The newt and the wolf Chapter 16
The dinner
Normal pov
We open up inside the planter's home with said frogs and their 3 human friends putting the finishing touches for their dinner party with them dressed up in nicer clothes except for Blake who was still wearing his armor with a tie.
"Blake why aren't you dressed up?" Anne asked.
"What I'm wearing a tie." Blake said.
"Sure, but why are you still wearing your armor?" Anne said.
"Anne almost every time you do anything in this world something bad happens or you have to fight something so I'm keeping my armor on." Blake said.
"He's got a point." Marcy said and before could Anne protest there was a knock at the door.
"Okay now everyone please be cool remember this isn't the same Sasha who to kill you and take over Amphibia." Anne said as she opened the door and was greeted by Sasha still in her armors but with a flower pin and Grime wearing a suit looking menacing.
"Stay back/Don't kill me/Take Hop pop he's old!" The frogs yelled together.
Anne cleared her throat.
"I mean how it going." Hop pop said.
"Smooth guys real Smooth." Blake said with a deadpan.
"My sincere thanks to you all for the kind invitation your home is sufficient for habitation." Grime said as he pulled in a cart with a cover over it. "I baked a Vol-cake-no it needs a little more time to rise but it's sure to end the night with a devastating explosion of chocolatey goodness."
"Oh, thanks I'll just put it over here." Hop pop said putting the cart off to the side.
"Well gang it looks like we're finally back together again." Sasha said happily causing Anne and Marcy cheer very loudly making everyone else cover their ears.
"Human friendship are loud." Polly said.
"Girls what did I tell you don't do that while I'm around it hurts my ears." Blake said his ears still ringing.
"Sorry." The girls said together.
We cut to a few minutes later outside at a table with dinner set up Sprig was sitting next to Anne while Sasha was trying to get Sprig to move but he wasn't.
"Sasha it's first come first serve thing just sit somewhere else." Blake said.
"Fine." Sasha said reluctantly sat somewhere else.
"Well enjoy everyone." Hop pop said as they started eating.
"It tastes so fresh you must tell me which frogs you extort for produce." Grime said.
"We grew them ourselves actually." Hop pop said offended.
"Oh, right frogs." Grime said.
Dinner was off to a rough start as they mostly ate in awkward silence.
"So, who want to hear a joke?" Hop pop asked.
"Oh no." Anne said worried.
"How many toads does it take to screw in a mushroom light?" Hop pop asked.
"How many?" Grime asked angrily.
"None they prefer utter darkness and smell of blood." Hop pop said causing the humans to facepalm but Grime was actually laughing.
"Oh, it's so true good one small frog." Grime said patting Hop pop on the shoulder.
While that joke was very bad it at least broke the ice, and everyone was started to make some small talk.
"Wow Hop pop this dinner is one of your best." Polly said.
"Thanks, but Blake helped a lot." Hop pop said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Wait, you cook?" Sasha asked Blake with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah, didn't your parents teach you how to cook?" Blake asked.
"Well, my did." Anne said proudly.
"My, couldn't be bother." Sasha said sadly.
"My banned me after the third fire." Marcy said embarrassed.
"Well ok then." Blake said.
"Hey Sash I can't get over your armor it totally suits you." Marcy said.
"I know right way better than that dorky medieval school play we were in." Sasha said.
"I like that play." Blake said under his breath.
"Remember how I convinced you guys to skip rehearsal and hangout on the roof." Sasha said.
"And we had the loudest dance party." Anne said, causing the three girls to laugh.
"Why did we stop doing that?" Sasha asked.
"Well, we got caught Anne took the blame and said it was her idea." Marcy said sounding guilty.
"My parents grounded me for a month." Anne said upset.
"Oh yeah I forgot about that." Blake said.
"Say who's up for a rousing game of draws-a-doodle?" Hop pop asked to change the subject.
"I LOVE DRAW-A-DOODLE." Grime shouted as he smashed the table.
"Sign alright but first we need to clean up the table you broke." Blake said with a deadpan.
"Oh, right sorry about that." Grime said embarrassed.
A few minutes later the planter's living room.
"Anyone else hearing a buzzing sound?" Blake asked as everyone was sitting around an easel.
"Oh, that just the cake." Grime said which Blake shrug thinking it's just an amphibia thing.
Grime went first and as he drew everyone tried to guess what the misshape drawing was until.
"Sergeant Campbell Bilgewater and the horsefly rebellion of 48." Hop pop called out.
"Correct." Grime said.
"Ok no more drawings that are about amphibian history it unfair to us human here." Marcy said.
"Oh, yeah your right that is unfair I didn't think of that." Hop pop said.
Hop pop went next and drew a crying snake.
"A weeping dirt snake." Sasha said and Sprig laugh.
"That doesn't look anything like a dirt snake bad guess bad ow." Sprig said before Blake lightly elbow him.
"Sprig it's not nice to laugh at someone." Blake said in a scolding manner.
"And besides it is a weeping dirt snake." Hop pop said.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah in your face twerp." Sasha said gloating get in Sprig's face.
