"Severin rests his chin on Richard's shoulder and watches as the never-been family bleeds and dies. It's then that Jim excuses himself." Richard and Severin's baby dies at childbirth. Jim doesn't understand.

The last thing teenage Sherlock Holmes wants to do on Halloween is attend a class party. Much to his dismay, he gets dragged to one anyway. At least he has a witch and a flask to keep him company in his sulk.

After a late night and very early morning full of work, John decides they're going out. They climb into a cab with the instructions given to the cabbie - "Take us somewhere."

John struggles to breathe through her scattered Mrs Hudson-isms. She's invading the flat, their flat, with the smell of stale cake and secret oh-one-won't-hurt cigarettes. He bites back an imitation of Sherlock's casual cruelty that would quieten her because it wouldn't help. Sherlock is gone. There are enough echoes in the flat, he doesn't need another one on his tongue.
