The Republic fleet is on the defensive and pushed to the brink! As war rages in the much contested Outer Rim Territories, chaos and fear mount as the Separatist army wages an epic battle against heavily outnumbered Republic ships. In the far reaches of the Quell system, Anakin Skywalker, his Padawan Ahsoka, John, Ash, May, and Max race across the galaxy to aid Jedi Knight Aayla Secura who is in the midst of a fight for her life as the sinister droid army closes in...
"Our shields are gone!" Shouted a Bridge Clone trooper on Master Secura's venator as her other ships were destroyed. Her V-Wings fought to defend the venator as she said, "Hurry, Skywalker and Bertrand. We're depending on you two." On his ship, Anakin looked out the window with Admiral Yularen and John before the ship exited Hyperspace and Anakin said, "Prepare the gunships." Then John contacted Ash and said, "Ash take down their engines, this is a battle no battledroids get taken." Ash acknowledged John as they entered the battle.
Back with Secura, the Separatists' ships continued their attack as the commanding droid, a masculine-programmed T-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid called TF-1726, said, "We have them now. Send in the Super Droids." as an Airlock opened up and Super Battle droids came out with rocket packs built into their bodies, they flew towards Aayla's ship, some getting hit while on the way down. On the bridge, Aayla saw her ship being boarded and told her Clone commander, CC-5052 also known as Bly, "Commander! Get out there and stop those droids!"
"I'm on it!" he replied as he ran off the bridge and Super Battle Droids entered through holes in Aayla's Venator. Back on Anakin's Venator, he, Ahsoka, John, May, Max, Rex, Nitro, and their clones boarded Gunships ready to assist Aayla as Anakin said, "we're ready Admiral." Anakin's Venator raced to assist Aayla. Back on her ship, Aayla was told by another clone, "General, Skywalker's here." she then said, "And none too soon. We're entering the Atmosphere." stopping above her Venator, the side hangar doors opened up and allowed the gunships to fly out and down to Aayla's ship.
As the gunships got closer, some super Droids turned around and attacked them and one Pilot shouted, "Rocket droids incoming!" They defended themselves as Anakin said, "Those droids are boarding Aayla's ship." John wanted to make a smart ass comment, but chose not to. He then said, "Meet you guys down there!" John then jumped and hopped onto a Rocket Droid as another one landed on the top of the gunship to try and kill the pilot. Anakin said, "Take care of that clanker, I'll be on board Aayla's cruiser."
"Master, are you sure that's the wisest thing-" was all Ahsoka could say before her master hopped onto a Rocket Droid himself and used it to take down some other rocket droids. Back on the gunship, the Rocket Droid that landed on it took the Canopy off and opened fire at the pilot, but he got out and was saved by Ahsoka and Rex. John forced the Rocket Droid he was riding through a hole and blocked several blaster bolts from Rocket Droids already on the ship while slicing them in half. Soon Anakin joined him and the two began cutting their way through the Rocket Droids.
Back on the gunship, with no one to control it, Rex said to ahsoka, "Hey Kid…" but Ahsoka said, "I know, I know! I'm hanging on!" as the gunship crashed right through the hole the Rocket Droids were using to get in. They all jumped out of it and ran after Anakin and John while one clone got killed. Back on the Droid command ship, TF-1726 said, "This is taking too long. Destroy that cruiser." A B1 battle droid looked at TF-1726 and said, "But sir, there are still hundreds of droids on board!" TF-1726 simply said, "I don't care!" and the B1 battle droid said, "Roger, roger." as he looked at his monitor and the guns on the ship increased in firepower. Doing more damage to Aayla's venator.
Back on the Venator, John and Anakin were cutting down Rocket Droids as their fellow Jedi and their clone troopers arrived as Aayla and Bly were saved by them. Aayla looked at them and said, "Nice entrance, Skywalker, Bertrand. How do you two plan on getting us out of this mess?" as she reflected droid blaster bolts. John told her, "Well Master Secura, I have a ship docking in the lower hangar as we speak." As they ran, a Consular-class cruiser entered the Venator's Lower hangar and one Clone Pilot said, "Activate Docking Port." and the other one said, "On it." rounding a corner, the Jedi and Clones ran into one B1 Battledroid and it said, "Uh, Hold it." as it raised its blaster at them. Anakin smirked and ignited his lightsaber but other battledroids appeared and the first one said, "Ah, Ha-ha!" making the Jedi deflect their blaster bolts while running down a corridor to the lower Hangar.
