Chapter 17
[Route 5]
The 3 trainers were currently making their way towards Saffron City and had setup camp for the night. They had stayed in Cerulean City for the rest of the day after their gym matches and left first thing this morning. Lynn made her 2 students call home before they left to talk to their parents and keep them updated on how things were going. As they walked Lynn told them about Misty going easy on Clyde and why. Clyde himself was a little dishearten hearing she went easy on and embarrassingly showed them the paper that had her phone number. Ronnie Anne was a little annoyed at hearing the young gym leader went easy on Clyde, but got revenge by teasing Clyde. Lynn meanwhile just watched on in amusement and throw in a teasing remark every now and then.
The 3 trainers were eating dinner while discussing different topics, while all their Pokemon were out and eating as well. Nidorina, Houndour, Milcery, and Oddish all sat together while Poochyena was off to the side glaring at the group. Meanwhile all of Lynn's Pokemon which included Lucario, Lycanroc, Infernape, Poliwarth, and Mienshao sat together, while Kommo-o sat by himself.
"So you want to know if there's anything to help your Pokemon learn new moves?" Lynn asked her only male student. Both younger trainers nodded in agreement. "Well I do have a TM Machine, it's a device that use discs that allows Pokemon to learn moves it might not be able to. You place it on the Pokemon, insert the disc, and the machine somehow imput the knowledge into the Pokemon. However that doesn't mean it can use it right away, you and your Pokemon still have train to use properly. I have to look at the ones I have to see if I even have any that your Pokemon can learn."
"What do you mean? Also could you do the same for me?" Ronnie Anne asked.
"I mean, a Pokemon can't learn every move" Lynn replied while taking another bite of her dinner. "A Water Type can't learn a move like Flamethrower, it's biologically impossible. So I have to see if I have any discs that either of your Pokemon can learn. I'll take a look tonight before I go to bed and if I have some, will do it tomorrow after breakfast."
Both nodded in agreement before asking another question. "Hey Lynn, I always wanted to ask where you got your Lycanroc from?" This got surprised look from Lynn, while Clyde added on.
"Yeah I was curious too, he's the only Non-Fighting Type on your team. Now that I think about it, it's the only Non-Fighting Type Pokemon you have." Both younger teens leaned forward with anticipation while the older girl let out an embarrassed laugh.
"Yeah, funny story about how I got Lycanroc" she started looking away in embarrassment, before looking back at them. "My Lycanroc is actually the son of Lincoln's Wolfsbane and my Blazikin." This got a shout of surprised from both teens, before Lynn started to explain. "It was during my first Gym Challenge in Hoenn. We almost have our eight badges and were looking forward to the tournament. Now me and Linc were doing what we are doing right now, letting our Pokemon out while we camp. They would have fun and enjoy being outside of their ball, we would let them do what they want. Then one morning we found Wolfsbane holding an egg and telling us, mostly Lincoln since I couldn't understand, that it was Blazikin's. We were both surprised and talked to Blazikin, they did have something going on, and now we had a egg that was going to be a Rockruff. Lincoln and Wolfsbane were planning on taking care of him, but when he showed interest in me and my team, we decided for me to take care of him. After we competed in the tournament he became a permanent member on my team."
Both younger trainers continue to stared in shock and awe, before they looked over at their Pokemon. "I doubt something will happen with your Pokemon this soon, but it's a good idea to keep an eye on them" Lynn told them with a small smirk. "Needless to say, after that we kept a bit of a closer eye on our Pokemon."
"How was that even possible?!" Ronnie Anne asked, try to put together how those Pokemon they had child.
"Well Pokemon breed differently then animals back home" Clyde spoke up. "Any Pokemon can breed together as long as they are in the same egg group." He saw the confused look on his friend's face and let out a sigh before explaining. "All Pokemon hatch from a egg, regardless what they are. You should've known this while studying for the test." Ronnie Anne looked away in embarrassment while Clyde shook his head.
"So why do you switch out some of your Pokemon before every gym match Lynn?" Ronnie Anne asked, getting over her embarrassment. "Poliwarth would done well against Brock and Misty, instead of Medicham and Grapploct."
"True, I have no doubt that he would've won if I used him." Lynn started to reply with a small smile. "But he's just with me to go on the journey, sure he'll battle but he just wants to see the sights instead of being stuck at the lab. It the same reason for Mienshao, although Infernape is trying to take Blazikin's spot on the team for the tournament at the end season. I wanted Grapploct to get some experience in gym battles, I didn't use Medicham for a long while and figured it was time to see if he got rusty, and I just wanted to see the faces you two would make when you saw I now had Ace." Both younger teens simply grumbled under their breaths when the saw their mentor's smug smirk and went back to eating.
