Summary: Rory Mitchell was the baby of the family. But whenn the lightspeed rangers were formed her life changed forever. She now faces tragedy, heartache and eventually love.

The sun was shining in Mariner Bay. The Aquabase was filled wilh people running around as Captain Mitchell just got news that the demons had escaped from the tomb and were about to invade.

"Rangers welcome to the Aquabase" He greeted as his daughter Dana led the inside the conference room. He then explained the situation t them. "Mariner Bay needs your help"

They all agreed and took their morphers. "Father there are 6?" Dana spoke after strapping hers on. Then it hit her. "Father no"

"Sir?" Carter Grayson the new red ranger whispered. Chad smiled knowing who they were talking about.

"Rangers follow me". They followed the Captain to the lift and went topside. "This is the lagoon it leads to the ocean. Now there is one person that you have not met. Well Chad you know her but for the rest of you".

They followed him to the edge of the dock. Kelsey yelped and grabbed Joel's arm as a killer whale popped its head up.

"She don't bite, and if she did i would be gone by now" A girl giggled out as she leaned her arms on the dock. "Hi Dad"

"Rory" Captain Mitchell pulled his 13 year old daughter out of the water. "This is my daughter Rory, Rory this is Carter, Kelsey and Joel you already know Chad."

"Whatever" She mumbled. She knew why they were there and she hated it. When she found ut about the rangers she knew her Dad and older sister would forget about her. "I have homework i have to go"

They all frowned at the young girl walked past them. "Sir did we do something wrong?" Joel asked.

"No" Dana answered. "Rory hates ranger business. Long story short our Mother was best friends with Tommy Oliver's mother in Angel Grove. Tommy loves her like a sister but when she found out his secret about being a ranger barely having time for her she grew to despise rangers. Now that rangers are back she believes she will be forgotten again"

"Chad how do you know her?" Kelsey decided to ask as they followed Dana inside the Aquabase.

"I have a sister the same age, Riley. We grew up two blocks down and the girls became attached at the hip" He explained.

"Father is she alright". Dana asked as he walked back into the conference room with a frown on his face.

"I don't know. She won't talk but she hardly speaks to us or anyone anymore" He sat down. "My baby believes also that she killed her mother. She thinks she shouldn't have been born so please don't feel offended if she doesn't speak to any of you. You all are free to explore Mariner Bay. Dismissed".

Rory laid on her stomach on top of her bed as she worked on her homework. She looked up as her door opened. Dana walked over and sat next to her. "Rory do you want to come hang out with us?"

"No thanks."

Carter decided to take a chance and winked at Kelsey. "Hey how about you come to the park and i will buy you a chocolate sundae?"

Rory looked up dropping her pencil. "double scoop and sprinkles?"

"Deal" Carter agreed. She smirked as Dana gave him a look. "What?"

"She has never done that before with anyone, everytime Dad or me ask we get a flat out no".

Carter shrugged. "I guess she likes me" They followed Dana out. Carter drove to the park and parked the rover. Rory climbed up on the hood.

"Thanks" Rory spoke as he handed her the cold treat. "So red huh?"

Carter hopped up next to her. "'Yeah. So Chad tells me you and his sister are friends?"

"Yeah she's the only friend i have. Look Carter i know my Dad told you how i feel about all this and its true so trust me my feelings won't change. All i ask is that you keep my sister safe"

Carter glanced over at Dana who was getting her own ice cream. "I will i promise".

"Look i know i'm cold but i love my sister and my Dad but i have been hurt so much with ranger stuff"

She hopped off the hood. "Carter i don't know why but i feel i can trust you"

"Okay this is weird" Dana spoke in shock as her sister and Carter were actually talking. "She never talks to anyone".

"Dana i didn't mean to be nosey but i saw a picture in her room. Who is the little boy?" Kelsey asked.

"My brother' Rory announced as she sat next to Joel."We had an older brother but he died in a car accident. I don't remember him. Dana can we go back to the base"

"Sure"

Later that night Captain Mitchell quietly walked into his youngest daughter's room. She was asleep on her back with her hands across her stomach. "I love you sweetheart" He whispered kissing her forehead. '

The Next Morning...

Rory woke up and rolled out of bed. She headed into the kitchen ad grabbed an apple. "Morning"

"Morning Chad"

"So what are you and Riley doing today?"

"Nothing. When i got back to the base last night we had a fight." Rory told him.

"That's not like you two".

"Well i wish people would stop telling me to move on and accept the ranger life!" She slammed her fist on the table."Chad i am sick of this! why can't my life be normal!"

