Jazlee hasn't tried signing since bewitching the male-turned-female, but sometimes she wants to. Yet the impulse is pushed back every time she sees a man with yellow hair, sitting against her favorite tree. He visits often, quelling her bitterness and keeping her silent.

Sometimes he looks thoughtful. Others annoyed. And then there are times he looks troubled, as if he carries a great burden upon his shoulders. But always the nights after he visits are the ones where she's able to sleep. It takes her a single moon cycle to realize this, but the dreams that haunt her even during the day are absent, as if chased away by the peace he brings her.

It's odd, she thinks, that this human man could bring such stillness to the chaos of her soul. If anything, she should be luring him to the water, pulling him out to sea until he's dragged beneath the waves with no hope of reaching the surface. Less than six moon cycles ago she would have; she'd been willing to do so whenever she saw a fair-haired male during her time on land. And yet she can't.

Jazlee doesn't understand why this man makes her feel this way, or how she knows that if Kaia sees him… well, she tries not to think about that.

She makes it a bit of a game, trying to guess which days he'll be there. She hides in the trees and uses just a touch of siren magic to keep herself hidden from human eyes. Majority of the time she's right, and she watches as the fading sun colors his hair and highlights his eyes.

She could spend hours watching him.

One day she arrives late, and she's startled to realize he's not alone.

She feels something inside her fracture.

The violent flare of magic she releases creates a tempest to rival that of the gods. But it's not anger that drives this storm. It's fear.

Because this female will lure him away. She'll convince him to leave and never come back. She'll keep him all to herself and Jazlee will be left with her nightmares and bitterness and she can't- she can't-!

(I won't become a woman who suffers in silence)

She starts to sing, and the melody is unlike anything she's ever heard before. Distantly she realizes that it's something hauntingly beautiful, but any thoughts are secondary to making sure he stays.

"Gunther! Gunther, come on!" The female yanks his arm, but he is unmovable, "Look, I know you don't like me but we can't stay here!"

For the first time since she woke up on the rocky outcrop, Jazlee's voice falters. The man, Gunther, blinks as if he's waking from a dream, but it only lasts a moment before he looks to where she's hidden.

His eyes (like a Viking's) meet hers, and it's as if everything is gone, as if only the two of them remain. It feels like an eternity passes before his face sets into a grim expression and gives her a curt nod, pulling his arm away from the female as he runs from the sea.
