AN: Okay I just wanted to say, writing these chapters were harder for me than any of the other chapters that had battles. It was because of all the Buffs and Status Effect moves I put in these Chapters. They aren't often shown in the anime, so I had to guess at how to describe them or try based on the Games. I still will use them in future battles, but the chapters may take longer.

Chapter 22
Clyde nervously went to take the spot where Ronnie Anne was, while said girl went to stand beside their mentor. As Clyde was getting his License scanned and setting up, the 2 female trainers stood beside each other in silence. Ronnie Anne hasn't looked up after losing, clenching her teeth and balling her fists. Lynn hadn't looked in her direction, was watching her in the corner of her eyes.
"Take a deep breath, hold it in, then release it and repeat" Lynn told her female student. Ronnie Anne was startled by her sudden speaking, but realized what she was telling her to do. After doing what she was told and calming down, she looked to her seeing her teacher watching her from the corner of her eyes. "You lost, but you didn't do too bad since you were coming in with a disadvantage. A Poochyena that won't listen to you, a Houndour that you're still building a bond with, and Nidorina that is weak against Psychic Types. With this team you've almost taken down two of her team, I doubt many new trainers could do that with that kind of team. Remember today so you can be prepared for the next time you face her, but right now you need to support McBride. He looks like he's going to pass out on his feet." Ronnie Anne looked at him and saw what she was talking and started cheering trying to psych him up.
"This is an official match between Sabrina of the Saffron City Gym and Clyde McBride from Royal Woods. Both trainers will be able to use three Pokemon, with only the challenger being able to switch out Pokemon. The battle is over when all of someone's Pokemon is unable to battle or one forfeits. The match begins now."
"You're up Oddish!" Clyde shouted, releasing his starter Pokemon.
"Go Slowpoke" Sabrina said, sending out the pink and blank staring Pokemon. "Start with Trick Room" Slowpoke's eyes started glowing before encasing the whole battlefield in a dome of energy.
"Hit it with Poison Powder!" Clyde order. Oddish released the familiar purple powder and covered his opponent with it.
"Now use Zen Headbutt" the Dopey Pokemon then charged at its opponent hitting him with the psychic headbutt. However it was also taking damage from the Poison Powder.
"Use Mega Grain!" Oddish nodded and started taking life and energy from Slowpoke and healing some of the damage.
"Use Disable and then Healing Pulse" the gym leader ordered. Slowpoke's eyes glowed briefly before its body started glowing and healing.
"Use Sunny Day followed by Razor Leaf!" The Weed Pokemon created a medium ball of light that floated above the battlefield. He then fired leafs at his opponent stopping him from healing.
"Use Ice Beam" Slowpoke opened its mouth and shot the beam, unfortunately Oddish was able to dodge it.
"Now finish it with Solarbeam!" The leaves on Oddish's head glowed brightly, before he shot a bright beam.
"Use Yawn" Sabrina ordered before the beam fired. Slowpoke managed to get the Yawn out before getting hit with the Solarbeam and being knocked out. Clyde and Ronnie Anne didn't notice this, but Lynn had.
"Slowpoke is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Oddish." Clyde let out a sigh of relief before he started celebrating his victory, Ronnie Anne was loudly cheering, and Lynn was clapping with a small smile. Suddenly Oddish started to glow and light covered his body. When the light faded, everyone saw that Oddish had evolved into Gloom. Clyde was stunned at first, but when his brain finally rebooted he ran to Gloom and congratulated him while hugging him. Both Ronnie Anne and Lynn started congratulating on the sidelines, before the referee coughed to get their attention and reminded them the match was still going. Clyde apologized and returned to his proper spot.
"Go Jynx" Sabrina said, sending out the Human Shape Pokemon. "Use Hail" Jynx nodded and clouds covered the ceiling and removed Sunny Day. Hail then started to fall from the clouds onto the battlefield.
Clyde and Gloom were slightly taken aback by this, but shrugged it off. "Gloom use Poison Powder!" Gloom cried out in agreement, before falling asleep. "What?! Gloom, wake up! Why did you suddenly fall asleep?"
"Slowpoke managed to get off a Yawn before you knocked it out" Lynn answered the young boy's question.
"Yawn?" Ronnie Anne asked her, confused.
"Yawn is a move that will put its opponent asleep" Lynn started to explain. "It's a delayed move, meaning the Pokemon won't fall asleep right away but a minute or two after the move move was used."
"Use Ice Beam," the psychic gym leader ordered. Jynx shot the beam from her mouth, hitting Gloom pushing him back and waking him up. Both Pokemon and trainer know the hail that is falling is doing damage.
"Now that you're awake, use Poison Powder!" Gloom nodded and started to release the powder from the blooming flower on his head.
"Use Powder Snow" Jynx then released a gust of wind and snow, blowing away Gloom attack and hitting him. The attack was strong enough to freeze Gloom. Clyde, not knowing what to do, tried to shout encouragement hoping he would break free. "Finish this with Confusion" Jynx hit him with a blast of psychic energy, defrosting Gloom and knocking him out.
"Gloom is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Jynx." Clyde thanked his Gloom for all his hard work before recalling him, Ronnie Anne was now getting worried now that Clyde's strongest Pokemon was out, and Lynn let out a sigh of registration knowing how this match was going to end.
"It's your turn, Milcery!" Clyde shouted, sending out the Cream Pokemon. "Use Dazzling Gleam!" Milcery understood and used the Fairy move, hitting her opponent but not doing that much damage. Meanwhile Hail was still going and damaging Milcery.
"Use Sweet Kiss" Sabrina commanded. Jynx got close and kissed the Cream Pokemon, causing her to become confused.
"This isn't good, use Sweet Kiss as well!" Milcery nodded and attempted to, but stumbled and hurt herself.
"Use Sing" the Human Shape Pokemon started to sing. Clyde, Ronnie Anne, and Lynn felt a bit drowsy, but shook it off. Milcery however couldn't and fell asleep. Clyde stood in silence, not knowing what to do in this situation again. "Use Psychic"Jynx then started to repeatedly lift and slam her opponent into the ground. Milcery woke up after the first one, but couldn't do anything, being trapped in the Psychic attack. With the Hail and Psychic attacks, it was too much and Milcery fainted.
"Milcery is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Jynx." Clyde then told the referee that he didn't have any more Pokemon. The referee nodded and held his hand on Sabrina's side up in the air. "Since the challenger has no more Pokemon, Gym Leader Sabrina is the winner of the match." Clyde looked down in disappointment after recalling Milcery, Ronnie Anne had a sadden expression, and Lynn could only let out a sigh.
"You will not be receiving the Marsh Badge, but you are able to try again another day" Sabrina told her young opponent. She then turned around and walked away. Lynn gathered up her students and they made their way back to the pokecenter.
