Prologue

Gringotts. The long-standing territory of the Goblins and their seat of power. The Wizarding Bank is run by the goblins who manage the economy of the entire Wizarding World.

From the Ancient and Most Noble and Powerful families to the newly entering Wizards and Witches, the goblins were the ones you need to consult if it is anything related to finances.

They certainly did not earn their sovereignty just like that. Years of bloodshed was what brought these rights to them. The bloody Goblin Rebellion was a very important aspect of the Wizarding World history.

The majestic white marble building stood tall and proud in the centre of the busy shopping district of Diagon Alley. The huge building was a sight to behold. Awe. That was what was felt by anyone who ever set their eyes on the building. Be it old Purebloods who were regulars to the Bank or the fresh blood that were entering the Wizarding World for the first time with their muggle parents.

The Goblin Guards stationed at the Bank felt the wards around them crackle. The guards were on alert in an instant. Wards were another thing apart from combat and money and finances that the goblins prided themselves upon.

They were recruited and paid very well by many old families to ward their family manors for their safety. Suffice to say, the Goblin created wards were not something to sneeze at. They took pride in the strength of those wards and breaking such wards around their bastion was a huge insult to their knowledge.

The Goblin warriors in the bank braced themselves for an attack on their bank, but imagine their surprise when two human bodies crashed in their main hall.

The Goblins closed down their offices and lobbies as the people who were stopped at the entrance wondered what happened.

Two higher-ups in the Goblin territory made their way to the two fallen bodies that by some miracle had fallen in front of their office. They thought that the two were killed by the wards. The rest of the goblins had stepped back allowing access to the two

"Who are they?" A very old looking goblin asked a younger one that was inspecting the two of the new arrivals.

" I don't know, Snaggletooth." The younger goblin growled. "But we have bigger things to worry about." The young goblin snapped.

"Centuries old wards. How in the name of Gringots did these two bypass our wards?"

"I am as curious as you are, Bearclaw."

The older goblin replied calmly as he pointed toward the male figure who had three rings on his finger. Their subject of interest was the first two that adorned his finger.

The young goblin could only gape at the sight. "Impossible."

"I assure you that it should have been, but it doesn't seem to be." The old goblin hummed.

The two watched the male stir softly and groan as he sat up.

"What hit me?" He questioned himself, rubbing his head, as he stirred.

He looked around and frowned at his surroundings before his eyes fell upon the two goblins.

"Oh! he exclaimed as he stood up immediately and bowed respectfully.

"Mr Snaggletooth. Greetings."

The old goblin was surprised. He was more than a hundred percent sure that he had never seen the young man in his one hundred and forty-five years of life. He did resemble a client of his, but he was yet to place how that was possible.

"Forgive me, my child. But how did you recognise me? I am pretty sure I am seeing you for the first time."

The boy glared at the goblin.

"Don't joke with me, Mr Snaggletooth. I am pretty sure that you just met me three days ago." He huffed.

"I am sorry, my child. But I am telling the truth. And by any chance, do you know who that is?" He pointed to another fallen figure who was still out cold behind them.

"Greengrass?" He asked aloud.

What was she doing in his account manager's office?

The girl had been injured as he could see various cuts accumulated on her body.

He then glanced down at himself when he felt a pain erupt behind his leg.

He looked worse for wear. He had a cut on his cheek and a lot of cuts on his body. A lot of blood had flowed out of his wounds. His robes had been torn at various positions.

"Color me curious, but can you tell me your names, child?" Snaggletooth questioned.

"You are pulling my leg, aren't you?" The young man growled.

"Just answer my question, my child."

The boy sighed as he rubbed his temple.

"I'll play along. But this better not be a prank of some sort, Snaggletooth. You know very well that I don't take things like that kindly." His magic flared as a wave of coldness hit the goblins making them shudder.

"That girl is Daphne Greengrass. And I am Lord Harry James Potter Black." He intoned coldly.

The goblin nodded grimly as the younger one paled.

"Just as I thought. It's not possible for imposters to wear that ring." The older one hummed.

"But how is that possible? I don't see him having a bastard child. His resemblance to the two of them is too uncanny." The younger goblin, Bearclaw hissed.

" I think I may have a hunch." The older goblin turned back to the boy.

