Based on ACD's "The Dying Detective" but written in today's "Sherlock" style with the occasional (very slight) bit of fluff. Similar to the writing in "The Reigate Stockholders". John's POV... Mrs Hudson comes to John's clinic with alarming news: Sherlock has contracted a terrible illness and might be dying...

"I'm not gay." John said, every time someone insinuated that he and Sherlock were a couple. Then Sherlock jumped off a building and died and John's heart broke and he understood that being in love may have nothing whatever to do with gay or straight or any other such label. And then Sherlock came back...

Sherlock: Look at them. They all care so much. Do you ever wonder if there's something wrong with us? Mycroft: All lives end. All hearts are broken. Caring is not an advantage, Sherlock.
