Revy took a deep breath. The air was cold and slightly damp. Downright refreshing. She felt like she was lying on something cold. She carefully pushed herself into a sitting position with her hands. She slowly began to open her eyes and although her vision was still blurry, she was able to see that she was in an strange room. Revy rubbed her eyes with her hand and then opened them again. The haze slowly began to disappear, but the room remained the same. She was in a large room that looked like it had been carved out of stone. She was sitting on a stone floor, and around her were stone walls with some carved patterns, above her head was a stone ceiling with a hole in it. Roots protruded from it, and a beam of sunlight broke through between them, being the only source of light in the room.

Revy started touching her face, feeling every place she touched. She then covered her nose and mouth with her hand. She felt her breath on her hand. Her hand went lower, to her neck, and checked her pulse. Slightly elevated but present. She ran her hand along her chest, and feeling her own touch and that everything was in place, she dared to look at her body. She noticed that her chest was in one piece, as if the painful shotgun blast was just one of her bad dreams. She took a deep breath, sucking the cold air into her lungs, watching as her chest rose appropriately and then fell as she exhaled. She took three more breaths like that, never before had she been so aware of her breathing as she was now.

Her hand then moved lower, checking her stomach and legs. Everything was in place and without holes. She pinched herself in a few places to make sure she had feeling in her body. Every time you feel what she does to her own skin. She started moving her legs, first the right one, then the left one. Both legs responded as they should.

She then looked to her left, there was Rock lying on his side, looking like he was sleeping. Revy carefully, with a little hesitation, approached him and placed the back of her hand to his mouth. She breathed a sigh of relief as she felt his breath on her hand. She then carefully moved his hair aside, checing his head, trying to find a bullet hole. Seeing neither the bullet hole nor the exit wound, she gently put his head down and moved her hand to his neck. While checking his pulse, she watched his chest as it rose and fell rhythmically. The pulse was there, slightly faint, but neither too fast nor too slow, nothing that you would expect from someone who was asleep. Revy breathed with realive even harder, knowing that Rock was alive. The next thing she did was carefully tilt him so that he was lying on his back. Now it was even better to see how his body moved with each breath. Revy knelt by his head, then taking a deep breath, she raised her hand, palm open.

There was a loud sound of a hand slapping the face across the stone chamber, followed by a man's scream.

A moment later, Rock was sitting on the stone floor, holding his red cheek. "Did you have to wake me up by hitting me?" He asked, rubbing his sore face.

"Yes, you weren't reacting to anything else..." She said, getting up from him and then looking around, examining the room they woke up in more closely. Now, being upright and not focused on herself and Rock, she noticed, hidden behind a boulder, an opening that looked like an exit from this chamber.

"By the way, where are we..." Rock asked, getting her attention. "It doesn't look like Yellow Flag..."

"...I don't know..." Revy replied after a moment of silence. "What's the last thing you remember?"

"We were drinking rum and you were talking what you were going to buy with the money you earned... And you?" Revy looked away for a moment, recalling what she remembered.

Everything around Reva stopped. All the screams and sounds of gunshots suddenly stopped and the bullets that were fired, froze in the air. The entire room slowly became darker and darker, and her vision became more and more blurred, until it finally became dark, as if all the lights had gone out, and the only thing she could see was Rock's dead body in front of her, and his dead eyes staring at her. Apart from him, her eyes saw darkness everywhere. Her ears heard only dead silence, and her nose and tongue felt neither the smell nor the taste of blood that had been present a moment ago. The only thing she felt was chill and cold piercing through her. With each moment it becomes more and more severe, more and more unbearable. She instinctively wanted to fold her arms to warm herself up a bit, but her body didn't move.

And she layed there, consumed by the cold and dark, her hand resting on Rock's hand, when suddenly her lifeless eyes caught sight of a white light in the distance. Revy couldn't tell when it was getting closer, as if it was getting closer and further away at the same time. At one point, her vision cleared a little and she was able to see the source of the light. It was a woman, dressed all in white, with pale skin, shoulder-length white hair, and pale blue eyes, and there was light behind her, though she herself left no shadow. The woman came closer and then knelt down next to Rock's body.

"Oh.. Poor thing..." She commented, gently placing her hand on his forehead and then moving down, closing his lifeless eyes.

"Leave him... You... You whore..." Revy uttered, much to her own surprise.