Chad walked over and grabbed her shoulders. "What else?"

"Chad now that everyone is rangers i am going to be left out. Today in school i made the basketball team i never told Dana or Dad because i know it won't matter. They will be too busy with all this to take the time to even come to a game".

Chad watched as she wiped her years and walked out of the rushed out of the base as the alert sounded.

"Rory can you come here please?" Her Dad called to her as she was about to enter her room. She walked over. "Rory listen i know this is hard for you but i want you to be safe. Last night the titanium morpher we were testing was stolen. The rangers are out fighting him so until we find out who this is you return back her right after school everyday alright"

"But Dad!" She protested.

"No buts Rory"

"But i have a game tomorrow night!"

"Game what game?"

She wiped her tears. "I made the basketball team! Why do i even bother to do anything i want to do! all i ever am here is a prisoner since the demons came!"

The rangers entered the base coming to a stop watching the scene unfold.

"You formed the rangers to protect the city! What was the point if i can't have fun while their fighting them! I hate you!" Rory yelled at her Father as she ran from him.

"Don't" Captain Mitchell ordered as Carter went to enter. "She knows how to override the code to her room trust me you won't get in" He glanced sadly at Dana and walked away.

Dana followed her Father to his office. As she entered she saw him sitting on his couch with his head in his hands. He cleared his throat as Dana sat next to him. "Father she doesn't mean it"

"Yes she does and she's right. When i lost Ryan i promised myself i would protect her. All i wanted was her to grow up how do i fix this?"

Dana took his hand. "You trust her and let her out of the base and we go to her game"

He nodded in agreement and gave hiig daughter a hug. "I will go check on her". Dana walked to her sister's room to see it empty.

"She's gone to meet Riley" Joel told her from where he was standing in the kitchen. "Don't worry Carter followed after and he will keep his distance"

At the park Carter hid in the bushes as Rory ran to meet Riley. His heart broke as he overheard them.

"Rory what happened?" Riley asked her best friend as they sat on the grass.

"I c-can't go to the game tomorrow night! All because of this ranger business!" She cried. "I brought my jersey back to Coach Matthew before i came to meet you."

"Rory no we need you! you're our captain" Riley protested.

"I'm sorry but i am not allowed to play. I told him you should be captain. Look i better go." Both girls hugged. Rory hopped on her bike and paddled away.

Carter watched her leave and stood up. He drove back to the base.

"Carter where is she?" Kelsey asked with worry.

"She's okay she was with Riley now she is gone to the lagoon. She's quitting the team. She told Riley that she brought her jersey back to the school" He told them sadly. They went silent as the young girl entered the kitchen.

"Rory" Dana whispered. "Are you alright?" Dana never got an answer as her sister grabbed a bottle of water and left the room.

Rory tapped on the glass in her room as Crescent swam up to the underwater window. "What do you want?" She growled as her Father entered her room. "I know you had me followed the yellow rover sticks out like a sore thumb."

"I never had you followed. Carter was worried about you so he went to find you". He told his daughter. "I promise you Rory when this is all over we can be a normal family"

She scoffed. "Whatever. We haven't been a normal family since the car accident" She turned to face him. "I wonder what Ryan would say if he was here right now"

Captain Mitchell sighed. "He would say the same but he would also be your big brother and want to protect you like we all do. Rory before you protest just hear me out please. I know i am hovering so much. You're growing up so fast on me and soon i won't have my little girl i will have a grown up woman like Dana".

"Daddy"

"Sweetheart you are right i need to let go a little no matter how hard it is. Just promise me you will be careful and any sign of trouble you wll just run okay?"

"I promise" She told her Dad as she hugged him.

"You know you look just like your Mom but you have Ryan's eyes. You also inherited your Mom's temper."

She laughed lightly. "Dad no matter how much i grow up i will always be your little girl". She kissed his cheek. Kinsley walked out of her room and went to the lounge.

Carter jumped as he felt to arms wrap around his neck from behind from where he was sitting at the table. "Thank you" She whispered.

He reached up touching her hands. "Anytime". He replied as she left the room. "Told you she likes me" He spoke to Joel with a grin.

Rory walked up the the lift and headed to the lagoon. It was begininng to get dark. She jumped as bushes moved. "Okay its just the wind".

She fed the two whales and as she walked back to the lift she noticed a figure watching her. Seconds later he vanished through a portal. Rory rushed inside the base.

That night she couldn't get his face out of her head but eventually fell into a restless sleep.