"Would you be kind enough to tell me today's date, child?"

The boy was now fed up with this, but he sighed.

"1st of January, 2001."

"Just as I thought." He hummed.

"Please tell me what is going on?" Harry questioned

He suddenly had a flash as his legs went weak. It had been a fantastic night. The two of them had escaped the Ministry Ball and the two of them had decided to go out of necessity. Who was that other person? A flash of blonde and blue orbs gazed back lovingly at him.

They had spent a few hours greeting the other guests and then when Harry could take no more, they had left the place. As they made their way to a secluded place, they were attacked.

Draco Malfoy and his goons had taken it upon themselves to make sure that they would not leave the place alive that night.

Harry had decided to give the boy a chance. He was not convinced, but after the war, he and Narcissa Malfoy had become close. Sure there was no Draco Malfoy around him, whenever he visited the woman, but he still did see him around and had been left alone and he didn't bother with the boy either. Narcissa had become one constant in his life after the battle, along with sister Andromeda and his godson Teddy Lupin. His outlet of all his frustration and the source of strength after the war.

Harry never had an easy life. Never his own. It was constantly being meddled upon and controlled by Dumbledore.

It took seven years and defeat of the dark lord that convinced him that he had been played.

He was disgusted. He was devastated when he learnt that he was a pawn in the huge game of chess that the man he looked up to had planned. He was being raised as a pig for slaughter.

If it wasn't for Narcissa lying to the face of Tom, he knew that he would be dead by now.

Harry had been lied to all his life. Dumbledore had made sure that he had hidden every single matter about his family from him. He had hidden the fact that he was the Head of two Most Ancient and Most Noble Houses. His rich history, his family magic, his family Manor, his very identity. He had then concluded that Dumbledore never wanted him to know about any of this stuff.

It was Narcissa that had questioned him about this. She had invited him into her home after all the fiasco was done and had sat him down and explained his place in the world. His family history and surprisingly his father.

It was good to hear about the man and his childhood. Narcissa being the eldest of all the Potter and Black kids had loads of tales to tell him.

His involvement with Narcissa Malfoy had not gone down well with the Weasleys. Ron and Molly Weasley were the most vocal in their disagreement.

When Hermione too took their side in this matter, Harry snapped. He knew that Bellatrix had committed atrocities that were not human. But blaming that on her sister was not fair. Especially for someone like Harry who was blamed left and right for mistakes he didn't commit. The Chamber of Secrets and The Goblet of Fire being the main examples and don't even get started on the fiasco that was his fifth year. That's the reason he stayed away from them when they decided to give him an earful about Narcissa.

Harry had closed himself off in his family manor. The one that was hidden from view. Not the Potter home that got destroyed in Godric's Hollow.

He spent the next six months alone with only books as his companion.

He had written ahead to his headmistress and Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt that he would attend Hogwarts after the Christmas holidays.

The family grimoire was his only respite in his otherwise torturous months after the war. His sleepless nights were spent with the Potter and Black books in his hand. Harry grew colder and colder with each passing day while also growing stronger and stronger with time.

Everytime he would see Teddy, he would feel guilty, like he should be blaming himself for Teddy being orphan.

He cursed Dumbledore. The man had caused him to lose so much. If this was what he would have had before he faced Voldemort, he probably could have saved Dora, Remus and a lot of other innocent people that died before and during the war. No. He had to go and

hide all these things from him.

He cursed the man everyday for what he did to him. There were many times when he wanted to go ahead and tell the world about everything that he had learnt of the man. He wanted to go and prove to everyone of them that Dumbledore was exactly as Rita Skeeter showed in her works.

The only thing that prevented him from doing so, was because he didn't wish to speak ill of the dead. The man was dead. End of the chapter. He let it go.

When he had arrived at Hogwarts the next year after Yule, he was a changed man. He didn't bother to go through any such shit from the people. He didn't speak. His presence alone now commanded respect. He could see many Slytherins tremble in front of him. His mere presence was enough to bring them jitters.

Harry though didn't mind. He didn't care. He was long past taking their opinions and reactions for his every action.

Harry felt some of his memories being as vague at best. He could see flashes of someone. Who? He didn't know. All he knew was that he had interacted with this person, but he was not able to place it.