"You don't have to worry... I know how important he is to you..." The woman replied, stroking Rock's head before looking at Revy. "I've been watching you and him for a long time..." Revy felt strange, feeling her eyes on her, what she heard didn't help either.

"Who... Who the fuck are you? And... what the hell do you want?" Revy wanted to scream, but her strength not allowed her to. The woman just smiled gently.

"I am Lumalia, goddess of the night and mischief... though not of this world..." She said with a warm smile. "And what do I want? Hmmm" She thought for a moment, then quickly added. "I'm here because I liked you two so much... Especially you, Revy... You suffered so much, fought so bravely... and yet you achieved nothing and you met such an unfair end." The woman smiled slightly. "I was hoping to fix it..."

"Heh... What... do you want to do?... Will you bring... me back to life?" Revy asked with a wry smile and lack of faith in her voice.

"In some way... yes..." Lumalia replied, causing the emotion on Revy's face to change from all forms of irony to disbelief. "I'm not the god of this world, so I can't resurrect you in this world, but I can resurrect you in mine..." Revy looked at her for a moment, not believing what she was hearing, then asked in a hesitant voice.

"You can... do it?"

"Yes, I can... Should I?... I'm the goddess of mischief, so I don't care..." The woman said, then she stood up, walked past Rock, and knelt down between him and Revy.

"What do I have to do for you in return? And how can I be sure you won't cheat on me?" She asked Revy as she knelt down.

"Nothing... It's a consolation prize for how you finished... You can do whatever you want there, although I will be very satisfied if you find better life there... But it's up to you... And as for cheating... I am the goddess of mischief, not deception or cheating... I steal socks from the wardrobe at night, not souls..." The woman replied with a slight smile, then extended her open hand towards Revy. "Ready?"

"Stop..." Revy turned her eyes towards Rock's body. "I deserve this end... He doesn't... Resurrect him, not me..." Lumalia smiled even warmer in response, then moved closer to Rock and stroked his head.

"I might have expected you to say that... Don't worry... I will resurrect you both... Separating you is not something I want to do..." Suddenly, with the movement of her hand, the wound on Rock's head disappeared. "The gunshot severely damaged his head, so he may not remember the last moments before his death... Maybe that's for the best..." Lumalia put his head down gently, then turned to Revy. "Now it's your turn..." She said, moving closer to her and placing her hand on her forehead. "I'll tell you, I didn't expect you to accept it all so quickly... Some goddess and her promise... I thought you'd think I was an illusion or something like that..."

"We're dead... And I know it... If you're not real... We'll stay dead... If you're real... Any other option is better than death..."

"Amazing, have you started to believe in something..." The glowing woman commented with a hint of laughter in her voice. However, Revy didn't have time to answer her before she placed her hand on her forehead. "But it's true... Life is better than death... So live." Lumalia closed Revy's eyes with her hand. Revy felt the cold slowly leave her body and warmth came in its place, finally, the only cold she felt was the moist air on her skin and the slight chill beneath her back. She felt as if someone's hand was pressing against her chest, compressing it, and then released, allowing her chest to expand and thus take in a breath. Revy took a deep breath. The air was cold and slightly damp...

"No more than you..." She replied without looking his way. "Suddenly everything stopped and I woke up here... Wherever 'here' is." She continued, walkng over to the hole in the ceiling and looking through it. Despite the roots winding throughout the space, she was able to see the blue sky and the green parts of the treetops that were bending under the influence of the wind. Something about them didn't suit her, but she didn't pay much attention to it.

"What is this place anyway? It looks like some sort of bunker or tomb..." Rock began to mutter, searching his head for an explanation for this situation. "Revy, are there any bunkers or something like that near Roanapur?"

"I don't think so..." She replied without removing her sight from the hole above her head.

"Hmm okay... We'll have to find out where we are and how we got here, and then let Dutch know or arrange transportation somehow." He began to speak as he stood up and brushed the dirt off himself.

"So what exactly are we doing now?" Revy asked, finally taking her eyes off the hole above her and towards Rock, who had approached her.

"We'll have to get out of here somehow." He replied and then looked into the hole under which they were standing. "Do you have your Cutlasses?" He asked. Revy realizing that since she woke up this was the first time she had thought about her guns. She quickly looked at her holsters, they were empty. She also looked towards where she was lying earlier. Nothing either, there was no trace of her stainless steel guns.

