Empire in ruins, a Kingdom sundered.
A false god on loose, a great divider.
The cinders remain, soon to unify.
From winter to spring, ready the sharp blade.
A lone warrior stood on a tall mountain peak that overlooks Republic City. Seeing the massive grey buildings and tall skyscrapers, no words can describe what he is feeling now. Walking across the continent has been a long and arduous journey. But he is finally here.
This is the seat of the Avatar. If it isn't obvious enough, the giant statue of the venerable Aang is displayed in all its glory.
Through the glass goggles, he noticed a lone cranefish bird flying free above the sky. It gawked as it flapped its wings, mocking him with a sharp gaggle.
As he reached out his left hand to catch it, the bird flew away further, looking down at such weakness. Pathetic.
But now that he thinks about it, Republic City was once named after this noisy creature. Cranefish town, ah yes, he finally remembered. But just thinking about it made his blood boil. How dare these heathens claim to occupy the high ground when they build on the land of others?
For today, the wheels of history will turn in favor of his people. Many years he has prepared. But despite all the preparation, this is still a huge gambit. Failure will nullify it all to meaningless.
Yet, part of his heart is still undecided, hesitant even. His greatest struggle is that he can never be sure if what he is doing will ever yield success. He already failed and lost so much already, what is he going to lose?
He then looked at a lone Pai Sho piece resting on his palm, a Jasmine flower tile. He loves to play the board game, an essential part of childhood.
"I am sorry brother for I have caused you so much pain." The man muffled through his helmet. "Let us play Pai Sho, just one last time."
He doesn't personally hate the current incarnate, but she is simply in his way.
The game has been set, and the pieces have gathered. One does not simply kill an Avatar.

With the world in turmoil, and the people suffering. Chaos, reign free across the lands. Following the death of Avatar Korra, the peace and balance which she has achieved in her lifetime has shown signs of decay and dwindle. Darkness within the hearts of human is ever proliferating, cultivating new potential threats that will once again challenge the peace and balance of the four bending nations.
The Earth Kingdom, the largest nation of this world. With diversity numbered in the stars, and strength as strong as the earth itself. Its people are both numerous and enduring. Yet even they cannot suffer from chaos and division forever.
The Kingdom, long united must divide, long divided must unite. A cycle of ever rising and falling dynasties, and a history reflected by its ancient existence.
With the fracture of the Earth Empire, it is thought that the nation would once again be bathed in the blessings of spring. Without hesitation, they embraced the change proposed by Wu and empowered by Avatar Korra, to transform the Earth Kingdom into numerous states governed by its own leaders.
With this in mind, life can finally be good for once. The Avatar continued her duty as a great defender, knowing the change of the Earth Kingdom will benefit its people.
Sadly, not all is well.
With great changes brings terrible surprises. With a piece of parchment and a few strokes from a pen. The Earth Kingdom is fractured, divided and broken on its knees. Its people, while numerous, are now no longer bound to a single banner.
Naivety has proven to be quite a potent weapon. Who would have that killing millions can be possible without force?
Warlords, bandits and rebels, now reign free across the lands. The folly of human stupidity has never ceased to be entertaining.
With a large power vacuum to fill, no one is foolish enough to remain idle. The choices made by few, can affect the lives of many.
Battlefields scarred in crimson and littered with flesh has finally returned. The earth now shakes with armies trampling the lands, marching against one another.
What is now unleashed cannot be contained easily. The folly of humans cannot be underestimated.
With the sudden and devastating death of the current incarnate, the world knew chaos would only fester further.
Being prudent of the unstable future, the Order of White Lotus searches desperately for next incarnate, a solution for the world.
Referencing to the cycle of reincarnations, the next one will be born in the Earth Kingdom now fractured.
It will be a task of immense proportion. With a continent ridden with civil wars and uprisings, nothing is certain. How can they find a blade of grass when death is all around them?
Members of the order began their search in major cities such as Ba Sing Se and Omashu. They travelled across the highest mountains and the deepest caves. Even the faintest rumors are treated with respect.
The quest has so far been not successfully, and little progress were made to locate the next Avatar.
They searched constantly around the country far and wide, but to no avail.
Despite their predicament, the order was not discouraged or dishearten by their failures. It is destiny that the next incarnate will be found.
But how long can the world wait? How much patience do the people have before the Avatar is just a distant memory of the past?
Even so, there are many who still remember the heroic days of Avatar Aang and Korra, who both saved the world from the verge of destruction. There are still people who remain hopeful and waited patiently for the Avatar to return.
