He's been looking around for days (trying to find some sort of clue that he's not crazy for thinking he saw Jackie and Kendall) when he finds the dagger.

It's a beautiful blend of gold and silver with jewels representing the phases of the moon on the cross-guard. And he swears its magic, with the light of the setting sun glittering off it just so; magic that makes the gems shimmer and the metal glow and calls out to him-

Gunther jerks away in horror when he realizes he was reaching for it. Maybe this thing really is magic, but the kind that's meant to entrap and possibly curse him. He wonders if there's a way to take it without activating anything when he hears two voices approaching, both achingly familiar and yet… not. Panic fills him and he hides within the bushes before realizing he should warn them away from the dagger.

Something makes him hesitate, then he slowly looks through the leaves.

What he sees is impossible. Because both his beloved and his friend are alive and right in front of him.

And yet they're not.

It's not something he can explain, let alone put into proper words, but… there's just something both achingly familiar and yet off about them.

Gunther can feel the moment his heart stops when the woman who looks like Kendall takes the dagger and stabs one of her thighs, collecting her blood before the wound heals. The women work in tandem, using the blood to draw runes upon the earth and placing stones at certain points, working on their magic circle from the inside out.

Once they finish, they stand in the center and look towards the setting sun as the brunette takes a deep breath. She starts singing in an unknown language, the words melodious and enchanting, and causes a surge of energy that lights the magic circle and makes Gunther's hair stand on end.

Her song rises as the sun slowly lowers, until finally it leaves the sky in a brilliant flash of light that nearly blinds him. It takes him a moment to realize it's far too quiet, but when he does, he opens his eyes to an empty clearing.