"Sasha calm down it just a game." Anne said.
"But he." Sasha started but Blake cut her off.
"Is just a kid you're older so act like it." Blake said.
"Fine." Sasha said as she got up for her turn.
As she drew what was clearly a tree the frogs had another idea.
"Oh, it's toad tower exploding." Polly said.
"I don't think so." Blake said.
"No, I think it is there the top where Anne chose us and there the smoke from when we blew it up." Hop pop said.
"OK TIME OUT." Blake yelled getting everyone's attention. "Look I get that you guys don't like each other but Anne put a lot of work into this dinner so you guys can make peace before we leave and what is that rumbaing sound?"
They turned around and saw that the cake was growing and shaking.
"Oh yeah, the cake." Sprig said before the cake grown so big it blew the roof off the house and chocolate lava spouted out it.
"Ooh dessert yummy." Grime said excitedly while everyone else panic.
"I like hot chocolate, but this is ridiculous." Anne said as everyone jumped on top anything for the couch to the coffee table to involve getting burn by the lava.
"Was this your plan all along?" Hop pop asked Grime angrily. "Pretend to be nice to get into our home and blow it up."
"It's revenge for toad tower." Sprig said.
"What no, the Vol-cake-no is a toad favorite every feast ends with a delicious dessert battle do frog not do this?" Grime asked.
"NO!" everyone else yelled.
"Don't worry it's delicious assuming you survive the hornets." Grime said.
"Hornets" Marcy asked.
Just as so as she said that a swarm of large hornets came out of the cake.
"So that was what buzzing sound was." Blake said.
"Their, the best part but be careful their stingers can cause-." Grime said before a hornet stung him. "Paralysis."
"What do we do?" Marcy asked.
"We fight." Sasha said grabbing a dagger hidden in her hair and tried to used it on a hornet but it didn't even leave a scratch. "Ok that's one tough shell."
"Ok then let's try this." Blake said as he throw a potion at a hornet braking the bottle spreading it's context on the bug as vines started to sprout and rapping around the hornet causing it to fall into the chocolate lava
"Great idea they can't fly if their wings are all tangled." Marcy said.
"Yeah, but one small problem there are more hornets then, I have Potions." Blake said.
"I have an idea Marcy do you still have your crossbow?" Anne asked.
"Only always" Marcy said as she rolled up her sleeve revealing the crossbow and pulled the stinger from Grime's butt. "Oh, I get it we can't pierce their shells but maybe their own stingers can."
Marcy shot the stinger at one of the hornets hitting and paralyzing it causing it to fall into chocolate lava.
"Ok here the plan Sasha get them mad and try to get as many stingers as you can then give them to Marcy to shoot back while Blake keep using your potions to rap them up while helping Sasha." Anne said.
"Let's do this" Sasha said.
With that Sasha got most of the hornets to focus on her somehow, deflected the stingers they shot at her and throwing them to Marcy who shot them back at the hornets causing some to fall into the lava while Anne was using Blake's newest spear to knock some hornets away and even knocking a few into lava while Blake was using his potions and his vine using it like a whip knock more hornets out of the air and into the lava they kept this up until there were no more hornets and lava had cooled and turn solid.
"Yeah we did it teamwork baby." Marcy cheered.
"Look Anne I'm sorry for earlier I know you want me to change but I like who I am." Sasha said.
"Sasha change is a part of life and a part of growing up." Blake said.
"Yeah, so how about instead of trying to get you to change you acknowledge that I've change." Anne said.
"And we'll figure out a way to this work." Marcy said.
"I like that idea." Sasha said as four friends share a group hug.
"Fine I'll allow it." Sprig said with tears from heartfelt moment in his eyes and Polly just laughed at that.
"You think you have a say in this." Polly said just as Grime was waking up.
"Aw I missed the whole battle." Grime said sadly.
"Well, you can still be of a part of the cleanup." Blake said as Hop pop gave Grime a broom.
"Yeah, that's fair but first." Grime said before cutting out a dead chocolate covered hornet. "Dessert"
While the group were enjoying the surprising, good hornet one couldn't help but wonder how they are going to fix the roof tonight but that is a mystery we will never know.
End of chapter 16
Alright another chapter bites the dust and just one more before we get to true colors anyway have a happy thanksgiving and I hope to get the next chapter done before Christmas.

When Blake says "I wasn't doing anything smoke bomb" it really reminded me of when Stan from gravity falls would use smoke bombs to escape. Also does Blake use alchemical creations as part of his fighting style?
The smoke bomb was meant to get a laugh, to make sure Blake was out of earshot when Andrias was offering Marcy his fake deal and yes Blake did learn the smoke bombs quick escape trick from Stan.
Blake does want to use his potions in battle it just he hasn't had a chance to use them until now keep in mind the only fights he been in since getting his potions were the shadow fishes and he left them in his room the only reason he had his vine with him during the sleepover was because he wanted to show off, he is a teenage boy after all.