"Unfortunately no... I have the holsters, but they are empty." She said and then looked through her pockets to see what she had with her. From them she took out a lighter, a pack of cigarettes, surprisingly she didn't feel like smoking right now, and a pendant that she had seen for the first time in her life. . There was a silver full moon with a blue stone in the middle hanging on a long strap. Revy guessed where she got this pendant from. However, she decided not to show it to Rock. "That's all I have..." she said, extending her hand towards him, with a lighter and a package of cigarettes. Rock just nodded without looking at her. To Revy, watching him from the side, it seemed as if he had frozen in concentration at some point on the other side of hole. "Rock, if you want to squeeze through that hole in the ceiling, don't count on me, it's a meter above us and it's full of roots that are thick as hell."

"Um okay..." Rock replied quietly as he continued to stare at the hole in the ceiling. It sounded like he wasn't listening to her at all.

"Neither you nor I can squeeze through there, so come on..." She said, grabbing his hand, now fully gaining his attention. "I saw a passage in this corner, maybe it's the way out." Rock didn't protest, obviously Revy had brought him back to his senses. A few steps later they were in the corner of the room. There was also a passage there, partially obscured by a boulder, which made it difficult to see at first. They both stopped a meter away from him, hugging one of the carved walls. Rock began to look closely at the wall while Revy carefully tried to see something on the other side of the opening, but was able to feel a slight breeze. "I can see shit in this darkness..." Revy said, taking a lighter from her pocket, then lighting it and pointing it towards the passage. The fire slightly illuminated what was behind the literal threshold. Revy was able to make out the outline of a corridor stretching ahead of them. Additionally, the fire in the lighter danced, further confirming that there was air movement and therefore an exit. "Rock, do you see anything here that could be set on fire? To save on the lighter." Rock broke away from the wall and looked around him.

"Unfortunately no... Just stone" He said, crouching down and looking at the floor around them and looking around the room.

"Ehh, well, let's hope there's enough fuel in the lighter... Give me your hand, we can't get separated." She said, then grabbed Rock's hand and they moved forward. It was difficult for them to estimate how far they were going. Maybe it was 3 minutes, maybe 10. The section they went through at that time already had two sharp turns and small stairs leading up. The advantage was the clear corridors, where the biggest obstacle were smaller boulders that were easy to get around. All communication between Revy and Rock at this point consisted of Revy telling Rock from time to time what to watch out for so he wouldn't trip, and long moments of silence in between.

"Revy..." Rock suddenly broke the silence. "What do you think there's a chance we're in another world?"

"What? Another world?" Revy tried to feign surprise mixed with amusement at the thought. She hoped the extra darkness would help her with that. "Rock, how much have you drunk and what the fuck are you talking about?"

"Another earth, purgatory, hell, heaven or even an alternate reality. We died and were moved here and..." Revy just chuckled to herself at that, wanting to discourage Rock from pursuing it for the time being and postpone the uncomfortable conversation until later. But Rock pressed on. "But listen..." He said, tugging on her hand so much that she stopped and had to look at him. "Through the hole I saw trees... I don't know if you noticed, but their bark had a blue tint to it and no such trees grow around Roanapur, nor have I ever heard of one..."

"Rock, as far as I remember, you were an office worker, not a biologist or some other fucking tree scientist, so maybe it was trees you didn't know, or moss, or something..."

"Also, those patterns on the walls, I don't know if you looked at them, but they looked alien and the figures didn't look like people there..."

"Someone was clearly a shitty artist, and you're not an archaeologist or some shit to be sure either!" Revy replied, her voice slightly raised. "Now let's go..." He said, turning around and trying to pull Rock with him, but he didn't move.

"Revy... Knowing what kind of life we lived and where we lived it... Tell me, how big is the chance that we died?" Revy knew the answer to that question, and so did Rock, but she decided not to say anything or even turn around. Rock looked at his partner. Something wasn't right her behavior. If everything were normal, she would have hit him on the head a long time ago for making up ideas, or at least tried to shout at him to dissuade him from such ideas, but she didn't do it, she didn't say anything. "You remember something, right?" Revy gripped his hand tighter upon hearing these words.

