The Viking, Gunther, has been coming by daily. Searching the trees and water and Jazlee just knows he's looking for her.
It both warms her heart and makes her wary.
She wishes she could tell Kaia, who's always so curious and outgoing and asks more questions than Jazlee knows that to do with. Together, maybe, they could figure this out. Because Kaia is determined and relentless in her pursuit of knowledge and doesn't stop until she has all the answers. Honestly, sometimes Jazlee feels like she could pull her own feathers out from exasperation. But at the same time, she feels such an overwhelming rush of fondness because Kendall's always been like that.
Jazlee blinks. There… there was something wrong with that last thought… but that can't be right because Kaia really is persistent when she wants to learn something and yet Jazlee loves her anyways.
She goes over her thoughts once more before shrugging them away; she's been very stressed lately which has made her very distant, and Kaia's must've noticed because she's being distant too, giving Jazlee the space she craves.
But at the same time, it's a little frustrating because Jazlee needs her best friend and yet can't really tell her what's going on, because how is she supposed to explain everything? The dreams, the voices, the magic, and the Viking (Gunther) especially when she doesn't have any actual information other than her feelings?
And because she seems to enjoy putting herself in difficult situations, Jazlee's stuck using her strongest spells to keep him from finding her, with no one to talk too, as she watches him search day after day, night after night, never interacting, never speaking.
How funny, that just a week ago she had vowed to never become a woman who suffered in silence.
But she ignores that, because she's had too many outbursts lately, and she would rather focus on wondering why it sometimes looks like the Viking, Gunther, is speaking and yet his voice can never reach her.