Harry never bothered patching things up with the Weasleys. He didn't remember many of the details, but there certainly was a fight of some sort. He left and from then on, Harry Potter was seen in the Wizarding World only occasionally. He only appeared in the very important Wizengamot sessions but that was it.

For the past year and a half though, he had been frequent. He had made a friend. His vision was again filled with the same blonde and blue, but he couldn't place a face to that silky hair and mesmerizing eyes.

He was shaken from his musings when he heard the older goblin speaking again.

"You might want to get your wounds treated, Lord Potter. You might also want to be ready to meet a few people after you are done." Snaggletooth said.

Harry nodded as he grimaced in pain.

"Sure." He mumbled as he followed a few goblins.

--&&&--

Snaggletooth watched the young man leave and the young woman was being carried away as well. He and Bearclaw immediately left as they had an emergency meeting to attend.

"Overlord Ragnok." The two bowed in front of the older goblin. The old leader of the goblin nation hummed as he gestured for the two to stand up.

"I received a curious piece of information, Snaggletooth." He grunted to the older goblin.

"Imagine my surprise when there was an unauthorized entry into the wards of this building. Moreover, into the most secured wing."

Snaggletooth began explaining everything that had taken place in the main hall of the Bank.

Ragnok listened to everything very carefully, humming at every instance, his face growing curious with each passing second.

"Interesting." He mused as he frowned.

"And when have you planned to inform Charlus Potter and Arcturus Black about this development?"

"A letter is being sent to both of the lords as we speak," Bearclaw interrupted the conversation.

Ragnok hummed.

"I would like to speak to this young man, once their issues have been resolved." The two goblins nodded before bowing and exited the chambers of the Overlord.

--&&&--

Daphne Greengrass woke up and was instantly on alert as she took in the unfamiliar room.

"It's alright, my child." An elderly goblin, clad in white soothed her.

"You were injured. We were patching you up. You will be right as rain in a few hours." Daphne nodded.

'Gringotts.' She thought.

Her eyes roved around the room before it fell upon a sleeping figure that seemed vaguely familiar.

"Potter?!" She blurted out, surprised and also shocked by his condition.

His body was covered with a lot of scars and wounds. Some of them, recent and some of them were old judging by the scarring.

Potter was an enigma. He had always been an enigma. She had first seen the boy when he had arrived at Hogwarts. He was scrawny and small. He was not knowledgeable of their ways.

Frankly, they only had a vague opinion of Potter. The nonsense that Draco Malfoy used to spout in the common room. Potter was a common enemy of the Slytherin house. He was Dumbledore's golden boy and he was the defeater of the dark lord.

She was one of the few who had thought that Potter was a student who had special privileges. He seemingly got a number of points at the end of the year. He seemed arrogant to the others, seemingly thinking better of himself than the others. She too wanted to know about Harry Potter. She had heard of him growing up and had thought that she could see what he was.

But he was not what she thought. Too scrawny. Too uncivilized. Always wore clothes like a beggar even though his family was one of the richest and oldest families.

He had come a long way, Potter. She did see him after the war. He had changed. Gone was the scrawny boy she had seen and now stood a tall and proud young man. The Lord of two Ancient and Most Noble families and the defeater of the Dark Lord.

He cut an impressive figure. The post-war Harry Potter was scary as hell. Cold as ice and calculative.

She heard that he had cut ties with his friends.

It was at that moment that her mind grew fuzzy. Come to think of it, she couldn't remember anything after the last year of her schooling.

She shook her head, her golden blonde hair bobbing side to side.

"What am I doing here?" She questioned the Goblin healer.

"I think I can give a better answer to that question, Ms Greengrass." An old-looking

goblin spoke from behind her.

"I am Snaggletooth. The account manager of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter." He answered her unasked question.

"As for why, you and Lord Potter here have been accomplices to a very shocking and seemingly impossible phenomenon." The old goblin said, causing the girl to frown in question.

"All will be revealed, Ms Greengrass. You just have to be patient till he wakes up from his exhaustion. He was badly injured."

Daphne nodded. Potter was badly injured. She certainly should be able to wait sometime, but that only caused to increase her confusion and curiosity.