"We made it!" said Ahsoka while extending the Gangway to the Republic Frigate as explosions soon filled the hallways, killing clones and Droids alike. Anakin and John looked and Anakin shouted, "It's too late!" and the two Jedi force pushed their friends into the Republic Frigate as Ahsoka and May shouted, "Master!" while the doors closed. Quickly turning to the other side to try and hold back the explosion, it overwhelmed the two and injured them both.
"Don't move the ship!" Shouted Ahsoka into her comm unit as one clone pilot asked if they were alright. May tried to get the doors to open to get her Master and Anakin. They looked in and saw the two injured Jedi out cold so they cut a hole in the door to drag the two Jedi out with help from Aayla and Max. getting them both on the frigate, Bly closed the connection doors and ran to turn on the deflector shields while Aayla's ship was slowly torn apart. After a few moments, the Frigate was able to get away as Admiral Yularen said to Aayla, "You'll never be able to dock with our ship in the middle of this battle."
"We have no choice, Admiral. General Skywalker and General Bertrand's conditions may be critical. We must get them on board The Resolute." Admiral Yularen asked if all Jedi were so reckless, and Master Secura said, "Just the good ones." Meanwhile, May used what she was taught to help her master heal faster while the frigate moved to dock with The Resolute. Outside the ship, Vulture Droids made a pass on them and damaged the frigate, which accidentally activated the ship's hyperdrive.
"The hyperdrive's been activated." Bly said to his Jeid commander as the frigate continued to dock. She said to shut it down, but Bly said that he couldn't. On the Resolute, Admiral Yularen asked Aayla what was going on and she told him, "We're going into hyperspace. Detach! Detach!" a clone on the Resolute looked at Admiral Yularen and Ash and he said to them, "They'll take us with them." that made Admiral Yularen and Ash both shout, "EVASIVE MANEUVERS!" Soon the frigate was able to detach right before it entered hyperspace to who knows where. Back on the Resolute, Admiral Yularen said, "Plot every course along their last known trajectory. We need to finish this battle and find them!" Then Ash said, "I got a more personal stake in this matter. Dawn will kill me if John goes missing again."
On the Damaged ship, May and Ahsoka were in the Infirmary with their masters as May healed John some more as Aayla came in and told Ahsoka that she needed the Padawan to be on the bridge with Commander Bly. But Ahsoka said, "I should stay. Commander Bly doesn't need my help. Anakin does." Soon John groaned as May was happy her master was ok as Aayla said to Ahsoka, "You can help Anakin by getting this ship to safety." John sat up and said to Ahsoka, "Ahsoka…" Ahsoka and Aayla looked at the Jedi from the future when Commander Bly opened the door with his helmet off and he said, "General Secura, ah General Bertrand. We have a problem." when Aayla asked Commander Bly what the problem was, he said to the, "In our haste to escape, the navicomputer's coordinates were inputted incorrectly. And well, we're headed right for a star." John sat up and said, "We need to shut down all power systems, including life support i'm afraid, to reset the navicomputer, that will bring us out of hyperspace." Ahsoka protested but Aayla told her, "I don't like it anymore than you do, but it's a risk we're going to have to take."
At the bridge, Rex was trying to work on the navicomputer when Bly, Ahsoka, Aayla, Max, and John all came in with May remaining in the infirmary to help keep Anakin stable. Ahsoka got the primary power as Bly said, "Cutting it awfully close." Aayla was ready to shut off the auxiliary power. John had Max help him stand straight as he said, "shut the power down on my mark. Three…, two…. One! NOW!" and they shut down all power, which brought them out of hyperspace. They saw the star and it was a big one as Bly shouted, "we're out of hyperspace. TURN THE POWER BACK ON!" But before Aayla could Rex was thrown into her by the speed they were going, but both John and Max used the force to push the switch up and turned the power back on. They then rounded the star before Ashoka said, "Well, we're not going to crash into the star, but we're definitely going to hit that planet."
