John Watson starts the Michaelmas term at Cambridge, but his roommate Sherlock Holmes isn't what one might expect. Mystery, humor, and general fun. This is a multi-chapter fic, inspired by a Tumblr post and encouraged by a reader's recent review.

In this pre-Sherlock story and prequel to the series premiere, "A Study in Pink," Captain John Hamish Watson, MBBS, licensed general practitioner, and combat surgeon in training, is shot while on a retrieval mission in Afghanistan, and spends weeks afterwards fighting for his life. Sherlock does not appear in this story at all.

Summary: An old lady told her she would die for the man she loved; when she met Mycroft Holmes she knew the old woman spoke true. Note: A little one-shot that's been hounding me since forever. I have not watched Sherlock in a long time, so please pardon for any errors.

Easter this year promises to be a better one than last year, with Sherlock's parents, as well as Martha Hudson, set to visit. But sometimes things don't go to plan.
