The last time she was here, this city beside their little corner of the sea, it had been full of people and animals and life. Every time she remembers the food, the sounds, and the smells, there's a tug at her heartstrings. And now that she's standing in the streets once more, she realizes her memories are nothing compared to the real thing.
This city called Mellowbrook.
For some reason her heart's racing, and Kaia wonders if it's the feeling of doing something forbidden once more.
Jazlee waves her hand in a sweeping arch, glancing around to make sure no once's noticed the subtle use of siren magic, and gives Kaia a meaningful look. The last time they were here, they weren't careful, and Jazlee's sure that's why the other mermaids and sirens were watching them so closely for so long.
Kaia likes to think she would've used her mermaid magic during this trip to keep them hidden anyways, but the truth is she's looking for someone. She doesn't know who, only that she'll know once she finds them and that it's important they see her.
Even though she knows it will ruin her.
After all.
She's always been too curious for her own good.