"May, get Anakin out of the medical room now!" John shouted into his communicator to May as they entered the planet's atmosphere. An explosion outside the ship rocked them as an engine flew off the ship right before it crashed into the ground and slid across the field. After the ship came to a halt, Rex kicked a door off and the clones got out followed by the Jedi right before the ship blew up. May helped Ahsoka carry Anakin as Max was helping John out and Aalya said, "Well, we made it. And Master Skywalker is still alive." John nodded his head, looked at Ahsoka and said, "On my planet we have a saying, "Any landing you can walk away from, is a good landing." Ahsoka, Bly, you both had a good landing, you worked hard to…" He groaned before continuing "... get the ship down so we can get out safely. Be proud of yourselves today." Ahsoka nodded and said to the Jedi masters, "I'm just glad he wasn't awake to see THAT landing." John told her, "He would have been proud Ahsoka, I know I am." Aayla agreed with him as did the others. Ahsoka then said she certainly perfected the art of demolishing ships and almost getting her master killed.
Later in the day, the survivors were setting up camp by the crash site. A fire was started and shelter was made for Anakin as he was still unconscious. John was feeling better thanks to May using the force to heal him earlier as Rex, Bly, Cameron, Lucky, Flash, Nitro, Grounder, and Grant were watching the perimeter. Aayla told them Anakin didn't have much time and that they needed to find help tonight. Ahsoka agreed and said, "Ok, you and Bly go south. Rex and I will stay here with Anakin." John limped over and said, "No Ahsoka, we all go in one group. As Master Secura will agree with me. In order to get help quickly, we must work together." Ahsoka tried to protest, saying that she couldn't leave him and she said that she knew if she was hurt, anakin would never leave her behind.
"Ahsoka, we both know this is hard, but Anakin has to stay behind, we need to go now. May has done all she can and there's nothing more we can do for him." John said as he put a hand on her shoulder. Ahsoka looked down as Aayla said, "we must do all that we can to get off this planet. As a Jedi, it is your duty to do what is best for the group." That was when John said, "Not to mention that me and Nitro will be here along with Rex." Ahsoka sighed and nodded her head as Commander Bly said, "General Secura look." and he handed her what looked like tree bark with carvings in it as he said, "we're not the only ones on this planet. There has to be some kind of something here."
Just then, there was a low roaring from the tall grass, putting the survivors on edge. Commander Bly then looked at his Jedi General and said, "If you don't mind me asking, General Secura,, where exactly are we going?" and she said, "to go find the people who live on this planet." and when Bly asked where were they going to find them, pointing out they had no idea where they were, John said, "Look for giant trees. You will find answers there." Ahsoka looked at it and said, "He's right, based on the carving here, giant trees are our best bet." she then put the carving in her backpack before walking to Anakin and said, "Be strong, Master, just a little bit longer. Rex will watch over you." Then John said, "my leg injury will slow the group down so I will stay as well. Nitro too" Aayla then said that it was time to go, before Rex said, "Don't worry, kid. I'll take good care of him." Nitro walked over and said, "we both will." Ahsoka nodded, stood up and walked away as Aayla told Rex to keep his locator on and that they should be back by daybreak with whoever or whatever lives on the planet. Rex nodded his head in acknowledgement as he said, "Got it General Secura."
"Take care you two, watch over the clones." John toldMay and Max. May and Max nodded their heads and they, along with Aayla, Ahsoka, Commander Bly, Grounder, Grant, Cameron, Lucky, and Flash all moved out to find whoever made the carving as Rex, Nitro, and John stayed with Anakin to watch over him. After running they began walking as Aayla told Ashoka that she sensed that she was still worried for Anakin. Ahsoka said, "It's just… I get so confused sometimes. It's forbidden for Jedi to form attachments, yet we are supposed to be compassionate."