"Like I said... I don't remember anything..." Revy replied, nervousness in her voice. "Now come on, I want to get out of here before it gets dark..." She pulled him again. Rock didn't say anything or resist further, so they moved forward. However, they didn't get very far before Revy tripped something with her foot. The thing rolled forward, making a sound as if it were made of thin metal. Revy crouched down and lit the lighter in the direction where the sound had come from a moment ago. As she brought the lighter closer, she saw an object that seemed to remind her of something. She came a little closer and took him in her hand. He was cold to the touch. At the top was what looked like a wire handle, and at the top was a flat metal cover that reflected light. The bottom of the item was larger and had a cork hole built into it. In the middle was a cylinder of glass with a burnt wick sticking out from the bottom. Revy showed the find to Rock. "Rock, I think this is..." Rock took the object in his hand and began to examine it carefully.

"Yes, it's a kerosene lamp... Just a strange one..." He replied, carefully examining the found object.

"Never mind, see if there's any fuel in it!" Rock shook the lamp to his ear, listening to see if there was anything inside, then carefully opened the hole in the stand.

"It looks like there's something else in it..." He added, closing the opening.

"Fucking yeah, open it..." Rock, with some difficulty, uncovered the lamp wick, allowing Revy to light the wick with her lighter. Immediately upon contact with the flame of the lighter, the wick eagerly ignited with a large flame, illuminating much more than Reva's lighter. "Oh yeah! With something like that you can walk in the dark." She said as she put away her lighter and took the lamp from Rock's hand and used it to light the road ahead of them. She could see much more than with the lighter, she felt much more confident with it. She was easily able to spot a boulder in the middle of the road a few meters ahead of them that she hadn't seen before when she was using the lighter. "Okay, let's move on..." She said, then took Rock's hand again and carefully moved forward.

"I wonder where this lampe came from..." Rock asked. Due to the lamp giving off much more light, he was able to look behind Revy and see the road ahead of them.

"Knowing life, someone probably left it here when civilization reached him and started using a flashlight..."

"Maybe, but the lamp itself doesn't look old... True, there was dust on it, but it doesn't look like it had been there for long, plus there was still oil there..." At that moment, Rock, lost in thought, ran into Revy's back.

"You know what Rock... I think we found the owner of this lamp..." Rock looked over Revy's shoulder. He saw a body lying on the floor of the corridor. The unfortunate man was lying face down and his head was under a boulder. Rock glanced up, seeing a hole in the ceiling that matched the boulder in front of them, put two and two together, then looked back at the body. Whoever it was was wearing a leather coat, with what was left of hands sticking out from underneath, and legs clad in what looked like high-top boots. The corpse had been lying there for a while, but no more than a year considering that its clothes were still in relatively good condition. Revy crouched down next to the body and set the lamp on the ground.

"You were pretty unlucky, you fucker..." She said, then looked at her partner. "Rock, do you think he has something that could be useful to us?" Rock looked at her and then at the body next to them. He wasn't a fan of robbing the dead, and over time he managed to force Revy to change her approach to it, at least in his presence, but this was a different situation than usual.

"Chech... Just please be a little respectful."

"Sure..." Revy replied, then turned towards the skeleton and grabbed one of the ends of the cloak in her hand. "I hope you'll forgive us, dead man..." With these words, she lifted the end of his coat, revealing a belt with a holster and ammunition, as well as a small bag. Revy's eyes lit up as soon as she saw the holster. She carefully leaned down and pulled out a slightly dusty but still shiny revolver. She looked at the acquired weapons with slight surprise. It resembled a Colt SAA, although it differed in details and had unknown markings. "Lostar Firearms Forge..." She muttered, reading the markings on the weapon. Only then did she take a closer look at the belt and the corpse's clothes. A long coat with a shirt underneath. Tattered pants, high-top shoes on his feet, and finally this belt with ammunition and a revolver. "Rock, doesn't he look like some wild west cowboy..."

"You still don't believe my theory?"

"Your theory was about another fucking world, not fucking time travel..."

"Yes? Then look at it." Rock said, then he pointed his finger at the dead man and pointed to the place where his back ends.

"Are these... Are these tail bones?" Revy asked with great surprise. "What the fuck?!"

So Rock and Revy died and got isekai'd... I hope you are at least intuiged by this story in some way. What will happen now? Will Revy change her life, now that she has second chance or she will still work in only trade she knows? Will Rock find something for himself here or will he just long after his previous life? Is Rock and Revy only ones that got isekai'd?

I don't know, you tell me what you think.
