Jazlee doesn't know if she's ever felt so exhausted before.

She's spent the past few trying to prevent humans from paying too much attention and keeping Kaia away from any males by focusing on food and trinkets, but it's taking so much energy and it feels like her magic isn't replenishing as quickly as before.

Part of her thinks it's because she's constantly casting spells.

Another part thinks it's because they didn't wait until the Blue Moon.

Then there's the part of her that suspects they're literally losing their magic.

Her dreams are still filled with boyish grins and a name that's just out of reach. She wakes up irritable and tired and on the verge of tears, but she only has a couple more days before this living nightmare is over.

(Another setback for not waiting is a mere seven sunsets on land, if the legends are to be believed.)

(She doesn't. She does. She's not sure anymore.)

Jazlee can't afford to be anything less than painstaking vigilant, but what exhausts her the most is that for a brief moment, when she was asked that gods dammed question once more, she thought "I won't let him hurt her again".