"It's nothing to be ashamed of Ahsoka, I went through the same process with my own master." May told her. Ahsoka looked at her and said, "Really? You?" May nodded her head as Aayla said, "And I have as well. He was like a father to me. I realized that for the greater good, I had to let him go. Don't lose a thousand lives just to save one." Ahsoka looked at Aayla and said, "Maybe. But that doesn't mean that I can't try to save his life." Back at the crash site, as night fell, Rex and Nitro stood by the shelter Anakin was in as John tended to the fire. Rex was checking his weapon as Nitro looked around. John was looking around as well as he sensed more than just the four of them in the area.
"Rex, Nitro, be on guard. We're being watched." John said as he slowly stood up. Rex and Nitro looked at each other but knew better than to question a Jedi General so they got their weapons ready. Meanwhile with Aalya's group, they had just arrived at the giant trees, getting to the base, Bly said, "I don't see any signs of life." That was when noises of something falling were heard and the Jedi saw a giant seed pod falling, and Commander Bly was in the impact spot. Aayla shouted, "Watch out!" as she pushed him out of the way. Then more pods landed around them, making the group take cover.
"No wonder it's deserted. It's a death trap. You'd have to be crazy to want to dodge those on a daily basis." Ahsoka said out of shock and panic. Then Max knelt down, looking at the ground, before he said, "Master Secura, look here. It looks like someone or something intelligent enough to figure out a use for the pods has dragged several in this direction. We follow the trail we may be able to find help for Anakin." Aayla told him good job and then she said, "Let's go." before leading the group in following the dragmarks to whoever or whatever made them.
Back at the crash site, Rex, Nitro, and John watched the tall grass as one of the creatures watching them began to growl. John then saw the creature and said, "That's right, we're on Maridun." Nitro looked at his Jedi Commander and asked, "So?" John looked at him and said, "Maridun is home of different species. One of which is watching us. Mastiff phalones, carnivores. They're a non-sentient species of avian quadrupeds. Oh Karrablast, Aayla and her team are in danger… LOOK OUT!" The clones and John saw a Mastiff phalone charging them and got Nitro's arm and dragged him towards the grass. John used the force to drag both Nitro and the Mastiff phalone back and Rex was able to get a shot and kill it. Nitro stood up and said, "Thank you sir, Rex." John and Rex both nodded their heads and John used the force to lift the body up and throw it into the grass.
"Hopefully that will keep them away long enough for Aayla and her team to get back." John said to the clones as Anakin stirred awake. John knelt down and said, "Easy Anakin, you need to rest. Save your energy." Anakin wanted to protest but soon fell back to sleep. Meanwhile, three Mastiff phalones attacked the group and the group were able to kill one of them, but not before they killed Lucky, Cameron, and Flash. May said a small prayer before Aayla said, "we have to keep moving." the others nodded and ran, following the trail as the sun rose. Reaching the top of a small hill, they saw a bunch of Pods upright and Ahsoka said, "Pod Central, good call Master Max." the Jedi and clones then slid down the hill and walked into the makeshift town filled with small furry creatures that May said, "wow, Lumians. Never thought I'd see a real life one." Max nodded his head as what looked like the village elder walked up to them and he said, "What have you come here for?"
"We are peacekeepers. We are Jedi from the Galactic Republic. Our ship crashed a few miles away, and one of us is badly injured. We need your help." The Elder told them, "Violence breeds violence. Jedi are no peacekeepers." Aayla, Ahsoka, May, and Max all looked down at their lightsabers as they knew that was what he was referring to before Ahsoka stepped forward and said, "we're fighting for Freedom." the Elder asked, "And freedom and peace require fear and death?" the jedi looked at each other as the elder continued, "We colonized this system to find solace from your wretched war. We came here to find peace. You must leave. You will only destroy what small amount of peace is left in the galaxy. You will only bring the destruction of us."
