeak escaped Springstripe.

"Hm, yeah, about that…"

"Great StarClan, he already asked you, didn't he? Well, you were never ones for patience, either of you."

"I'll have you know that I didn't answer yet!"

"What? Why?"

"It just seems too easy, don't you think? Life just doesn't work like that."

"Don't pass up a good thing because it seems too good to be true, that's way too cynic of you."

Suddenly, the entrance of the den rustled and Firepaw entered, closely followed by his sister.

"Baypaw! Skypaw got stuck in brambles; I got her out but now she's scratched everywhere!"

"Come here, both of you," she answered before turning to Springstripe. "That's your cue, I think. Go to sleep and talk to him. Oh, and don't forget to tell me everything afterwards!"

Slipping quietly in the warriors' den, the light brown tabby burrowed in an empty nest next to Honeystripe and reflected on the conversation she'd just had. She threw a look at the new warrior's dark fur and closed her eyes peacefully. Springstripe really had the best sister in the whole Clan; maybe even in the whole world.

Short and sweet, as promised! See at the end of the month for the next one.