"Regardless of the Clone Wars and our part in them, we still need your help." Max said as he walked forward a few steps. The elder said that he was afraid he must do what was best for his people and they cannot help them. Ahsoka, fearing Anakin's life might be in danger, pleaded with the elder to at least give them medical supplies, she mentioned that her friend was dying. Feeling for Ahsoka, the elder motioned another Lumen towards him and told them, "I cannot ignore a plea for help. I will send my son Wag Too to help your friend. He is a healer. But only three Jedi may go with him." May immediately stepped forward and said, "I'll stay Master Secura." but Aayla shook her head and said, "No, your masters need all three of you, I will stay, along with Bly." but The elder said the clones had to leave too.
"Ahsoka, be mindful of your surroundings, Padawan. Those creatures…" Aayla said to Ahsoka before Max said, "Mastiff phalone" Aayla nodded her head and continued, "Are still out there." Ahsoka nodded her head and said, "Got it." before she, May, Max, the Clones, and Wag Too ran back to the crash site with Wag too turning into a ball to roll fast. As the group ran back to the crash site, Aayla was given something to drink that would help her regain her energy by the elder who was called Tee Watt Kaa. She told him, "I'm sure you are aware that the Jedi did not initiate the Clone Wars. Our only intention is to end it and restore peace to our galaxy."
From the doorway, Tee Watt Kaa turned to Aayla and asked, "What difference does it make who started the war and who only wants to end it? No side is free of fault. It takes two to fight." Aayla then asked him, "But isn't Liberty worth fighting for?" Tee walked closer as he asked, "But is it worth killing for? Fighting for something doesn't necessarily mean you have to destroy everything in your path. Only when you lay your arms down and pursue a course of nonviolence can you make this claim to me that the Jedi are Peacekeepers." As Aayla absorbed the information, Ahsoka, Max, May, Wag too, and the clones hurried back to the crash site.
At said crash site, John, Rex, Nitro, and a stubborn Anakin were all standing, facing down several Mastiff phones, with the Jedi using the force to push the creatures back as Rex and Nitro shot at them. One charged at them and pushed through Rex and Anakin, injuring Rex as the others arrived. Wag Too took a rope he had on him and wrapped it around one of the creature's legs and then all four before he began to pull. John, May, and Max all helped him and it got the Mastiff phalone to fall onto its side and Wag Too to tie it up while Ahsoka checked on her master. Anakin smiled and said in a strained voice, "Good to see you, Snips."
"This is Wag Too. He's a healer. He can make you well again." Ahsoka said as he introduced her master to Wag Too. Wag Too then said, "Don't you worry. I can fix you right up." Anakin nodded his head before May walked over to Rex and using the force, healed his injury. They then made the trip back to the village where Aayla waited for them with Anakin on a stretcher. Aayla walked up to them as Tee Watt was surprised they came back with his son. Other villagers gathered around Anakin, and when he came to, he said, "Um… Snips?" John chuckled and bowed to Tee Watt. Later, Wag Too had Anakin laying in his healing room as he said, "The Oil from the pods will aid in the healing Process." Applying some of the Oil to fabric, Wag Too applied it to Anakin's face and chest before he said, "Don't worry. You'll be well in no time." John walked in and said, "impressive Wag Too. You said the oil from the pods helps right?" Wag Too nodded his head and John said, "I see. This could potentially help with any injuries when a bacta tank is unavailable." Tee Watt walked in and said, "You seem different than the other Jedi. how is it so?" John sighed and said, "Well, it's a very long story."
Meanwhile, Ahsoka sat with Aayla and May and she said, "You were right, Master Secura, Master May." When Aayla asked what they were right about, Ahsoka said, "If I had stayed with Anakin, we probably wouldn't have found this village in time to save him." She then stood up and said, "At least this whole ordeal is over now." May and Aayla stood up as well and May said, "For now. Now we just need a way to get off this planet." Ahsoka then said that she was sure that Admiral Yularen and the Republic Fleet were looking for them. May nodded her head and said, "Not to mention Ash and our legions."
Aayla, Ashoka, and May all nodded their heads before they headed into the village to check in on Anakin. Unbeknownst to them, a separatist ship was on its way to Maridun, the Clone Wars has made its way to the planet.
